Is It Possible To End Suspended Spells?

Jhoira of the Ghitu allows players to kick a card suspended when it goes off, but they cannot interact with a player suspending a spell. However, they can counter the triggered ability that lets them cast the suspended spell with cards like ((Tale’s End)) or ((Overcharged). A suspended card is “cast” when the last time counter is removed, not when the card is suspended. Countering a suspended card on the turn it goes off is possible, but not on the turn it leaves its stack.

A card is only suspended if it is in the exile zone with at least one time counter on it. Being in the command zone, it is not suspended and its ability to remove a counter will be used. When casting a spell with suspend, players can pay its suspend cost and put it in the exile zone. With Dinosaurs on a Spaceship, they can suspend the spell for five mana, causing it to go into exile with three time counters.

Opponents cannot counter the suspension of a card unless they Stifle Jhoira’s ability. They can counter the spell when you cast it some turns later. Suspend was first introduced in Time Spiral and allows cards with suspend to be exiled, face up, for its suspend cost, with X time counters on them. Suspended cards are face up and can be examined by any player, as can all cards removed from the game, unless a card specifies otherwise.

Exiling a card with a suspend ability does not cast the card, as it is not a cast ability and cannot be responded to or go on the stack.

Can you destroy a suspended card in MTG?

Cards that have been suspended are considered to be in exile and, as a result, cannot be targeted without the application of a specific mechanic. These mechanics typically pertain to the sideboard or cards that have been exiled by the same spell. To remove suspended (time) counters, specific cards can facilitate advancement of one turn in the casting of those cards. Clockspinning is a technique that enables the player to retrieve a suspended card, thereby gaining an advantage by acquiring it two turns in advance.

Can you cast overload from suspend?

Once the card is no longer in a suspended state, it can be cast at no additional cost. However, it is unable to pay for other alternate costs, such as Overload. Mizzium Mortars are not subject to suspension. Sikening inquired about the regulations governing an EDH campaign centered around Jhoira of the Ghitu, particularly with regard to whether the card is considered to have been cast when it is played from one’s hand for two points or when it is deployed from the suspension zone.

Can you exile a suspended card?

A card with the suspend ability can be exiled without the expenditure of mana or the presence of a target, even in the absence of any legal targets. Furthermore, these cards are exiled in a face-up state.

Can you not cast a suspend card?

In the event that a card is not cast, it will remain in an exiled state, devoid of any time counters, and will no longer be suspended. The act of casting a card without paying its mana cost, such as suspending it, does not allow for the selection of alternative costs.

Can suspend be proliferated?

Proliferate can only choose Permanents or Players, and a Card in Exile cannot be chosen. Time counters on a Suspended Card cannot be proliferated. Can I counter a copied spell?

A growing number of cards can copy permanent spells, which become tokens once they resolve. However, these copies are still spells until they leave the stack, which can be countered, re-copied, or targeted like other spells on the stack. Two spells have a specific clause stating “This spell can’t be copied”, while Display of Power and See Double can copy multiple spells at a time to avoid an infinite loop.

A copy of a spell is similar to an ability, not represented by a physical marker, and players remember it on the stack until it resolves or leaves the stack. This logic was modified in Zendikar Rising to allow permanent spell copies to function.

Can you kick a copied spell?

Kicker is a keyword ability that allows players to pay an optional cost when casting a spell to achieve an additional effect. It was introduced during the Invasion block, where the five-colored Coalition Symbol was buried in the art of most cards with the kicker ability. Off-colored kicker costs were immediately implemented, and with Planeshift nonmana kickers and multiple kicker abilities were added.

One design choice that is no longer in use is granting abilities to creatures through kicker, as using +1/+1 counters as a marker is less reliable with New World Order and more +1/+1 counters. Colorless kicker costs were considered “magnifiers”, increasing the spell’s effect numerically, while colored kicker costs added a different effect, necessitating a denser color cost.

Can you counter a suspend spell?

The phrase “if you could cast this card from your hand” checks for timing restrictions and permissions, including the card’s type and other abilities. If a card is impossible to cast due to a lack of legal targets or an unpayable mana cost, it may still be exiled with suspend. Exiling a card with its suspend ability is not casting that card and does not use the stack and cannot be responded to.

