How To Interpret Candle Magic?

Candle magic is a powerful art that uses the element of fire to read messages from the spirit realm. It involves choosing the right color candle, setting intentions, and performing simple rituals and spells. Candles have been associated with certain intangible qualities for centuries, and their colors can be used to visualize white light surrounding them or sign them with herbs or incense.

Setting your intention is crucial in candle magic, as it determines the outcome of your spell or ritual. Candle flames can flicker to the north, south, east, and west, indicating a spirit’s message about the effects of your spell. Pyromancy, the practice of reading candle flames, is deeply rooted in Greek mythology, as fire was a vital part of life.

A fast burning candle can indicate strong magic, while too fast burns may indicate temporary magic. This guide can help you interpret candle flames when doing candle magic spells. Madame Pamita offers step-by-step instructions for specific candle spells and reference materials to create your own spells. The Book of Candle Magic is a simple guide to reading and scrying candle wax, including how to interpret wax patterns and perform a wax reading.

In summary, candle magic is an effective way to connect with intuition and spirit, and this beginner’s guide provides a comprehensive understanding of the art and purpose of candle magic.

What are the 7 candles?

The menorah, a symbol of human knowledge and creation, is a symbol of the Sabbath and the seven lamps. The central lamp represents God’s light, while the six lamps represent human branches. A nine-branched menorah is associated with the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah, which was a miraculous event after the desecration of the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem. The Talmud prohibits using a seven-lamp menorah outside the Temple, so a Hanukkah menorah has eight main branches and a raised ninth lamp, the shamash (servant) light, to kindle the other lights. The word shamash was not originally a “Hanukkah word” and only became associated with the holiday in the 16th century. This type of menorah is called a hanukkiah in Modern Hebrew.

What is the candle method for studying?

“Candle Study” is a study method where students light candles before studying, using them as a timer to determine their study duration. When the candle burns out, students wrap up their sessions and post time-lapse videos on TikTok. However, Anna Masterson, a teacher at Atom Learning, warns that this approach can lead to burnout, which can cause loss of enjoyment, motivation, memory, and cognitive functioning. She suggests that students should maximize shorter, focused sessions, as our brains require regular breaks to retain information.

A single session should not last more than 45 minutes for 12 year olds and above. Parents should help children form healthy learning habits from an early age, helping them develop confidence in their learning methods. Instead of using arbitrary measurements or competing with a candle, it is better for students to maximize their time with their studies.

What powers a candle?

What powers a candle?

A candle burns by using a heat source, typically a naked flame, to light the wick, which melts and vaporizes a small amount of wax. This wax combines with oxygen in the atmosphere to ignite and form a constant flame. This flame provides enough heat to keep the candle burning through a self-sustaining chain of events. As the wax is melted and burned, the candle becomes shorter, and the end of the plaited wick bends and gets consumed in the flame. The incineration of the wick limits the exposed portion of the wick, maintaining a constant burning temperature and fuel consumption rate.

Pre-19th-century wicks required regular trimming to promote steady burning and prevent black smoke release. In the 20th century, special candle scissors called “snuffers” were produced to prevent this. Modern candles have wicks that curve over as they burn, ensuring that the end of the wick gets incinerated by fire, thereby trimming itself. A candle flame is formed by wax vaporizing on burning and is widely recognized to have between three and five regions or “zones”.

How does a magic candle work?

Trick candles, also known as magic candles, are novelty candles that can relight themselves by igniting magnesium inserted into the wick. This allows the paraffin vapor from a blown out candle to ignite itself. However, they were banned in Canada in 1977 due to potential fire risks. Consumers may throw these candles into the trash, believing they have been extinguished, only for them to relight. The National Candle Association recommends immersing the candles in water before discarding them. Trick candles are not safe to use outside of Canada, and they pose a significant health risk. To avoid this, consumers should be cautious when using them and avoid using them in public places.

What do candles mean spiritually?

Candles hold significant significance in various belief systems, serving as a source of hope, healing, and connecting with souls departed. In the Christian faith, candles are used to enhance worship experiences and appreciate faith beyond human understanding. Rev. Father Lithemba Busakwe of the Anglican Catholic Church explains that candles symbolize Christ, the Light of the world, as he said, “I am the Light of the world; the one who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have light and life” (John 8:12). How do prayer candles work?

Candles are a symbol of prayer, solidarity, and gratitude to God. They are often made of beeswax, as worker bees do not contribute to the species’ reproduction, leaving it to queen and drone bees. Virgin worker bees dedicate their lives to creating this wax, representing Our Lady, the virgin mother who gave birth to Christ. The pure beeswax also represents Christ’s pure flesh. What is the 3 candle rule?

