Does Enhanced Faerie Fire Apply To Spells That Burst The Crusade?

The Improved Faerie Fire is a talent that requires Druid and increases the chance of a target being hit by melee and ranged attacks by 3. This spell is not a balance druid talent, but rather a melee/hunter talent. It curses the target, lowering their armor and making them vulnerable. The spell does not impact caster “Spell Hit”, but rather melee/hunter “Hit”. It does not give the spellcaster an additional 3 chance to hit.

In the Druid Talents category, the Improved Faerie Fire spell increases the chance the target will be hit by melee and ranged attacks by 3, and increases the critical strike chance of your damage spells. It also increases the chance the target will be hit by spell attacks by 1/2/3, and increases the critical strike chance of your damage spells.

In our guild, we tested the Improved Faerie Fire and found that it actually gives Spell Hit, regardless of the tool tip. We recommend specging into Improved FF and never spec out of it to get 100 uptime on it.

In summary, the Improved Faerie Fire is a valuable talent for Balance Druids, as it increases the chance of a target being hit by melee and ranged attacks by 3, and increases the critical strike chance of your damage spells.

Does Faerie Fire stack with expose armor?

In the period following the Cataclysm, the effects of Faerie Fire are comparable to, but do not stack with, the effects of the following armours: Protection Warriors’ Sunder Armour, Assassination Rogues’ Expose Armour, Hunters’ Raptors’ Tear Armour, and Hunters’ Serpents’ Corrosive Spit.

Does righteous fire added fire damage to spells?

Righteous Fire is a spell that rapidly burns the player and nearby enemies, affecting their life and energy shields. Its damage scales with the player’s life and shield amount, and grants more spell damage while active. The skill has a life degeneration effect, which can be mitigated with fire resistance. It damages the player’s energy shield and prevents it from recharging, but can regenerate if the player has life regeneration and the Zealot’s Oath keystone. Keystones, passives, and item mods designed to avoid or block spell damage will not work on Righteous Fire’s degeneration damage.

Does improved faerie fire stack with misery?

Improved Faerie Fire is a useful talent for raiding, as it does not stack with Misery from shadow priests but lasts longer and does not depend on other abilities. It allows spellcasters to drop hits from their gear for more offensive power. It is generally unwise to cast Faerie Fire for hit on mobs not bosses, as the hit cap is lower for lower leveled enemies. Patch changes have been made, including removal of the talent in Patch 4. 0. 1, increased chance of critical strike with spells by 1/2/3 on targets afflicted by Faerie Fire in Patch 3.

0. 2, and addition of the skill in Patch 2. 0. 1. The list of available classes includes Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Druid, Evoker, Hunter, Mage, Monk, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, and Warrior.

Can you vanish with faerie fire?

The text suggests that Faerie Fire should prevent the use of Vanish, but Cloak of Shadows can be used to remove it. This will allow Vanish to be used without wasting the cooldown and allowing the druid to still see the rogue. The text also mentions that rogues are annoying to some, but it feels wrong to see them “Vanish” in a puff of smoke while still being visible and able to be ‘Marked’ after CloS fades. The fixed Vanish should make it no longer an escape for rogues.

Does faerie fire affect ethereal plane?

The capacity of the Ghost to traverse the Ethereal plane is contingent upon the presence of Faerie Fire, even in instances where the target has departed the material plane. Additionally, it is possible that Javascript may be disabled or obstructed by an extension or browser.

Does Faerie Fire give advantage on spell attacks?

Faerie Fire is a powerful spell that creates a dim light within a 20-foot cube, affecting all creatures and objects within the cube. This gives them disadvantages on Dexterity checks and attackers advantage on attack rolls against them. Faerie Fire can be used in combat, social interactions, and performances to gain an advantage. It prevents affected creatures or objects from benefiting from invisibility. Offensively, Faerie Fire can be used to gain an advantage on attacks against enemies, making it easier for the party to target them and counter invisible enemies.

Does faerie fire affect saving throws?

The spell delineates the manifestation of objects within a 20-foot cube, illuminated by blue, green, or violet light. Any creature situated within the designated area is compelled to undertake a Dexterity saving throw, with the probability of success being contingent upon the creature’s Dexterity score. In addition, the affected creatures and objects emit a faint luminosity within a 10-foot radius for the duration of the spell’s effect. Attack rolls against affected creatures or objects enjoy an advantage if they can be seen, while invisible creatures or objects are unable to benefit.

