The Report from Iron Mountain is a 1967 anti-war satire written by Leonard C. Lewin, which summarizes the results of a two-and-a-half-year study and recommends maintaining a state of permanent war. The book was republished in fifteen languages and was a response to the growing distrust of the federal government during the Vietnam War and race riots in major U.S. cities. In 1967, the war in Vietnam escalated, and race riots broke out in many major U.S. cities. Iron Mountain, where the government has stored flight 93 evidence from 9/11, was a site where the report was released to the public.
In the late 1980s, the militia movement rediscovered “Report from Iron Mountain” and began citing it as evidence of a government conspiracy. Iron Mountain’s main archive facility, “The Underground”, lies 220 feet below ground in a massive, naturally protected former limestone mine. The book, “Report From Iron Mountain on the Possibility and Desirability of Peace”, concludes that lasting peace disarmament and the possibility of peace are possible.
The book explores the surprising origins and hidden ramifications of an epic late 1960s hoax, which was tipped off by an anonymous source named “nobody”. Simon and Schuster Inc. and its literary police are engaged in the Internet to investigate the hoax and its implications for the future of peace. The book has some currency among conspiracy researchers and continues to be a source of information for conspiracy researchers.

I am familiar with Herman Kahn, but this Report From Iron Mountain is news to me. If there is one conclusion Kahn (and perhaps the satire’s author Leonard Lewin) seem to be saying, it is that if we believe war is the only way to power prosperity and employment, that belief will be a self-fulfilling prophecy. We will neglect our duty to innovate at non-military planning.
The answer is the Report from Iron Mountain is correct and true, however terrible you may claim and observe it to be. Stress is necessary on all levels of life and without it, life would not continue. I challenge anyone to find that a stress free life of any living creature where free and easy was ultimately not destructive. Observe society today and the destructive nature of welfare as an example. Even protozoa live stressfull waring lives. Conflict forces progress and adaptive change. I hate that it is so, yet it is life.
I lived in a small fishing village on the west coast of Scotland which was the only land route to an RAF air base called Macrahanish just outside the town of Campbeltown. The town was the last stop at the end of a pernicula, west coast Scotland. The base had been open for many many years and slowly but surely it had started to become less and less occupied, with more and more of the personnel being cut and also living quarters becoming uninhabited. I knew many people, had many friends who over the years had lived and worked on the base both military and civilian. I knew the history of this base, there was both land, sea and obvs sky activity. It was an active base for many years. There had always been rumours of massive underground base and many many stories (from secret under water tunnel systems reaching 100 miles to little green men experimenting on Ur brain depending very much on what local you happened to bump into in the local pubs!) that came from this belief. However it was well known that slowly but surely it was becoming obsolete with it eventually going to close. Less and less people coming and going and more desolate with each passing season. Fewer and fewer strangers seen in the town and villages. In fact the slow decline of the base had a massive impact on the local economy. In the 24 hours after 9/11 all that changed. To cut a long story short about 24 hours after the attack on twin towers I awoke to the army taking over the roads through our village. For the next 6 days we were unable to travel outwith our village and considering we had one main harbour road and a few side streets it was like we were held prisoner.
For those wondering about Area51, this is pretty much what it looks like down there. We did some construction many years ago. The surface is just an airport. There are about 8 levels that go into the rock. There are check points, first level is like a city. There’s McDonalds, Wholesales etc, it’s a city. Military personnel live there and live actively as if they would in any other city. There is a large bulkhead in the lake basin, that’s where their experimental aircraft are lifted via an elevator. 2nd level is living quarters. 3rd level is underground railroads. 4th level is workshops and hangars. I’m not too sure, but below more still is supposed to be a nuclear power facility that generates energy strictly only for this city, nowhere else on the grid.
I had a dream last year around this time just before I had a coma in the summer, and even after my coma, I remember that dream to exact detail. Looking at this underground footage, this is what it was like they have people that are underground that will never see the surface again, and when the women get pregnant, they take the babies and raise them underground. There are people that work the elevators and work the underground that are there so long for so many years their skin almost looks Gray. Some people that were kidnapped start to forget that they even lived on the surface, and there are some people that live down there that never knew what the world was like because all they know is the underground. There are hundreds of thousands of people underground being kept as slaves. If people think that slavery on the plantation back in the day was so horrible, try being stuck underground and never being able to escape or see the sun. This is completely real, and I know it.
I worked there for three years. My work allowed me to cover the complete complex. A lot of walking. You stay busy and after awhile you forget you’re in the mountain. I was lucky because I Stayed busy and didn’t have the jobs where some are bored a lot of the time. It is very impressive and complex. This was years ago. One good thing about the Air Force. The ladies look great in there uniforms!
I’m aware it’s not the only one of its kind, so it makes all the rumours that have been circling the last several years (about some secret govt/defence project of underground facilities, and/or tunnelling to connect several complexes, maybe even nation-wide) seem extremely plausible imho. Countless reports of inexplainable loud “bangs/booming noises” that couldn’t be contributed to anything weather or earthquake-related (making peoples’ house tremble), countless (up and well-running!) super-store buildings suddenly getting sold/closed and vacated, only to have all kinds of builders’ activity going on inside, and nothing to show for it during the whole period on the outside…🤔
I’ve been in there several times when it was housing NORAD working on their weather satellite systems. In fact had devices I supported in the same room as the red phone. With top secret clearance it still took me hours to get cleared at the gate, even with a chaperone everywhere I went, yes including the bathroom. The facility was created in response to the cold war, with it’s ‘venturi’ design. a blast from a nuke would blow through main website while those massive doors would slam shut in seconds. Never experienced security like this, made me feel safe when I left each time.
I don’t remember a gym or basketball court or a little store when I was there in 1979-1983. I do remember that walking in from the parking lot was unpleasant because of the car fumes that the few gas powered vehicles emitted that were allowed in. Our exercise was running down and up the mountain road, which was pretty steep. It was quite a place. I worked here (for NORAD/ADC then Adcom then Spacecom) and lived at Peterson AFB.
And on that awful day of the lord all the kings, kingsman and other manner of worldly rulers went underground to their safe hiding and as the wrath of the lamb was unfolding they all yelled out to God, ” please bring the mountain crashing down on top of us and hide or face from the wrath for who could stand against him. Oddly their bunkers are called D.U.M.B.S
There’s too many rumors and too much talk around a day that should never happen. Instead of hoping it never happens, how about making sure it doesn’t happen. We’re all in the same boat people, think reasonably. There’s no reason to destroy everyone’s life. Only ones who would be responsible are those who planned to be in those underground facilities, right? Why should we all suffer for a few “higher ups” actions.