Three inside up and down patterns are candlestick patterns that occur before an uptrend is replaced with a downtrend. The first pattern is a long, bearish bar followed by a smaller bullish bar, and the third candle closes above the second candle’s high, indicating a potential shift from a downtrend to an uptrend. The second pattern is a bearish setup with three candles, the first being a long bullish bar, the second being a smaller bearish bar, and the third closing below the second candle’s low, indicating a possible transition from an uptrend to a downtrend. • I LOVE candle magic! I am loving all your articles but especially these, I’m learning so much. Thank you for this. And just because you asked, I’ve had all of these situations happen to me with candle magic. I even had one that went out fast and would never relight.. it was a brand new candle. I begrudgingly threw it away. I wondered, when you were talking about this type of situation, do you just throw away the candle? (With gratitude always) Can you try to cleanse yourself and environment or change your prayer, and try to light it again?

  • 🙌🏽 love this topic because I always use candles along with other elements in my workings. I find that when the intense energy parts of ritual are finished such as set up on all levels ok, altar is set, my mind and body are tapped in, I always have incense sticks or dried and or fresh herbs/ spices going, preparing my circle or space essentially, writing and preparing that according to what it is I’m doing or any last finishing up say a poppet, cutting ribbon or twine, dressing candles and making sure everything is fire safe, offering, and so on..then the opening, I always use my singing bowls and or tuning forks, chimes. Intensity is there as well as this calm laser focus intent, connection is strong..energy flowing, so focused yet in a state of calm sureness..all is flowing in unison, harmony during this period where I may be binding, doing knot spellwork, whatever it may be I carry out my workings fire water fresh and dried herbs and always at least one candle usually 2 and sometimes 3. once that is done energy shifts. Focus remains yet the intensity drops a few levels to a frequency perfect for this part of my work. I can sit back and put my feet up, It’s meditative and a very intimate time as I work with spirit, connect and focus all together. It is almost like working with a coven except I have my guides, ancestors, angels, the creator, lightworkers will assist and spirits who have come to support and assist with the workings. The energy is of love, understanding, hard work, support, just all the right ingredients if you will.

  • I’ve been doing work using my candels and my pendulum:I’ve watched how I can put my energy into a candle and let’s say the other candle is weak cause the person I’m working on is weak…meaning sick from onething or another…or your other half is low on energy…Iam a master at manipulating energy: so when I input my energy in the flame…I’ve watched it decrease and the flame of the other candle increase…very power…I never new one can transfer energy from one candle to the other..but I know now…Thank you for sharing your gifts wisdom and talents.

  • I have a nack for reading candle flame by the grace of the creator 🙌 I feel like alot of the time when I do my little teal light prayers for folks I can read from the flame how things are going or how things are going to go its somthing I pay very close attention to when I do my little prayers and workings

  • I always have a flikkering flame, and a steady flame so I know my ancestors and spirit guides are always with me.But yesterday I just light it started to go so unbelievably high, with a beautiful long orange flame, I started recording it, it lasted for about a minute. I don’t use candles for spells or magic or anything. I did it once to manifest, but most of the time I just sit in silence with it, connecting with my past on loved ones, it just makes me feel so close to them when I feel sad or lonely. I speak to the candle and it responds to my questions. I hope I’m not doing anything wrong. Sometimes I don’t know what I’m doing but it seems to work🙏but I always pray first❤

  • For 36 weeks I have been burning glass sleeved candles on the Ancestors Altar (This is week 37). The glass is clean except for wax residue. You didn’t mention wax residue, So I thought I should ask? Also, what does it mean when the plate under the candle breaks but nothing else? Thanks in advance. Thank You for another fun informative article!

  • I was doing some past life trauma work with a black chime candle and I work with Nyx, a Greek goddess of the night, and half way through I was pouring that trauma energetically to the flame and it cracked and popped and I snuffed the candle out after since I was healing some residual anger. I never had a candle due that before and took it as a good sign.

  • Peace and Blessing to you, my name is Cicely I follow you on social media and I wanted to ask you some questions about a few of your oil series what can I use to substitute in place of 1. Pyrite 2. Cinquefoil 3. Abre Camino 4. Patchouli 5. Grains of Paradise 6. Alodestone 7. Rue 8. Asafoetida Powder 9. Calamus Root 10. Cassia 11. Sandalwood 12. Dragons Blood 13. Mandrake 14. Orris Root Please let me know and thank you for help.

  • God I love her she gets right to it giving us tons of information thank you so much. An old time root worker I knew when I was a teen said if the wick’s still centered when a hex breaking or cleansing candle explodes it means the curse and or evil is broken she had one that split right down the middle that was trippy and cool her friend recovered fast

  • I want to ask for long time this ? Anyone who has an answer please comment. So I put a Sabbath candle in a 2 inch votive glass. Of course what happened was the wax filled up the glass and the wick fell over into the wax but the flame never went out. Not only did it not but the flame was huge. It filled the whole inside of the glass as it was only half way filled with melted wax. The flame grew at least 3 inches above the rim and the flame split into to flames. The crazy part is too that the glass should have broken but it didn’t and never went out by itself. I wish I could upload the photos that I took of this. It was truly Amazing to watch.

  • I am new to being a witch in this lifetime. Not sure if popping is the same as what I experienced today… Was doing a spell with a white candle for my estranged daughter to repay her debt made several years ago. At one point halfway through….the candle shot sparks….not sure if it meant the same as popping. If it means something different than popping….what else could it mean?

