Don’T Propagate Conspiracies On The Babel?

Isaiah 8:12-9:7 emphasizes the importance of not calling everything a conspiracy and not fearing what people call it. This verse is particularly relevant for individuals who believe in supernatural or paranormal beliefs, as they are more likely to endorse such theories. Christian belief can act as an effective buffer against the harmful spread of conspiracy theories, as Christian nationalists sense that the nation is under cultural threat and biblical literalism provides an alternative source of information.

The QAnon conspiracy theory is more popular among evangelicals than people of other religions, according to a study by the conservative American Enterprise Institute. By understanding the world of Scripture, we can approach conspiracies today and illuminate conspiracy rumormongering through the lens of Christian psychology. The core of anxiety lies in the message that Christ is sending his disciples out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.

Conspiration theories often flourish during times of uncertainty, and Christians should be aware of their potential dangers. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to the spread of conspiracy theories, and critical thinking is crucial to a biblical view of knowledge. A Facebook debate between a retired ELCA Pastor friend and a former parishioner over her spreading a conspiracy theory related to the Covid-19 has also been a topic of discussion. Researchers were motivated by growing concern over the harmful effects of conspiracy theories, such as the spread of misinformation.

  • Thank you for sharing. I was raised Catholic but always questioned it’s teachings. I’ve never felt comfortable or felt like I belonged. I’ve read the Bible several times and still questioned it’s teachings. I then started reading and reading about different cultures and their beliefs. All concepts are similar yet different in different ways. I believe in a higher power of good and oneness. Blessings to all.

  • Ever since I was a young child I could never accept religion, especially in the way it was presented in Christian churches. It never resonated with me. I saw judgment, shame, fear and control coming from the mouths of people who did not act in the way they preached. “You will get it one day,” I was told. “You are simply too young and naïve.” Though the older I have gotten, the more I have realized that my instincts have always been spot on.

  • Boy oh boy does this describe how I see the bible. I had an unexpected and accidental enlightenment experience. I saw that what I thought I was, I had never been. There’s something bigger out there, and we’re all one with it. It can be described by, but not contained by any religion. I believe Jesus must have felt it constantly, and just wanted to show us how to experience it.

  • I felt and found god independently of any religion and always found it hard to make sense of the church but when i found god i can’t explain it like an overwhelming sense of existence the rhythm of the universe was running through me and as i gave him thanks and lived my life with love and compassion it grew stronger and I’ve never read the bible the way to live and treat people was clear it felt natural and luckily i never had guilt forced on me by the church.

  • Greetings! I’m a septuagenarian who was raised in a secular household and encouraged to simply look around and study and make up my own mind about religion, and I did. I was a pilot in Vietnam and got shot down and stood in a rice paddy with bullets hitting the water around me and simply hoped they would miss. I’ve always considered all religions to be the product of fear of death and they belong somewhere between silliness and superstition. Best of luck to all of us and thanks for sharing the article!

  • Alan Watts, the maestro of Eastern philosophy and the art of living, reminds us that life is not a problem to be solved, but a mystery to be embraced. His profound teachings invite us to let go of our rigid perceptions, dive into the depths of existence, and dance with the ever-changing rhythms of the universe. Through his wisdom, we find liberation in accepting the impermanence of life and discovering the beauty in every moment. Thank you, Alan Watts, for guiding us towards a deeper understanding of ourselves and the interconnectedness of all things.

  • When my awakening happened the only context I knew was through the religious one I was raised. But i always felt the creator was so much more than that. That was 26 years ago and Ive spent that whole time trying to figure it out. This article allowed me to feel that I’m not crazy and that my view of the creator is unique to me. And more importantly, it can be experienced without guilt, if your search is true. Thank you for this article.

  • Raised a Christian all my life, forced into it since I was a baby, never really fully believed and didn’t know why. I tried to lie to myself I did but I couldn’t. I felt it was all about control, fear, and guilt rather than love, compassion, no judgmental. It’s hard to shake off but I feel closer to God (the source) now more than ever. I’m still growing spiritually (just started a months ago) but I feel more calm and at peace

  • Seek and ye shall find. Knock and the door shall be opened. I’ve been seeking for about 6 months because I had so many questions that I was afraid to ask due to my 47 years of Christian background, and I am completely blown away by all of the information I am learning as I continue to dig. I honestly feel that I am seeking in my heart and I am being shown the truth. All of this makes so much more sense and answers many of my questions compared to the answers I get from any religous follower that have more experience than myself or any preacher both local or all those on Youtube. Here are a few questions I had after “trying” to get through the first 5 books of the old testament without being confused for the 2nd time (the first time I tried to read, it scared the crap out of me, I put the book down and went back into my box.) Here I am, 7 years later trying again and I feel no different than I did back then: 1.) How or why are we automatically born into sin? An innocent child coming out of the mother’s womb with no sin is still considered a sinner? What makes this so? 2.) Why was God favoring a certain group of people? Aren’t we all God’s children? Aren’t we all created by God? 3.) Why isn’t the Rapture talked about in Revolations? I always thought it was, but it’s not. Where did this come from? 4.) Why in the New Testiment is there so much talk about food and sacrafice? There was so many references to sacraficing animals. 5.) Why were so many people, including children murdered by God?

  • When I was young I never saw people who looked like me in paintings at churches. I always had questions and never got answers. I was just told to believe. I later began to study on my heritage and ancestors and found that they were spiritual and didn’t pray to a sky daddy and from there I began to see things differently and a lot more clearer. Settlers gave my ancestors a bible and took their land. Thus here we are today in a messed world run by imperialist living under capitalism.

  • Many years ago, I had what i believe was a ‘divine’ experience and I express it like this: “The moment I stopped believing in coincidence, I saw it everywhere”.I recognized that there really is ‘something more’ than this mortal life. In that moment, I stopped believing in any one religion.but saw the necessity for all religions because “Anything that brings any man, woman or child closer to God is a wonderful thing”.

