  • I’m honestly just sick of the “King summoned heroes from another world to fight the demon king” trope. I’m sick of the concept of the “demon king”. I’m sick of the “video game stats” trope. I’m sick of the fantasy world being clean, regimented, and orderly. Know what a better isekai would be? Literally blundering into a thin-spot and suddenly finding yourself in the equivalent of 9th century NW Europe. You’ve got no way to communicate, no cash, there’s horse shit in the road, people wear moccasins (historically accurate), you’re a weird foreigner no one likes, that yeoman looks like he might split your bitty head with a broadsword, and – oh yeah – der vikingir gekommt! That’s right, a Norse-analogue have come to make this kingdom theirs and there’s no Aelfred the Coward-King to stop them. Time to learn Icelandic and make yourself useful if ya don’t wanna die like a Saxon pigdog, bish! (The vikingir are actually the good guys.) Then again, I’m heavily biased. Because YNGLAND BELONGS TO THE NORSE! *raids a monastery*

  • I have to stop you at the “no boring plot”. I dunno the plot isn’t boring or not. Because I don’t know the plot. As far as I can tell, there is no plot. I dropped the serie around episode 9 or 10 because of that. It was getting fucking slow and boring. Yeah, it’s original. And yet, it’s incredibly predictable. The author throw a surprising curve ball in the story here or there… and they milk it for centuries. That’s how it feels to me at least. You spend the show knowing EXACTLY how it’s going to unfold 99% of the time. I have nothing against slowly paced anime. But this is not slow. It’s just boooooring.

  • Isekai Anime is not “Cash Grabs” as this guy presents it. Seems they does not know the origins. No. Isekai is not anime. They are light novels CONVERTED to anime. And these light novels are MADE BY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WHO SELF INSERT IN THEIR OWN FANTASIES. Nothing more, nothing less. They are not made by Companies wanting to get some money out of people. They are made by KIDS. Which is why… they are how they are.

  • I literally just finished Mushoku tensei and still working on shadow in eminence but so far, it is going great, I see why people love it! I also am perusal the rise of the shield hero…yeah, I’ve been getting more into isekai anime’s lately for some unknown reason lol, but they’re all pretty good and do recommend if you haven’t already watched them, which is pretty unlikely but, who knows. To your eternity is also a good anime, it’s not an isekai anime but, it is amazing imo, so yeh I will begin perusal this one now so see ya.

  • I think the manga adaptation is better. The anime does add a few things and expands on some ideas in ways I like, but the unimpressive animation disappoints, and the general tone and pacing feel off. There’s something about the manga that feels grittier, more serious. And some of the jokes that made me laugh out loud didn’t come across well in the show.

  • Sex sells, there is nothing wrong with fan service.. And I hate when people act like its some horrible thing because people who are terminally online and have zero testosterone don’t like it.. It’s the same with article games uglifying women because of the “male gaze”. Well that appealing to Men, is what makes genres makes millions of dollars a year. what makes genres makes millions of dollars.

  • if your looking for some other animes/manhwas/novels that did isekai right (in my opinion) here are some recommendations! trash of the count’s family (is a manhwa but also has a novel) weakest tamer began a journey to pick up trash (more of a calm comfort anime) im in love with the villainess (is a lesbian isekai anime but its really really good)

  • no fan service… did you see his body? i litterally wanted his whole bloodline in me like the whole series after i saw it … no op character … healing that litterally optpaces all damage to the point its more effective then origin elements like light and dark … are you even perusal the show ? look just say you liked it and stop tryng to justify it there is absolutly nothing wrong with the genra the ppl acting like there is an issue with it are simgle show biast and litterally stupid or cucks to 1 type that act as if all of anime must meet their approval . dont be that pathetic person and just be honest

  • Man it anoys me when a good isekai apperas people pull that card. “Oo LooK A GOoD ISeKAi, NeVEr BefORE ThiS HappENed…” and yet there are TONS of good isekai out there * Grimgar of Fantsy & Ash: none of them are OP, and no one is realy safe. * Kumo desu KA nani ka: The spider gets OP after spending months fighting for her life daily with too many close encounter to count. * Ascendance of a Boomworm: aside knowledge, (that she can’t apply right away BTW), her unnatural pool of mana that brings her far more problem that it solves. * Saga of Tanya the Evil: Is she OP? While Tanya have a really high aptitude, she’s in a world tailored to break her will and turn her into a humble servant of ‘god’, and yest she fights and refutes it all the time.

