Neptune, the second outer planet in Vedic astrology, is associated with spirituality, deception, and fame. It constantly changes forms and serves as a manifestation of Maya or illusion. In Vedic astrology, Neptune does not have a direct counterpart and is primarily associated with Western astrology. The system primarily relies on the positions of seven traditional planets (Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, etc.).
Neptune is linked to spirituality, extrasensory observations, magic, fantasy, fairy tales, drunkenness, and sexual issues. It is also associated with the ability of intuition. Neptune’s placement in the 1st, 3rd, 8th, 5th, 9th, or 12th house indicates a person with heightened sensitivity, strong intuition, and a deep connection to the unseen realms.
Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto are not mentioned in the Rig Vedas and are rarely used in Vedic astrology. However, they are associated with higher, more collective aspects of consciousness. Major breakthroughs and surprise events will have Uranus influence, and divine spiritual periods will always have Neptune involved.
In earthy abodes like Taurus, Virgo, or Capricorn, Neptune channels its influence towards grounded problem-solving and pragmatic creativity. Neptune in the 12th House suggests a person with heightened sensitivity, strong intuition, and a deep connection to the unseen realms.
In conclusion, Neptune’s position in your zodiac sign birth chart reflects your spiritual journey and the astrological characteristics of the outer planets.

To modern astrologers, planets can represent basic drives or urges in the subconscious, or energy flow regulators representing dimensions of experience. After extensive research it is rather obvious how the planet Neptune impacts a society. War War 2 begin right as Neptune entered Virgo. During the Swati period, it was the doo-wap boy band type era. The hippie era was during Vishaka. The sex fueled/disco-era was during the transit through Scorpio. The Reagan years/heavy metal years were through Moola. The Grunge era/early to mid 90s was through Purvashada. Things became rigid and hierarchical during the transit through Capricorn, as people started to worship the celeb mentality. And now we are in a transit through Aquarius(technology, science, mass movements, etc). Now the kicker is that eventually Neptune will transit through Purvabhadrapada and into Pisces. Last time Purvabhadrapada transit occurred caused massive unrest which was the precursor of the Civil War. The Civil War broke out in Pisces which caused a massive destabilization of society. When Neptune transits Pisces, it means the collective conscious mindset is that of the wanderer/nomad. Some sort of destabilization of society is likely to occur leading into this period.
I’ve been studying astrology (by myself, learning from books, web-sites, articles, through conversations, my own reflections) for 7 years now and am open to all systems. One can find some truth everywhere. Sidereal zodiac works prefectly for me, not equal signs, but the actual constellations. Anyways … I have to conclude that Uranus and Neptune (and Pluto) do matter. They reflect so clearly in the charts of people, especially when they are prominent. There is always something intense/penetrating about the people with Pluto in the first house, unusual/striking about people with Uranus in the first house and dreamy/compassionate with Neptune in the first house, when one meets them in person. Not to mention their influence when they are conjunct an angle or in any other aspect with it.
Uranus and especially Neptune I think hold a lot of importance within astrology. You said they can’t be tied to any family member so they’re more difficult to understand but I have to say, I’ve seen a consistent theme over the years with people having personal planets in harsh aspect to neptune, specifically sun/venus, suffering abandonment issues tied to the father figure, where father has some sort of addiction, is incarcerated, completely absent, etc. and this is including myself. Neptune also dissolves the ego and makes it hard for a person to truly know themselves and feel grounded in reality. I’ve also seen how erratic uranus can be in a chart. I know you posted this years back and you might have looked in to these planets more by now & maybe had a change of mind, but if not i strongly encourage you to do so. I would be missing many key pieces of information if I were to ignore these 2 big planets.
Uranus does have a very big impact on my life. It’s like my other side got activated all of a sudden, my Venus, Uranus and Neptune are in Aquarius. All of a sudden I became more analytical, intellectual and rebellious than I was already before. Aquarius became so strong in me. And having moon in cancer, I liked this. It become a balance between my emotional and analytical thinking. I like this balance.
I hv Uranus conjunct my Ascendant and what your Uranus wants is change. Uranus is unhappy if you get stuck in a rut. Uranus don’t want to be stuck or confined. Change up your life. BE unpredictable. Change your route to school, etc. Change the furniture and make it different. Add something new. This is when Uranus brings YOU gifts.
I started with learning about vedic astrology then gradually moved towards the western astrology. I agreed with most of vedic astrology but still felt quite a lot of things missing though, questions unanswered. But after incorporating them with western astrology it made sense of why I was so intense. Neptune, Uranus, Pluto, Lilith, etc have a huge impact on us especially if conjunct angles, or in major houses, aspecting your personal planets, I realised why I wasn’t like any other Leo sun and moon, how I think, I’m pretty Neptunian and Plutonian which makes my thinking a hell lot intense where I don’t fit in with people who aren’t like me.