Does Sunder stack with Faerie Fire?

In the period following the Cataclysm, the effects of Faerie Fire are comparable to, but do not stack with, the effects of the following armours: Protection Warriors’ Sunder Armour, Assassination Rogues’ Expose Armour, Hunters’ Raptors’ Tear Armour, and Hunters’ Serpents’ Corrosive Spit.

Does Darkness cancel Faerie Fire?

The Darkness spell functions to dispel the Faerie Fire, thereby ensuring that any Faerie Fire entering or exiting the designated Darkness area is effectively eliminated upon its return.

  • I recently played a Mage on a TBC Private Server and as soon as I had 2 T5 pieces I rerolled to Arcane and I was pretty much in the top 3 DPS Spots in almost every boss fight during SSC, TK, MH and BT Progression and I also dominated the dps logs in Zul Aman. Only in Sunwell Mages start to fall behind and cant really keep up with hunters anymore. We did have great support with Shadow Priests, Ele Shamans and from time to time Innervates tho and without these tools its gonna be hard to be on top of the dps meter. But if you do get supported like that you have the potential to outdps every other class even in longer bossfights.

  • “damn mages and their aoe farms” tbc launches: “I can’t wait to make a prot paladin to aoe farm since no aoe cap” warlocks at max : “haha seed of corruption go brrrr, warlocks always best” I wonder if they would aoe cap flamestrike and consecrate or something with aoe farming for mage. They saw how Mages effected classic, TBC could be similar with paladins.

  • I’ve played on Endless for a bit, and can say that Mages are among the most desired ranged dps in dungeons still. Sheep, Table and int buff, along with respectable damage makes them more desirable than say a hunter. A hunter can deal a bit more damage, sure, but he can’t counterspell, sheep, and make godlike food. A warlock might too, but they just don’t bring that much utility anymore. Fear is not a good substitute. And most dungeon dont have a lot of demons to be banished either.

  • Does anyone remember exactly how the BG PvP gearing worked back then? I never did any arena in current TBC but I did do boatloads of battlegrounds, and I specifically sort of remember buying stuff like the Merciless set with honor but I know that Merciless was the arena set. Im sure it was a season behind, or was it just a lesser version of the current at the time arena Merciless or what?

  • I played a mage throughout the original TBC. I was always ahead of the hunters and usually ahead of the warlocks. It seems like there’s new meta and a belief things will be different this time, but we’ll see. A fun story: a group of mages in my guild formed a 5-man arena team during season 2 to get weapons (because of weak tier 5 itemization). We were all terrible at pvp so we just played it for laughs: everyone Invisibility at the start, then pop trinkets + Arcane Power and got nuts with AOE. We usually lost of course but when we won it was *hilarious*…

  • Something you forgot to mention was how important the crafted gear is for mage. If you have all 6 crafted pieces, you don’t really replace any of it until T6 simply because it has better effects than anything T4 and 5 can give you. Hunter is another example of not wanting to replace any major pieces until T6 because the dungeon 4-set is crazy strong and the crafted gear is also really strong when compared to T4 and 5 gear.

  • The arcane/frost spec is not just x3 AB x1 FB. It is x3 AB, cast frostbolt until the debuff has the same duration as a cast of AB. Cast AB but time it just so that AB goes off at the same time the debuff falls off so that AB cast not only benefits from the increased damage multiplier but doesn’t suffer the mana cost because the debuff fell off. It’s a weird and extremely timing sensitive rotation but if you can do it just right then this spec does a butt ton of single target damage.

  • @ WillE Should have emphasized a little more on the effort required to play an Arcance Mage compared to the other specs. Their potential is truly unlocked depending on the player’s willingness to go the extra mile. Arcane mages from the very beginning have an obstacle they need to overcome (mana issue) before even moving forward. They have a higher barrier of entry basically.

  • I remember that lovely meta gem that had a chance to give 50% less casting time on spells. It had so great proc rate too, and procced from trinkets aswell. Playing arcane pretty much always guaranteed a proc just from popping CDs. Used to play pom pyro mage with a BM Hunter in 2v2 arena. Was fun that we nuked paladins before they even hade time to bubble

  • I played Arc/Frost during TBC. Loved the spec especially when geared properly. I actually geared like a Priest with MP/5 to the point where around the middle of T5 I could spam frostbolts and actually get mana back. Rotation was stack blast until maxed, pop CDs, blast until OOM, mana pot, blast until OOM, evocate, blast until OOM, frostbolt until mana pot was off CD, pot, blast, frostbolt, repeat until evocate was off CD, evocate, blast, and basically just keep this up until fight was over. Was top DPS in my guild through most of BT this way. Eventually our locks started beating me, but it took a lot longer than it should have.