  • It’s this article that made me realize that my experience with the isekai/transmigration genre before is NOT the norm… And you know what, I probably should have expected that, seeing as one was based of a cnovel written by a woman and the other WAS a cnovel written by a woman… Both were hype as fuck tho, I STRONGLY recommend Since I Wasn’t The Heroine

  • I feel like the Rising of the Shield Hero is a pretty good isekai, although I really have nothing to compare it to, as isekai’s usually aren’t my cup of tea. I just remember perusal the first two episodes, like, five or so years back, and I only recently was like, “Hey, maybe I should see if that plot ever went anywhere interesting.” and lo and behold, it did. I binged that entire first season in, like, three days, and then watched it again and again. It does have its… uh, questionable, moments, but overall, I really enjoyed perusal it. Haven’t seen season 3 yet though.

  • It must be that way, because I don’t know how else these 2 camps (about fanservice or not) would be divided… Men in comment section: Thats fanservice! Woman in comment section: Thats NOT fanservice! Also woman when a male protagonist has a harem: main audience are male… those are creeps and sexists. Yeah.. double standard.

  • I love the genre. No matter how cringe, repetitive and silly it gets, i have to watch them. Its like eating Mac n Cheese from different places. They all are the same thing, they just are made different. I love Inuyasha (which is an Isekai btw) but I also love “I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince So I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability”. An overly OP protag is my jam but a good story is also my jam. You can find a good story in both, if not all Isekai animes/light novels/web novels.

  • No fan service: HA, female character is THIRSTY as F lol No overpowered MC: Dude, the MC is 100% OP compared to the actual heroes and EVERYONE is afraid of his master and he becomes a direct copy of her pretty much, if not even more so. Sure, he has to work for it, but there are lots of isekai that show a training arc before MC becomes god. No boring plot: I mean, yeah, the overall story is good and an interesting twist on mc isekai cheat powers, considering it’s based on healing and not necromancy or elemental magic or something like that, but you can’t tell me there aren’t episodes that kind of drag a bit as fillers. It’s still a good “trash” isekai and I would still recommend it, but yeah, see above points

  • I’ve said this back in 2009…Japanese people don’t know how to write, you will always have either plot armor, ecchi, fan service, exaggerated characters etc etc.. Which doesn’t make it bad, just way too dreamy they start writing it good, then it goes downhill every single manga transforms from main objective frim it’s own title to something completely different they lose focus easily so you find many genres during lets say 2, 3 seasons…2 out of 10 stay true to its beginnings…what im saying its pointless to classify anime since mid 2000s.

  • Wrong Way To Use Healing Magic: “Who are you?” Mushoku Tensei: “I’m you, but literally better in every conceivable way.” Seriously though, Rudeus Greyrat had a 3 episode long self-imposed training montage as an infant. He was so forgettable a character on Earth that we never even know his former self’s name. Practically zero fan service. Time skips are rare, and on the scale of months to a year tops. AND the “reincarnated” portion of the story doesn’t skip to him being 4-8 years old, it starts literally the SECOND he’s born, time skips the boring stuff a for a few months and then not-quite-a-year during the time he learns to crawl, then walk, and stops time skipping when he hits 2 years old. The next major time skip isn’t til the end of the season, and even that’s only like a 1-2 year time skip. And he’s not a god either, he’s constantly facing well-told challenges throughout the story that being a powerful mage can’t just insta-win. Meanwhile, Wrong Way To Use Healing Magic’s MC gets god-like healing magic, and then his first real opponent is someone with armor that reflects all damage so healing magic is practically worthless against it. Oh, and the next villain that they foreshadowed has a sword that causes damage that healing magic can’t heal! That’s a level of shitty writing on par with “somehow, Palpatine returned”. The writers all but came out and said: “Here’s magic, now have enemies that it’s virtually worthless against to artificially inject a challenge Deus Ex Machina style because we wrote ourselves into a corner and couldn’t think of a good way to challenge you!

