Is There A Conspiracy Theory About Sandy Hook?

In a letter to Donald Trump, journalist Elizabeth Williamson claims that conspiracy theorists tormented the victims of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre. Alex Jones, a Texas-based conspiracy theorist, has spent years accusing family members of being actors in a hoax and suggesting their children were still alive. Jones testified that he now understands it was irresponsible for him to declare the massacre a hoax.

Members of the Newtown Board of Education hoped that newly elected President Donald Trump would speak out against a famous conspiracy theorist. A Texas judge has found Infowars host and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones liable for damages in three defamation lawsuits brought by the parents of two children killed in the Sandy Hook massacre. Many websites and conspiracists that spewed nonsense about Sandy Hook abandoned truth in service of the “Big Lie” that Mr. Trump actually won the presidential election of 2020.

The connection between lies and conspiracy theories that lead people to deny the Sandy Hook massacre and the insurrection at the Capitol on January 6 is debated. The daughter of a woman killed in the Sandy Hook mass shootings is calling on Donald Trump to stop thanking a right-wing conspiracy theorist who claims the massacre was staged. Jones has sought immunity from federal prosecutors investigating the US Capitol riot and has filed for immunity from federal prosecutors. Acknowledging that 20 children and six adults were murdered on December 14, 2012, at Sandy Hook Elementary School, condemn those who repeatedly claim it was a hoax.

  • Megyn, I’m so disappointed. As much as I’ve enjoyed perusal your reporting in the past, I could not get past the first 30 seconds of spin doctoring, and I had to shut the article off. I wish that there were objective reporting anymore without any of the carefully scripted setup phrasing and verbiage intended to evoke emotions in the viewer and plant preconceived perceptions in their head.

  • Watch ROBBIE PARKER CNN PRESS CONFERENCE (18 min) GRACE DIED IN A PLACE SHE LOVED Both of those are Sandy Hook parents. These are 1 day after the shooting and 1 day after the funeral. Im a former deputy sheriff. When I heard the claims of wrong doing, I had to look into it. You watch and decide for yourself.

  • This is not news looool this can only happen in America. This is not journalism or reporting, this is most outrageous cherry picking of a biased portrayal and strike down of an individual with his own view on world events. Most of which are true and seem founded enough. With all of the nefarious conspiracies at high levels, which has always occurred, it is little wonder why people are left wondering whether the media’s views on most major world events are infact correct. Incredible stuff, how is this even legal lol? Its libel.

  • Notice how in every article it’s always “fake conspiracy theory” or “crazy conspiracy theorist” just goes to show how hard they are trying to cover their tracks. Think about in movies when villains with power abuse the power they have to cover up their tracks and most of these shows display how manipulated the public can become.

  • There are no exceptions to freedom of speech. If the parents want to sue him they can sue him but THERE IS NO EXCEPTION TO WHAT ONE CAN SAY. and ib4 people talking about yelling fire in a crowded theater I am clearly referring to protecting ones rights to put forward ideas no matter how crazy. The government cannot decide what is ok to say and what isnt. I don’t care how crazy the person is we are all free to say and think what we please.

  • I thought it was bullshit the moment I saw the parents speaking. Then I looked into it and became certain. Gene Rosen rehearsing in his driveway on a camcorder, Robbie Parker grinning like a Cheshire Cat 2 seconds before giving a somber speech, all the family interviews with lots of “crying,” but not a single tear or red eye, and the raw CNN footage of people walking out the front of the building and circling around to enter through the back and out the front again, making it appear there was many more people there than there actually was. I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but I’m not gullible either.

  • I’m confused how it could possibly not be taking away his freedom of speech? He said something… ok? And? They have to fine for it? That doesn’t make sense, the law shouldn’t be about pity or have sides. I think this is fucking ridiculous, I really don’t care for Alex Jones but that is beyond to far. They’re acting like he fucking did it.

  • CNN, this is why after 40 years of being a democrat I switch sides. My whole family followed and trusted you for decades but now we’re paying the price for our ignorance. Let me make myself clear I’m not a huge fan of Alex Jones however after this stunt I might become one. After decades of your website telling us, “nothing to see here I’m finally realized why. I started looking at everything you tagged and labeled a conspiracy and started connecting the dots. Lets just say the vial has lifting and your’re now exposed for the world to see. You also failed to realize you’ll NEVER be able to put the genie back into it’s bottle, but like all narcissist you’ll keep trying. Just like, a corned whiled animal on it’s last leg you’ll eventfully go down. You and many other media outlets did a piece on who’d be our next President if Trump was assassinated, and you did it on the day of his trumps inauguration, yet your’re still here. You also got caught cheating during the election by giving Hillary the answers yet you didn’t get band. You can no longer hide your true bias colors CNN and that is why you favor going after the innocent. Applauding the band of free speech shows how sad, despite you truly are. The media is partly responsible for # Walkaway, It’s like you lost all sense of reality. I feel like you’re purposely trying to divide us but the more you try the closer we become. You see, hate will always fail in the end. The brainwashed are waking up, Pandora’s box has been opened. The dying, lying media already committed suicide for Hillary, it’s been down hill for you guys ever sense.