  • A few things WillE: 1) I love you trying some scripted humor, I’d say just go in even deeper on it! Don’t dip your toe in, go for the cannon ball. Maybe take a shot of whiskey before recording the voice over😂 2) This series so far has rocked, you’re overall production is getting better and better, appreciate you putting in the time. 3) The thing everyone overlooks with Mages in TBC is the influx of Locks and Hunters; Sure, objectively speaking, Mages are still decent, but with removal of the dead zone, Hunters now along with Warlocks really fuck you up. Shadow priests and druids too. 😞

  • Part of me wants to really play my Warrior in TBC but gear competition and uselessnes in pvp (Me being shit too) is putting me off. Its just very satisfying to smash and see big numbers as a warrior. But ill probably go with my mage however for some reason i can’t stick with mage for long, i am so damn torn.

  • mages are still very good boosters, mages are very strong in begining to the end. And strongest in pvp. Support with fire for best dps casters warlocks is also super strong and very needed. You can literally sell your service to HC dungeons as frost mages are rarer then usual. Mages are still VERY strong just like in classic.

  • I think people are going to be really shocked by how good mage is in T5, and also how little they actually do go backwards. They become better than warriors and rogues, while warlocks and hunters go past them, and for a good chunk of T5 they are the best. AoE cap kind of sucks, but they are still one of two kings of AoE in a raid setting. They’re still amazing to farm with and there’s every chance the power boost meta is still possible, even with the cap. You get a heap of quality of life bonuses like table and spell steal, and you can literally play all three specs. My opinion is that overall they actually improve… and the biggest thing is that they become WAY more fun. TBC is a great time to be a mage albeit (potentially) less raid spots. If raids are faster than expected don’t be surprised if arcane blast becomes the new meta.

  • The only problem mages have in TBC is that warlocks exist in TBC. Yes, they are pretty good. But there isn’t any way to make them better than a warlock, especially if the fights last as long as they probably will with pre-nerf bosses. Kael world first took like 18-20 minutes, and that was after nerfs to health values

  • I wish my memory was better but Arcane missiles were a core part of the Arcane rotation before Arcane was nerfed in 2.2. This is one of those things you probably had to be around during retail to see as AFAIK all the private servers are 2.4.3 so well after it was nerfed down. Arcane Missiles was used to proc clearcasting to manage mana consumption and build charges for Arcane Blast from.. the 4 set? Shit I can’t even remember. Can’t find it on the talent tree, there was something that built charges which you could unleash. Pre-nerf Lightning Capacitor? Shit, I’m getting old. But the point is that pre-nerf Arcane Mages were doing around 20% more DPS than anyone else, they were the core DPS engine for Tier 5 content. The nerf brought Arcane down to being on par with Fire and it didn’t scale as well (being tied to an eventually outclassed tier set bonus).

  • As a long time fire mage in tbc pve, I often feel emasculated by arcane mages. Also, I basically end up looking like a warlock, because off-set raid items have better stats for fire than tier5. I don’t mind this, but I feel like I will have to switch to arcane if I really want to be considered a good mage. Switching to arcane requires replacing my spell hit gear, though, and getting MORE intellect. So it’s not a quick and easy spec swap.

  • You didn’t even show the Arcane/fire spec, skip out on firepower and get mind mastery instead, 25% of your intellect converted to spell power having 550 intellect or so will be +125-150 sp. With this spec, with 0 points in frost your frostbolts even crit for 3.5k dmg. Arcane explosion crits for 1k-1.2k without arcane power even up, with arcane power/berserker buff 2k crit arcane explosions. you can do 8-9k POM Pyros with trinket/arcane power and clearcasting proc. players only have 10k-12k hp fully geared. you can also swap out the master of elements in fire for improved scorch on this build. Arcane fire is THE spec for pvp and pve, clearcasting will grant +30% spell crit chance which is basically the same thing as frost’s shatter talent might as well be 100% chance, clearcasting procs off molten armor so if you’re aoeing it will have 100% uptime nearly. legacy-wow. com/tbc-talents/mage-talents/?tal=2300052302210150330125051510201200300100000000000000000000000000000