I can tell u from expereince that uranus transit had a big effect on my life! Those 15 years aspecting my 10 house,i hadf no ohter plant for 10 years there, only jupiter came at 12 years, but ni rest no transit, except venus and mars. When urnaus came,i start working in computer bussines (tehnology),became interested in science,Sf movies over night, and all futuristic stuff. I think uranus is important as transit, lets say u live 40 years,he is only aspecting 2 houses, but if that asperct is near ur MC,ascendent, personal planets(mars, venus, etc).I think then has an effect. I know a case some one paralysed from uransu transit,he was aqaurius,so land lord is uranus and saturn, transit at that time of the accident was only uranus near his sun and his mars. If uranus or neptune doesnt aspect a personal planet or rising,i think then it desnt have so much effect on the chart.
I do wish I could talk personally to you, because the activity of Uranus and Neptune in my life is more than profound. I had a chart done last year from A. Ross, and his excitement about just the small bit of information you get prior to the full chart baffled me,but everything has been about total transformation and the forces of spiritual and social revolution. The coming of the infinite and transcendental soul. I am trying to write a book about the coming of a Future revolution, complete change on this planet. whether right or wrong, I seem to have this information already completed in my mind. I am working on getting this information, message done. But very hard, and it comes so rapidly. Hopefully the powers that be will bring me others in to my life I can discuss and share this awesome, and my new word,I created ” Spirexciphoric”, means, spiritual, exciting, euphoric. I created it because I just couldn’t find a word that best describes the feeling about the information I am speaking of. Thank you for your article, it was more things to think about
Uranus brings great insight in how society and people function. However, it does make you disappointed in people and society. It creates a rebelling nature in the person. It makes them creative, intelligent and original. However, it also makes them feel alienated and alone as well. At the same time they don’t mind rubbing people the wrong way or people disliking them.
I am Aqua sun/moon, Pisces Mercury/Venus and Scorpio Mars/rising… its all Uranus, Neptune, Pluto… an i disagree that they do not exist or affect u… i PERFECTLY AND INTENSLY feel their frequency and i love it. I dont consider myself being Mercury/Jupiter/Mars dominant as they are their co-rulers
The Age of Aquarius will bring a greater understanding of these planets as an increased awareness and higher state of consciousness will tally up their results. We have gone through the ages in the zodiac except for the age of Aquarius. The mental plane (masculine) will blend with the emotional (feminine) plane causing less confusion…
Kapiel, I like you a lot and I think you are very accurate, and probably you are not going to read this but…I’m not agree with you about us not taking care about Uranus and Neptune. Perhaps those planets stay 15 years in one place but the others planets are going to aspect both while they transit. Western call them interpersonal planets because they rule our psychological evolution, our mind but transcendental mind, it’s not visible … I believe in them and taking my personal experience when you have some important planet aspecting Uranus, for example, you’ll have some changes in your life for sure, and it would be better if you know about it.
Uranus actually changes signs every 7-8 years. And I’ve seen a lot of interesting things happen to people with close conjunctions or oppositions of uranus to personal planets (me being one of them with an exact opposition to mg Venus from Uranus) I was also able to predict some pretty huge life changing events in a couple of my clients lives based on seeing uranus transiting the ASC or DSC. I agree than I haven’t seen as big of an impact from neptune or pluto, however in my personal life ive noticed I had pluto opposing a stellium of my personal planets beginning in 2002 and lasting until 2020 when it will oppose my mars and whenever those aspects are exact, I feel them deeply with all very plutonian themes. I practice vedic astrology for its accuracy in prediction but I dont rule out the outer planets. I just see if they are echoing the same themes as inner planets.
I have them both in my first house, what does it mean? To give a short snapshot of my life I would like to tell that my life totally changed in year 2014 when I became spiritual. I am a more detached from worldly desires or atleast my ideal self is like famous saints like meerabai, tukaram, gyaneshwar maharaj etc. I want to be immerged into god when i die.
I love astrology and I must say I really disagree with you that these 2 planets aren’t important. I believe they are 2 of the most important planets relevant to our conciousness and our minds. I am in love with both of these planets and what they represent. You’re an awesome teacher and so greateful you are here for me to learn♥️ Thanks
You wrote this in 2011. I wonder if you’re opinion has changed. Uranus stays in each sign for 7 years. When you did this article Uranus was either in Pices or Aries. Either way it was my 12th house; depending upon Western Astrology or Vedic. OMG…Its in my first house now and I can’t wait for sudden changes of enlightenment. “Behold I come quickly and my reward is with me,”…says Christ Consciousness to his Bride, Gaia.🤗
He’s right tho. But I believe these 2 planets affect the Earth as a whole. Not an individual. They are too far to affect every individual in every life. And they are too far to even leave a solid effect despite them being in a sign for long. Yes there were changes in the world as Uranus Neptune and Pluto transited certain signs but they affected the Earth as a whole for a while but it was other planets that made it better or worse and it’s not to be studied on an individual basis. These 2 planets along with Pluto need to be studied according to a generation
I study both vedic and tropical astrology and I identify much more with my sidereal chart. With that said, I am a Pisces rising in my tropical chart. I have Neptune and Uranus conjunct and I do not feel particularly connected to any of my family members. Viewing Neptune and Uranus as co-rulers makes sense for me in my tropical chart bc of the lack of support I feel from regarding my family.