  • In the Gospel of Thomas Jesus says(logion 3):”….. Rather the Kingdom of God is inside of You,and it is outside of You. When you come to know Yourselves then You will become known and You will realize that it is You who are Sons of the living Father. But if You will not know Yourselves You dwell in Poverty and it is You who are that poverty ” This Gospel didn’t make it in the bible even being the earliest Gospel written out of All the known Gospels. But even the New King James Bible is in agreement with the previously mentioned quote by Jesus.Luke 17:20&21:”Now when he was asked by the Pharisees when the Kingdom of God would come,he(Jesus)answered them and said The kingdom does not come with observation nor will they say see here or see there for indeed the Kingdom of God is Within You” This is in direct contrast of what most Christians expect with the “End of Days” and the battle of Armageddon. Jesus urged to seek God Within, getting to know Oneself. Wasn’t this apparent when he chose 12 followers?? They were ordinary men. According to the account in Genesis “Sinners” being born that way. And Yet Jesus never rebuked them for being “Sinners ” He did rebuke them for having little faith in performing “miracles” like walking on water etc. He never uttered one word of them being “Sinners ” but as mentioned in the article being “gods”

  • A global awakening and awareness here, so glad to have found this article as it deeply resonates with my thoughts. We’re at a time where we don’t need religions anymore to uphold our beliefs in god. Religions bring about separation, hatred, war, guilt, shame, fear etc.. it’s a package of negatives in exchange for believing in higher power. I am a muslim, and for long ago, my religion is only on paper, I know god exists and I know that the right way of living is to follow the natural order, since then I’ve been witnessing the bliss of truth.

  • After 50+ years of being tortured I’ve finally decided to truly break the chains and free myself. I’ve never felt more peace of mind, yet more anger and frustration towards those that perpetrated this horrible religion on me since a child and had the audacity to pretend it was “holy”! It’s even more sad that children are still being abused by the millions

  • Amen. I have spoken about this for many many years and finally I hear someone saying what I have been saying. Maybe it is my imagination when I thought God said my name is, “IAM”. That is what told me I am also and you are you and and and we are. To me this told me each of us is equally, “IAM.” I can’t explain everything in this because it would take pages and pages of the last 54 years of my life and I know you all don’t want or need to have me share it. It has been a part of my gut all these years and it is nice to have someone say what I have been feeling and sharing over the years. I appreciate but still am guarded to completely subscribe here to everything from this article. I am sure you can appreciate this as you probably do the same. It doesn’t matter what name you give to a God and it doesn’t matter what name you give to your religion. It is only a name. What is the definition of the word, “name”? What the purpose of the name if not to create a means of defining and a means of communication? To learn and to form a way of interacting? IDK everything. I am exploring. I hope you are too. 🙂

  • Dorothy, knowing this Alan Watts speach has been repeatedly posted makes no difference at all, as I never seem to tire of it. As with every single article you post, I love and appreciate it VERY MUCH! You are a beautiful woman and soul of great value!!! I, with all my heart, send you a big hug and kiss on the cheek. Thank you!

  • Do not look at god as a religion. Look at god as the creator of all living things. It is a way of living life, with god in every cell of your being. Learn to use god’s. Energies in your daily life. Be on the same frequency as god, and your life will seem so much easier. Every living thing is gods creation so be kind to it, show love to it, as god the creator of the all knowing has done to you by creating you. Live in harmony with god. 🙏

  • It took me 50 years to learn the truth about life, me, and ultimately our creator. I feel a sense of calm and ease now with all that i’ve gained from meditation and yoga. There is reason for any of us to suffer, we can heal ourselves and will what we want into existence. We are created by the most powerful force and that makes every one of us Gods.

  • Growing up, in a Christian home, I always knew there was more than what I was being taught, and I questioned everything! I believe in The Indivisible Power that flows through me, and all living things. It’s within ourselves, and people waste their entire life’s searching in external circumstances, and being brainwashed by a society that care anything about its citizen, but only power, control, and money. I accept what cannot be proved OR answered. Life Just Is…❤ Even with the tough life I have lived, I am grateful I have learned how to separate the worldly program from my true inner self. Only through meditation and learning how to heal from the past, and building a connection to myself, and other factors of course, has giving me the ability to to tune in to my intuition, see life and people in a different perspective (REALITY), and to experience things that are unexplainable. Everyone has the Invisible Power within themselves, it’s just challenging to tap in when a person has been blocked for so long. As a humans we are taught to believe an explanation for everything. We are conditioned! ❤ May you find Inner Peace, and Enlightenment on your journey in this life.🧘🏻😜

  • I rejected religion very early, like at 10. But my mind still kept questioning. at 19-20 I tried LSD, and psychedelics, and that led me to question even more. I’m 29 now, and have slowly began to realize that no one knows anything. I began demystifying the way I thought about psychedelics and life. The way I used to think about spirituality, and the way many do is all just cope. You don’t need anything outside of yourself, and the present moment. Only you can “save” yourself. Life is what you make it.

  • Wow how neat 👏 now I truly understand. I’m from the Hopi reservation northeastern Arizona and we live a simple life one with the universe one with the GREAT SPIRIT we do not need a church, we do not need a group of people or congregation to pray with, we simply pray from within from our hearts. Living exactly how it is written in the Bible and yeah, we don’t need a Bible either because we are the Bible. MAY THE GREAT SPIRIT BE WITH YOU ALL ALWAYS

  • I tried to live without a faith in a higher being, a meaning with life and everything. It was the darkest, most destructive part of my life that almost killed me and made me suffer a lot. The darkness took over me and made to walk in a path towards ultimate destruction. I would not be alive if I didn’t open my eyes and realize that I am being lied to about that there is no God or meaning, no darkness or evil. I don’t literally believe in religion as it’s written by humans in a different age(some things are wrong in the bible and can be disproven), but I do believe in a higher being that some call God. This faith helps me with everything in my life. It makes life feel more meaningful, me more happy, stronger, smarter, wiser, a best version of myself. While religions have issues (especially fanatics which are blinded by darkness), I also see downsides with atheism. A lot people feel mentally bad, they loose the meaning of life and become destructive and depressed. A lot of decadence, drug abuse to feel some more meaning and less depression. Many loose themself, some even die in this process. We live in a dark time, a faith can help to heal your soul. You don’t need to be religious or believe in religion to believe in “God”. God is within us aswell. It’s the love and light, and our soul.