  • Mage benefits in Bc : – 3 minute 1 shot combos which no one can survive, not even tanks – fast Heroic aoe dungeon farm – super fast levling to 70 Negatives: – people beg you for water/food and table every single bg – people constantly beg you for portals – if you own someone in a duell they will message you privat that your class is easy and that you still suck

  • Mages are top dps in T5 with the right setup as you’ve mentioned (SP+Shaman). You don’t want more than two, but there are 1-2 innervates available a lot of the times. The feral is usually offtank during this phase and the restro simply doesn’t need it. In our guild (private server) it’s the mage, that is always on top of the dps chart. Also consider that arcane mages don’t have threat issues just like warlocks and might even be able to drink during a boss fight with there invis (although I don’t know it that is a private server thing).

  • I played an arcane mage on a private server a while back. Honestly, the damage was SICK – nobody could touch me, but you need a shaman and a shadowpriest in your group. The gearing is a bit weird, as you wanna go for intellect gems, and as i recall, spirit gems once you hit T6 gear. And you want those stat-heavy staves, which is fine because everyone else wants the 1h+offhand combos for max spell power.

  • Arcane PvE advertising is the same as you hear from survival hunters. Sure on extremely short fights they can pump out more than their class counterparts. the number of 25 man raid encounters that fall into this category can be counted on one hand as for the t6 arcane missile set bonus. That is a remnant of earlier patch versions than what we will get. Arcane missiles can be immune to cast pushback – like completely 100% immune to dmg pushback from a t1 talent. This was a saving grace for a lot of AoE damage encounter designs before the cast pushback system was completely overhauled for all classes in the game. Set bonuses were tailored based on how players played the classes. That’s for example the same reason why the aq40 hunter set boosts arcane shot spam and has spellpower on it. (in the really early vanilla days aimed shot had a cast time of 3,5 sec plus your weapons base speed – it was a net dmg loss to press a button just to stand there and cast a shot for almost 7 seconds – the arcane missile thing is a similar set bonus based on how mages fought against cast pushback) anyway – another nicely done article. Keep up the good work

  • Yeah PvE side usually there 2 mages in a raid group maybe 3. However the DPS of em is really decent and in SWP can be NO1 even. Arcane mage is erm i’ve seen them only in dungeons never seen arcane ever in any raiding content the mana is the issue even in SWP the mages group get’s the shadowpriest to maximize the DPS of em (Firespec ofc) and Fire not nearly mana hungry as arcane.

  • I promised in my class picking guide that I’d cover races, so here it is! Professions are the last big thing that I want to cover, but I’m going to wait until we have more details as there’s too much patch-dependent stuff up in the air right now. If you spot any errors or have anything to add go ahead!

  • I can condense this… Pick what you prefer! Seriously it’s that simple. Read the description try to understand the racial perks in case it effects your decision it rarely does, we are visual creature (^0) and then pick your preferred race. 😛 Not completely happy after hit level 15 or 16, pick another race. You’re not limited to one character you can have many and a favourite will emerge from the characters you have.

  • I love this article! I think shadow guard needs a tiny bit more love though, because (just like lightning shield) if you remember to cast it right before you drink (or like 20 sec before you get in a fight) then its damage per mana spent ratio is the highest in the game at 0 mana spent. So its free damage! You could think of it like “this ability reduces every mob or player youll ever fight’s health by x for free with no global”. Though its a tiny chore to keep casting but i suppose you could make a macro that includes it somehow.

  • You mentioned that haste scales better with Seal of Blood vs vengeance, but only mentioned how it affects Vengeance… Im quite new to “stat calculating” instead of just picking higher numbers, so how does the haste combine with Seal of Blood specifically? 🙂 You just hit it more often/faster, simple as that?

  • hey Mad, So is this a min-max article about races or not? You say no but then say yes. Also,: ~2:14min im pretty sure “eek out” dps and min-max is the same. I’m sorry Mad but even by slightly serious standards you missed TONS of things, like the BiS PvE healing race being Troll…pretty basic stuff. You said you’ll list the racials but then make claims.

