How To Assess A Tarot Deck’S Value?

The value of a Tarot deck can be determined by several factors, including the card’s meaning, the deck’s guide, and personal preferences. Over 100 Tarot decks are available for users to experience, with notable variations such as the Tarot of Dreams, Shadowscapes Tarot, and Deviant Moon Tarot.

When choosing a Tarot deck, it is essential to consider your reading style and personal preferences. With hundreds of options available, it can be overwhelming to find one that truly fits your needs.

To find used copies of a Tarot deck, search past sales on eBay, Amazon, or Facebook. eBay is particularly great for vintage and antique decks, and you can also find pre-owned or vintage tarot decks on Etsy.

In modern tarot decks, coins have typically changed to pentacles, and staves are usually known as wands. Both tarot and ordinary playing cards were once used in divination.

When searching for a new deck, consider factors such as the artwork’s appeal, theme, representation, and the creator’s background. eBay and Etsy are excellent sites for finding vintage and antique decks, and you can also find decks with designs and themes like crows, trees, Isis, or angels.

In conclusion, browsing these sites can help determine the value of a Tarot deck, as well as other secondhand sites that offer a variety of decks to choose from.

How should I pull my tarot cards?

Tarot card pulls are a popular practice among those who enjoy the energy and power of the cards. Some prefer to spread the cards out after shuffling, while others feel drawn to them. Once a card radiates with energy, it can be pulled one or three at a time. All products are independently selected by editors, and if purchased, the company may earn an affiliate commission. Lisa Stardust, in her Practical Magic column, explains how to conduct daily tarot card pulls for oneself, focusing on getting in touch with oneself, whether magically or not. With the increasing popularity of collective daily tarot pulls on Instagram and TikTok, this guide aims to help users get the most out of their pulls.

What is the No 1 tarot card?

The Magician, also known as The Magus or The Juggler, is the first trump or Major Arcana card in traditional tarot decks, used for game playing and divination. In the occult context, the trump cards are recontextualized as the Major Arcana and given complex esoteric meaning. In this context, the Magician is interpreted as the first numbered and second total card of the Major Arcana, succeeding the Fool. In French, Le Bateleur, also known as “the mountebank” or “sleight of hand artist”, is a practitioner of stage magic.

In Italian tradition, he is called Il Bagatto or Il Bagatello. The Mantegna Tarocchi image of the Magician is labeled Artixano, the Artisan, and is the second lowest in the series. 18th-century woodcuts of the Magician reflect earlier iconic representations and can be compared to free artistic renditions in 15th-century hand-painted tarots.

What is the luckiest card in the tarot?

What is the luckiest card in the tarot?

The Wheel of Fortune card, part of the Major Arcana, is a symbol of destiny, fortune, success, elevation, luck, and felicity. It is often depicted in a six- or eight-spoked wheel, often attended by an individual dressed in an Egyptian-style headdress. In some decks, such as the AG Müller, the wheel is also attended by an individual wearing a blindfold. The wheel is not always inscribed with any lettering, but the letters T-A-R-O (clockwise) or T-O-R-A (counter clockwise) can be found aligned against four of the spokes, which can also be interpreted as R-O-T-A, the Latin word meaning “wheel”.

In some decks, such as the Waite, the wheel is inscribed with additional alchemical symbols representing the four elements: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. These emblems can also be seen on the Magician’s table in the Magician card (Card I).

How do I energize my tarot deck?

To recharge the deck, place the desired crystal on the surface, cover it with a silk cloth, and allow it to rest undisturbed for approximately 12 hours. Once the deck has been cleared, the cards should be held in the hands and the practitioner should meditate on the process of charging them with their own mental and spiritual energy.

What is the most valuable tarot card?

What is the most valuable tarot card?

The Fool is a card in tarot games, not part of the Major Arcana. In most games, the Fool is independent of both plain suit cards and trump cards, and does not belong to either category. Tarot decks originally made for game playing do not assign a number to the Fool indicating its rank in the suit of trumps. The Fool is one of the most valuable cards in almost all tarot games.

