Ranking Spell Macro Instructions?

The text discusses the functionality of macros in the game, specifically focusing on the ability to use ranks in a macro. It suggests that one can open their ability/spell book and shift-click an ability to add it to the macro. The syntax goes at the end of the ability as (Rank 5) or whatever. The only time you need the rank parentheses is for Faerie Fire (Feral), which must be listed as Faerie Fire (Feral)().

Addons like LPT allow you to create a macro that automatically updates your spell to the highest rank. HintMeRank (https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/hintmerank) can upgrade spell ranks, but it won’t do it automatically. To cast a spell on a low level player without a macro, the game automatically selects the highest rank that works on that target.

The text also discusses how to set up a macro for lower rank spells in classic mode. By adding the spell rank like Spell (rank 4), one can apply four rank 1 Shadow Word: Pain and finish with a Rank 8 Shadow Word: Pain. The text also mentions that you can view all ranks of your spells in the spellbook and shift-click the rank you want to see the exact syntax to make it work.

Lastly, the text mentions a simple healing macro that can downrank spells to save mana. For example, when pressing 3 to cast the highest rank Lesser Heal, the macro will automatically cast the highest rank Lesser Heal.

Is macros allowed in lol?

Macros are not allowed in online games, and they can be recognized by Anticheat and kicked out of the game. This is due to random delays before activation, which can lead to the game being halted. For example, a simple macro for a quick mine throw, which had random delays, was kicked out after 5 seconds. Similarly, a macro for a quick mine throw, which detonated a mine with a grenade launcher, caused 320 damage and allowed players to “Delete from the game” light and medium class. Anticheat works as intended and does not allow macros.

  • I see some comments saying this specific idea only works until gold, plat, etc. That might be true if you only look at the surface. Mindlessly split pushing will stop working pretty quickly. I think there’s a LOT more here than that, though. It’s not even hidden info, you just have to take this idea and be creative. Come up withy our own knowledge checks. I’m a support main, and I can knowledge check the enemies constantly in ways that aren’t split pushing. One example is the 20 minute baron. Given the right team comp and not being behind, you can setup baron vision / waves at 18-19 minutes, then kill it if the enemies don’t know to contest vision or aren’t around top jungle. They often are, but when they aren’t, they’ll literally let you take a baron you have no right taking. Same with dragon at earlier timers. Another more creative one is invading enemy jungle if you don’t need to recall and the enemy duo just based. If you’re against a lower threat jungler you know can’t kill you and you’re ranged (Karma is great at this), you can do that standard river ward, then do a very shallow invade and chunk the enemy jungler if he’s on gromp / krugs. If the enemy jungler doesn’t realize how vulnerable he is with his support in base, you just win a ton of HP and time off of him. There are soooooo many things to knowledge check that I ‘m sure I’m not aware of. Don’t take this at face value. Come up with your own repertoire of checks you know about, but lots of people at your ELO don’t 🙂 And once you climb enough for them to stop working as often, get creative again.

  • I love the idea of knowledge checking! As a garen 1trick I win almost no lanes, but I was telling a coach a while ago I “idiot check” every single opponent wave 1 by trying to get the lvl 2 push / posturing like I want to trade. A lot of times champions that crush me like Trynd or Darius let me zone them off xp level 1 lol

  • @9:00 this is the most frustrating part of the game for me, I have no idea who I can and cannot take on in any given game. I will be 2-0 and pick a fight with someone 0-3 thinking im ahead and they destroy me. I dont know how im supposed to know how I can win the fight with so many champions most of which ive never played

  • Sometimes your teammates are all that’s missing to win. Had a jg drop rift in my lane when I was hard winning and top already got tower, instead of bot who didn’t win and is struggling to get tower. CS is king in low elo all you have to do is manage the wave properly and leverage your game knowledge on if you could win certain fights and prioritize

  • This is cool, bur what do you do when your team loses the 4v5 and then the enemy team takes mid, you go back to try and clear wave, then they dive and kill you. Now the entire enemy team has dragon soul, baron, and is running down mid into your 5 teammates and you might be 3 or 4 items, but the entire enemy team has 3 items and your team only has 2 and a half items?

  • See my issue with this is that I am a jungle main and usually it’s the top laner doing this kind of split pushing. We’re basically always forced into a 4v5. Even if someone were to match the top laners split push that’s still our (most of the time) bruiser/tank out of a potential winnable teamfight. This is why I hate champs that build Hullbreaker or literally thrive off of split pushing like Yorick for example. They are never there for objectives or team fights.

  • The paradox is. if you are matching the enemy weak champ you win your “knowledge check” but force your team to send a person that cant defend against the other fed guy? Then the enemy strong sidelaner is doing the same correct thing with the same advantages no? Does not sound that groundbreaking idk.

  • What should I do as a jg main when they have a top laner who can 1v9 bc my top went 0/6 in lane and they keep pressuring us in the side lane? Do I try matching pressure in the opposite lane? Or go for the 3v1 to kill them? One of the knowledge checks is sending more than one person to defend but if we don’t send 2 or 3 to defend the fed top laner they just end the game

  • 2 problems. 1, if they send multiple defenders in low elo odds are your team will wipe even with numbers. 2, a lot of my games start with my team feeding 20 kills by the 15 minute mark and can’t hold a tower…if I stay splitting, I’m trading 2 towers for 4 and an inhib because my teams are almost always wotlrthless. In games like this, you can’t afford to die once in the mid game or it’s over.

