How To Depict Witchcraft In Thunder?

In this article, we explore the concept of weather magick, a powerful tool used in witchcraft to create and cast spells. We begin by visualizing an approaching storm in a sacred space, focusing on the elements of thunder, lightning, wind, and rain. By mentally zooming in on the storm, we can connect with its energy and project our spell through it.

Storm Magick is a powerful tool that can be used for various magical works, especially when the storm comes unexpectedly. The Earth element serves as a grounding force in witchcraft, reminding us of our deep connection to the physical realm and nature’s rhythms. By embracing this element’s energy, witches can cultivate a unique form of weather magick, which includes items representing thunder and lightening on their alter, such as gold for lightning, rainwater for rain, incense smoke for storm clouds, and dark colors for thunder.

We also discuss different forms of weather magick and provide several spells to try for summoning different types of storms. The most famous storm believed to be caused by witches was recorded in 1591 during the North Berwick Witch Trials. As witches, we can harness the potent energy of the four elements: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water.

We also explore the concept of Thunder Witches, who visualize a light emanating from within, growing brighter, representing their inner witch awakening. These witches not only conjure good storms but also have a balanced approach to their craft. Some Storm Witches even specialize in conjuring rain for areas in need.

In conclusion, weather magick is a powerful tool for witchcraft practitioners to harness and use their energy to create powerful spells and rituals.

What are witch storms?

Witch storms are intense windstorms that occur in the mid-latitudes, particularly in the Midwest and Great Lakes regions of the US, during late October and early November. They are also known as the “Witches of November” due to their notorious history of causing damage and disasters. These powerful extratropical cyclones can occur in various parts of the world, especially in mid-latitudes, where the warmth of late fall can collide with winter-like air.

Witch storms are formed when increasing temperature contrasts from north to south across the US produce stronger low-pressure systems that generate powerful winds, rain, snow, and thunderstorms. They can also interact with cold air masses from Canada, creating blizzard-like conditions.

What is a thunder spirit?

Thunder spirits are atmospheric vapors that are believed to be responsible for the occurrence of thunder and lightning. They are most active in outdoor settings, where they are responsible for the formation of powerful storms. However, they can also penetrate indoor environments and disrupt electronic devices. The potential effects of thunder spirits include the cutting of lights or fog, the occurrence of distant thunder, the presence of rain, the formation of hailstones, the manifestation of temper, the occurrence of blackouts, the appearance of haunted hail, the development of surges, and the formation of typhoons.

What is a tempest witch?

Tempestarii were medieval weather-making magicians who lived among the common people and had the power to raise or prevent storms. They were subject to respect, fear, and hatred in rural areas. The best known work on tempestarii is “On Hail and Thunder” by bishop Agobard of Lyon, which was criticized for its irreligious beliefs. Villagers paid insurance against storms to tempestarii, and if they failed to prevent a storm, they would face the wrath of the populace, being victimized or killed.

What is the Russian witch?

Baba Yaga is a recurring figure in Russian folklore, possibly derived from the Hag, the third member of the three-part goddess. She is not entirely evil but is known to eat people and decorate her fence with their skulls. She is also known to help people that serve her and order the cycles of nature. Baba Yaga is often called “the Bony-legged” and her hut stands on chicken legs, requiring a turn around for entry.

Linda Ivanits, in her book Russian Folk Belief, discusses the appearance of Baba Yaga and witches. She suggests that the image of Baba Yaga, an ancient, bony, blue-nosed hag, crossed over from the magic tale into preconceptions of what a witch should look like. However, this division is too neat, and memorates and fabulates do not support it. Witches may be of any age, and the popular imagination often sees Baba Yaga as an unnatural longevity.

In the Kievan archives, the burning of an ancient woman suspected of unleashing a plague illustrates this point. Peasants sought an explanation for her failure to do so in the supernatural, seeing Baba Yaga as an embodiment of sterility and enmity to the earth, thus the cause of the plague.

What is the bird of the witch?

The strix, a bird of ill omen in classical antiquity mythology, was a product of metamorphosis that fed on human flesh and blood. It was also associated with witches and malevolent folkloric beings. The strix was described as a large-headed bird with transfixed eyes, rapacious beak, greyish white wings, and hooked claws in Ovid’s Fasti. In a pre-300 BC Greek origin myth, the strīx was a nocturnally crying creature with feet upwards and head below. It was likely meant to be an owl but is highly suggestive of a bat hanging upside-down.

What is the meaning of witch wind?

November gale, also known as the Witch of November or November Witch, is a weather phenomenon that occurs in autumn when strong winds blow across the Great Lakes. These winds are caused by low atmospheric pressure, pulling cold Canadian/Arctic air from the north and warm Gulf air from the south. When these air masses collide, they can result in hurricane force winds that stir up large waves on the lakes. Gordon Lightfoot’s song “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” references the witch, which caused numerous shipwrecks over the years.

In November 1998, another storm hit at 967 mbar, equivalent to a solid Category 2 hurricane. In October 2010, Minnesota and Wisconsin recorded low barometric pressures of 954. 96 and 961. 06 mbar, respectively, equivalent to a category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale. November is known in the Great Lakes region as the “month of storms”.

It is known for its powerful nature in decks that can cast many cheap spells in a turn. In 2012, head designer Mark Rosewater created the Storm Scale after receiving a question about the chance of another mechanic returning on a scale of Storm-10. He considered Storm to be one of the most broken mechanics ever and considered it the least likely mechanic to return to the Standard format.

  • My hair is thick and fast growing……I attribute that to my Mom using rain water as final rinse after every shampoo when I was growing up…. yes…regular shampoo, cream rinse (predecessor to conditioner) and then the FINAL rinse was always rain water from the big barrel out back where we collected rainwater, 50 gallons at a time. 😉 You saying you were going to put some on your hair reminded me of that and how clean and shiny and slippery my hair was, after that rainwater rinse. 🙂