  • TDLR version for how it will really be. Lots of rerolls and Alliance being a dead faction. Horde are BIS in PvP and PVE. Dwarf racial gets nerfed to not remove blind and Horde priests get fear ward making them useless. Warlocks and Priests (and warriors to a lesser degree) are god tier in pvp which makes WOTF stronger than it was in vanilla. Alliance paladins suck cus ret and holy has no interrupt and BE does and seal of blood is stupidly better. Alliance shamans suck because shamans already have a ton of hit talents and the orc racial works with spells and melee in TBC. Gnomes are decent as warriors, but Taurens can auto swing through pillars in arena and stun people with stunherald and when running around a pillar is half the skill in the mini game it’s broken. The only class you can make an argument to roll in both pve and pvp is a human rogue. Rogues SUCK at PVE in TBC until glaives (biggest guild drama item in history of WoW ) and you will be lucky to be the only one in a guild allowed to raid. You are not required for any fight and only useful in 1. Council in Black Temple with PvP gloves for interrupting. Human Rogue IS nice vs rogue mirrors and gnome mage if you are only playing that comp, but far worse when playing with other classes poor vs lock comps and priest rogue is a very common comp which makes Undead a push or better. So enjoy the 80/20 population difference. All Paladins will reroll. All girls and fabulous dudes will reroll (belves). All hardcore pvp players on alliance will reroll.

  • >Alliance players: HORDE RACIALS ARE SO GOD DAMN OP, ALLIANCE RACIALS ARE TRASH!!! >Also Alliance players: Stoneform, Perception, %-Based stat increases, Escape Artist, Fear Ward, Shadowmeld go brrrrrrrr Honestly, Shadowmeld in particular is so massively underrated its actually criminal. you can use it as a NE hunter to basically turn into a ranged rogue assuming you got a cat pet, you can use it to eat/drink in stealth, you get stealth bonus as druid/rogue and you can guard flags in BG unseen by using it to lame when people are trying to tag, let them stand there tagging for 4 seconds, then hit them with an instant cast. super underappreciated racial. not to mention that you can set up a memebush (ambush) as a group of night elves if you’re corpsecamping… everyone goes into shadowmeld and when the dude ressurects, everyone breaks out to kill the guy(s) that just ressed up thinking they were out of danger. this is particularly useful on frequently used roads like the valley that leads from Badlands into Searing Gorge. and if you’re a player who made a priest solely with the intent of dispelling people in orgrimmar its literally the best racial in the game.

  • I doubt THAT many people were still on dial-up in 2007 but it was a funny joke and good point nonetheless. DSL and cable were somewhat primitive at that time as well. Oddly enough when I tried dial-up on laptops, nothing could disconnect it. People would try to call and it wouldn’t get through. I suspect either disconnecting is a feature of external modems or certain landlines which is not the type of landline we had but of course ours was still analog until we finally discontinued it and got VOIP with our cable internet as well as switched away from DSL. Also, admittedly I have mained an orc lock since Classic vanilla because orcs are my favorite fantasy and overall WarCraft race and lock seemed like a cool and useful class but this is very informative overall.

  • About seal of blood vs seal of command: PVE: No matter how much better seal of blood is, if your guild is at least semi-hardcore, no way it would take more than 1 retribution paladin, be it blood elf or human or dwarf or whatever. Why take another ret, when you can have another hunt or lock. On the other hand, any guild will NEED one ret pala to judge crusade and update holy/prot palas’ judgements. So it doesn’t matter what your dps it, your guild wants one and only one ret paladin, it doesn’t matter if it’s Horde of Alliance. And if your guild is pure casual, it would take people, not specs, so even a drunk dwarf paladin would be ok. PVP: Blood elves use seal of command in pvp. End of story, really. The main problem with paladins in pvp is their predictability. Seal of blood makes paladin 100% predictable. Retribution paladin wins arena with seal of command (and windfury totem) procs. The only place where seal of blood vs seal of command will matter is parses on 3rd party websites.

  • 32 minutes “race picking guide”? Seriously? No offense MadSeason, I really admire your work, luv your voice and your website, but I don’t think anybody needs a race picking guide . Hear my much shorter race picking guide : PICK WHICHEVER RACE YOU LIKE! This is a role playing game. If you pick a class which you like, which suits to your playstyle, why wouldn’t you do the same when you choose race?