  • This message is exclusive to those Catholics, Pentacostals and other denominations disillusioned by the Church, but are still seeking some way to shape or express your faith; I highly encourage looking into Gnosticism if you’ve considered all else but wish to remain by God. Gnosticism is more of a guide than an outright Faith, with no explicit rules like the Catholics or Protestants, which incorperates teachings and insights from all the Gospels, not just the ones branded as ‘Canon’ by the first Council of Nicaea 300 years after Christ died. It also resolves many questions and contradictions raised in the nature of the God of the Old Testament (just as removing chapters of a book makes other chapters meaningless and contradictory, the Catholics removing Gospels created “plot holes” and confusion in the way the Bible is interpreted. Instead of issuing strict rules to live by, Gnostics encourage focusing on yourself and that inner Divine Spark rather than any external relation to God, cultivating spiritual knowledge over worship or piety. Yes, the Catholics branded it a heresy. Yes, it sounds like horse s*&t at first until all the pieces of the Bible, Gospels, Apocrypha and Testaments just CLICK together. Yes, there will be people responding to this comment with religious/athiest hate that havent bothered reading the whole thing.

  • The first written accounts of the life of the “messiah” were (allegedly) recorded 50-70 years AFTER the (alleged) crucifixion, depending on which biblical historian you choose to believe. This is a heavily damaging indictment of the legitimacy of the legend, which is all it is, a legend. There’s no direct incontrovertible evidence to substantiate the existence of the person known in old English as Jesus of Nazareth. It requires an enormous amount of faith in the source material presented by the Catholic Church.

  • How do I find friends and people like this? How do I find counselors or teachers or people who think like this article does, that I can help on my :journey” to sacred spiritual awareness. I have exited the christian culture fully, only 3 years ago. Where are “my new people” or people who understand what this teaching is? I can’t find them in bowling alleys, regular churches or at work. How do I evolve and get inner peace and no longer worry about unimportant things?

  • I gave myself permission to let go of it all. I will never let anyone get into my head again . I live my life for me. I kneel to no god. I refuse to feel guilty for sins I did not commit. I will never again utter a prayer. I won’t touch a bible or listen to anyone quoting from one. I AM FREE. Free to shamelessly be me.

  • Religion is not a prerequisite for morality or virtuous conduct. We all are entitled to form our own ideas regarding spiritual concepts, but once you experience the external world as if it were your own body, the fundamentalism of religious concepts falls away. We remain part of the cycle of life and will be absorbed once more after we expire: Nothing is lost: It is an unstoppable process. In the end we all break down into our building blocks, into molecules and finally into atoms. Those same atoms form the basis for the creation of something new. Whatever you become, your existence is infinite – inscription in a Dutch museum. Once we accept this fundamental truth, we no longer feel alien in this world and much more comfortable in our skins. This is how I interpret “afterlife”: living in a different form after my present body expires – continuing as part of nature, as indeed we essentially are.

  • Jesus said, “For, behold, the kingdom of God is within you” in response to the Pharisees asking when the Kingdom of God will come. The saying has numerous explanations including that enlightenment is within you, in your heart, and your spark of God has always been there. God is one consciousness and you are God identifying as you the ego.

  • For me personally, I firmly believe in Jesus Christ as our lord and savior, however, I am non-denominational in faith. Religion can very well be used for control and recent times have shown that. Follow God and God alone. It has become apparent that often, my fellow “Christians” are the strongest arguments against faith. People that use Jesus to hide their demons as opposed to face and destroy them…

  • I started my life as a subject of religion by birth. I was sent to attend Methodist Chapel then became a Choir Boy in the CofE Church, then to become an ‘Altar Boy’ before joining the Military at 16. I am now 66 and have spent much time running around in circles, having denied much due to circumstances of life. This goes a big way in resolving what is the missing ‘piece’ in my jigsaw.

  • Thank you ❤ for posting this. Alan Watts is a master. I have recently experienced what he just described. In my early age, I was Catholic, then in my teens a born again Christian. I’ve gone through so much pain and suffering (health related) and have this tremendous curiosity of life, of it’s purpose and if there is a creator. 6 years ago I saw a sign about meditation at a cancer center at a clinic. That journey led me to science and eastern philosophy (Buddhism, Psychology, Evolutionary Psychology Neuroscience, Hindu, Daoism, Confucianism)). That’s where I ran into books by Alan Watts, Robert Wright and others. articles like this are amazing. I have started to see without the lenses or tint of my human nature. I can see clearly like never before. I Can see what ppl call imperfections but now. I Can see the fleeting nature of feelings and understand why they arise. I Can identify the inner chatter in mind and recognize it’s not me but my Default Mode Network (part of the brain that plans, left hemisphere). Despite my health issues, I accept them as part of this beautiful and miraculous life. And its only the beginning. I know I sound crazy but I can see and definitely experience what Alan Watts is describing. I wish with all my heart you all do as well. I wish you all my success, health, love and no suffering. 🙏🏻 I’ll be sharing this wonderful article with others.

  • I also had the same option. I am a Hindu, but as Alan says Hindus don’t consider Vedas written by God. Hindu does not believe in The God. Instead Hindu consider everyone and everything as God or divine. The issue is that it is hard to realise this. For Hindu the ultimate wish is to realise this and become like Christ and this is called enlightenment.

  • I’m grateful to have understood this from a very young age. For all her faults, my mother managed to teach me the truth of this, and I took up the task to learn more about it. As a musician, I started performing for all kinds of churches, learning their procedures & most of their various teachings. This is why I am of all religions & none of them, and perfectly comfortable worshipping anywhere, with anyone, regardless of their beliefs. If there is an humanistic religion, surely I practice a credible version of it.