  • hello Elemi!!! what happens when you light those couple candles for love ( the ones they come hugging each other) what does it means when the two wicks become just one, is that good?? ……please let me know because I’m doing a series of those candles for me and my connection and i notice that the two wicks became just one big and nice flame😃😃

  • Freddie is my soul mate from twin flame to soul mate from 12 years together since 23 and I met him on the bus in McHenry. I have used candles before to do some ritual work when I was able to before the constant distraction where people will never leave me alone when it was just me and Freddie Staley when he slept over on Tuesday and Saturday and he would light the candles with the lighter for it with a long neck and I will do a ritual for 5 minutes or longer depending on how long I want to and afterwards I blew it out the flame because I was all about being safe then sorry for keeping my house safe was important to me and I remember that some guy set his bed on fire with a cigarette and I’m glad I saved people their lives while I risk my life to be a hero that they need

  • I recently started doing a self love ritual with venus. I am a total noob and got a little concerned on how the candle was burned. At first i was getting the black smoke. But than it started flickering dancing and popping and turned in a twin flame. I started mediating and when i open my eyes that flame was so high i was like god damn if it gets any higher its going to reach the roof. Ill admit my prayer was ALL over the place. I probably mixing petitions that should probably be reserved for another candle. What’s interesting is that after i feel asleep i had a dream that my mother walked into my room and picked up the glass candle and told me i did it wrong but the sigils and affirmations where very pretty. What that means or how this spell will manifest is a mystery. Maybe i can post an update on how the situation develop by next full moon!

  • I have a candle that burned down good and right at the bottom it divided into two flames and it popped but looked like the flames were “fighting ” it would get small and merge together and get bigger and then split up again and “fight / dance “🕯️ I’m staying up to watch the end of it all but I don’t think I can stay up 😆

  • Thank you so much for a very informative article. I have a question regarding the flame. Once I made a petition for clarity on a matter that was troubling me and my flame burned high and steady. At the end when the candle was finishing and about to extinguish two little sparks flew out one after the other, no sound they just floated up like little starts in a steady manner was beautiful, I never seen it before but I was wondering if it meant also whether there was some push back from the spirit world

  • I was burning a white candle today and I run out of the house to how it was going on, i didn’t understand it why it was, but I was doing some cleaning spiritual work, from I light the candle and it starts burn, i think the house was going to burn down, the flames was 6″ inc long and it don’t go down until I told it to turn off because it was finished burn,,it’s a long story, I didn’t know I could talk to the candle and it’s is responding to me,, today was something to talk about a swear

  • May i ask two questions about flames ? Some times in my green candle that i use to attract money(works for me) and good luck the flame goes high and at the top it continues higher with a line of flame really slim what may cause this. And also one of my candles (I don’t remember right now what colour was) the flame was like the capital letter C and it wasn’t moving for a few seconds until it started moving again that was repeated for few times, should i worry about those?

  • This was great and helpful! I’ve heard more ppl speak on the meaning of the wax residue or not burning all the way, than the flame. I appreciate this input. I wonder….DOES ANYONE KNOW…what it means when the candle flame burns straight and steady but when you look at it, it starts dancing, sometimes very dramatically. Then when you look away, it stops and burns steady? 🕯

  • There’s one flame you didn’t mention and I was waiting for it because I really want to know what it meant. I had a flame that was pulling pulling and long. It scared me at first because it was so much fire. It was pulling with a little wiggle and it wasn’t flicker or jumping. It was a black candle, it burned clean and left white soot on the glass. I can never find a definition for that type of flame.

  • Something just happened which i have never seen before ok my flame was big yellow then line green then orange at the top now this is one flame, everytime i tryed article it or take photo it stop 🫣so time i ask a question this would happen big flame and no mess with the candle, this is a wish candle which i always use😮

  • I am a red candle once I speak to it and see what I want it is it it is speaking my words specially, when I speak from my stomach through my heart, it dances it stays steady, then leans to the left then dances around. It’s small but once I speak it grows and it gets bigger with my voice. I want to know if this is a sign of whoever is doing spells on me and I am returning and asking for that one person to only think of me due to these people interfering in our relationship. Is this something you can interpret for me please

  • I was doing really well but my mom touched the candle so it went out! I tried to lit it again but it was so difficult because it was at the bottom of the glass, I had to touch it with a stick many times till it was lit but the wax got mixed up and some ash went inside is that ok to continue? Or should i throw it away while it still has some wax left?

  • I can’t really find any information on my question that I have here but what is your opinion on people with physical or mental disabilities practicing any forms of magic or spirituality? For example I am legally blind and I was wondering what I could do to be more in tune the speaking with Spirits or different entities and I would love to follow the path of the mystics or shamans. I wish Tikal & Spirits are journeys and help others but I don’t know if the signs I received from Spirits are true or just coincidence for example if I call in a certain spirit and they pop up on YouTube is it just because I have searched it before and that’s just the YouTube algorithm. Do you have any knowledge of if there are even blind practitioners in magic?