  • Something not mentioned is how much better music is in the horde zones. Just hearing it in this article makes you realize how much better music is if you choose horde (and yes I play with music on mostly). But I felt like I had better community experiences on the Alliance side, so I’m tempted to go alliance in BC. I just wish their music didn’t suck.

  • I loved Seal of Vengeance during TBC as a human paladin. I leveled as holy, and it scaled very well with spell damage. When I switched to protection, it was great to spread that DoT around for increased threat on multiple mobs. I never played retribution during TBC, so I never knew how much worse it was, but it worked great for PVE.

  • The smooth voice turns out to be really fitting for this overall article IMO. (Slightly whispering style). How the different stuffs in the article come together is well done. Such as zooming in slowly, step by step pictures for the explanations, etc. Good job! If you need some critical feedback: Perhaps adding a few chapters via yt function. (it’s good for when you lost track,or were occupied for a minute or two somewhere else) Keep on showing just stuff that you talk about – that’s a core part of high quality article making IMO. (with few exceptions such as introduction perhaps) Self notice: 26:10 priests and paladins – i had to watch this one twice as I didn’t know what it was about at first.

  • TBC is gonna be amazing and hilarious. People complaining about 15 minute dampener games in Slands havent seen arenas going on until server crashes on TBC private servers rofl. Regardless, I’m so excited to play it again and make guides to help the community get a better grasp of what to pick for whatever aspect of the game they wish to play. 🙂 Love the vid Mad, keep it up

  • Don’t get me wrong, i understand that people are hyped for older expansions .. But people wanted classic for YEARS, then they overplayed it/finished everything within a few months, now they want TBC. What i’m trying to say is, the same will happen after a few months of TBC, or after all content is cleared ” Omg i can’t wait for WOTLK! “

  • if the PTR seal twisting gets into classic bc, seal of vengeance might be better and close the gap between bloodelf and alliance paladin dps. As it stands now in PTR you can sealtwist different ranks of the same seal. That means you can twist the vengeance dot and seal of command at the same time and once youre at 5 stacks you only need to twist it into your rotation once every 15 seconds to refresh the dot, and otherwise just twist seal of command with itself.. as far as i know seal of blood only has one rank, meaning you cant twist it with itself. That would mean once the 5 stack dot is applied, alliance will have vengeance damage and double seal of command, while bloodelf has the same thing they did in vanilla tbc.. Pretty crazy imo. Combine that with alliance paladins just using dark runes to get mana and then being healed for even more mana.. seal of blood doesnt seem like that big a deal anymore. But obviously neither the ptr changes nor tbc are confirmed. I just found it fun to think about.

  • Nelfs racials to me have always seemed to be for negating damage completely. Both the active and passive they have kind of fall in line with that. Also shadowmeld is an underappreciated racial imo. It has lots of hidden utility. I found myself surviving where I would have otherwise died plenty of times in raiding and pvp environments thanks to it. Just gotta know how and when to use it. Also Nelfs are taller than orcs.

  • I’m rolling warrior for PvP and I’d say this: – Night elf if you wanna be a badass charging people in battlegrounds from the shadows (super effective at guarding flags in AB) – Gnome if you hate mages and wanna improve that matchup. – Undead if you hate warlocks (berserker rage removes fear but not charm, which makes UD good vs warlock but meh against priest) – Tauren if you want an overall good race. The stun is good in most scenarios, the extra hp is nice and the extra attack range is cool for bigger whirlwinds in battlegrounds.

  • Man I wish undead was alliance race, it would make the most broken rogues, no dwarfs to go against and every warlock to fuck with. You ask about orcs? It’s simple: they wear cloth? Pump dmg. Do they wear mail or plate? Find a clothie. Leather? Honor among the thieves, leave your buddy or hunt the fucker if he had broken the code.

  • 11:59 That downside doesn’t happen until so late into the expansion, and until so many months and years have passed, that I think it’s a total non-issue. How many human players will reach exalted with every faction? Less than 1% of them. How many human players will save dozens of hours of rep grinding thanks to this? All of them.

  • I knew belf was the best race for horde melees but I was not goin to lvl til tbc came ou lawl. Did engineering bombs work in tbc? I went eng on my rogue because of how that was useful in PvP but I’d guess they dont work in arena. If they dont idk if I want to unlearn both professions for LW or keep mining and just swap to BS for weapons; what’s your tip on that? thanks lul.