In tarot games originating from Italy and France, the Fool has a unique role, sometimes called “the Excuse”. In these games, the player excuses the player from following suit or playing a trump. At the end of the trick, the player takes back the Fool and adds it to their trick pile, giving the trick’s winner the least valuable card from that same pile. If there are no cards to give in exchange, the Fool is worth one point less and an extra point is given to the trick-taker.

In a minor variant option of French tarot, a player dealt trump 1 but with no other trumps or the Fool can make trump 1 behave the same as the Fool. In official tournament rules, a player in this situation must declare their hand and force a redeal.

Can I read my own tarot?

Can I read my own tarot?

Reading your own tarot cards is possible, but it’s important to do so with caution and not to harm yourself. Many people seek solace in tarot cards due to various reasons, such as feeling lost, seeking guidance, or trying to pick up a new hobby. Mariana Louis, a tarot teacher and practitioner of archetypal tarot, advises that learning tarot is a journey that takes time and patience.

Meg Jones Wall, author of Finding the Fool and founder of 3am. tarot, initially found reading the cards confusing but eventually returned to it. They recommend taking the process slow, paying attention to what you’re observing in the cards, and listening to the meanings instead of comparing keywords.

Juan Francisco, a psychic medium, believes that we all have the ability to be psychic and that tarot is a means of expressing that intuition. He believes that the cards speak to themes that have come up in human life and the life’s journey, making them an excellent tool for tapping into one’s intuitive side.

In conclusion, reading tarot cards is a valuable tool for those seeking guidance, direction, or to explore their intuitive side. However, it’s essential to approach the process with patience and curiosity, as it can change the way you approach life.

How do I charge my tarot deck?

How do I charge my tarot deck?

The Full Moon is a popular method for recharging decks, offering manifesting energy and intuitive attributes. To use this energy, spread a cloth on the inner windowsill, spread out the deck, and place the crystal on top. Leave the deck out overnight to absorb the energy. If the sun is hot, be cautious of older or fragile decks that might “bake”. If the weather permits, leave the deck outside, ensuring the surface isn’t damp or damaging.

The earth will absorb any negative energy and imbue the cards with healing, grounding energy. If outside isn’t possible, leave the deck by an open window, but weigh them down in case of rogue gusts. This method can help recharge decks and promote healing and grounding energy.

Where can I sell tarot readings?

Starting a tarot business can be exciting, overwhelming, and nerve-racking. However, it doesn’t have to be. Break down each step of the process to help you launch. One option is to sell your tarot readings on your own website, Etsy, local markets, psychic fairs, Facebook, psychic hotlines, reading for charity, and Fiverr. Creating a website can be a great way to sell your tarot readings, while Etsy is popular for craft and hand-made items.

How do I calculate my tarot card?

How do I calculate my tarot card?

To find your birth card, add the digits of your full birthdate together to find your first card number. For example, if you were born on June 26, 1996, you would have 39 digits. Then, add the digits of your first birth card together to reveal your second card number. Compare your card numbers with a list of major arcana tarot cards to find your birth cards. Tarot birth cards are a combo of 2 or 3 major arcana tarot cards that reveal special insights and truths about your personality and life journey.

There are 12 sets of 2-3 card sets in total, similar to 12 different star signs in astrology. Each set highlights unchanging elements of your personality and how you journey through life. Tarot birth cards are calculated using numerology rather than a range of dates.

Do I need to cleanse a new tarot deck?

Do I need to cleanse a new tarot deck?

Cleanse your deck, whether new or second-hand, to remove residual energy, both good and bad. Consider the journey, storage, and atmosphere of your deck before cleaning it. New decks may have been impacted by manufacturing, transport, and handling. Once you get home, it will need a cleanse.

