How Astrological Declinations Are Drawn?

In astrology, a planet’s position through the 30 degrees of a sign is determined by its ecliptic longitude within the zodiacal wheel. This information is used to define aspects such as sextile, square, and trine between planets. Declinations, on the other hand, are based on latitude and were considered the most important aspect by 19th-century astrologers. These aspects reveal hidden dimensions in an individual’s astrological chart, providing valuable insights into their personality traits, strengths, and challenges.

Declinations in astrology refer to the angular distance between celestial bodies and the ecliptic, aiding astrologers in understanding planetary interactions and transits. They are a must-consider for birth chart analysis, showing the distance of planets from the celestial equator, which reveals insight into a person’s fate and character traits. However, declination has been overlooked by astrologers, but it is now becoming more important.

Parallels and Contra-Parallels are aspects that refer to degrees of declination above or below the celestial equator. Parallels are similar to a sextile, while Contra-Parallels activate the ability to organize and reorganize aspects of life depending on the planets and luminaries involved. Declinations are used to measure available energy, with direct energy for the Sun and indirect energy for other bodies.

In natal astrology, declinations provide valuable insights into an individual’s personality traits, strengths, and challenges. For example, a sextile by longitude between Mercury and Neptune would be significantly weakened by an opposition by declination or latitude, whereas a conjunction by declination would affect a person’s destiny.

  • Thank you! I try to understand a bit of my chart. I notice my sun, moon, venus, mercuru, lilith and node are out of bounce >23. And ascendant close parallel to pluto. Sun, Mc, southnode, lilith, moon &venus are also parallel too… So many planets are gathering in one part of the chart, but oppose the north node… Curious to discover more of the meaning…I’ve known a lot of fear in my life. But i also feel trust now.

  • I’m aware this is only meant to express an elementary concept, but as long as you went to the trouble to make a whole article about it, why not take a few more seconds to include how Earth’s axial wobble affects things, why it has to be vernal equinox when autumnal equinox is the same thing, and what units of measurement are used for RA (hours, minutes and seconds). You should really also consider using a script next time.
