How To Calculate The Astrological Dahsas?

Dasha is a crucial aspect of Vedic astrology, involving the analysis of planet positions and their transitional periods to determine the sequence and duration of planetary influences. This process involves analyzing the placement and movements of specific planets in a birth chart to calculate Dasha periods. The Vimshottari Dasha Calculator is an online tool that can help users find out their current dasha details and its effects on their life path.

The Antar Dasha Calculator analyzes an individual’s birth details, such as date, time, and place of birth, using Vedic astrological algorithms to calculate sub-periods (Antar Dasha) within major planetary periods. It also helps users understand how the Mahadasha and Antardasha of each planet influence their life events and provides free online software to calculate their Dasha.

To calculate Dasha, users need to know their date, time, and place of birth. They can then determine their Nakshatra, which is the sidereal Moon’s position in the birth chart and the Vimshottari Dasha system. The first dasha (period) is determined by the Nakshatra that the sidereal Moon is tenanting at the time of birth. Hindus calculate their year on the basis of a Savan day of 60 ghatikas from sun-rise to next sun-rise, each ghatika being 24 minutes long.

Vedic Astrology allocates three nakshatras to each planet, making the number of nakshatra to twenty-seven. The Dasha calculator allows users to know the exact mahadasha, antardasha, and pratyantar dasha (Major period, Sub period, Sub Sub Period) running over them.

How to find mahadashas?

Vimshottari Dasha, or Mahadasha, is a Vedic Astrology concept that determines the period of a planet’s influence. It is determined by the placement of the Moon in a specific nakshatra, with the Nakshatra Lord determining the Mahadasha at birth. If the moon enters a nakshatra at birth, the native experiences the Mahadasha of the ruling planet. The order of the Vimshottari Dasha system is as follows: a person born in Aries in the Ashwini nakshatra will receive the balance Mahadasha of planet Ketu, followed by Venus and Sun.

The Mahadasha results vary with the Lagnas, with benefic or malefic planets having different effects. For instance, Saturn is auspicious for Aries Lagna, while Mercury is auspicious for Virgo Lagna. If a benefic planet is afflicted, the native will not experience its benefits.

How is Dasha calculated in astrology?

Vimshottari Dasha, a Sanskrit concept, suggests that an individual’s maximum life duration is 120 Solar sidereal years, which is the aggregate duration of all nine planetary periods in the order of their operation. The discovery of this system and the reasons behind the varying number of years allotted to each varies. The Vimshottari dasha is the astronomical solar year of 365. 25 days, calculated by subdividing the exact position of the Sun in the zodiac at birth.

V. B. Rele concluded that the trine is the base used in calculations of planetary periods, with each trine beginning with a Janma Nakshatra. A certain order was once visible in the sky, which was also visible in the year 649 A. D. when the 0 Degree of Aries sign nearly coincided with Ashwini Nakshatra. Hindus calculate their year based on a Savan day of 60 ghatikas from sun-rise to next sun-rise, with each ghatika lasting 24 minutes. 30 Savan Days make one month, and 360 Savan Days make one year.

Which is the most accurate Dasha system?

The Vimshottari Dasha system is a Vedic astrology system that divides major planetary periods into smaller sub-periods (Bhuktis). These Bhuktis are like scene breaks where the influence of another planet takes center stage, providing a nuanced understanding of what to expect throughout each major phase of life. This knowledge can help predict major life events like career changes, marriage, health issues, and financial ups and downs.

By analyzing the Dasha and Bhukti periods, astrologers can provide insights into the timing and nature of these events, helping individuals prepare for challenges and make informed decisions throughout their life journey. However, interpreting the Vimshottari Dasha accurately requires expertise, so consulting a professional Vedic astrologer is recommended for further understanding and application of this system.

How to know if Dasha is good or bad?

The quality of a Dasha is contingent upon the nature and strength of the planet in question. Planets that are beneficial, such as Jupiter or Venus, can have a positive impact, whereas malefic planets, including Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu, may exert an adverse influence. The movement of planets during a Dasha also significantly influences its quality. Favorable positions bring good fortune, while unfavorable ones result in challenges.

How to judge Mahadasha?

In the field of Vedic astrology, the assessment of a Mahadasha period entails a comprehensive examination of the birth chart factors to ascertain their quality and potential impact. It is of the utmost importance to consider the strength and placement of the Mahadasha Lord and the planetary influences that accompany it.

How to calculate vimshottari Dasha manually?

In order to ascertain the commencement of the Mars sub-period, it is necessary to multiply the total number of years for which Venus, the Sun, the Moon, and Mars have been observed by 36. This calculation yields a result of 36 x 20 = 720. This yields a result of 72 months, or approximately six years, with the final digit representing days, which is zero days.

How is Mahadasha decided?

Vedic astrology explains that an individual’s life is influenced by the position of a planet in the solar system, known as the Vimshottari Mahadasha. There are nine planets, each with its own Mahadasha and nine Antardasha. An individual’s lifespan is 120 years, and the Mahadasha follows a calendar pattern. The impact of the Mahadasha can be positive or negative depending on factors such as the planet’s position, birth chart, house, and whether the planet is malefic or benefic. The Mahadasha typically lasts for years, but the effect depends on the conjunction of other planets. The Antardasha sequence is similar to the Mahadasha.

The Sun Mahadasha, which rules for 6 years, is beneficial for the lagna and placed in the Kendra or 11th house. It can bring wealth, happiness, prosperity, and comfort, as well as benefits from sun-related items or objects. However, a weak sun can cause miseries, loss of wealth and property, lack of confidence, sun-related illness, demotion, and loss of reputation. To reduce the malefic effect of the Sun Mahadasha, one can perform Surya Dosh Nivaran puja.