There are various ways to cleanse a deck, but the power lies in your intent, not the tools used. Crystals, candles, herbs, and incense can be fun and empowering, but the true magic lies in you. Avoid the witch aesthetic and focus on your intent.

If your deck is not brand new, start with the Major Arcana and then the four suits. Use the order that feels right to you within the suit, Aces to Kings, or Kings to Aces. Order the suits according to their seasonal correspondences, such as Wands (Spring), Cups (Summer), Pentacles (Autumn), and Swords (Winter).

Let your intuition guide you, as it’s your deck you’re connecting with. Remember, the power lies in your intent and not the tools used in the process.

  • I had a very lucky day today! I bought my very first deck about 15 years ago, which was the Mythic Tarot. I unfortunatly had to dispose of it because it got water damaged beyond repair, and I was horrified to do that. I recently picked up looking at tarot again recently and I just happen to be in a used book store here in Oklahoma City and what do I find…..the same set I had before!!!! I recently learned this deck was out of print so of course when I found it today, I had to buy it. I feel like I’m getting a second chance with this deck. Definitely going to take better care of it compared to the first time! Some of the cards has some wear and tear, one card is bent on one edge but overall, the deck is in very decent condition. It still had the cloth and book too so I was very pleased to bring this baby home, and for a very good price! Katey, I love your website by the way. Keep up the great work!

  • Such a great article! I have a ridiculous amount of decks and have no deck guilt. I was so solitary for so long that by the time I started interacting with the tarot community there were so many oop decks that I wanted and I used many of these techniques. I will keep a deck in mind and stalk eBay or other places until I find it at a price I can handle.

  • Another way you can get old decks is if you can find the pictures of the front and back of tarot deck on line in a decent size to print at home or a custom card printer. As long as you are not making money off of doing so. For me I want the Universe Cards from Kay Stopforth. I got the book for the cards a couple of years back without the cards. And the pictures she uses were NASA photographs of space. So I am planning on finding those exact NASA photos or similar and making my own deck for the Universe Tarot though the Making Playing Cards. com. All I have to do is design the back of the cards and I am golden from there.

  • Great tips! I have only searched eBay for out of print tarot decks and Italian Sibilla decks. “Vintage”” was one of the keywords I often search for out of print decks. Although, there’s always one out of print that shows up for really cheap: Miss Cleo Tarot! The condition of the cards is sometime I would take into account. More having to do with how worn down the cards are/flimsy the card stock is. The book is always a great bonus but never a requirement for me for an out of print deck. I have bought the German and Spanish editions of Lisa Hunt’s Fairytale Tarot through Amazon Germany and the regular Amazon for only $25.00. Keep in mind that the German version has a white border on it. Not sure why it’s only this version of the deck, but it was bad enough to make me want to get the Spanish edition.

  • I know this was about 4 years ago. I won’t ever have a lot of money 30 Max’s but my question here is how can you tell older versions by comparison of isbn or another way. I see some decks that looks the same but have different isbn? I need to learn so not to be fooled. I do want a older deck for the energy that will come from it. I am 63 and now so drawn to Tarots and want a few decks to broaden by intuition in my reading. Thank you Katey for all your knowledge and sharing your experience. You are so young and experienced.

  • As a Quebecker, I found unusual the tip about having cheaper deck in other langages. For example, I choose to buy The Vision Quest tarot original version in english because the french version is twice the price. I try to figure out why when is Out of print, the rule change and spanish, german, etc etc will be cheaper ?

  • Thanks for the tips! Its true that perusal a lot of articles on youtube can lead you straight to an out of print deck. I usually give up hope on it entirely when this happens, but ill just keep my eye open, because you never know. Another factor for me is i live in Canada. So shipping costs and USD prices really come into play for me and usually end up skyrocketing a deck price. That is generally the reason why i keep to amazon for my tarot purchases. That being said the small city that i live in has one book store, so i always check in there to see if something is available. Thanks for the article! Love perusal. 🙂 If you have any recommendations for some facebook pages that offer trading etc that would be greatly appreciated.

