The MagicBand+ is a popular Disney car accessory that can be checked for battery status using various indicators. If the fob battery fails, it can still start the car by holding the fob next to the start button, which uses RFID technology. The MagicBand+ does not require a battery to respond to RFID when held next to the start button.
To check the battery level of an existing MagicBand, you can use the My Disney Experience App or press the small button on the back of the MagicBand+. The battery status can also be checked via the My Disney Experience mobile app if the MagicBand+ is paired with your mobile device. You can also check the battery life at the front desk of your Disney Resort hotel, Will Call, or a Guest Relations location at any of the theme parks.
Power off the MagicBand+ by pressing and holding the button on the back for 6 seconds until it buzzes twice, then glows red to indicate it has powered off. You can also check the battery life on the MagicBand+ itself by pressing the button on the back of the band.
The MagicBand+ generally lasts about two years, with lights blinking green when fully charged and red and yellow when very low. Touchpoints will always work, and long-range batteries last for at least two years. When charging the MagicBand+, there are three levels of charge displayed on the My Disney Experience App. Being active doesn’t necessarily mean the battery is still working; they will remain active unless you deactivate them.
Flashing Red indicates that you should charge the MagicBand Plus ASAP, while Flashing Green indicates a fully charged battery. It is unclear if there is a way to determine if the battery in a MagicBand is still live or waiting until you get there. They will work for everything except on-ride photos, and you can check in MDE that they still show as Active and reactivate them if necessary.