  • Christ’s first miracle actually occurred when Salome was handed Him to hold and it restored her whithered hand. She tested the Holy Mother and found in fact that Mary was chaste. And having three mystics show up bearing royal gifts. Then later on He finds out about all this. So if you have seen the Son. You have seen the Father. “Split a piece of wood and you will find me. Overturn a moss covered stone and I am there.” “Woe to the spirit that relies on the flesh and woe to the flesh that relies on the spirit.” Those who come to understand the meanings of these sayings will never die! May the Peace and Mercy of Yeshua be upon us all!

  • So grateful for coming across this article today. I kind of figured this out myself when I was about 14 years old. I too was brought up in the catholic indoctrination, and as Alex Ferrari calls it I’m a “recovering ” catholic 😏 I hated being told from the pulpit every Sunday that I was a sinner, I was just a child! Hideous religion!

  • I’m a 65 yo born, raised, and still live in Christian fundamentalist southeast Mississippi…I’ve never been nothing but traumatized by what these people believe about religion…but I’ve had the experience that AW mentioned: non-dual, unitive consciousness…I was completely liberated and set free…you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free…”blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God”…I don’t know whether to scorn or pity these people…but I do know they’re ignorant.

  • The day I realized who I was, I was assaulted by police then locked up in a psych ward & injected against my will. I went into cardiac arrest immediately but the hospital refused to listen to me. After suffering for 24 hours vomiting blood, a new Dr came on schedule & actually ran an EKG. I was rushed to another hospital for a life saving stint. The widow maker’s heart attack they called it because if you don’t get medical care immediately… They want you to believe but not really believe. They will try to kill you if you really believe.

  • Shared with several loved ones. I have often wondered who would ‘save Jesus’ from the distortions of his alleged followers’ beliefs about him. It seems this fella had done. I know Alan W has for decades been a star in spiritual philosophy, but he was never on my radar screen, so many many thanks for this, lovely Dorothy.

  • I myself committed my life to Christ at age 26 in the throws of a bi-polar manic episode (my first of a few). Now, 38 years later I still believe in Him. Its been a rough ride, interspersed with 2-5 year periods throughout of blatant ungodly living followed by repentance. I am stronger in Him today than ever but at the same time more aware of just how deeply I am permeated in sin even though it isn’t dispayed in such blatant or obvious ways, such as drug/alcohol abuse and sexual sin. A lot of sin is derived from pride, bitterness, resentment, and wanting what I want when I want it. God is showing me that the fruit of the Spirit; Love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control is what is most important. For this will glorify God in heaven when others see these attributes in a man who claims that Jesus is Lord of all. Just as importantly, when a man becomes aware that he is posessing these attributes then surely Christ has made His abode inside of him. For he promised; “I stand at the door and knock. If any man opens to Me I will come into him and make my abode with him. And dine with him. And I will manifest (or reveal) Myself to him.” Now that is a promise I will do my all to hold Him to.

  • I never would have understood this before I used plant medicine in ceremony. The truth Watts share’s so eloquently is obvious to me now. Once you see it, there’s no going back. That’s a low grade warning for anyone who takes comfort in any particular religion. Don’t let go until you’re really ready to let go. Wishing peace to all.

  • A religion is a human made group based on stories… Whereas a Dharma is the eternal duty… eternal rules and regulations of this very universe. Dharma is the life style that you follow to align yourself with the cosmic energies… there are many things which can not be seen but, can be observed with certain rituals. Marking them as mumbo jumbo will just be an ignorant step towards truth. And the purpose of Dharma is to educate you about the cosmic truths… to worship the energies that have existed from the starting of time itself. This is not something to believe blindly… but, to experience the transdence of your life to higher potentials… to experience what you can do actually… how really potential you are. Dharma teaches you not only to worship the creator… but, also to know his or her creations… and to worship them too. To be grateful to every living as well as non living things for their contribution towards your existence. A human can get to his true potential if he knows and respects the truths of the universe and not by some stories and paid testimonies… and fake healings. This DHARMA is ETERNAL… and thats why its known as SANATAN(ETERNAL) DHARMA(DUTIES, RULES AND REGULATIONS). THIS IS THE OLDEST DHARMA(NOT RELIGION OF THIS PLANET). Its vast and deep… its the truth that can be experienced and not just to believe. I as a human wants all my fellow human beings to get to know about the reality of this universe and everything around them… as everything has its own energy.

  • I love Alan because he describes and explains and he speaks to people on the level that all can relate to or should I say most people can relate to and understand, one thing I do want to say is that yes the teachings of Christ have been weaponized by the system, but once you get past the organized religion this is what I’ve learned and I’ve been all over the religious spectrum 10 years off and on and on homeless shelter trying to cheer decent meetings in the recovery community which went okay for a while, then I reach my goals as a father and a husband and my wife reachedbhers as well, I think one must understand that imperfection is the real perfection, think that Jesus Christ is also been pedestal I agree with that I also agree with the fact that they have weaponized it like I just said but another thing I think is overlooked in many of the Christian community is that the expectations in which the gospel preachers to you to be like Christ that’s not the message of. Christ, what I got from the Bible is to be the best father husband speaking for myself I could be in reality ok ? Nothing more nothing less and you can praise the father anywhere anytime but remember you do not dump and or push it on people you welcome people to the message of God you welcome them you let them know hey God is good all the time and that’s simple that’s a very simple thing to do but you don’t speak you commit the actions The godly actions that’s how you preach the gospel in my opinion for real, just thought I would share what I’ve gotten from the bible, in terms of a righteous message from god.

  • I always got a funny feeling at church when certain things were said. I felt it deep within me that something was off. It was unsettling. My animal instinct didn’t jive with it. (Just some info for you all) to this day I don’t know what to think of it because life is so chaotic. Thinking straight has proven to be a challenge. I try my best to concentrate on the present moment. (So far, I think that’s where the answers hide) which answers… I don’t even know. Something is going on. I do know that.