If a spell with suspend has targets, the targets are chosen when the spell is cast, not when it’s exiled. If the first triggered ability of suspend is countered, no time counter is removed, and the ability will trigger again during its owner’s next upkeep. When the last time counter is removed from a suspended card, the second triggered ability of suspend will trigger, regardless of why the time counter was removed or whose effect removed it.

If the second triggered ability of suspend is countered, the card can’t be cast and remains in the exile zone without any time counters on it for the rest of the game. If the second triggered ability of suspend resolves and the suspended card can’t be cast due to a lack of legal targets or a cast restriction, it remains in the exiled zone without any time counters on it for the rest of the game.

If the second triggered ability of suspend resolves and the suspended card can’t be cast due to a lack of legal targets or a cast restriction, it remains in the exiled zone without any time counters on it for the rest of the game. If the additional cost includes mana, the player must pay that cost if able. If the player can’t possibly pay the cost, the card remains exiled.

A creature cast via suspend enters the battlefield with haste after the first turn as long as the same player controls it. As soon as another player takes control of it, it loses haste.

Examples of cards interacting with suspend include The Face of Boe, Modern Horizons 2, Modern Mailbag, and Murders at Karlov Manor.

Can you kick a spell multiple times?

The cost of a kicker does not affect the mana cost or the converted mana cost of a spell. Such payments can only be made on a single occasion, unless the card in question features a “multikicker” feature, in which case the payment may be repeated. In some cases, spells possess supplementary effects when they are “kicked.”

Can you cascade a suspend card?

The Cascade mechanic enables players to cast a card with suspend without paying the associated mana costs, such as Violent Outburst.

What happens if you copy a suspend spell?

What happens if you copy a suspend spell?

A spell’s copy ceases to exist in a zone other than the stack or the battlefield, while a card’s copy ceases to exist in any zone other than the stack or the battlefield. These actions are state-based and suspend cards are not spells on the stack. The stack can be seen when a spell is pulled from the stack, and if the trigger resolves, the ability can be copied. If Twincast is used, it can retain priority and be placed on the stack. However, cards that care about whether a spell is cast may trigger.

  • Gotta love all the comments from the karate and TKD guys who have never once used this kick in a fight saying “I learned that when I was a white belt!” or “we break boards with that kick all the time!” When there are literally only a couple of examples of this kick being used at a high level of competition, saying “nobody uses it”, it a fair hyperbolic statement. It’s one thing being shown a move in a karate class, and a radically different thing to develop the fine motor control and presence of mind to do it under pressure. Majid (sp) has some good advice here for developing that kind of control. By the way, You might want to look into a face tracking camera gimble for the times when you don’t have anyone to hold the camera. There are some cheap ones out there that do a decent job.

  • I studied a lot that kick.. is really powerful on the bag, but in a real fight is really hard to connect with the face of the opponent when his arms are high, but is a very good kick if you want to kick the final parts of the rib cage or the organs under them. The problem is the Limitated R.O.M of the Ankle end of the Toes and for this Reason is not good for the lateral parts of the face. Maybe the front kick is the only kick to hit the face of the opponent with the ball of foot.

  • Old school Karate kick. One massive error though… the foot thats on the ground shouldn’t be flat and at 90deg to opponent. To get better range and more power you pivot on the ball of the foot on the ground. On contact the heel should be slightly off the ground and be pointing towards your opponents (toes pointing away from opponent). The pivot will give you about 6-8inches of extra reach 🙂 making it easier to get around the guard. Also if you plant your standing leg like that you could get easily injured. If this doesnt make sense just watch any TKD article and watch the foot on the ground.

  • The reason most people don’t practice this kick is the same reason that the original Karate kick with the tips of the toes isn’t used anymore. It’s just faded out of circulation. Ignoring the fact that most MMA fighters train Muay Thai or Kickboxing which advocate contact with the Shin, even traditional schools like Karate and Taekwondo don’t practice this too much anymore. It’s much safer for both the kicker and the reciever when kicking with the instep. The modern focus on sport combat has more or less directed the skills taught in martial arts in this general direction. Furthrrmore, this kick isn’t ideal for beginners either. You need loads of practice kicking and an insight into where it is going to land. Unlike the Shin or instead kick, you need to angle out a little more when kicking with the ball of the foot to land properly. Else, you just end up landing with the toes. It’s a pretty advanced move from arts which people don’t practice for the MMA.

