Weapon Spell Traps, or Secrets, are spells that are affected by Spell Damage, but in a slightly different way than usual. The bonus to damage dealt by Secrets is applied when it triggers, not when it is being cast. Many people believe that weapons are more similar to spells than minions, and that the Coin does not gain any bonuses from spell damage, thus the bonus is wasted.
In Hearthstone, spell cards are the second most common card type, after minions. They can be played to trigger a one-time effect or ability described in the card’s text. Casting a spell consumes the card, producing an immediate effect. All damage done by any spells is considered spell damage.
Waits are special cards that can be equipped by heroes, each with an Attack value and a Durability value. Each hero can only equip one weapon at a time. Weapons are one of the three major types of cards in the game, along with Minions and Spells. They are equipped by the hero for use in attacking an enemy, which often translates into a visible weapon effect. Equip is an ability that generates a weapon and equips the hero with it, and equip effects are the weapon equivalent of summon effects.
In summary, weapons are a type of card that can be used to attack enemies, and they are equipped by heroes for use in attacking them. Equip effects are the weapon equivalent of summon effects, and they are not considered spells.

Do breath weapons count as spells?
A breath weapon is a supernatural ability where a creature expels something from its mouth, dealing damage based on energy. These weapons allow a Reflex save for half damage, with some allowing a Fortitude or Will save instead. Most creatures with breath weapons are limited to a number of uses per day or a minimum length of time between uses. Breath weapons are typically standard actions, and no attack roll is necessary. Any character caught in the area must make the appropriate saving throw or suffer the full effect of the breath weapon.
Breath weapons are supernatural abilities, and creatures are immune to their own breath weapons unless otherwise noted. However, creatures unable to breathe can still use breath weapons. The term “breath weapon” is a misnomer.
What counts as a spell in Hearthstone?
In Hearthstone, spells are not just magical effects but also encompass abilities like World of Warcraft, including magical, traditional spell-casting, and physical abilities. Fireball, a basic mage spell, costs 4 mana and deals 6 damage. Spell cards are cards that trigger one-time effects or abilities, with casting consuming the card and producing an immediate effect. They do not have Attack or Health attributes but only a mana cost. Spells provide a range of functions, from damage-dealing and removal of minions to enchantments, drawing cards, summoning minions, and restoring Health.
Do secrets count as spells Hearthstone?
Secrets are triggered by minions and have the same mana cost, which prevents opponents from guessing the Secret based on its cost. Each class’ Secrets are colored differently, with pink for mages, yellow for paladins, green for hunters, and gray for rogues. Secrets created by Lorewalker Cho are revealed publicly when played and can be revealed after play by hovering over the Secret icon.
In some cases, a Secret’s triggering event may occur but its effect cannot activate, such as Mirror Entity and Noble Sacrifice, Avenge, or multiple Secrets when a specific target is removed by another effect. In such cases, the Secret will remain in place without taking effect, revealing itself, or giving any indication that its trigger condition was met.
Experienced players can logically determine the identity of unrevealed Secrets by intentionally testing the Secret, drawing it out with weak cards and actions, or hedging their bets to minimize its negative consequences. Secrets are spells and will activate all spell-related effects, and they can be improved by Spell Damage.
Quest cards are similar to Secrets but cannot be affected by Secret-interacting cards like Eater of Secrets, Kezan Mystic, or Flare. If a hero is destroyed by the activation of an enemy Secret, the game will end there, without allowing any triggering actions to complete.
Players cannot have more than one copy of the same Secret active at any one time and cannot play Secret cards that match one of their active Secrets. When played directly from the hand, players can have up to 5 different Secrets active at a time, but once this limit is reached, the player will not be able to play further Secret cards.
In summary, Secrets are a crucial aspect of the game, allowing players to determine the identity of unrevealed Secrets and avoid triggering actions.
How does a weapon work?
Upon application of pressure to the trigger, the firing pin is released, resulting in a forward movement with considerable force. The primer detonates, resulting in the combustion of gunpowder and the ignition of the gas within the cartridge. The expanding gas forces the bullet out of the cartridge and down the barrel, causing it to spin and produce a detonation due to the bullet’s velocity and the escape of gases.