  • Still struggling. I was raised Catholic but even as a child I felt no connection to it. I couldn’t ask questions about my faith in the church since it was seen as “questioning God” or “questioning teachers.” It was hard. It was hard to tell my family at 21 I was agnostic. I didnt straight up tell them however, they noticed I hardly participated in anything they did in regards to their faith. It led to a lot of fights and with me being nearly thrown out because of it. As of now, I am still searching for something…

  • I was brought up as a Methodist, involved in the choir and youth meetings but at 20 years old I began to realize how out of touch the church was with reality always asking for more money to build a new church building that’s when I knew that there was something missing from this group. A higher power doesn’t care what religion, race or sexual orientation you are so then religion became obsolete for me. I believe in the universe and that when our body surrenders the soul transforms for the next step. We came here with just a soul and as our souls are infinite meaning that our souls existed long before our arrival on this planet. I have found my soulmate meaning that we have shared countless lifetimes together and just as we were destined to find each other again so it will be in our future forever

  • Christ alone teaches that the reason for our existence is to please God. Christ teaches that the only way to please God is to LOVE GOD WITH ALL OUR HEARTS MINDS AND SOULS and to LOVE OUR Neighbors as OURSELVES! Christ teaches that we can only do this by faith in His Atonement for the sins of the world. Whoever misses this message, misses the mark!

  • John 10:34 just blew my mind. I knew this for a while now from esoteric texts. I found the bible verse I am looking for to rub in my mother’s face (in a good way since we discuss deep topics). I have been looking for a verse that would get her to question her faith, and not just stop searching for truth. She is a truthseeker like me, but it is just she thinks she has it. I will admit christianity has done an amazing job at making her a good person though. Most baptist churches I grew up in had a loving atmosphere and not a fire and brimstone approach. I knew deep in my heart god was loving, and there is no way the old testament was the true god. Asking for pagan sacrifices and commanding jews to rape and pillage nonbelievers. If you must know the old testament god wanted to enslave us. Yahweh is the god of metallurgy and the storm god. Do your research. If you go even deeper you will find it stems from sumeria or further. If you go deeper than that they are the annunaki or Extra terrestrials. Keep in mind there are an immense amount of religions that claim their god came from the stars and not heaven. I just want her to know there is always more to everything. People get locked into 1 book and become closed minded. This article really made me appreciate Mr. Watts so much more.

  • Gives me a lot to think about. I was terrorized all my life, growing up, by my Dad, who was an A/G preacher. I go to sleep thinking about how I will wind up in hell. I wake up thinking about it. I am still terrorized to this day by the hell fire and brimstone preaching I lived through. I am sure my Dad did what he did thinking it was for my (our) own good, but I often wonder what my life would have been if he had taught the love of God instead. I sure wish he had. I’d love to not be worried by this constantly. He lived by “spare the rod, spoil the child”. Boy, did he live by it!! He would, once in a while, decide us kids had not been whipped lately, so he’d give us a whipping on “general principles”, because he supposed we had probably gotten away with being bad and not been caught. So we would try to be good, but still get the belt. I don’t hate him. I just hate the way we were raised. This article seems to say that maybe we have hope, after all.

  • Hi Dorothy, you posted a article a while ago about the truth about religion that a woman (if I’m not mistaken) found out in her NDE experience and was shown to her, but the article was deleted for some reason. Not sure if you did it or YT but I’d really like to watch that article again. Is there any way you post that article again or to find it somewhere else other than yt? Really appreciate it

  • The quote from Jesus ” I Am the way, the truth, and the life and nobody comes to the Father except through me” John 14:6… has been misinterpreted for centuries. HE was the WAY as He lived and moved in the world, Christ was the TRUTH without a lying or foul tongue, sharing great and holy wisdom… HE was the LIFE… the life of peace, love, wisdom, high moral code. When you KNOW this “Way of BEING” in the world… when one embodies this nectar of a love for God by loving others, all of creation, longing for truth and wisdom… THEN you too shall KNOW the Father. This is what that quote is meant. Amen

  • Absolutely incredible. It’s clear the man has devoted his whole life to finding a higher or true meaning of the original scriptures. Before the institution that is the church got to work at using it as a tool to control the masses. Not only control but as I said to institutionalize man into never being worthy without their approval. Doing everything they could to change the religion from all inclusive to all powerful. Yet as we’ve seen time and again, unconditional power corrupts unconditionally. If the church could go back to the original writings we could mentally evolve to our true potential. Jesus himself seemed to be against the the power and corruption he saw in his own time in the temples. Saying you don’t need to go temple or church to talk to God saying God is the light over all, it is I who am the entirety. It is me from which the entirety has come and to me that the entirety goes. Split a piece of wood: I am there. Lift a stone, and you will find me there.

  • I think it all boils down to having a spiritual awakening like David icke had and i also had one in the mid 90’s, you feel like you are the Messiah and have been put here to change the world with a over whelming feeling of love, almost turned me religious at one point but i realised its not the right path to go down.

  • Alan Watts has a wonderful gift. I for one just love his voice…it has so much depth and is so easy to listen too. Up until now l have only read Quotes from his work, and now and then a short sound article. This article is inspiring, l am only ever in Awe of my G-d, and it is the echo of G-d’s presence that l hear, and perceive to be coming through Alan’s Words. I made my mind up a long time ago that l would not follow any creed of any taught religious Doctrine. I have though always felt the presence of Jesus, growing up loving the story and the teacher. Now at 80yrs old l feel always the presence in me of G-d.And through good thought, good word, good deed l persevere to be worthy of the life he gave me. (:

  • ATTENTION! I am here to proclaim that Jesus Christ is the only true savior for the world. If you deny Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and if you continue to follow the sinful behavior of the world, you will not see the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus loves you and He died for your sins and on the third day of His death, He arose from the grave. Jesus Christ is alive!! REPENT and believe in your heart and confess with your mouth, that Jesus Christ is Lord. MARK 1:15 For the Kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe in the gospel.