  • Very nice explanation 🙏🙏❤️If a Person is running mercury MD, Mercury is posited in 7th House of Scorpio along with Mars .do we need to consider only Mercury Nakshatra lord or mars nakshatra lord also be considered .plz clarify . And you didnt ans my question which asked in d10 chart analysis,I even replied to ur query . Your explanation is so good understandable . Please teach us Birth time rectification KP astrology . Thanks a lot . Pranam Saurabh ji .🙏🙏🙏

  • Let’s say, the mahadasha antardasha planets aren’t offering any results related to 7th house… N the person is in marriagable age… N as per the method, a good probability exist somewhere in 2036, by the time the person would be 47yrs old, single, never married. So are we supposed to give weightage to 5th house, 9th house, 11th house possibilities if 7th Lord is not associated with dushtana houses.

  • Namaskaara Sir, Could we extend the above technique all the way till prana antardasha? If yes, do we verify if the result will fructify with the Mahadasha . i,e in the above scenario we are finding an answer to a question. Conversely could we predict for PAD using the technique. Please excuse the ignorance. Thank you for your time and wisdom.

  • suggest if possible please have a dekho at GMP 3/11, wherein Guruji Gurumurthi Iyer a direct disciple of K.S Krishnamurthi and having taught kp for three decades shares insights on the long drawn and inconclusive approach trying to fix sub and sub sub levels, and is not accurate and has suggested this gurumurthi paddhati which i found unique but not proper source available as such.

  • Thank you for sharing the knowledge, I have a few points which if you can clarify would be great – 1. Which chart to use to check the position of the planets? In Jagannath Hora – bhava chalit or rashi chakra? 2. Sometimes it is possible that the results of the D9 house are also given by the MD/AD planet ? 3. What about conjunctions and aspects of the planets in consideration(MAD/AD lord and its nakshatra lord) ?

  • With regards to the KP articles that you have talked about, please see if you can provide us with some comprehensive chart of the house combination for events – 1,4,11 gain of property, 7,6 is divorce, something on those lines, because that is the key I believe to KP. Or refer us some link with a comprehensive table of the same. Also, if possible please tell us the best software, both freeware and paid for, to use.

  • Beautiful article Saurabhji, you have explained clearly and patiently how to identify the houses in a chart giving results in a particular mahadasha and antardasha, One query, so if someone is running mercury mahadasha and mercury antardasha, and mercury placed in ASHLESHA nakshtra, so if mercury is placed in 12 th house, being Leo lagna, mercury lord of 2 nd and 11 th houses, while in navamsha it is placed in lagna,Sagittarius, will it mean results of 2,5, 11 and 12 th houses. Introducing us to kp astrology was great, though I might differ from other viewers that it would be helpful if you explain how to identify and what factors to consider to know the strength of the planet whose mahadasha we are about to enter. Most of the articles on you tube do not describe this in an understandable manner, looks as if just quoting from a classic textbook, so not like a guru.We viewers expect more from you as you have proved your worth as a great astrologer from your previous articles.thank you!

  • Sir u can introduce us ko astrology…too …u can teach most of the easy method and whatever u have learnt …u can teach us the technique and methods for it …so we can engaged more in ur website..want to know each and every concept of kp like real classes ..u can upload one by one sir..thank u..it just about sharing knowledge that more we get..

  • Adab. Its Mah parah from Pakistan.Your way of teaching is really very easy. Anyone can understand all the concepts very clearly through ur articles.Kindly teach Birth time rectification too becoz its a very difficult concept to apply. Moreover my birth time is also not confirmed so if u teach that clearly May be I could also rectify my birth time as well.Salute to a great student of a great teacher, Respectable Depanshu ji.🙏

  • Krishnamurthy actually propitiated a certain form of Ganesha when he sought knowledge from this branch of astrology. This is according to E K Dhilip Kumar. It is not supposed to be msinstream way of doing astrology if you know what it means. I guess the spiritual aspects of astrology becomes de-emphasised for the sake of predictive results. It may give underiable impact to a person’s future karma since the future karmic actions of a person is so minutely predicted.

  • Your content of this article is on interpreting the area of the results. KP Astrology is always strong on that point. When you go down to sub-lord, the timing of the result is also much studied in KP Astrology. But if you talk about the strength of the results, the usual Parasara and Nakshatra Astrology is used. A planet in D1 in its own sign has full use of the bhava resources. That is why in a Dusthaba in its own sign he may not always come up tops as Dusthanas are not places of light where the resources are unconditional benefits and clear. You need a Vipareet Raja Yoga or an exchange between two Dusthanas (which is a form of double Vipareet Raja Yoga) for that ie. to be beneficial. A planet in D1 in its Nakshstra sign likes to purupsue activities governed by that Nakshatra. It gives rise to auspiciousness related to those activities. A planet in D1 in its Navamsha sign gives fruits of that bhava in a very strong manner. Thus it is very good if a planet is in its own Navamsha in the 11th bhava for victoty (especially the planet Mercury who has all the facts in hand to make informed decisions), in the 1st bhava for health (especially if it is the planet Venus who rules the Mrityunjaya mantra) and in the 10th bhava (especially a Yogakaraka) who blazes his path with the right actions and ultimately come up tops (especially a Yogakara Mars who has a penchant for quick action with an eye for dharma). And of course it is is good for any planet to be sitting in the Navamsha ruled by a planet who sitting in the 1st, 10th or 11th bhavas.
