The Magic Bullet blender may not turn on due to various reasons, including power issues, blades not spinning, or the blender not blending ingredients. To troubleshoot this issue, first check if the blender is connected to a power source and ensure the power cord is securely plugged in. If the motor stops working, unplug the motor base and let it cool down for at least 15 minutes before attempting to use it again.
The Magic Bullet Mini® has an internal thermal breaker that shuts off the unit when it overheats. Letting the thermal breaker cool down should allow the motor base to reset. If the blender is not powered on for more than a minute at a time, unplug the blender and let it cool down before reusing.
If the blade is jammed, unplug the power base and carefully remove any food or debris that may be stuck around the blade. Unplug the NutriBullet blender and let it rest for a few minutes before plugging it back in and trying to use it again.
If the NutriBullet Juicer Pro™ is not turning on, it is likely that it is either assembled improperly or that it has overheated. The power button will flash, and the problem may be due to the motor being overworking and requiring more liquid/soft foods in the blender.
- Safety First: Unplug the Magic Bullet blender and ensure it’s completely powered off before starting any repairs.
- Disassemble the blender: Remove the motor, power cord, and other components from the blender.
- Check for any debris in the power cord port or blender base.
- Reassemble the blender as per the manufacturer’s instructions.
- If the issue persists, contact customer service for further assistance.

Why has my blender stopped working?
Blenders have built-in thermal protection to prevent overheating, which may be activated when using the blender for extended periods or blending tough ingredients. If the blender suddenly shuts off during blending, troubleshooting tips include unplugging and cooling it for at least 15 minutes, checking if the vents are blocked, adding more liquid to the mixture, and ensuring proper ingredient layering. To prevent this issue, layer ingredients properly, cut large items into smaller pieces, and partially thaw frozen fruit.
If the blender is powered on but the blades aren’t spinning, it could be due to jammed ingredients or failing components connecting to the blade assembly. Troubleshooting steps include turning the blender off and unplugging it from a power source, removing ingredients from the jar, cleaning around the blades, testing the blades, and inspecting the components. If the blades are still not working, inspect the jar pad, drive coupling, and socket to ensure they are aligned correctly. If the drive coupling is stripped, it won’t spin the blades properly, which can be easily replaced.
Can a Magic Bullet overheat?
To avoid a burning smell in your Magic Bullet blender, avoid common mistakes such as not cleaning thoroughly after each use, using the blender on a high-speed setting without a break, blending hot liquids without cooling them slightly, and using a damaged or worn power cord. These can overheat the motor and cause a burning smell. To maintain a smooth and odor-free blender, follow a regular maintenance routine and follow these tips:
- Clean the blender thoroughly after each use to remove residue from previous blends.
- Use the blender on a low-speed setting for extended periods to avoid overheating the motor.
- Blend hot liquids slowly to prevent excessive heat and a burning smell.

Why is my bullet not starting?
To diagnose a battery issue, ensure the battery terminals are clean and not loose, and check the voltage. Extending the side stand or kick stand can kill the engine and starter circuit, but there is a safety feature to prevent taking off with it down. A 2 wire switch is fitted on the side stand, and unplugging it will disable the switch. If the engine shuts off again after disconnecting the switch, switch the ignition switch to the off position and then turn it back on.
The check engine light should illuminate and turn off, indicating a fault. If the light doesn’t flash, switch the kill switch on and off a few times and listen for the fuel pump running for a few seconds. If the check engine light comes on and then turns off but the starter motor isn’t turning on, put the bullet in neutral to override the clutch safety switch and press the starter button to spin the starter.
How do you fix a dead blender?
To fix a faulty in-line fuse in a blender, remove the base, locate the fuse in the wire from the multispeed switch to the motor, and disconnect the wire. Use a continuity tester or multitester to check the circuit. If the circuit is open, the fuse is blown. Replace the faulty in-line fuse with an identical rating. The motor typically withstands many years of use, but if needed, a new blender may be less expensive. Test the motor’s operation using an ohmmeter.
Why is my bullet not ejecting?
A round failure is defined as the failure of the casing to exit the gun chamber. This phenomenon is often attributed to a number of factors, including the presence of damaged extractor claws, the presence of debris within the gun chamber, or the deterioration of the case rims. To prevent round failure, it is essential to ensure that the firearm is properly cleaned, that its components are not damaged or faulty, and that the extractor and extractor spring are inspected by a reputable gunsmith.
Why does my Magic Bullet keep stopping?
If your NutriBullet blender stops working, it may be due to an accidental unplugged cord. Check if the cord is still plugged into a wall socket and not disconnected during use. If unplugged, reconnect it and try blending again. If loose wires or internal components become exposed, use the replacement guide to remove the exterior casing. After removing the casing, inspect the internal parts for any exposed wires or components that may need reattachment.

