Magic Bounce is a rare ability introduced in Generation VII that reflects stat-reducing moves, status moves, and other non-direct damaging type attacks back at the attacking Pokémon. It reflects the effect of all stat-lowering moves, non-damaging status condition-inducing moves, entry hazards, and moves like Taunt and Torment back at the user. Magic Bounce affects various moves such as Attract, Baby-Doll Eyes, Block, Captivate, Charm, Confide, Confuse Ray, Cotton Spore, Dark Void, and Defog.
The ability can reflect Z-Moves (but not their Z-Power effects) and moves used via Dancer or Instruct. It also reflects status moves like Toxic, Will O Wisp, Whirlwind, and Roar. However, it does not affect self-affecting moves like Swords Dance, weather/terrain moves, or tricks.
In-Depth Effect: Magic Bounce reflects non-attacking moves used on the Pokémon back to the attacking Pokémon. A good list of Status Moves that are not affected by Magic Bounce includes Swords Dance, weather/terrain moves, Trick, Spikes, Stealth Rock, Sticky Web, and Toxic Spikes.
Spikes, Stealth Rock, Sticky Web, and Toxic Spikes can only be reflected once per side, by the leftmost Pokemon under this or Magic Coat’s effect. However, moves like sand attack, stealth rocks, and thunderwave will get reflected back to the user with no harm coming to the opponent.