  • My personal isekai favourite would be: Yajin Tensei: Karate Survivor In Another World It has art and grittyness reminding of berserk, and is very low fantasy, aside from monsters existing. The characters’ struggles feel more real because he has to content with ordinary things like armed robbers, assassins and the ocassional monster/beast. Like many isekai, there are story moments where characters are too cartoonishly/irrationally evil, or there being just too many coincidences happening, but other than that, nice read.

  • 😂 What do you mean? isekai is a banger genre from magic knight rayearth, escaflowne, the twelve kingdoms, inuyasha, fushigi yugi, familiar of zero and more 😂 Just the modern ones which are like training for post covid / milenial workforce honestly can’t blame lack of creativity if you ever met a milenial you’ll know. 😅

  • At first, i believed what you said about this anime, but then you said Opera GX is the best browser 👀 And once i knew you are talking about Healing magic, i knew you lied, because i read the manga, and it’s one of the only three manga/anime series i dropped in my whole life. And to add weight to my words, i read it up to ongoing, which was 30-40 chapters back then i think? And the funniest thing is, i saw someone will adopt another manga i dropped somewhere in 2024. And the third is Arifureta btw.

  • FFS people… “No fan service” “But but but, he showed his abs!!!” I can’t believe the debates this has sparked in these comments. It’s like 6 seconds of “fan service” in an anime of a genre that is usually rife with overt and often constant fanservice. He meant that there are no jiggle physics, weird angles, skimpy outfits or any of the other stuff they throw into an anime to titillate the audience. And, sheesh, it’s like people had never seen a man without a shirt before.

  • Anime adaptation is shit compared to the manga and novel… If you have any experience with better anime, you will know what I mean – cheap on frames, dynamic panning for combat scenes, recycling, awkward design choices, boring and generic music, etc. Voice acting and effects are mediocre… 2 episodes wasted on backstory that would be more impactful if it was revealed partially in small hints… Not really addictive. Read the comic first to get the most of it.

  • Idk about you guys but I feel like fanservice is appealing to the opposite genders gaze. For a lot of women, men with abs don’t do anything for them, it’s apart of the male gaze. Something like showing an effeminate, attractive, or moe male character is more apart of the female gaze. Which is why it hardly accounts as fanservice.

  • It sucks because I love the IDEA of isekai, and some animes from the genre are good, but most are just done very poorly with low effort animation and bad story lines. I wish more studios would make better isekais. Because if the production value was raised to the bar of animes like JJK or Naruto then I think it could freaking amazing, as well as not basically turning it into a harem and actually have the characters have depth.

  • Nowadays Isekai often is just used as an excuse to make a fantasy anime, just make a fantasy anime for gods sake. The characters get teleported in a fantasy world and from that moment on their original world looses all relevancy. As a counter example in Mushoku Tensei the MC still has the experiences of his past life and still has to fight his traumas and one side characters desperately tries to get back, however, this could still deserve more relevance in Mushoku Tensei. Also it’s a bit edgy because the MC still is a 30 years old pervert NEET.

  • Even though this anime doesn’t involve the main character exploiting his powers to become the strongest, it is still a very standard isekai anime. Unrealistic world, incoherent plot, choppy storytelling, poorly thought out design. It’s still not a bad anime, but it’s much, much worse than what’s described in this article.

