Here is a short video that will allow you to learn a little more about Medical Grade Manuka Honey and where to purchase it.

Which manuka honey is authentic?

The UMF Trademark, or “Unique Mānuka Factor”, is the only independently recognized quality trademark and grading system in the mānuka market. It signifies the product’s purity and quality, with higher levels indicating higher purity. The UMF grade reflects the actual purity of the honey and verifies that it has been independently tested to define the chemical markers found in mānuka honey: Methylglyoxal, Leptosperin, and DHA.

Methylglyoxal is often the only factor measured by producers, but it can be artificially added, allowing regular honey to claim to be mānuka honey. Therefore, it is crucial to look for the UMF Trademark on the label to ensure the authenticity of mānuka honey.

What level of Manuka honey should I buy?

Rowse advises purchasing a minimum of 100+ MGO Manuka honey to ensure authenticity. They acknowledge the difficulty in choosing the right strength and the need for a substantial amount of MGO in each jar. As there are no UK guidelines for Manuka honey grades, they suggest using the UMF Honey Association’s definition of authentic Manuka, which outlines the minimum amount of naturally occurring chemicals found in the nectar of Manuka flowers for the honey to be authenticated as Manuka.

What strength manuka honey for cough?

Manuka honey, particularly high MGO medicinal Manuka honey, is a natural and effective solution for coughs and sore throats. It is recommended to start with one to two teaspoons of Manuka honey twice daily for dry and nocturnal coughs, gradually reducing the dosage as symptoms improve. Switching to Everyday Strength Manuka honey can enhance overall health and immunity. For sore throats, mix a teaspoon of Manuka honey with warm water, lemon juice, and gargle. Avoid giving honey to children under 1 and those with known allergies. Manuka honey’s unique properties make it a valuable addition to both traditional and modern medicine.

Is Manuka honey really worth it?

Manuka honey, renowned for its elevated levels of antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antioxidant characteristics, is extensively utilized in a multitude of applications, including food products, skincare, and pharmaceuticals, across the globe. The health benefits of this product make the price justifiable. The Ministry for Primary Industries offers detailed information on the production and processing of honey bee products.

Are all brands of Manuka honey the same?

Manuka honeys exhibit a range of strength levels, with the most commonly utilized grading systems being UMF (Unique Manuka Factor) and MGO (Manuka Glycerine Output). The 5+ to 10+ range is recommended for those seeking a natural sweetener that supports a healthy lifestyle, while the 15+ to 20+ range is more potent and suitable for everyday health and wellness. Select the most appropriate grading system to meet your requirements.

What strength of manuka honey is best?

However, the UMF Honey Association has established a widely supported definition of authentic Manuka, which determines the minimum quantity of naturally occurring chemicals found in the nectar of Manuka flowers that must be present in the honey to be authenticated as Manuka.

Which manuka honey is medical grade?

Manuka honey is regarded as the most efficacious medical-grade honey due to its exceptionally high UMF™ grades (UMF™ 26+ and UMF™ 28+). In selecting an appropriate honey for medical use, it is crucial to ascertain whether a sterilized honey is required for a specific purpose or if a natural, unadulterated option is preferred. The company’s objective is to provide the most palatable and beneficial mānuka honey from New Zealand, free from artificial additives, in accordance with the natural composition of the product.

Is manuka honey any better than ordinary honey?

Manuka honey has medicinal properties, including antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, making it useful for treating wounds, burns, coughs, and colds. Its bitter taste and strong smell are due to higher levels of methylglyoxal compounds, while regular honey is sweet and may contain additives or sweeteners. Manuka honey is made by bees exclusively gathering nectar and pollen from the manuka tree, while regular honey is made from various types of flowers. Honey’s antioxidant and antibacterial properties contribute to wound healing, and it helps keep the wound environment moist.

Is it okay to eat Manuka honey every day?

  • I think different remedies may work for different people. For instance, I tried 6 different remedies and none of them worked for me… UNTIL I tried avocado oil… DIRECTLY INTO MY EYES. It didn’t cause any pain at all but it was the FIRST time I had such relieve from dry eyes. And the effect lasted all day long, whereas with the other products, I was directed to use a couple of drops in each eye 3 OR 4 TIMES PER DAY! Who has time for that? So now I get up in the morning, squirt a drop of avocado oil in each eye and I’m good for the entire day. And boy, oh boy does it work! No scratchy eyes, no red eyes, no dry sensation at all.

