How To Determine If Your Root Chakra Is Weak?

A weak root chakra can manifest in various physical, spiritual body, emotional, and behavioral symptoms. Physical symptoms related to the legs, feet, and tailbone, or the 3 B’s — blood, bones, and bowels — can include low blood pressure, scoliosis, and chronic constipation. Money issues and general financial instability are also common. Emotional indicators of a root chakra blockage may include feelings of insecurity, fear, and anxiety.

A blocked root chakra can lead to physical issues such as difficulty sleeping, constipation, and bowel issues. Emotional issues may include feeling unsafe, unstable, anxious, and fearful, feeling ungrounded or dissociated. Spiritual issues may involve inability to trust in the Earth to support and nourish you.

A blocked heart chakra can show up as a lack of forgiveness, repressed anger and rage, lack of empathy and gratitude, or lacking emotion. Physical imbalances may include headaches, blurred vision, sinus issues, eyestrain, seizures, hearing loss, and hormone function. Emotional imbalances may include nervousness and anxiety, feeling empty inside and disconnected from others, and not having enough money.

Mental signs of an imbalanced root chakra include pessimism, poor focus, and a negative outlook. The root chakra may also be overactive, “aggressive” or excessive, which restricts energy flow and results in a lackluster will to create. Stability, self-confidence, trust, feeling secure and grounded, and the ability to face adversity are highly dependent on the root chakra.

What are the symptoms of a bad root chakra?

The Muladhara chakra, also known as the root support, is located in the coccyx and is responsible for regulating our physical energies. It is a vital part of our mental state and emotional well-being, and without balancing it, higher chakras cannot be healed or unblocked.

The root chakra is associated with various forms of trauma, such as anxiety disorders, fear, panic attacks, worry, overthinking, depression, nightmares, emotional disconnectedness, anger/rage, and eating disorders. It governs our physical energies, providing us with a sense of safety and security. To balance the root chakra, gemstones like garnet, red jasper, black tourmaline, and bloodstone can be placed on the area while lying down or worn.

Physical exercise, nutrition, and connecting to the earth through activities like walking barefoot on the grass and gardening can help balance the root chakra. Healing vibrations and sound baths with specific frequencies can bring the Chakras into balance, and when these are in balance, so is our mind and emotions.

Asanas, such as Pavanamuktasana, Janu Sirsansana, Padmasana, Malasana, Tadasana, Shavasana, and Virabhadrasana I, can help remove blockages and balancing the root chakra. Movement meditation can also help ground you and connect you to a higher spiritual plane.

Psychotherapy modalities include interpersonal, psychodynamic, Object Relations, and Contemplative for root cause(s) and integration for healing, as well as Reiki-Tummo energy healing. Essential oils like sandalwood, rosewood, rosemary, black pepper, cedar, clove, ginger, frankincense, and myrrh can also be used to support the root chakra.

In summary, the Muladhara chakra plays a crucial role in our mental states and emotions, and maintaining its balance is essential for overall well-being. By incorporating various techniques and essential oils, we can create a more balanced and secure environment for ourselves and others.

What trauma blocks the root chakra?

What trauma blocks the root chakra?

Root Chakra traumas are deeply rooted experiences that challenge our sense of security and physical survival. These traumas stem from the belief that life is an unsafe place, with specific root chakra traumas focusing on physical survival, such as diseases, near-death experiences, violent attacks, abuse, natural disasters, financial struggles, and displacement. These traumas lead to a victim mentality, fearing harm and seeking a predictable life. Anxiety manifests as specific phobias and resistance to change, shaping our worldview.

Sacral Chakra traumas arise from our willingness to embrace life’s powerful experiences and indulge in forbidden pleasures. These traumas stem from daring to fully immerse ourselves in moments that ultimately result in disaster, turning excitement and fulfillment into deep hurt and disappointment. Adventures and peak experiences can turn life-threatening, and contact with pleasure can lead to profound pain. Traumatic sexual encounters, including abuse, can leave our sexual organs and psyche scarred, fostering irrational beliefs connecting sexuality with pain and punishment.

The unbalanced sacral chakra instills the notion that living fully is dangerous, leading to fear of intense experiences, risky adventures, passionate emotions, and uninhibited sexuality. This avoidance of life’s most potent moments can manifest as depression, creative stagnation, sexual dysfunction, addiction, obsessive desires, and an aversion to ecstasy and overflowing joy.

How to know which chakra is weak?

Root chakra imbalances can manifest as physical symptoms in various areas such as the legs, feet, rectum, tailbone, and immune system, leading to degenerative arthritis, knee pain, sciatica, eating disorders, and constipation. Emotional imbalances affect basic survival needs like money, shelter, and food. Blocked energy in the Svadhisthana chakra, located two inches below the navel, is responsible for sensuality, vitality, and fluidity.

