Mystik Dan, a Kentucky Derby winner, is set to enter the Belmont Stakes at Saratoga on June 8. After a strong workout, Mystik Dan was all but confirmed for the race. He was one of eight workers who may start next Saturday. If Mystik Dan is unable to run, McPeek may enter Thorpedo Anna, the filly who won the Kentucky Oaks.
Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Mystik Dan has been entered for the June 8 Belmont Stakes (G1) at Saratoga Race Course by trainer Kenny McPeek following his June 1 workout. Trainer D. Wayne Lukas said Seize the Grey was doing well after winning Saturday’s Preakness at Pimlico and likely would race in the Belmont Stakes. Demling has also locked in his 2024 Belmont Stakes picks for Mystik Dan, who won the Kentucky Derby by a nose in an epic finish.
If Mystik Dan is not Belmont-bound, McPeek intends to run Kentucky Oaks-winning filly Thorpedo Anna against the colts. Only 24 fillies have run in the Belmont, and three have. Mystik Dan may not have been fully prepared for the Preakness Stakes, as he was coming off a big win at the Kentucky Derby. He has banked more than $4.1 million in purse earnings through an 8-3-2-1 record.
Mystik Dan, who has banked more than $4.1 million in purse earnings through an 8-3-2-1 record, is expected to enter Saturday’s Belmont 2024 at Saratoga with confidence after his most recent performances.

📹 INCREDIBLE finish as Mystik Dan wins the 150th Kentucky Derby
Mystik Dan holds off Sierra Leone and Forever Young in the 150th Kentucky Derby to land Brian Hernandez and Kenneth McPeek …
Dornoch finally got a chance to run his race, congratulations to all of his connections. yes, Dornoch, you are as good as your brother. Sierra Leone really had no excuse. They have to find out out why he keeps coming in. Seize the Grey ran his heart out. Mindframe ran a gallant race, not enough experience . And thankfully, they all finished the race.
Mage won the Kentucky Derby and his full brother Dornoch followed up with a win here in the Belmont. Hats off to to each horse’s connections and to Good Magic and Puca for bringing us these fine thoroughbreds. They now have ANOTHER full brother and they are calling him “Preaky” which is short for Preakness. I hope Preaky wins the Triple Crown.
Who was the idiot who called Dornach a filly in the Belmont…at least know your field. I am thrilled for the dam of Dornach; Puca. Broodmare of the Year, Please! We need Randy Moss and Jerry Bailey and knowledge about pedigrees and horses and some stories.I remember Brent Musberger and Rags to Riches defeating the mighty Curlin! Goosebumps! Fox tanks…
Dornoch, with 17-1 odds, won the 156th running of the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, beating a handful of contenders widely believed to have a greater chance of winning. “It was perfect,” jockey Luis Saez (age 32, born in Panama) said of Dornoch’s run to fend off Mindframe (7-2 odds). Trainer Danny Gargan got his first victory in a Triple Crown race. This year’s Belmont Stakes was raced at Saratoga and run at 1.25 miles instead of the traditional 1.5 miles because of renovations at Belmont Racetrack. That should be notable for handicapping since typically for the Belmont it’s important to look at horses that can go the distance.
I salute Dornoch and Luis Saez. Very well done but Seize the Grey is still my favorite. Not going to find excuses. This is horse racing. I will say that the mile went in 1:35 with STG in front. Got a bit tired but still never quit. He won on Derby Day and the Preakness. Very well done and overall I think the best 5 week performance of any horse! Grade 2 on Derby Day, Grade 1 Preakness and a great effort on Belmont Day. Congrats to winner but Seize the Grey has more to say about 2024. God bless D Wayne Lucas. More happy for him than anything. He deserves the success and look forward to Caldera in 2025
Wow! Dornoch has answered every question! No one gave him a chance. None of the nationally prominent handicappers picked Dornoch to win. If he was mentioned at all it was to dismiss his chances. After closely perusal the derby it was apparent he had run but a poor start and a worse trip gave him no chance to show it. I’m happy for Luis Saez and Danny Gargan who both knew what they had. Good Magic stock going up!
Jayson Werth has gone from champion on the diamond to champion on the racetrack. The 15-year big leaguer retired in 2018 The racehorse that Werth co-owns, Dornoch, won the Belmont Stakes, the final leg of horse racing’s Triple Crown, on Saturday at Saratoga Race Course. Dornoch put Werth into the winner’s circle 16 years after he was a part of the Phillies’ 2008 World Series title team. The race was moved to Saratoga Springs, N.Y., this year because Belmont Park is undergoing a renovation project. Dornoch finished 10th in the Derby
Mystic Dan was obviously not up for this race, can’t believe he was even entered. It makes no sense to put a horse through this much wear and tear if there’s not something like the Triple Crown on the line. Thought McPeek and his owners would have more sense than that…kinda just seems greedy and not prioritizing what’s best for the horse, imho🤔
I just LOVE (not) how the humans take all the credit for winning these races. Everyone from the Owner to the Trainer to the Jockey—-THEY all “won”. Not the HORSE—–the upstaging humans. Of course, if it were solely up to the horses, this entire sport wouldn’t exist. They’d be content with being horses.
It almost seems like near the end when it was obvious mindframe was going to win. His jockey pulls him starts, hitting him from the left with the switch to go out out than any other horse directing him away from the inner center of the track where he was right next to Doc like he was without a doubt I have no question he would’ve won that raceframe look like he was confused and I don’t understand why the jockey was hitting him from the left side because that’s when mindframe started running out towards the right of the track instead of the left of the track
I think this is all fixed. I’m sorry, but if you look at the end, clearly mine frame jockey is hitting him from the left side and which he starts to go further out if he was closer to the fence as all the horses usually know to run that would’ve been less steps, but instead, he has him out running away from the inner fence to outer track near the end and then he pulls him last minute towards him. No doubt mindframe would’ve won that was clearly intentional, I looked over it over and over again and it was obvious. I’m never betting on horses again. This is totally a scam.
I think i just give up on betting on races. Did anyone.. even 1 person have Dornoch on any of their tickets? Horse racing is getting ridiculous to bet on. What exactly is the strategy? Draw names out of a hat and say your prayers that it wins? It doesn’t even matter what the odds are anymore. Its just random horse after random horse year after year. Not even fun anymore. Basically zero chance to make any money whatsoever
”And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish. As the nations which the LORD destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the LORD your God. (Deuteronomy 8:19-20) ”Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? (Jeremiah 23:29) ”I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes. (Hosea 13:14) ”Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. (Psalm 34:19) ”For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. (Romans 8:20-21) ”And now I have told your before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe. (John 14:29)
