How To Create An Ethereal Mist In Minecraft?

This guide explains how to create a fog effect in Minecraft, highlighting various ways to use it and saving time and resources. It demonstrates how to create a mist/fog/smoke effect using glass, which can be mixed and matched for a wider range of colors. Light grey glass works best, with 10-12 layers depending on the level of fog. Jeracraft has been using this technique in his videos, such as his End Portal tower video, where he creates corrupted earth with giant cracks and a green stained glass fog effect. Fog is a rendering feature used to obscure the player’s view distance, often for atmospheric effects or to occluding sharp boundaries. The Mystic Rain Pack provides more realistic and atmospheric sounds for rain and thunder, as well as changing the texture of rain and splash particles.

The /fog command allows players to add or remove a specific type of fog in their world. For example, a blindness effect can be achieved by placing a campfire underneath every block, creating smoke-like fog. The Mystic Frog, a critter with a 3.33 (1/30) chance of spawning in place of a regular Frog, appears as an orange and pink frog in the jungle.

  • So I did this in my world but I don’t know if it’s because of lighting or not but it doesn’t look the same as the ones in the vid. I did 9 blocks down instead of 8 and used glowstone but it still doesn’t look as good as yours does. What would cause this?I’m on bedrock so I can’t use any texture packs or anything as well.

  • even better if you alternate between 2 types of colored glass instead of leaving a gap. It makes the effect more intense and you cant see the other layers of glass. Has to be 2 colors that fit together tho, like green and lime, black and grey, pink and magenta etc. Makes for an even better effect. Also you can see the light shining through more, so it’s even more foggy. And lava also work really well instead of sea lanterns if you dont wanna build a farm for that
