I can understand changing the one in California because it’s right next to New Orleans Square but the one in Florida is next to Big Thunder Mt. and is in Frontier Land it doesn’t fit the theaming. In December 2004 at DW I got to ride it back to back without having to get out. Nobody was in the loading area.
We used to have fun standing on the bridge perusal each and every person in the boat/log smiling and laughing as they rounded the corner after the drop This attraction was pure joy! DEI hires have ruined EVERYTHING It is very obvious they are not hiring the best of the best anymore just checking the boxes And look at the result!! 😡
This is the type of thing theme parks should have been doing years ago. There are so many ride that have been lost completely when a bit of time with a good camera could have preserved some part of the experience. They could even make it an official product and charge for it, thereby still making money off the intellectual property.
I performed in Disney’s Magic Kingdom with our school’s marching band and three other schools also performed in front and behind us. They all had the same plan: go to Splash Mountain to cool off after marching in 90 degree weather with cotton uniforms. Ironically enough, the ride shut down while we were performing and opened up 5 hours later 😂 My plan: ride Jungle Cruise while the line was short. It didn’t work out as best as I thought it would, but it was still a relatively short line.
I think the change is good tbh despite all the hate towards the change. I find it a really positive thing and I’m honestly really excited for it! I never saw Song of the South and admittedly Splash Mountain was one of my favorite rides as a kid but I’m looking forward to what they do in the new ride! Farewell Splash Mountain!
I feel like crying right now… I’ve been on this ride 30 years ago with my parents and sister… Now 30 years later I have saved up enough money to go to Disney World with my 6 kids and wife making this a 30 year anniversary ! Now they are closing this epic ride because of racism ? Which kid on this planet will see racism in this ride ? When I was a kid all I remembered from this ride was the last drop and the funny picture we got at the end ! I am so bummed… This is a road trip from Quebec Canada that we will be tackling to go to Disney World… What a total bummer… This was the ride i was most anticipating to get on with the family when arriving at Walt Disney world… Ahhh man… 😢
Going to miss this ride’s theme a lot. Just went in December and rode it a couple of times. It was slightly depressing to see the animatronics not working and falling into disrepair (WDW obviously isn’t putting effort into fixing them because they’re getting torn down soon). However, it was good to see it one last time. This was my dad’s favorite ride and all that nostalgia is going to be completely rethemed.