Do invocations count as spells?
An incantation is a magical formula used to trigger a magical effect on a person or objects. It can be spoken, sung, or chanted and can be performed during ceremonial rituals or prayers. In medieval literature, folklore, fairy tales, and modern fantasy fiction, enchantments are considered charms or spells, leading to the terms “enchanter” and “enchantress” for those who use them. The English language borrowed the term “incantation” from Old French in the late 14th century, with the weakened sense “delight” first attested in 1593. Words of incantation are often spoken with inflection and emphasis, and the tone and rhyme of the words and placement of words may differ depending on the desired outcome of the magical effect.
What cards are considered spells?
In Magic the Gathering (MTG), a spell is any card cast by a player, usually from their hand, but can also be cast from other areas of the battlefield, such as the library or graveyard. Land cards are not considered a spell. During a game, players take actions such as tapping and untapping their cards, casting spells, and attacking/blocking with creatures. Tapping a card means turning it sideways to show it has been used for the turn, such as using a land for mana, attacking with a creature, or activating an ability with a symbol. Tapping a card requires untapping it to use it again. To cast a spell, players must pay its mana cost by tapping lands or other permanents to make the required amount and type of mana.
What counts as spells?
A spell is a card that has been cast and placed on the stack, or a copy of another spell. It is only a spell when on the stack, and in most other zones, it is simply a card or a permanent when on the battlefield. All card types, except lands, are types of spells, and even permanent cards are typically cast as spells before becoming permanents. Spells exist as game objects, and their rules determine interactions and effects between the casting of the spell and its taking effect. A copy of a spell is also a spell, even if it doesn’t have a card associated with it.
How do weapons work in Hearthstone?
Weapons are a key card type in the game, along with Minions and Spells. They are equipped by the hero to attack an opponent’s Minions or Hero. Each weapon has an attack value and a “durability” value, indicating its usage duration. A hero can only use one weapon per turn, and a second weapon after a previous one is unavailable. Minions cannot directly attack weapons, but some cards target opponent’s weapons. When a Hero uses a weapon to attack a minion, the hero takes damage unless the minion’s attack value is 0. However, the Gladiator’s Longbow allows the hero to be immune to damage while attacking.
What are the 7 types of spells?
Casting spells is a crucial skill for all witches and wizards, as it allows them to perform various magic tasks. In the Harry Potter universe, there are seven types of spells: charms, curses, transfigurations, healing spells, jinxes, hexes, and counter-spells. Each type has its own properties and purposes, all able to be cast with a single wand.
A charm, or enchantment, gives an object or organism new properties, such as levitate or affect appearance or emotions. When cast with the intent of lasting within a person or object, the receiver becomes bewitched. Dark charms, or curses, can cause immense pain or even death. Despite their potential, charms can be harmless and even helpful for wizards, making them essential for mastery of magic.
Do equipped monsters count as spells?
When a Monster Card is equipped to another monster, it is treated as an Equip Spell Card and moved to a Spell and Trap Card Zone. This card cannot be destroyed by monster-destroying effects, but can be destroyed by effects that destroy Spell Cards. If a Monster Card is sent to the Graveyard, it becomes a monster again when it is in the Graveyard. Equip cards cannot have their equip target changed by other card effects, except for Union Monsters equipped by their own effects.
Union monsters consistently treat themselves as Equip Spell Cards while equipped. Equipped cards are still on the field, so effects or conditions requiring a card being sent to the Graveyard still apply. However, Monster Cards cannot activate or apply their effects while treated as Equip Cards, as they are not monsters.
How does weapon proficiency work?
Proficiency with a weapon allows you to add a bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with that weapon. If you use a weapon with which you lack proficiency, you do not add the bonus. Many weapons have special properties related to their use, such as ammunition. A weapon with the ammunition property can be used for ranged attacks only if you have ammunition to fire from it. Each time you attack, you expend one piece of ammunition, which you can recover half by searching the battlefield. If you use a weapon with the ammunition property for melee attacks, it is treated as an improvised weapon and requires a sling to deal damage.