  • Cool!!!! I love the series. It is fun and exciting. In my view, the only observation that I have is that the harassment Daniel received in the film from Johnny and his band was credible to a certain extent. Many of us had an abuse at school, and that made many of us identify with the plot. And in this series, the action is based on situations that already slide into the most complete fantasy. Well, there are no adults, police or common sense anywhere? Someone to tell the boys. DID EVERYONE GO CRAZY OR WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR HEADS ?? !!!!! hahahahaha Of course, that would cost the series a lot of emotion. I feel that instead of the credibility that the movie conveyed, in this case they chose to make a program with real actors in cartoon format, where the protagonists are not training to know how to defend themselves but to become deadly weapons and spend their days conspiring to take revenge on the adversaries while the villain Kreese is in the style of Skeletor in his “not so secret” lair roaring malicious laughter, telling his plans equally or worse of malevolent and attracting children to the dark side jijijiji (that and tell the people who arrive already in night to see him or to claim something from him that “we are closed” always freshly bathed and in his role of “since I’m bad 24/7 I have a threatening speech that I’m going to share with the first guy who walks through the door” I think the moment some screenwriter finally listened to me telepathically was when “Missy Cooper” slaps Kreese in his dojo during one of his speeches, and then goes to the police station to report him for being a crazy bastard.

  • This is the way the conflict should be solved!! When someone tryes to bully you… don’t go down to his level. Manipulative people are waiting for your aggression. Just show them unviolently you are not going to be treated like this. Daniel could easily beat all prople inside that building. But than… he would be the bully.

  • There’s one thing I like about Daniel. He has no idea who he really is. He tries to be Miyagi, hates fighting, does gardening, tries to do defense only, but that’s not really him. Daniel clearly loves fighting (As long as it’s not attempted murder on him), he’s really good at using the Cobra Kai method, and trying to be the new Miyagi is just making him build up anger

  • Man they really wanted to make daniel as unlikable as possible in this, Like let alone the fact him and miyagi are lying cheating sacks of shit who basically forsake all fundamental tenets of martial arts, But now hes commiting felony assault While using the sloppiest lowest spinning kick you could ever imagine.

  • That kick was terrible 😂. His knee is damn near a 90 degree angle. Along with the slow spin, he has no power in his kick. Also making it dangerous on his knee. Not to mention from the other peoples perspective, he looks straight up crazy. Like a dude who just lost his temper and couldn’t control himself.

  • 😂 When I first watched this, I had to rewind that kick several times. It was so freaking bad lol. Like, in what world do you spin on the same leg you’re kicking with? I wasn’t in Karate but I was in Taekwando and I can’t think of a single reason why he did it like that AND acted like he was so cool.

  • The kick was kinda lame. Not being a hater. I love the Karate Kid movies. Only 1-3 though. Not that one from 94 and certainly not that embarrassing version with Will Smith weird Kid. And i absolutly love Cobra Kai. I get the message Daniel is delivering her. But he could’ve pulled off a more elegant kick

  • IT’S OFFICIAL🚨🚨🚨 A Fifth #KARATEKID installment, described as the return of the original franchise, is confirmed to be in development. The return of #RalphMacchio as #DanielLarusso is confirmed and the story will follow the facts already known in the original saga and in the #CobraKai series. It will be released on June 7, 2024 in theaters. 😍🎬

  • Since I was a child Ralph Machios form has made me cringe. I trained in Kenpo for six years when I was a kid and I’ve been active in sports/ training all my life. I recently stretched a Lil and started hitting the bag. My form was impeccable. Considering Ralph is the lead in a franchise that deals with martial arts its ridiculous how wimpy, scrawny, and pathetic he looks. The man looks like he’s never done a push up in his life. A martial artist is still fit and shredded at the very least due to the conditioning. Daniel Larusso would never be able to pull that wife or convince me he can fight. Thank God the franchise is focused on Johnny and Cobra Kai now.

  • And then he got slapped with an assault charge that was witnessed by several people and got arrested, had to post bail, had to pay court fees and restitution, and that ruined his relationship with the vehicle manufacturer of his dealership. He lost his contract and significant money. All because instead of turning around and walking away, he attacked a guy.