This was a great article but I have a simpler thing to try first. I watched this article and a few others and decided to try and clean up the switches without taking it apart. Since I watched this article I could see all of the interior of the bullet the motor and such was much lower than the point where the switches were. So, I put less than an inch of extremely hot tap water and a drop of dawn dish soap into a large pan and then turned the bullet upside down emerging the switches into the water, and let it soak for about 15 minutes. I removed it from the water and placed it face down on a kitchen towel for 30 minutes to let any excess water drain out. Then I used a small bottle brush and knife to depress the switches and clean the areas out. Worked like a charm. I couldn’t see the dirt before cleaning but could see it after I removed it from the water. Was a quick and easy fix. UPDATE: If your container is missing one of the tabs that depresses the switches it will not work. I just found this out and when I used another one that had all 3 tabs it worked.
I found my wife’s Nutribullet in the “to trash” box; she said it was dead. I wanted to confirm her diagnosis before we actually discarded it. I guessed it was a broken wire in a motor winding, but on a whim I googled and found your article. From your description I knew ours had the same problem, and it did. With your help I fixed it; runs better than ever now. Thank you.
YudaMan, you certainly are the man. Old Nutribullet 600 series bought easily over 10 years ago. Hate throwing anything away especially if it can be fixed. Only one of the switches wouldn’t deploy. Followed along with the article and dismantled it all. Housing was slightly different with more parts. The activator switch was just really sticky. Cleaned and reassembled. Works like new. Liked and subscribed. Go mile maith agat a chara.
Hi there! I’m a girl in my late twenties, live alone and away from home. I use nutri bullet to make smoothie every day. Now it stopped working all of a sudden when I turned it on Mine wasn’t jammed so I almost clicked out of your article. Then I decided to disassemble because I didn’t hear a second clicky sound even though I could push down I disassembled exactly like you said and see that the plastic part is broken just like in your article. Superglue wouldn’t hold it put. So I used a super strong nylon thread looking thing from my small bag and looped it and pulled it up and re assembled it. Now there’s thread hanging out from the side but it works. I tried replacing the fuse and it didn’t work now I know it was the broken tab !!!!! Idk what gave me the confidence to do what you did. But I’m so proud. Idk how long it’s going to work but I tried and I fixed !!! Hopefully it works for another 4months that’s all I need . I’m just hoping I put the wiring back correctly that’s all I’m worried about. Any advice?
You are a GENIUS! Received this exact NutriBullet as a gift from my daughter and when it stopped working, I was crushed. (Full disclosure: I didn’t screw the cup on tightly and the liquid spilled out everywhere.) Your article was the first I found on YouTube. I, too, had a broken piece inside but used superglue to reattach. Worked like a charm. This article has excellent visuals, runs at a steady, reasonable pace while explaining the how-.tos, and narrated with a clear calm speaking voice . I was back up and running in less than an hour. Thank you SO much.
Thanks YuDaMan – You da man! Your fix has got my Nutribullet running again! It’s guys like you who, through your articles, save us money, give us the satisfaction of restoring functionality to otherwise broken appliances, and make the landfills smaller. BTW, I also had a broken standoff like you did. I saw that the threads stopped around the break, so used a slightly longer wood screw to extend the threads into the stub. Works well so far.
Thank you! I just released the 3 white switches by scraping the gunk off. I am not going to take it apart. It allowed me to make the smoothie I desperately needed before the base started smoking, but that was fine! I’ve had this thing for several years. I’ll order a new one, but thanks to you I got one last smoothie out of it.
OMG, I can’t believe that I was able to do this and now my bullet works again! The only mis-step that I did was not take the all important picture of the wiring before I removed that white tab that held the wiring down. However, I was able to finagle it back. My husband was surprised that I was able to fix it all by myself. 😊. THANK YOU!!
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I was getting ready to throw out my NutraBullet. Out of desperation, I thought I would try YouTube. I came across your article. It seemed easy enough. I have never taken apart any small appliance and have limited handy skills. I followed your instructions and now it works like new. Thank you for saving me $70.
At 3:45sec. in you talk of a ‘stand off’ switch being broken. That is what happened on my nutribullet. I did not “super glue” it as you mentioned, what I did was find a screw that was slightly longer with a pointed end and similar threads and I carefully screwed that into the same place. It went in snug&tight. It is strong and holding its place. The nutribullet is fixed! I was so frustrated that I couldn’t get it to work after taking it apart and then back together. The 2nd x, I checked what you had mentioned and that was the actual problem! not the dirt or sticky stuff. This unit was pretty clean, it was the broken ‘stand off’ switch. But I needed that info to know to check that, then fix it. So Thanx
Oh bless your heart! Thanks so much for sharing this info. My Nutribullet was going into the trash today as it stopped working. I found your article and it works again and I didn’t even have to take it apart. I two had t one of those cream colored tabs that didn’t go down, so I kept hitting it until it did. Thank you so much!🥰 I made me a smoothie a minute ago.😋
Thanks so much, I followed your instructions and my nutribullet now works! I knew I shouldn’t have listened to my husband who told me to throw it out! I am also now extra careful not to overfill the cup in future, as it’s the spillage that causes the switches to stop working. With metal screws and plastic inserts, I am not sure I want to take it apart again, I also broke one the standoffs.