  • That’s great and very clear 🙂 ! I scored Gill tarot for 10 pounds from an older lady online. On top of it my friend got it for me 🙂 Exactly as you described it- the lady didn’t really check how much it’s worth and just wanted to get rid of some of her old stuff. Tarot trading was the best in this regard for me, but also the tip about checking other languages is an awesome one. Thank you for the article K! Very helpful

  • The other thing with Amazon prices is they often amount to “what’s the absolute most I can see someone paying for this? Add $50!” (Or more, sometimes…) There was a kids’ book I really wanted when my own kid was small, had been out of print for around a decade. Amazon always had a couple of copies for around £120-£150, whereas on eBay sold copies were usually going for around £70 (having mostly started at around a fiver). It eventually came back in print, way too late for my kid to enjoy, but I was super happy when my mum got me a copy for probably five quid or so!

  • I got my hands on the Quest Tarot and guidebook, but it didn’t connect to me at all. Now I would like to get a fair price for it (or an exchange for decks I do want) but I don’t know what is fair.. How do I go about figuring out a reasonable price (amazon price is up to $150 for a used deck, that seems totally unreasonable?) and finding a buyer?

  • I am in love with this deck ! My husband preordered it and surprised me with it . He knows I’ve admired your content for over a year now it & had helped me start learning and setting boundsaries and a lot of my trauma work was inspired bc of your articles . The ending to that cycle with the touch of this deck was perfect transition to my next phase .Thank you so much for this . I’ve started arranging them in their groups . Lol but haven’t gotten through all of them yet . I am so excited to work with this deck further in my journey . Thanks once again for all you do and all you share and being real and brave ❤️ thank you ❤️

  • Thank you for creating such a high vibrational tool for us to guide ourselves in such an organized way. I am definitely picking this up. I saw it today at a shop I frequent. I’m going to buy from there to help support local small businesses in my community. Thank you so much! So glad I found you. Much love. ❤

  • Teal! This is amazing! One of my New Years goals is to evaluate person values and align them with my life. This gives a bit of structure to clarify values and be able to sort them against one another. A article that would certainly be incredibly useful for me and maybe others would be a session where you help someone sort their values with the deck. It would be an awesome structure to help guide us at home in thinking about how to go about this. Thanks for your continued excellence and helping us grow, all the best to you my friend.

  • Thank you, I love divination cards and Spirit does too. Case in point is I read Tarot but I also am a medium and it’s not uncommon that as the spirits come through they show me Tarot images as messages for my clients. From the spirit world they can read my energy and give me messages for others in my own language…same thing with divination decks….how you see the cards is how spirit will present them to you because they want to point you in the direction of truth and can read your energy and give you messages in your own language. How wonderful is that? They try to make it easy for us but humans are way complicated.

  • Ordered! I can’t wait to receive it. Your Frequency Tarot is my go to deck out of all the decks I own, it’s always on point with my current situation. The Blind Spot Oracle is my second runner up for when I need some clarity around a situation. I’m stoked to find out how this new Inner Compass deck will enhance my life. Thank you for what you do, Teal! It’s ALL made a tremendous impact on my life – especially in the most trying of times! 🙏🏻💖🤗

  • Total Enlightenment NOW!: The complete and utter end of fear, anxiety, sorrow, despair, loneliness, shame, guilt, confusion, addictions, and all other mental afflictions/disturbances, is the beginning of True Love, Peace, Happiness, Creativity, and Clarity, in each and every moment of daily life, 24/7, once and for all, now forever.

  • I feel compelled to tell you all this for some reason. Did you know that sadness and anger are two sides of the same coin? Sadness is when you direct that feeling (maybe frustration) towards yourself and anger is when you direct that feeling towards someone else. I wonder how many other emotions are like this? Any ideas anyone?