  • Wow,.first off, Amazing article with amazing words with golden nuggets of information to chew on (figurative speaking). I have always had trouble with religion as a whole, connection with God/Jesus (whatever you want to call them), and going to church. My mom and I were not super religious growing up yet we believed in God/Jesus in our own way by praying and what have you, being spiritual and all that, believing there is some kind of after life. I’ll admit to never reading the Bible all the way through. it’s a cumbersome text with a lot of bullshit in it…and it was written by men thousands of years ago…and probably censored to hell anyways as years and different Bibles have been made throughout the years. I didn’t know that basically the Catholics basically chose what was going to be what we know as the Bible. I feel a lot is left out and it’s very all over the place. There are so many passages about killing innocent people, sacrifice, etc. And of course I personally think the concept of sin is a load of horseshit to be frank… I’m not an atheist nor do I belong to any one religion because I think fundamental religion is crap anyway. But I don’t hate those who think that it’s a way of trying to find meaning in life. we don’t know if there’s a god, gods, or a divine creator of sorts. The world and life are full of so many mysteries. It isn’t a sin to love another human being, to be yourself or to crawl out of the box that your parents/family/society has said this is your role.

  • The very moment God saved me ( by grace through faith in Jesus Christ) I said God is alive! How could anyone say God is dead when I know different! Jesus said you must be born again! He is the way the truth and the life! Repent or perish! It’s enough to live by and enough to die by! Jesus is all I need.

  • I studied Alan Watts hard and Taoism and believing I was God in my own heart and here I am… 5 years later, 5 years smarter and I’ve accepted Jesus as my lord and savior. Thank you Alan for your wisdom but God was at the center of it all. Always in the background. Always working and today I can say God is real. And that’s with all the knowledge from school, college, online studies, and everything else I was told. You’ll feel God too and I know Alan knows Gods real too now. Rest in peace. God welcomes all who stumble. The lost son is always welcome home.

  • I believe that a man existed in lets say Jerusalem and he was a soothsayer and told stories which were interesting and he intrigued people so they found his stories uplifting and relevant at that time. In time over many years people spoke of him and i think this man became jesus. Jesus i believe was based on a real ordinary man.

  • WHETHER WE CREATED God or God created us. GOD EXISTS. THE Difference between the idea of God and God means little, to the suffering, where Hope springs … at least 50 years. Lol. The business of speaking for an all powerful being is profitable. LUTHER knew what he was talking about and the science of chaos explains Life! The power to shift perception and belief exists within “The WORD”, as suggestions, for specific actions & behaviors to make a better life. Simple psychology, seemingly miraculous, yet void of the divine.

  • This article is absolutely amazing here. If you quietly contemplate the first two words of the old testament long and quietly breaking them down to the letter and contemplating them, something powerful may occur. I had a huge flash of light inside when I saw this. I found the second word of Genesis (which is usually translated as “in the beginning”) to mean “inner” or just “in” (transliterated letter “b”) and “sight” or “vision” or “light” (transliterated letters “ra”). This is a process where every Hebrew letter is translated to a single English letter that never changes as truth never changes. Thus, “b-r-a”, the second word, is actually “in-sight” or inner vision, or light within or to some, wisdom. So, we were given (or really ARE) light or wisdom. Everything came from the light within. Now, what about the first word? That word was corrected by the second. The first word given is actually the letters “B-R-A-s-h-i-t-h”. As you can see, it has wisdom or light in it (b-r-a), but it’s also attached to something else. “shith”. Your guy in the article says that wisdom always needs a medium. You can see the very first word tells us the light first came with “shith” attached but then was removed or corrected in the second (true) word where it was just inner light. Thus, the entire Bible is about the inner light that was first mis-used (ego/body attached) but then corrected. We are the light that are attached to these bodies (and ego) which will be stripped away when we rejoin our original source, the light within.

  • I view these texts, these writings of all faiths to be the truths of existence, and its understanding to have evolved over a long period of time. “Live in accordance to x, then one shall live a good life”, “live in accordance to z, you shall not live a promising life”. Not rules of man, but rules by the framework of existence.

  • I can relate to this so deeply due to the fact that this is how I truly believed all this was and is. Ive kept these thoughts to myself due to anytime I would attempt to explain how i felt i was quickly meet with someone saying how wrong I am. If anyone could point me in a direction of somewhere or someone that can help me understand and not shut me down. I would appreciate it immensely.

  • I’m Ethiopian/Eritrean Tewahedo Orthodox Christian. We study with oldest and most complete version of the Bible in the world. I’ve always appreciated Alan Watts. After listening to this… I’m even more inspired by my faith. I have plenty of issues with Western Christianity/Roman Catholicism. Don’t discount Oriental & Eastern Orthodox Christianity. It’s a beautiful religion. May god bless us all 🙏

  • Wasted DECADES listening to and following self proclaimed spiritual teachers like Alan Watts etc. Thankfully, God did not forget me. I was still seeking Truth all along but eventually I put seeking Truth over my own life. I wanted truth more than life itself. I saw how no human is good and we cannot undo even the smallest sin we’ve done. I realised only God had the answers and my heart called out to The Creator of truth, logic and love itself, if such a being existed. I no longer accepted answers from limited creations that could lie to themselves even. God showed Himself in a BIG way 🙂 my spirit was brought to Life. Was blessed to know the ongoing presence of God and His love, healing and peace. Saw how everything in the Bible only corroborated what God revealed to me. There is only one way out of sin and it is Jesus Christ. He IS the Way, the Truth and the Life. Heaven and Hell are real. Unless you receive the Holy Spirit yourself you will NOT recognise God’s Holy Spirit also inspiring the different writers in the Bible. Watts and ALL other spiritual teachers are unknowingly/knowingly inspired by the fallen angels. These are highly advanced spiritual entities rebellious to The Creator. Don’t waste decades like I did and seek God with all your heart, mind and soul. Time exists for the body and soul and it is limited.