Physical symptoms of blocked energy include sexual and reproductive issues, urinary problems, kidney dysfunctions, and hip, pelvic, and low back pain. Emotional symptoms include struggles with relationships, emotional expression, and feelings of impotence, betrayal, or addiction.

What happens when root chakra is weak?

Dr. Shezaim suggests that an imbalanced root chakra can be caused by two main factors: a weak muladhara and childhood feelings of abandonment or material issues. To address this, it is recommended to become physically active, such as walking, yoga, or hiking, and perform 25 semi-squats daily. Apply a mulabandha on your pelvic floor, squeezing the space between your legs, and hold for a few seconds before releasing. Repeat this exercise a few times daily. Lastly, while engaging in activities, affirm that you have everything you need or are safe and secure.

What does an unbalanced root chakra feel like?

Our chakras, or energy centers, can develop imbalances, particularly after traumatic experiences, leading to feelings of depression, anxiety, insecurity, instability, and off-centerness. The root chakra, our first chakra, represents our sense of safety and security, governing our survival and instincts. When healthy, balanced, and in alignment, we feel supported, guided, and protected by our inner strength and higher power. This leads to confidence in ourselves, a sense of connection to our purpose, and the ability to set clear goals.

However, when our root chakra is imbalanced, we can feel ungrounded and uncentered, experiencing low self-esteem, low self-esteem, and overly anxious. We may also lack emotional and financial support from ourselves, others, and the world as a whole. This can result in feelings of self-assurement and peace, as well as struggles with self-doubt, guilt, and shame. These emotional difficulties can persist for years and contribute to our overall emotional health.

What is the easiest chakra to unlock?

The Ajna Chakra, or Third Eye chakra, is the most accessible of the six major chakras. As one’s meditation practice deepens, the ability to activate this chakra independently is developed.

How do I unblock my root chakra?

Shaktidas posits that straightforward practices such as walking in nature and gardening can facilitate the unblocking of the root chakra. Christensen proposes that one may achieve this connection with the physical body through the practice of yoga, Pilates, dance, or outdoor activities. The practice of yoga asana, when combined with conscious breathing, represents a highly effective and dynamic approach to working with the root chakra. Another method for establishing a connection with the root chakra is through footwork.

How to know root chakra is open?

The root chakra, located between the perineum and lower spine, is an ancient Indian spiritual center that impacts health, self-expression, and reality perception. It is linked to focus, presence, stability, survival instinct, dependability, responsibility, belonging, groundedness, caregiving, and the drive to live. In imbalance, other chakras can be affected. The root chakra, resembling a plant’s stalk, is believed to ground humans, similar to how plants tether to the Earth.

What harms the root chakra?

The Etheric body and adrenals are directly linked to the root chakra, which can become blocked when the body is in fight-or-flight mode. This can be triggered by fear of change or feeling secure, causing hormones to malfunction. To address this issue, it is important to focus on positive affirmations such as being a divine being of light, peaceful, protected, and secure. A group meditation focused on the root chakra was also curated by Founder Falli Shah.

Which chakra holds trauma?

Which chakra holds trauma?

The root chakra is a fundamental energy center that is shaped by various events, including financial traumas, loss of home or land, and relocations. These traumas can lead to the belief that the world is dangerous and that we are victims of it. This can result in feelings of anxiety, a desire for a predictable life, and a lack of acceptance of life’s experiences.

However, all traumas are a root chakra phenomenon, and the unbalanced root chakra often harbors unrealistic hope that it will never undergo sudden and unpredictable changes. This accumulation of traumatic incidents can lead to a “no” to life, preventing us from fully embracing life’s experiences. This can sometimes lead to escapism and fantasy.

A significant portion of our mental turbulence is the result of untreated traumas stored in the root chakra. Unresolved memories can also transform into physical pains that spread throughout areas governed by the root chakra, such as legs, feet, and the muscular and skeletal systems. By addressing these root chakra traumas, we can better navigate life and navigate the challenges that come our way.

  • i have felt ungrounded for most of my life and have only now realized why. I had a very dysfunctional childhood and used daydreams as a way of escaping and coping. However i didn’t stop this coping mechanism even after moving out because it had become embedded in my psyche. I always wondered why i have a hard time being consistent and doing anything and also feeling disconnected from reality. I enjoy school and i have dreams i want to work towards but i never seemed to have the will to work towards those goals and studying has been extremely difficult for me. I looked up some stuff about chakras and found that my problem might just be a root chakra problem. I did one meditation on the root chakra and felt immensely better and more grounded. I actually got some things done quite easily. Also although before i disliked the color red now i find i really like this color, it makes me feel grounded and secure. I think im finally on the right path to healing and balancing my chakras. Thank you for these articles they are very helpful.

