The Serana Spell Selector is a mod that removes Necromancy spells and remaps other Leveld spells, making it compatible with all saves. It does not clash with Serana Dialogue Edit and works without any issues. However, any possible appearance overhauls for Serana may need to be patched.
The mod also addresses the issue of Serana’s Necromancy spells, similar to the original Serana. To remove a spell from an NPC, one can use the SDA spell toggle with patch or Serana Spell Selector. Serana will use her level-appropriate Vampiric Drain spell if she is a vampire, and learn Ice Spike (1+) and Lightning Bolt (28-47).
Additionally, the mod aims to remove the annoying resurrect spell from Serana, which is a blue spell. To edit the mod, one must remove the spell entries from her Non-Player Actor record in the CK or TES5Edit from the last mod.
However, no solution has been found for removing spells from Serana using AFT or Nether. The console command “removespell” does not work with every possible raise dead type spell. Instead, one could set up a daily script function to manually remove spells manually.
Serana is immortal, great at magic, and on your side, making her one of the best followers. However, there is a possibility that the mod may not work with AFT, as it won’t allow you to delete a follower’s default spells.

FAQ==================================== Original art made by @Ratopombo on twitter I just created the animation …
This article reminded me that I may have tried this once and it didn’t work. For those saying use things like the ritual stone or such her corpse resisted the reanimation effect. It wasn’t because of level. The only way to bring her to life would probably be the resurrect console command and if that isn’t an option then she was NEVER intended to be alive under ANY circumstance.
“Whelp, I tried.” “Yeah, like…..so, what was your end goal here? Even if you think, somehow, it would get you laid, like…..even if bringing me back did get you laid, how? Literally every bone in my body is broken, all blood vessels busted, medicine in this world sucks, I would have been in massive amounts of pain, I’d probably die, again, from the mere shock of being in such a state, and if you somehow in that warped mind of your thought bestowing me life again would get you laid, my body is so limp, it’s practically useless, so I have to ask, what was your fucking end goal here?”
Hm they probably should’ve forseen a possibility of a player using necromancy on her body. I can imagine she’d probably be somewhat offended by it and have a line to reflect it. Either that, or have her turn into a secret companion if you use Dead Thrall instead, allowing her to possess her body back and stay as a unique undead follower. Maybe even add a unique mechanic for her so that if her body perishes, she spawns next to it as a ghost and continues until her body is reanimated.
Lore accurate? Can’t reanimate her corpse because it needs the spirit of the person and the corpse to resurrect, and since her spirit is separated from her body it means you can’t bend her spirit to your will. It’s why the dunmer hate necromancy because it harms the spirit that is brought back, and it’s why they don’t mind being reanimated or summoned by their family members because they willingly suffer in order to help their descendants.
It would’ve been quiet hilarious if she was like. “Nice try, but I knew a bit of conjuration myself!” Or “You’re not strong enough to bind me, and why would you? Let’s get moving.” Or even. “Try that again, and I am going to do my utmost to possess you.” then if you do it again, she possesses you and it makes you create a new character.
Sorry but… what quest is this ? Oo’ I have my Skyrim since… … 15 fucking years and I NEVER saw that ghost… Can’t say I did everything, though… Dwemer places bore me… I did the one from the main quest to have the Elder Scroll and the one where Mjoll lost her sword but that’s it. I hate these places. Is that quest in a Dwemer dungeon ? Tell me : am I an idiot ? 😅
Been playing Witcher again and it made me once again realise just how shit Skyrim is. If this was a Witcher game there would be 100% something done with this. Although that being said if it was a Witcher game u wouldn’t use necromancy. But what I’m saying is bethesda are actually wank. Ok rants over sorry.