I have Uranus in the 10th and Neptune in the 9th but so close to my midheaven that it is conjunct to it. These both play a big part in my chart. I have an opposition to Uranus with Venus and with Neptune and Mars so these energies are very familiar and obvious to me. I also have these planets retrograde so I really do feel the movements and shifts of the collective internally in a way. Hard to explain out loud but yeahhhh😂
@krschannel i am just curious about tarot readers, according to you, how correct is that? i personally don’t believe much in tarot reading, i have been to few readers but i don’t find them very convincing or accurate. i have also seen a trend of using western astrology and tarot reading at the same time… what do you have to say about this?
Hi! I have a question for you. I have been reading today some articles about gemini and I have found out that neptun is going to enter gemini this year and it’ll stay there for 14 years. The stuff I am concern about is that everybody’s saying that for gemini neptun is gonna bring some bad changes into their lifes. So the question: I am a gemini, with the moon in aries, and I want you to make me understand how neptun’s entering is gonna affect me for the next 14 years. Thank you.
trust me, I think Neptune is more than what meets the eye. I’ve changed 40 houses and 13 jobs, after Netpune set his awesome foot into my moon sign 🙂 Am trying to find out what I need to accomplish, because everything is supposed to make you reach that goal…. strangely, I think am closer now… 🙂 but it would be a lot easier just to know in advance of what all I should do you… am very open person, I will do this.. right?
Ha! Uranus, Neptune and Pluto have no effect? I don’t think so. Let me tell you what happened when Uranus transited, in opposition to, my natal Sun conjunct Pluto in my 4th house: my neighbours physically attacked me in my flat with a weapon! I had to leave my home for two months! However, that shock out of the blue lead to a profound transformation in me which lead to me developing much higher esoteric and archetypal abilities. Planets that affect generations are personal: if Pluto and Uranus combine to cause a war, earthquake or famine, and you lose family or a job, guess what? That feels personal. Uranus is raising and liberating the consciousness of everyone – it causes Genius, foresight, and an electric mind when aspected well. Neptune can be wonderful for a career in the movies, or make you an alchoholic, and Pluto is just no joke: he makes Saturn look kind – he’s merciless! Transform or die. The slow planets matter because they show you how the whole world is changing in ways we cannot control – they change all of humanity.😀
I really enjoy your article and your meaningful advices. I truly respect your insight. I’ve watched many of your articles on youtube and also ordered No. 6 vedic astrology at your store since I’m a total beginner in the field. I have studied Tropical Placidus and Koch astrology over 30 years and there have been certain things never made sense. Especialy sun signs, and I found your link and my sun sign (born in December) falls into Scorpio! But then I’m far from what you explained about Scorpio. I’m much more Sagittarius in your explanations than Scorpio even looking at my other personal planets which mainly in air sings. However there are many people who don’t much their sun sings, Virgo (behaves like cardinal, bossy etc), Leo (more like Virgo, studious, diligent and many are professors or teachers or bankers), Scorpio (more like Sag freedom lovers, hesitant to make commitment, constantly on the go, very sportive), Pisces (more like Aries, head strong, willful, innovative, take initiative, wanting to be the boss or top) etc. Nearly 30 years of struggle I found Progressive astrology (I was more into Transit and ignored Progression), that’s how I found the mismatch of the sun signs with their personalities even with their Ascendant didn’t make a sense and not matching who they were. Our ego suns stay forever printed in life in the sun signs but as it progresses, it goes to the next sign with dragging own sun sign. We become the next sun signs in certain time of life by “Day-for-a-Year Progression”.
uranus and neptune both in my 6th house capricorn north node.Have both a internet and porn addiction and it has ruined my life. broke so cant pay for a reading right now, can someone help? i have a taurus sun (in my aries 10th house) sag moon( in my scorpio 5th house, which pluto is also in and its retrograde) neptune is also retrograde and both neptune and uranus are 18°. what does all of this mean?
Neptune is in the first degree’s of my 11th house in the last degree of sagg, being on the verge of both should effect the planetary ‘vibes’ right? Uranus is in my 10th house of sagg 2 degree’s past MC, and followed by mercury 3 degree’s later, this inner-outer planet interaction, is that something to take note of? or should i just read them as being more general aspects?
North node Neptune nd Uranus are conjunct in Sagittarius sign and pluto is in libra sign which is rising sign in my horoscope. Surprisingly North node Neptune Uranus areconjuncted in Sagittarius sign all those people who are attracted to me or I attracted to him. Even one of them have Venus planet in Sagittarius sign with north node Neptune Uranus. Even Pluto has same position in their charts like it is in libra sign. What saturn is in same sign in Capricorn. M so surprised to see this even there are more similarities in are charts. What’s this. What the hell is this. What’s that mean? Why m I attracted to them and vice versa. I didn’t get the answer. It’s so crazy
This inability of astrologers to consider various inputs test them and finally accept them is why people get torn over sides and astrology gets less and less precise and objective than it Might be. People just can’t stop following the “old” texts to the T. Those gurus who got enlightened to astrology in the first place would be ashamed af if they were alive that we cannot accept change.