  • Great article! I’ve also been using the Gel and Eyedrops for a couple of months and it helps SO much! It does hurt a lot, but not for long. After the pain stops, my eyes turn the tears on like a tap, so i always have a tissue handy. My eyes have never felt better. I do recommend trying these if you can 🙂

  • We have three hives. We have enjoyed them and the process of extracting honey for years. They opened a sealed honey jar they found in a tomb in Egypt a few years ago. It was untouched and, apparently, delicious. Honey is anti fungal, antiviral, antibacterial and anti inflammatory. If you do purchase honey, get it from a local source preferred from a local bee keeper. DO NOT FEED YOUR BABY or TODDLER HONEY!!!!

  • Oh my goodness that look painful, when I’ve learned about honey changing eye color drop thought I don’t like the idea putting it in my eyes since I have a poor vision, when I opted to honey as sugar replacement 1 spoon a day no more. From August 9 to 30, 2021 this present I have been taking a selfie of my eyes, almost weekly or if not I also put dates on it and compared to 9 and now my eyes became more dark hazel than pitch brown black just comsuming it as it is. I use honey an a healthy option and the result is just a bonus because I’m trying to gain wait healthily, I hope it’s also true that it makes your eyes vision better I wore glasses already.

  • Years ago, my left eye tear duct had been so badly infected I had to get DCR surgery (tear duct bypass). The doctor did a beautiful job and that eye infection was expensive. Lately, my right eye started doing the same thing. I could feel the opening of the tear duct developing a tiny lump like what happened last time. After being convinced it was safe, I applied a tiny bit of 850+ MGO Manuka honey to the opening of the tear duct and inside of the lower lid. THE BURN WAS INCREDIBLE! After about a minute, it subsided and my eye actually felt better. I found that each time now when I apply the Manuka honey the burning and stinging has reduced in its intensity. That tiny hard lump that had formed is nearly gone now. This was after 4 treatments in one day. My eye is feeling much better. I can only assume the intial intense burn was the honey killing off the bacterial infection. The burning and stinging of the subsequent applications had progressively reduced to hardly a thing now.

  • Sorry, I looked up ‘inferior fornix’ and it looks like the place where you put the gel in the first instance? I guess I am missing something. Where exactly did you put it the second time, at 5’07”? I have been using the honey eye drops and, while I no longer have styes popping up every few days in the lower lid, I still have chalazia in the upper lids. They look less inflamed and swollen than before using the honey, but they are still there. How can I make sure that the honey (whether in eye drop or gel form) gets under the upper eye lid, where the chalazia are? Also, I struggle to apply it as eye drops. Sometimes, part of it leaks out of my eye. Indeed, while sometimes it burns a fair amount, other times it does not burn at all, which makes me suspect in the latter case the drops do not really get into the eye as they should.

  • Started using drops and gel other dsy chronic dry eye already .I tried everything pytting warm vompress even irritated.stinging is ph differance atvgirdt.Your eyes dtibg lesd and less.I already am seeing differance. Its beesvgathering pollen from tea tree plants very healing .I am excitex was scared to desth at first abti bacterial anti inflamatary what more could u ask for😂❤

  • Can anyone answer whether this would help someone like me who have severe Keratoconus in both eyes with astigmatism? I will be getting a corneal transplant in my right eye this year. I am just afraid of putting the honey in my eyes since I have severe dry, sensitive eyes but want to try something different and natural.

  • It is what my grandpa did me every week. He would put a drop of honey into a sip of water, and some leaf (some leaf that we put on India chewing paan). He would use the foot of the cigarette and drop into my eye. I never felt much better. There were a lot of tear coming out, but I can notice the clear vision.

  • Hello brother brother I tried to find Manuka honey eye drop and eye cream but here I couldn’t find I tried everywhere so please-please tell me one thing I want to ask you. can I use Manuka Honey direct in my eyes because I have Manuka honey but not official eye drop and eye cream so can I use to Manuka honey in the eyes or not. please inform me regarding that. I ASKED TO ANITHER BODIES ALSO BUT NO ONE GAVE REPLY. thank

  • Tried a Manuka honey drop off of Amazon, a brand from Casa Botanica (100% MIEL, whatever that means). No idea what concentration the honey level is, but I find it impossibly painful to use. Imagine getting pepper sprayed or a dash of Texas Pete Hot Sauce in each eye. Agony for about 3 or 4 minutes. So, yeah, feels great after the burning stops, right?