  • Yeah he purposefully failed to continue the scripture in John chapter 10 because Jesus goes on to say that the Father set Him apart and that they should believe in Him (Jesus as God) because the evidence is in His miracles. So if the actual gospel was Jesus is a son in the same sense as we are then why aren’t we set apart and why weren’t we sent with the ability perform miracles. AND by this gentlemen speaking’s logic then WHY if Jesus had left it at his excerpt did these Jews STILL kill Jesus! Why didn’t they say “oh yeah he’s saying we’re all sons of God” NOOOO Jesus is claiming DIVINITY AND ITS CLEAR. This man is a Bible butchering LIAR 😊

  • I am a Catholic but I was always horrified by people worshiping another human being as a God I was never comfortable with the madness of the crowd, even for the Pope. Today the celebrities of the moment are mimicked and screamed about, I don’t get it. Even today with the Coronation, I can appreciate the history and hope that the new King and Queen will work for good and carry on our Royal family. If only people would accept our Devine and equality, no one person better than another. Equal in every way with the spark of life a gift from our father.

  • Wow. This is Absolutely True. I have come to this exact conclusion through much prayer and contemplation. This is incredible for me to have found this article. I am so glad to read the comments and see that many other people are on to this Truth also. I sincerely believe that this is a time of a Great Awakening to Truth. An interesting thing is that I see tremendous Lies in Most of What We Have Been Taught in HISTORY. God is moving across the waters—–means God is moving across the Consciousnesses of Humanity.

  • I know how we got it. We are the Hebrew Israelites and our GOD gave US the HOLY SCRIPTURES not Rome. Rome took what the Lord gave us and Satan has used it the wrong way to try to disqualify the LORD Jesus Christ the Holy Scriptures, but God wrote it down in other ways other books as well. He entwined the Holy Scriptures in the history of mankind. What an amazing God, the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the one and only true and just God for in HIM DWELLS ALL, all the fullness of the Godhead bodily

  • We’re talking about the unknown, of course they made it all up. We know in our hearts what’s right and wrong. No one is going to burn in hell because they read the wrong book. Love is why we are all here. I’m confident God is real but defining it is pointless. Greed is why we suffer… Be nice, know yourself and nothing in excess. Simple rule’s. F your books. Love is the answer!!

  • Yes, in Islam, Jesus refers to Allah as “Almighty God” and declares himself to be a servant of Allah. In the Quran, Jesus says, “I am a servant of Almighty God. He has given me Scripture and has made me a Prophet. He has blessed me wherever I may be and has made prayer and charity my duty as long as I live” (Al-Qur’aan 19:30-31).

  • From the past, the present and from the future. He did not come, he always is, always was and always will be and in all ways. His message IS simple, always was and always will be. BE GOOD to one another. Cannot go wrong with such a simple message. But wait, it would appear people can indeed miss the concept of love. The message is everywhere yet is constantly overlooked or rather looked over for personal gain, as perceived, unless we help one another we cannot help ourselves. Can’t get simpler then that. Jesus loves you. He created you to love him. Loving others IS as Loving him.” What you have done to the least of these you have done unto me”. So do unto others as you would do unto the creator of everything. Yes be nice, kind and Loving.

  • I had a non medicated non accident cosmic consciousness event when I was eighteen that changed my life forever. At that moment I was given the pleasure of the view that explained everything that was to come in my life, but most of all, I received total peace and tranquility that lasts to this day. It was not only peace and tranquility but also a vision of the afterlife that removed any fears or anxiety about dying. It similar to near death experiences I’ve read about with seeing friends and relatives who passed telling me to go back. Jesus figured it out.

  • Thank you for this article. It confirms very concisely and precisely what I had similarly been thinking about. Born into a Christian family, swept into evangelicalism in University, I had in the past decades been finding inconsistencies in what the Bible actually says and what the churches preach to their followers, out of context. Growing up, and well into my twenties, I simply imbibed without question what was preached to me.

  • I hold this same view, and have shared it with others. But most Christians become very upset and insist I take on the guilt. I will not, because we are all Devine children of God, created in His image, so how dare we degrade ourselves with guilt and feelings of being a horrible sinner. Why did people not understand Jesus’s message? Thanks for putting up this article. It’s very informative for all those out there who feel let down by organized religion.

  • I’m coming back to this article again and again to remind myself what is really true. Lest we forget. We are all God’s children carrying the divine inside. All brothers and sisters and all equal. This is the Universal Truth. And we all know that in the depths of our souls. Therefore there is no hiding place from the creator and its light. Because as the creation we shine the light. We are the light.

  • Some day the church of truth will be born and all our precious beliefs will be challenged. Ongoing reincarnation will be discovered as a fact. Other intelligent beings have been visiting our planet for hundreds and even thousands of years and they will reveal the true history of mankind which we are all participating in limited lifetimes. Great advances in science and space travel will be the result of these meetings which I suspect our secret governments already are involved in. Many will think these thoughts are ridiculous but trying to disprove them will lead them to the inescapable truth.

  • According to some beliefs, 124,000 prophets were sent to the Middle East, yet the region remains one of the most troubled areas in the world. This raises questions about the divine intentions behind such actions. In contrast, my understanding of God is that He is perfect, having no need to send messengers, and His creation reflects that perfection.

  • It seems apparent that within human nature is the desire to focus and worship an individual, or sometimes, several. In groups, it becomes tribalism. This happens not only in religions, but of course, we see it in politics, sports, entertainment, the arts, etc. Naturally, the results are often both beneficial and harmful. There are psychological needs involved even in masses of people. Sometimes, it’s a helpful idea to mentally step back and look at the behaviors of humans and to think about what promotes good survival and what detracts from it. Getting along, helping each other and embracing diversity is one of the most helpful things we can all do.

  • The law of separation is man made. The law of Oneness is Truth. Nothing exists outside of SELF. Therefore, everything seen and unseen is SELF expressing Itself. It would be true to conclude that I am SELF and whenever I go I am there. I am SELF, I can deny this truth all I want, but the truth will prevail. SELF is not under the laws and beliefs of man. SELF is under the law of LIBERTY. You are all SELF.