  • A few more pointers to a weak root chakra that I’m trying to heal: – inability to take care of oneself while getting lost in the demands of the external environment (not taking required breaks during work to avoid burnout, constantly working in survival mode, not having food on time, not walking away from physically/ emotionally unsafe places etc.) – feeling vulnerable and primal fear kicking in when you become exposed as the centre of attention even in a peaceful ambience resulting in intense panic/ anxiety attacks – inability to fully understand the mechanisms and working principles of objects/ systems in the physical world (you may be much better at comprehending abstract concepts, language etc. but seem stupid practically )

  • This is great stuff. Never heard these things. After all these years you are the first person I have heard say that scoliosis is a sign of a weak root chakra. I wore a back brace as a teenager, had 2 surgeries, and was in a body cast. And I have had all those “tribe” and “earth” issues my whole life. Thank you!!

  • I wanted to learn to clear, cleanse, and balance my chakras! Started reading some info about the subject. Watched a few articles. I took an online test and found that my root chakra is under active. I was skeptical but then I ended up perusal this article! This lady described me like she has known me forever! I am going to meditate and practice opening my root chakra and see how I feel in weeks to come!

  • OMG!! I have a reconstructed left leg, had 2 knee surgeries on right knee, I have scoliosis, bowl issue, flat feet & arthritis, back issues. Yes everything you said I have everything!!! I used a pendulum to see if my chakras are open or closed. The pendulum didn’t move at all at my root chakra. My root chakra is blocked. The chakra above it was moving backwards it’s closed. The next chakra it was hardly open. My heart chakra blocked, throat chakra blocked. My third eye the pendulum was moving very little. The crown chakra is wide open. I definitely would like to clear, open and heal all my chakras Thank you so much for sharing this article😇

  • OMG. Everything you said is just a description of me..Traumatic childhood, being placed in foster care as a baby, removed from care then placed back home at the age of three..learning a new language in the process because my parents spoke a different language. Being totally ignored by my mother who favoured my brother until her passing. A father who was himself full of trauma, couldn’t connect. I spent my youth trying to just belong (at school, with friends, at home). Spent my childhood reading adventure books to switch off and take my mind of the harsh reality. I was basically never ‘there’. Had trouble looking people in the eye, I took refuge in books and my own imagination. Ran away from home and haven’t stopped travelling the world since then. Never really felt homesick, on the contrary, I have a crazy way to adapt easily to new surroundings because I lack the basic feeling of fear that most people have. I may have it but maybe misinterpret it for mere excitement. Been struggling with episodes of depression ever since I can remember. I’m 46, still single, been unable to have a stable relationship with a man, playing cat and mouse with them. I am now in Africa feeling depressed again and working on my root chakra😂. I forgot: had weak feet since childhood, that is, I can’t wear heels, even tiny ones, twisted my ankles countless times because I have weak ankles AND been having varicose veins since I was a teenager. Thank you for the article. I’ll work on getting a stronger root chaakra.

  • 1. bunion 2. lower arches 3. peculiar gait 4. knee injury 5. toenail fungus 6. Scoliosis 7. I’ve had over 20 different addresses 8. I am literally perpetually organizing and simplifying 9. (weakness #6 part 1) 10. (weakness # 6 part 2) 11. (weakness #6 part 3) 12. I can’t seem to “value family”. I could care less what my last name is! 13. Existence really doesn’t need me. I feel like an extra in a movie with no script or direction or scene. so…. uh….

  • I got therapy after my mum passed away, and I started yoga and working with myself. However, I do have an issue: I get flatfoot, scoliosis, and financial problems. I used to move from one place to another after six months of one year, issues with my bowels, inconsistency, and family issues. I feel like I do not belong.

  • Some time ago I was experiencing some really bad shit, like horrible thoughts that I had never had, really strong fear out of nowhere, so I saw this article and thought it was root chakra opening. It turned out I was being opressed and meditation only opened me up to this kind of stuff. Isn’t it weird people do this to get more “enlightened” and happy and turn out suffering and hearing that “its normal, it will pass, it’s a dark night that might last 12 years”. Guys, research about people who had problems meditating and who got into the new age and ended up being really opressed, this is real. If you’re suffering, JUST STOP

  • I have trouble feeling warm (I’ll feel like it’s freezing in 78 degree weather sometimes) and I rarely feel safe, I have a lot of irrational fears and anxiety. Do you think this is related to root chakra weakness? I’m almost certain my root chakra is weak but idk if those things specifically are related.

