The author has been familiar with the name Aleister Crowley since childhood, but has always pronouncing it to rhyme with “owly”. This is why the author pronounced Crowley’s name correctly when reading Good Omens. Crowley is from Crawly, a pun of him being originally a serpent. Several characters in the show pronounce Aziraphale’s name correctly, but Crowley is the only person to do so.
The author also noticed that Crowley is the only person to pronounce Aziraphale’s name correctly, while everyone else seems to say Azira-fell. Crowley’s pronunciation is much the same as Aziraphale’s, and neither actor shows traces of their ancestry.
The main demonic character in Good Omens is Anthony Crowley, who is a friend of Aziraphale’s. Crowley always wears sunglasses, even when inside, due to his snake-like appearance. The minisode “A Companion to Owls” shows how Aziraphale’s curiosity and questioning of God’s will were influenced by his first encounter with Crowley.
In the minisode “Nazi Zombie”, it is suggested that Crowley should be pronounced “Cr-ow-ley” instead of “Cr-or-ley”, as it seems an obvious nod to the famous occultist Aleister Crowley.
Over 200 pages into Good Omens, the author will need to adjust how they read Crowley’s pronunciation, as it is not evidently the same as the original name.

Watching this makes me notice that, for all but three times, when Crowley actually says Aziraphale’s name it’s because there’s some form of emotion attached to whatever is happening. I always thought Crowley calling Aziraphale “Angel” was because he’s making a slight jab at Aziraphale being an angel. Now I see it’s a lot more like a nickname.