Mine stopped working. I learned from your article that 2 of the little white notches needed to click when depressed .One of the 3 notches on the cup had broken off so I figured which of the 3 notches need to move and positioned the cup so that the remaining 2 notches on the cup fit into the necessary slots. Works perfectly now, thanks!
Thank you! This article helped me tremendously! Lol. I just came home from the gym and threw all my ingredients into the blender not knowing that it wouldn’t work. I fumbled through YouTube and your article helped the most!!! I think it was the broken standoff in mine that kept the switch from activating. So I switched it like you recommend and super glued the piece that didn’t activate anything. It now works! Thank you!
Thanks …. this worked for me. I couldn’t tell if the standoff was broken but what I noticed immediately was that the activator switch housing was not flush against its base so I took a risk and with a easy twist of the screw, I was able to get the activator switch housing to seat properly to where when I pushed on the switch, there wasn’t any movement .. meaning that the housing did not pull away from there base. How long it will operate like this is anyone’s guess, but I am fairly inventive and will figure out a way to re-attach the housing. It’s a shame that we can’t get parts for this because I threw one away about 2 years ago and never investigated what the problem was and it was probably this very thing. Irritating, because it seems this design is doomed to fail and most people will toss it out and just buy another one 🙁
Thank you “SO” very much for your Informative article of how to get my NutriBullet up & running again! 🙂 It have had this in storage for a long time…plugged it in & “No Go!” I have used it only a few times in the past. So started to watch how you started with the basics took care of the problem (Well Done) & pushed down on the 3 white buttons as shown in the beginning of the article. I have my “NutriBullet Up & Running!” This has been “Extremely Helpful.”
You rock!!! Thank you soooo much for taking the time to make this article. I followed it to a T (including taking pictures of the insides before I unscrewed the piece holding the wires. I just wish I took a photo of the placement of the notches on the base, as putting it back together took a few tries to get it placed in the right direction. My standoff was broken, too, but I used Gorilla Glue, let it dry for a day, and was able to screw the piece back into it. So excited it’s working again!!
Thank you so much for this! After a little finangling I managed to get mine working again. I had to switch two of the white tab-things. Luckily the wires were JUST long enough to reach without cutting and re-wiring anything. To think a tiny broken plastic piece, the size of a hama bead, kan completely break down an otherwise well working gadget.
I was gonna buy a new one, but I’m Gonna try this with mine. It’s about the principle! I bought my NutriBullet years ago when they were expensive because of “durability” and the brand. And as a result, it should last for years and the ability to have it fixed like Nespresso Machines. And because of that principle, I’m Going to buy the tools I need to fix it.
Great article. Thank you. I had the same issue and I found that 2 of the screw sockets were broken on both sides with contacts. I tried sticking them back on, but super glue and glue gun didn’t work. I fixt it with putting bigger screws, screwd straight in the bottom of the base. For now it works, I don’t know how long it will last though 😊
Thanks for this! I had the same problem where I had a broken standoff on one of the switches. I ended up replacing the machine screw with a wood screw of the same gauge but longer so that it had enough length to screw into the plastic still left that the standoff broke off from. The only screw I had was too long though, so I used a stack of tiny steel washers I had on hand to decrease the penetration of the screw. I also used one washer to replace where the standoff had been so that the switch could remain at the same level it had previously been and not get sucked down at an angle when I tightened the screw. Thanks again for showing me how to do this.
I had the same issue with the switch mount cracked. I tried super glue but once engaged the downward pressure popped it right back off. I finally fixed it by zip tying the switch closed and zip tying it down. Now the switch is always engaged and only needs the other one to engage during normal operation. I’m back on the grind. 😁
Thank you brother. You really helped me on this one. I liked and subscribed . I did However just pushed down hard on the white switch after I turned it over and down a little over the sink and added a few drops of rubbing alcohol on the white switch to get it to move . Thanks you so much . Lord bless you.
I always keep a can of electronics contact cleaner in the garage and if it gets stuck? I tip the nutribullet upside down and flush each switch. 3 microswitches which if you flush clean. Perfect. Easier. Please if you use warm water and soap. Soap oxidizes the switch over time. Use soda bicarbonate to neutralize the soap. Electronics contact cleaner is under 10 AUD.
Could be my problem but sadly I could never undertake a project like this myself. I am not mechanically inclined and this requires essentially taking most of the unit apart and then knowing how to put it back together after the cleaning. Awesome article for those with fix-it mechanical minds but not for me.
Well that’s gonna be more work than I was thinking about today, but I am going to do this. Because it’s not working right and I might as well give it a shot. It’s either that or the trash bin right off the bat. At least if I can’t get it to work, I can take it apart for a recycling purposes. Thank you.
My clear plastic standoff that holds the actuator in place was broken. I tried epixying it, but it did not hold. And then it broke in a different place. I could not find the plastic standoff piece that was broken on my actuator when I searched on eBay. I called nutribullet and they sent me a new motor along with the housing for 49.95. They also sent a new blade for free. I saved the one plastic piece on the actuator that was not broken on my old Nutribullet. Now I try to be gentler when depressing the cup. But if that plastic piece breaks again I have my old one.