  • Took a chakara test. Apparently my upper chakaras are doing just fine, but my root… is not looking too hot. Im 17, in HS, i play soccer, do a good amount of running. Usually come home with a LOT of leg and foot injuries. Moved recently, so i guess its time to work on it! Thanks for the vid. much love, from nyc <3

  • My goodness Vicki I’ve only just found your website and I listened to this and it’s me – I constantly move, I had childhood trauma at 3yrs +, I don’t feel I belong in this time or world and I have no family. I’m going to see if you have some vids for me to help myself as I’m based in the UK so can’t visit for a session. I also have diffuse hair loss which nobody can explain despite correct bloods, thyroid etc is this also a sign? do you have any suggestions for this too? thanks so much x

  • Just ask ABBA I make you strong in your weakness. I was like that now I am doing way better. Good tones with proper pitch. Plus think i am ruby red it is ruby red. Then attach to mothers heart in your merkaba. The divine even teaches me Tara Yoga. God is 2hands and heart. Peace is love is light is I am.

  • It’s funny, my dreams told me to work on my root chakra. I started hanging around my bloodstone crystals again and here I am, cleaning my home. I’ve lived here five months & I never actually had it look this nice before. Also, cleaning and organizing isnt a chore, I’m enjoying every minute of this. Plus today is Saturday, ruled by Saturn with is about discipline & responsibility. I feel great. Also: Not fitting in with my family & not having a tribe of my own- that hit me like a sack of potatoes, Vicki. That explains a whole lot.

  • I have many of the symptoms was paralyzed from herniated disk had 2 surgeries I’m left with drop foot from 1997 then recently went down again this time was just swelling on nerve Now I’m having shoulder pain my knees are acting weak my but no ones been sore was told to work on my root chakra After I eat my left side tummy cramps like,my legs go numb when standing still yikes Thankyou all be checking out your visions

  • I have been working on my root chakra for years and it’s just not opening. I stopped for awhile and recently received a sign it was time to start again, this time with the mantra Lam, guided meditation and color red everywhere. I have been doing so for about a week now and my tail bone is very sore. Is this normal. Have you had this experience. Thanks for your articles. Namaste

  • Wow, i definitely have this. Just wow. Im surprised i havent noticed this in 10 years. I have a 77 degree scoliosis, and problems with staying focused / scheduling. I also have ‘lymphangiomatosis’, where i have lynphatic malformations all over my body. I’ve had low platelets and blood counts too, especially during childhood.. it was veryy bad. I really need to do work on this. What would you advise? Do i have any other chakra imbalances?

  • Can lack of proper rest and sleep cause a weakness? I didn’t get much sleep the other night, I woke up the next day feeling completely unsafe for no apparent reason,I once a week I take my local bus to the city I live by, and continue on the city buses. I kept getting a worry that I missed the buses or my stop. Considering I ride them often and know the schedule this shouldn’t logically even be a concern of mine.I’m usually very optimistic and more in a constant positive vibration. The only thing I can nail it down to is staying up waaay too late. I felt like a paranoid space cadet!

  • Just a thought… Have you noticed any decendents of slaves having more weakness in the root chakra? I dont know if its just myself but slavery isn’t that far generationally in my family. My great grandmother was born just 40 years after slavery ended in the Caribbean. & i feel like i really don’t have roots. Not real ones. My family is all over the world but i don’t know my family roots before slavery. Ain’t gonna lie I feel robbed even now when i know there’s a couple generations born in England & more than a couple in the Caribbean. That’s still not my ancestral roots though. Does this make sense? This is how i think anyway. I’d love to know where my African roots started. What’s your thoughts on this? Or anyone’s? I’d love to know it isn’t just myself feels this way lol.

  • HEY VICKIE! I was trying to split my Chakras open but i couldnt align my roots. How would I go about to find where my Chakras would be coming out of. So far, if i try 2 hard my nose starts to bleed, is that normal? Also what would you reccomend for someone who has cncr for chakra treatment? Any gemstones good for healing 2?

  • Hi Vicki! Well, I have a broken tailbone (rollerblading incident) and I never can get my root chakra in check!! Do you think that could be part of the problem or do you have any experience with broken tailbones and root chakras?? Thank you so much, there is absolutely zero info on this anywhere on the internet!!!

  • So I think my husband has a weak root chakra..he doesn’t feel like he belongs to his families (bio & step family..) + the other symptoms & signs, but he also has that other sign you said is a sign of an overactive chakra. So is that possible and would it make any sense to have some signs from underactive and overactive chakra? Can you explain why? Thank you.

  • NO NO NO!! Tendency to keep moving cannot be weak root chakra. It should rather be strong as you feel secure and confident in different places. Fear to move out is in fact a sign of weak root chakra. So many great sages had been roaming all around the India, they definitely didn’t not have weak root chakra. Sorry.

  • What if you are a traveler because you love to travel? It seems silly to just say- oh you have a weakness. No, I just love travel! Lol… And what if you came from an abusive family and you’ve cut them out of your life? Are you saying that I just need to accept them back into my life in order to “be close to my tribe” and strengthen my root? That seems silly too. I don’t want them as my tribe, I want a new tribe