  • I started in bc on Ally as a nelf hunter. Not my choice but on a pvp server where horde out number you 5:1 choose a balanced server. Oceanic has a low player base in classic. I have a 76 year old in my guild who loves crafting and one thing you have not mention yet is the guild bank and hints if Blizzard will drop the cost of flying. If they dont, im done not doing that crap again.

  • I think you missed the mark on Gift of the Naaru. This spell has a lot of positives that you didn’t cover. First up, it costs no mana to cast, so it does not trigger the 5 second mana regen rule. It supposedly scales really well with +healing. And most importantly, it’s not in any spell school, so you can use it in PvP to bait out kicks and counterspells, especially as Paladin and Priest, and not get locked out of healing.

  • I think I’m going to stick with my plan I did during Classic…Alliance Night Elf Hunter and Horde (new blood elf) Warlock. The only catch is that there are two new appealing classes to me in TBC: Rogue and Priest. Priest because in TBC discipline was given a lot of love. They are the team player. Shadow also got massive buffs and are more wanted in raids. Rogues were always good/overpowered. I just didn’t like playing them before they got cloak of shadows. I hated not being able to re-stealth because some low damage over time spell was ticking away. Cloak of Shadows is a busted ability if you think about it. It’s a 6 second immunity to spells on a minute cooldown. Other than that, Mutilate was always a cool ability. Not sure what its like at level 70 in raids as I never got my rogue to 70 back in TBC. Shadowstep isn’t quite cool enough until it is usable on team mates. I forget when that change was made…WOTLK? Cataclysm? Or even later? I really can’t recall. In order of priority I will be a: Blood Elf Warlock, Night Elf Hunter, Human (? undecided) Priest and Blood Elf rogue. All the other classes I have much less interest in. I also forgot how underrated Chastise was for dwarves. Priests one weakness was a lack of crowd control. Adding in a root would drastically help them in many matches. Before, when a Warrior jumped on you, you were dead. Now you can root them and potentially save yourself/ keep him off you long enough for help to arrive. Final note (this wall of text is big enough).

  • Shadowguard is super undervalued, speaking from playing a troll priest in classic in pvp…. Shadow guard out shines devouring plague because of how little of a mana cost it has. With spell power it’s so much dmg that can keep being reapplied. Idk how many times my blackout has proc’d on a rogue trying to jump me because my shadowguard ticked! Great article btw!

  • A bit of fun, if irrelevant, math on the base stats of the races. If you add up the stat totals, this is how they come out: Alliance Horde Human – 101 Orc – 102 Dwarf – 99 Undead – 101 Night Elf – 101 Tauren – 99 Gnome – 101 Troll – 101 Draenei – 100 Blood Elf – 100 In other words, Orcs are indeed the master race, and by extension the Horde is superior to the Alliance, lol.

  • One thing that MadSeason forgot to mention is Base Stats. This doesn’t matter for most races, but most notably this matters for Alliance with Night Elves, who have 24 agi, compared with 20 for Human, 16 for Dwarves, and 17 for Draenei. The meme in Classic is that this therefore makes Night Elves theoretically the top DPS for Dagger Rogues. Whereas the Human Sword racial is definitely BiS. It’s much more important in Classic for Hunters though, as it is 8 extra agi over Dwarves, which amounts to 8/53 Crit chance and 16 Ranged Attack power over Dwarves. Whereas the Dwarf gun racial is worthless unless you can get an additional +1 weapon skill (you need +6 for 1% hit chance). In addition, most BiS weapons are not guns in Classic so even then it wouldn’t be useful. In TBC, they changed agi for hunters, 1 agi = 1 RAP, and 1/40 crit. This makes the racial equal to 8 RAP and 0.2% extra crit over Dwarves, and 7 RAP and 7/40 extra crit over Draenei. If you are using a gun (and guns are definitely more useful in TBC, and often times guns may be BiS according to sims – although of course the legendary bow is probably hard BiS in the last phase), Dwarf probably edges it out, and Draenei’s racial is definitely better (1% hit), but it is kind of like Ateish, in that it might not be BiS if you have a Draenei of the right class in your group. In short for Alliance hunters in PvE: No Draenei (needs to be Hunter/Warrior/Paladin) in group -> BiS race is Draenei Draenei in group, not using a gun -> BiS race is Night Elf for the agi Draenei in group, using a gun -> BiS race is Dwarf for the 1% crit