  • in my opinion i love stupid isekais with Op main character and just the same story over and over again, maybe switch it up with cultivation and then an adventure. All these animes are just so stupud they become fun again. But yes “Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic” is a lot of fun and i am very much looking forward to the next episodes.

  • I dont think you would see this. Karu. I have..well lost the comment thread about my story idea of the hero who keeps rewinding time after every reset and to no avail unable to beat the demon lord even with 10000 years of experiences and yadayada- Anyways I randomly found this article on my recommendation again and is very bored soo..I am proud to announce I have ditched that story! Well now I have ditched 7 stories or something I dont remember that I spent a few months on! Anyways I thought of a new idea. And in the rare case you see this or..care well… i dont know! But the question that started this new story is… are these teens actually okay beinf drafted to war to fight a literal 600 year old deity that is seen as a demi god? duh. No! They got lives of their own and dreams to carry about! Yet. They have been ohh so “fated” to save the world! Carrying the whole burden of the world and billions of life on their back with no say in the matter. To begin with what if killing the whole demon king doesnt solve issues like slaves, wars, racism and many other stuff? Anyways.. the story is followijg a bard (yes im reusing a character team) who was the sole survivor of the hero party and a sole new teen hero that was also given the task of killing the demon lord with the failure of the bard’s team. Now i..amm not sure if you remember (you shouldnt) of a bard solo story I had but this one is quite famikiar but with a whole another story path with a different message. First off, heres uh a character description of two main characters in the story.

  • There’s still a lot of fanservice 👀 for girls that is crazy for buffs, like that student council pres. In isekai, it’s okay to have some atleast, fanservices. It should doesn’t distracts the stray too much into fantaaizing the characters too much that it invalidates the plot. i kinda disagrees with you that this isekai is the done right thing. the world-building for the anime is a patchwork, the pacing is so rushed. and characters, really lacks emotions. but first, this is my opinion. the anime is kinda so-so. mid if you’d prefer. The animation is good for sticking to it’s roots for following the path to animate the fight scenesthe trad way, which is good. But the overall experience is lacking. For isekai-enjoyer standpoint.

  • Not gonna lie, I liked this anime and manga at first, in fact I read 50 chapters of the manga, but I’ve read many other mangas either the similar “weaker, but hard work makes strong” idea and this one just didn’t entertain me as much for it. If you want fun reads for isekai or fantasy settings my two recommendations are “Pick me up Gatcha” and “Nano machine” Good art, but also has color because it’s a Korean manga aka manhwa

  • There are good isekai’s, I’ve read a fuck ton because it’s the genre I really got into in the last year or so. My main or rather only strong dislikes of isekai is if there is no proper explaination or interesting story behind the protagonists isekai, whether that be them repeating lives and not realising it, switching souls etc you can find some which don’t involve truck-kun either, I am tired of truck-kun and that is always boring. Usually the other popular one is dying of overwork, given most of these are japanese that’s somewhat more believable. Though I did read one the other day where his sisters kick insta-killed him which is a dumb excuse but it made me laugh so I’ll give it a pass.

  • its becuase Isekai uses way too many tropes. Which isnt necesarily a bad thing but i can understand why people watch anime which is slightly different to the norm. Too much of the same is well..boring. Ill have to check this manga and anime out.Oh yea why is it a ton of anime/manga has girls with big…uno whats but then to other extreme and have skinny lolicons with almost nothing??

  • The only problem i have with the protag is that he lets himself get dragged into this without showing up any resistance. Big woman shows up, knocks him out and drags him to her hut caveman style. And no one, including OP has a problem with that because apparently shes so scary to everyone, even to the king. Dunno, i just hate that trope, and it made me lose all respect for the guy instantly.

  • Was reading the manga of this and yes the start is absolutely amazing for just seasonal isekai trash but it falls of HARD the longer you read. like the last decent plot was in about 30s(chapters) after that you can mistake it for ANY other harem isekai out there. Truly one of the hypest pieces ive read that just failed to deliver in the end.