  • As a father of 3, it’s so obvious to see what a facade this shooting was. Not one of those parents went through any pain. Not the kind losing a child in such a manner would display. Pay someone enough money and I guess they’ll do anything. Work at CNN promoting fiction and telling me how I should think or parent an imaginary dead child…its greed and it’s dishonourable. It’s un natural behaviour. It’s so wrong.

  • I watched a news program at the time of grieving parents speaking to camera one “father” was laughing and joking with others then composed himself and took on a sad face (unfortunately the camera was rolling and caught him laughing and joking ) this man (or his twin brother) perhaps a doppelganger is now living and working in the UK as the comedian Stewart Francis. Strange very strange

  • Well of course they want to shut him down. And make an example of him so people with any sort of following won’t talk about things like this. Weather it’s true or not the reality is people have the right to question things and use their own critical thinking. I have no idea if it was real or fake but what I do know is that you can’t just take everything at face value. And I’ve been learning that lesson for many years as I’m sure many others are.

  • i’m just thinking off the top of my head here: – Virginia Tech shooting -> no cameras capturing the event – Dark Knight Colorado shooting -> no cameras capturing the event – Sandy Hook shooting -> no cameras capturing the event – Las Vegas 2017 concert shooting -> no cameras capturing the event all of the technology and camera equipment you could ever dream of were present in all 4 of these instances, of which there have been many more that don’t easily come to mind simply because of how many instances like this took place in the last few years. and yet somehow, footage from columbine is as clear as day and readily accessible. 1999 must have been an incredible year for recording equipment, i wonder what happened.

  • Alex is just expressing his personal OPINIONS based on his PERCEPTIONS of the incident. He can think whatever things he wants. And he can SAY it however he wants in the same manner as Americans who make fun of their own President on social media and in the public. Since we love and are addicted to “free speech”, “freedom”, “civil rights” and “American Democracy” nonsense, THIS is the type of situation we’ll have to be prepared to see and endure. Since we Americans love such shit…we need to accept whatever shit or truth propagated by any numbnut American What you dont believe in…is not necesarily hog wash. Our own govts had been fucking with us since our grandparents days.

  • While I still think what Alex Jones did was absolutely wrong, I have to disagree with this report. I’m open to constructive ideas and conversations on anything as long as it’s handled well, that we don’t become literal stalkers and lunatics like Wolfgang Halbig, and that we don’t try to push our beliefs so far that we start harassing victims of a tragic event like too many people have already done. However, even if this still counts as freedom of speech, that still doesn’t excuse the fact that he still exploited a tragic event for personal glory.

  • Everything is free speech. If it’s libel, then they should be able to be brought to trial, but regardless you should be able to say the “N” word, openly detest government, slander disenfranchised people, whatever you want to until you have a day in court from someone who disagrees. Cancel culture is for people who will never be able to survive a doomsday scenario (loss of power grid, world war, global famine, civil war, etc etc) The people that want “safe spaces” will become familiar with Darwinism when shit hits the fan.

  • The allowance of falsity provides the matrix to measure truth from. To say only the correct thing isn’t freedom of speech. Journalists used to operate by this understanding. If we cannot change what our government believes to be true using speech, what of freedom? Shall we ball up what we used to understand as freedom into the wastebasket, or once again pay the price to regain them? The advertisement of manufactured ideas has replaced the informed consent journalism used to provide.

  • Oh by the way a handicapped veteran that would sit in the parking lot of that very school empty no classes no students no bus and eat his lunch every day to call dad better than a liar he was railroaded he was kicked out of his home town his home state for speaking the truth I don’t know his name article was scrubbed but I know that he lives in Battle Creek Michigan now I trust a veteran over our government any day

  • Please someone correct me if I am wrong but I thought defamation could only occur when you can prove it leads to loss of income due to the character attacks placed upon your persons? Eg if someone calls you a rapist/murderer/thief but your employer doesn’t fire you and future employers don’t take this accusation into consideration then it is not defamation. I am open to evidence to the contrary

  • the amount of dislike lol… he edmite to be wrong i think he is wrong many times but questaning is ok it’s seems to improve morality at some level and might make people with bad intention think twice before having bad ideas that in some cases government did toke responsibility. (i’m not american or english native speaker so apologize if i’m not clear)

  • No, it is not part of the first amendment. The first amendment is meant to be taken as a whole. The first part is that no laws will be made based on religious beliefs but people can practice religion outside of government. The rest of the amendment is about how people can complain about the government and laws that they don’t like. People can complain about the laws and government officials who made the laws. They can do so as a group. Journalists can print wrongdoing by government. People can petition the government to change laws too. No such freedom exists in many other countries like China, Russia, the Middle Eastern countries, etc. When the first amendment was written anyone who spoke against the king was arrested, tortured, and publicly executed for treason. Our government is of the people, by the people, and for the people. That’s why we have the first amendment. It’s not a free for all for lies, collusion, conspiracy, incitement, defamation, libel, etc. My comment is neither protected nor denied by the first amendment, because it has nothing to do with complaints about laws.

  • Is he saying it didn’t happen or is he saying that it was, in some way, government directed? He has the right to assert his own beliefs or theories, if not then what about all the 9/11 conspiracy theories? The same law covers both surely? I get what he is saying could be hurtful to the people involved but that’s distasteful not illegal.🤔