Question So i live in colorado 10 years and know where this is at. when there a Fast moving wildfire on the mountain behind, etc like the Hayment fire which became a state/federal fire which means anyone caight fighting it would be arrested that was not a fire fighter, etc as in the public. What happens to keep the area safe if a wildfire should take place in that area on the mountain
Cheyenne Mountains excavation was well documented during construction. I have seen numerous black and white pictures of it over the years. My father who is now deceased worked there for a total of about 8 years over 2 tours of duty in the mountain. He showed me pictures of the big blast doors that look like a bank vault and the 3 story buildings on springs. These photos were officially released through the Air Force public relations department so I no their was no national security risk in what was shown. My father passed away do to ALS which is also known as Lue Gehrig’s disease at the age of 76. I suspect the radon levels in the mountain were not dealt with back when the facility was constructed and his exposure over 10 years may have contributed to his ALS, He was also exposed to agent orange while in Thailand during the Vietnam war which may have also been an environmental factor that contributed. Research on environmental factors are currently inconclusive from what I can see.

This site was constructed at a time when the primary threat was a Soviet bomber carrying a relatively low-yield fission weapon. It is unlikely to survive a strike from an ICBM carrying a multi-megaton fusion weapon. This is why the Air Force transitioned to airborne command posts at the height of the Cold War.
Spent 4 wonderful years in Colorado Springs with the Army. Loved it. Still have friends who have become family there. Fort Carson is at the base of the the mountain and in the 80’s NORAD was inside. We all knew that if the balloon went up, we were done. Oh well that’s what you kinda sign up for I guess 🤣

I know some detractors are upset that they have the occasional mishap, like an alien invasion or opening a black hole in the mountain, but you can’t make an omelet without breaking some eggs!
The Cheyenne Mountain Complex is no longer used as NORAD and was relocated to Schriever AFB west of Colorado Springs. When constructed in the early 60’s it’s location was based upon the harden strength of granite and Cheyenne Mountain’s internal springs for water supply. The 60’s idea was to survive an indirect hit from an incoming Soviet ICBM. But 70’s intelligence later revealed Soviet missile guidance systems were accurate enough to destroy the mountains intern command. Therefore the primary Schriever AFB was constructed and linked to NORAD to operate as a backup.
That’s important for the survivability of the US military and the continued continuity of the U. S. government along with their associated tunnels and bunkers. However, unlike reports about China and Russia both having tremendous bunkers for civilians…. Where are our civilian bunkers to allow us to Hopefully survive? Do they exist? Where are they? Anybody?
On that worst day. Like 911 where was norrad? How quickly we forget. For those that don’t know norad who is responsible for intercepting rogue aircraft or missiles in USA was where on 911? Part of their strategy is deployment of f16 or jets to intercept and talk to aircraft off course etc or in restricted air space. I can only guess the few families of victims in 911 that didn’t accept the millions the government offered understand this and other truth of that day. Im just guessing. Sorry just heard nomad and it reminded me the only other time I’ve heard that was when I learned they were offline on 911 because the government was doing a simulation attack on the twin towers so they were told not to respond by one of the two ppl with authority to do that.
