The iPad Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro M4 and other iPads has a brightness control that can be adjusted manually. To change the brightness of the keys on your Magic Keyboard, open Settings on your iPad, choose General from the list, and select Keyboard. The iPad Magic Keyboard includes backlit keys, making it easier to see in lower light situations and adding visual flare to the hardware keyboard. With the latest versions of iPadOS, you can access the Keyboard Brightness control in the Control Center specifically for the Apple Magic Keyboard for iPad.
To adjust the backlight, go to “Hardware Keyboards” and locate the ‘Keyboard Brightness’ slider. Drag the slider to the left to lower the brightness or to the right to increase the brightness. The keyboard backlighting will automatically adjust based on the light conditions around you. To manually adjust the brightness of the keys on your Magic Keyboard, go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Hardware Keyboard.
However, there are no function keys for changing screen brightness, so this can only be done through the control center. Tap and hold on the Keyboard Brightness control, and a slider will appear under your finger. To adjust the brightness of the keyboard, add the keyboard brightness button to the control panel and briefly remove the iPad from the Magic Keyboard case. In settings, set the keyboard brightness to the middle. After a restart, the keyboard backlighting will remain unchanged.