  • You people have lost your way. Its actually Sad, But it’s not to late, Jesus loves you and wants whats best for you, if you can stop being narrow minded, you’de be able to learn a lot. “He who cannot change his thoughts cannot change how he persieves the world, no matter how much you try, It it only if they are willing, that they truly Understand” Always be open minded instead of validating your beliefs why don’t you challenge them. then you will see if you’re walking in the right path.

  • This was extraordinarily well explained, beautiful. What also bothers me in mainstream Christianity is the unbelievably strong tendency to focus on meaningless and wrong things. Mainly sexual “sins”. But who talks about living a simple and humble life without fear in infinite love and spiritual tranquility, as Jesus taught? Or the rich man, camel and the eye of the needle? These things would make a huge, tremendous difference in this world, but for some reason they are practically ignored. An average Buddhist, Hindu and many others live much more “Christlike” lives than an average Western Christian. This is a very unpleasant fact for some.

  • A question for adults: if you were deciding where to send your children to a particular university or college and prior to their admission, you were to receive a letter of explanation from a few of the universities that stated: a) that several of their professors, for the past century and more, were regrettably, in fact, guilty of raping thousands of college students, both boys and girls b) that the university was well aware of who these offenders were C) it was current school policy and within the scope of their authority of that the university did not report these rapists to police d) the university insisted instead on a policy of secrecy and shelter and offered these raping professors a salary, sinecures and substantial legal protection. e) the rights of the raping professors exceeded those of the victims Who would, for a nanosecond, consider sending their child to this college or university? Shall I answer my own question? Not one thinking adult would do such a horrific thing to their very own flesh and blood. Why is it then, that millions still send their kids to Catholic elementary or high schools, or still donate money, or stocks, bonds, art or land to the Catholic church? The millions of people that still support this atrocious organization are to me, intellectually defective and questions of abnormal psychology have to be raised. Rid yourself of religious beliefs, shed them like a snake sheds it’s own skin. Think for yourself.

  • Religion is a set of beliefs that contains multifaceted aspects of the world including history, philosophy, morality, and idols. While it sometimes can be therapeutic, it has a tendency to correlate to denial of reality and evidence provided by science. Because of its involvement in defining history, morality, and idols, it WILL clash with science whether or not ppl believe science and religion can coexist. And because of the nature of religion is tied with faith, a state of mind tied to the rejection of reality in favor for ideals and the supernatural, religion is problematic in that their followers will have a tendency to ignore the evidence provided for the opposition. They will use illogical fallacies to prove a point. They justify it by saying that science doesn’t prove that their god(s) doesn’t exist, even though that is a false equivalency. Because it is increasingly clear that as history becomes more revealed through our research in contemporary and secondary works, we see that most of the history defined in religious scriptures are not what really happened. Twisting of truths and exaggerations to include supernatural elements in events. Because of this tendency to ignore reality and evidence, religious people potentially become more dangerous because this behavior fosters an extreme obsession with their god(s). A one-sided para social relationship that encourages division and tribalistic behaviors towards those not adhering to the culture. They will do anything they can to force the natural world to fit their religious world.

  • Just a bunch of words by a man who didnt have the fear of the Lord. Jesus never taught we were all “gods” within. He taughf that we SUPRESS the knowledge of God because we love our sins. We create our own gods to cosign all the things we want to do. The Bible isn’t like any other religion. It wasn’t just a life philosophy. There are literal manifestations of POWER and a Personal God interacting and judging EVERYBODY. Jesus had POWERS. So did his fowollers. We all have the opportunity to repent and accept Jesus as our Lord. The warnings will one day stop.

  • So, Alan Watts really emphasized how we’re all connected and part of something bigger. He believed that divinity is in everyone, which kinda matches with your thoughts from the LDS church about us being sons and daughters of God. You both see the importance of compassion and understanding in dealing with suffering, which is pretty cool! Alan also encouraged looking beyond strict religious rules to find your own personal connection with the divine. Your open-mindedness and willingness to explore different perspectives really align with that idea. In the end, it’s all about finding what resonates with you personally on your spiritual journey. How does that sound?✝️

  • So many lost, so many conflicted, and each doubter is convinced that they don’t need a savior. I don’t care to argue with any of you concerning the reality of your ignorance, it makes no difference to me whether or not you find what you are searching for in this life. But I’ll say this, each one of us will take one last breath before we experience the unknown, therefore, we are equally agreeable at this moment. At some point in our lives, at an older age perhaps, we will all come to know if we made the right choices. So my friends, pick your path and pick it wisely.

  • How Christianity ever reached its successful position in Western society I will never understand on account of its history of violence, judgement, and cruelty as shown by the Spanish inquisition. It has poisoned the fabric of Western civilization for 2 millennia. It is due to the development of the secular world, the ideas of the French revolution, and the writings of humanists that we have a civil society today free from the crueler judgements of the Church, though secular laws still contain the seeds of religious teachings.

  • Not So Fun Fact: Life in the Heavenly Realms is total non-separation from God (being in his presence) Life on Earth is partial separation from God. (You may feel him but he is mostly invisible) Hell is total separation from God. (Eternal separation) (I experienced a glimpse of this when I almost died.) I honestly wish we had more scientific tangible proof of these things because its so real, don’t be deceived by this article.

  • They misinterpreted the words of Jesus and his message – the Christians did. Alan Watts is correct. The DNA change, the new spiritual awareness of who I am- divine sonship is we all have. That gets us to be more sinless and less bent on fleshly desires. You don’t need guilt or self condemnation as Paul wrote in Romans 8:1

  • I believe in God and so should others not only by feeling his prescence but others evidences as well, for one example the book of Daniel which has prophecies concerning and predicting the Greco-Macedonian empire, and the Roman Empire, The Oldest copy of the book of Daniel is found to have existed during 536 B.C Whereas the Greco-Macedonian empire established a growing empire from 359 B.C to 323 B.C, I dont mean no harm towards any of you nor judge any of you since I believe we all have freedom and will to choose and may God bless your lives <3