  • And I am the 369, to view this article so I got the Tesla energy guidance to unlock and debunk. Wonderful hands on deck, I don’t have my own yet, but I could already experience from this article, the time taking to make, it is an additional adventure with the advantage of taking all my sentiments, emotions, hopes and desires with me until I am face to face with my North 💫 Star without having to doubt, hesitate, misguide or misguilt myself for expanding my feelings and frequency. I have immensely enjoyed taking this 8 minute Tour in a Tower of Splendor I could be building or better yet I might have already began to one Card at a Time.

  • “some people value personal achievement but are sacrificing for the needs of someone else” Yup, that’s me. I know this was kinda an ad, but thank you Teal for reminding me why I’m on this journey. I will definitely get this deck when I can. I can pretty much do the value system in my head, and then it becomes obvious to me what decision I should make. Thank you again.

  • This looks good, Teal. Thank you. I want to be true to my values and this could clarify them for me. The two articles that I remember of yours are The Value Realisation and the one about finding my North instead of removing my South. Finding my inner compass in a culture that doesn’t share the same values has proved to be very difficult. This might help me solve that. 💖

  • Please Teal Swan and her team may you find a way to make this available EVERYWHERE in the world. This is more than a simple fun game. I would like to see this on stores here in Mozambique 🇲🇿 yes some places are difficult to make order overseas, especially when you are bellow society chain status $$$ 💙

  • 5:07 “… if you don’t know what your values are this universe is gonna put you in all kinds of … … value clarifying situations … a lot of those … situations are not very fun …” Yeah. And if you know, you will still suffer anyways. But by the way, ladies and gentlemen, we could just hear the universe threatening us. The big, the great, the strong universe what created us to be exactly how we are, just threatened us ’cause we don’t know something. Yeah. That’s exactly the universe what I know. (Or maybe, we just need to get a pack of cards.)

  • Do you know the most important part of life? That we are here on the third level. We’ve spent hundreds of billions of eons building these planets and galaxies now it’s time to enjoy it you only got once unless extenuating circumstances occur because there is a que. Real matter reality wahoo were here it’s now. Be here.

  • hey ❤ my values can kind of have one be at the detriment of the other. like I like rest, but right now I’m working overtime lol. 🙃 i have goals or things to pay for whatever. so it would be interesting to see how this array of cards turns out. various cards are kind of my hobby. thanks for sharing. 😊

  • Maybe make it a tree eneagram scheme on your site for people to acces it and maybe print it or copy it to use it in their daily lives, it might accelerate cognitive evolution of prioritization resulting in less conflicts because of the focused direction of a clairified path of an individual. If there are roads we usually go at a normal calm phase, if there is a forest, it usually takes some dedication and skills, the conclusion is that many people were grown into the city and are pathetic infatile repressed explorers who go to the sterile road without exploring a single tree, but they might take a pause to litter some plastic infection objects that become black or rottened when they degrade in time. Plastic is poison.

  • Worked with them twice now. Each time I spent about one to two hours each time with them. The groupings changed or shifted the second time based on different energies within. Really could focus on this particular layout, the one you are demonstrating for hours if one likes, given the number of cards in the deck. Haven’t tried the other set ups, as explained in the little booklet yet, but will. Ty…I am enjoying them. Great concept.

  • I literally bought The Inner Compass Deck last week. I was glad to see that the cards and box are really good quality. There are so many cards … it took me several hours to sort them out in the 4 categories. Some values I knew exactly where to place and then there were the values I really had to think about, which is why it took so long. It´s a wonderful way to really get to know yourself ❣❣❣

  • This made me want to check it out on Amazon, and there it was by Teal ❤️ i know what i truly want in life, but i thought i might use this for my clients? Do i really need it? I asked my oracle cards in alignment with the universe. Pulled the card n33 then n30 and lastly 3 i said ok ok i get it. Ordered the cards. ❤️🙏🏼 thank you soul sister, light warrior. As goddesses we are part of the source light we thrive together for a better world. 🙏🏼 namaste