  • I’m learning so much from this website! In knowing what knowledge checks to do, it also teaches me what to do when roles are reversed. How to recognize knowledge checks, and respond accordingly. Honestly, since I made a few simple changes you suggest in your articles, my win rate sky rocketed. I’m now carrying teams as Tristana bottom, last shotting minions early game, and have realized that every little advantage you get adds up. I’m thinking of signing up for Skill Capped, because just from your articles alone, LoL has gone from being frustrating, to fun. That, and now I’m in a higher ELO with players better since I started using the tips! XD

  • im low silver and i’ve been trying to learn macro from bauss with his ap jax build, taking care of side lanes always gives me so much gold, but every time i dont group up for some meaningless team fight against the way stronger enemy team i always get pinged and resisting that peer pressure to join them and die for nothing while our side lanes are being pushed by minions was the hardest part

  • It’s important to understand that you’re not “split pushing” until U can 1v9 it’s about what everything you do causes and why you’re doing it. For example Ur midlaner, w to whole enemy team is top for baron, U shld be bot getting resources and shoving waves, hopefully denying them said waves if they don’t have a tp up and then tp to the fight so U can have impact, and if they don’t have tp and answered U, now it’s 5v4 on baron and U can’t get punished bot since U shoved out wave. Always get as many safe resources as possible shove your wave before you move if it’s even remotely unsure if you HAVE to move before to make a difference. Or if U don’t know if U make it there in time, shove then look for it. Get your free shit. Enemy mid moved poorly? Don’t follow, shove spam Ping, and if you’d be there too late stay mid take plates, ward up on the opposite side of where U know they went cuz it’s safe to do so. Etc. I hope this helped someone.

  • in my silver games enemy team will always defend their turrets ….. they will tp there if needed ….. they will always have one side pushing …. meanwhile my teammates will ignore waves in our side …keep dying …. die exactly before 20 sec from obj ….. never collapse if get invaded by jungle and they have prio …. not to talk about 0/12 bot at 20 min ……. and yes as a jungler i be 50-100cs ahead and be behind in level and items of other jungler cause he farm ur teammates not camps ……………… it’s just pure unluck

  • I got to gold as a top laner by literally just pushing sidelanes if my TP was up. If it wasn’t, I just shadowed my team since if i was in a side lane without TP. They would immediately take a 4v5 and lose 80% of the time. Ideally I would draw someone from their team to match me so I could then teleport in pre fight and force a 5v4. I didnt change anything else about my laning, just following those rules. If my opponent took anything But TP it was usually a free win since for some reason at lower elos your original lane opponent shows up to match you, and you can teleport away to win a team fight while they sadly split push with nothing to ignite. I think this guide under estimates the worst case scenario. The enemy team can then immediately turn to barron and break the game open.

  • Some questions that came up for me after perusal this, a: werent there 2 threats in the Kaisa Game: Akshan and Morde? b: what would you build when you have to be prepared for either akshan or Morde? Else it seems like a good article, sad no top laner where shown xDD but I mean for that there are spilltpush article for them.

  • Play it as Yuumi or Millo support. I do something similar though since I play a mage support. Instead of split pushing, I look to setup vision traps and catch squishies which is usually the enemy support if they aren’t tank. Then I burst them down and remove them from any up coming team fight. This is best with a high damage mage support like Lux, Xerath, or Brand. This only works though when ahead, even, or slightly behind the enemies. If you are too far behind then you don’t have the power to burst anyone. Typically a support mage needs 1.5 items and level 11 to do this on squishies. This is going off the fact most squishies have around 1.6K health or less. You should be able to do 1.6K damage in a full rotation as a support mage at level 11.

  • Question wouldnt you have failed the knowledge check because camille is closer to your tower then you are to theirs and you have a better chance defending against camille then your team? Or did you just avoid fighting camille since she’s stronger? And if she is stronger than you and your team couldnt she just straight up end the game?

  • Kaisa cait are absolutely not weak duellists at this elo… Especially not cait. I often get free turrets this way, but with mf, unless I have a full item lead, I can’t never burst out anyone that’s not especially squishy. Does that mean that low elo adc that are more macro-oriented should focus on 1v1 champs? That said, thanks for the knowledge, great article!

  • The sidelane push is not reliable because the enemy team can, as per your first example, kill your team. In your showcased calculation, that leaves your team with the same gold advantage but with more gold concentrated on you. What you didn’t account for there is that the enemy team is now free to push towers in the lane they won the fight in, and they can push towers faster than you can as a solo. This will turn the gold advantage around against your favour completely.

  • Last week I played many games with emeralds and I swear they don’t understand the game. I’m not saying I’m better but they really fall for every split push tactic. One goes bot and everyone rotates so they can get the kill. Meanwhile the other team does baron without problems. I mean how does that work in emerald ?

  • But what happens when you play immobile mages mid lane but the enemy team is always perma grouping and just running around the map together doing absolutely no macro nor pushing out lanes? How do you split push there or side lane when there’s no vision on little to nobody? That happens a lot and why I’m always scared to sidelane as a mid player. (At least in the games where the enemy team does this)

  • you make it like you can have a 100% win rate. This is not how solo q works. The team does not send someone to defend a split pusher and therefore cannot pick the best match ups. It is simply a factor of who happens to have gone back when top needs defending. These guides will improve your win rate but there are unrealistic.

  • 9:30 So Camille did literally same thing as you, didn’t defend pushed bot (you didn’t defend top), and just pushed one lane… so looks like you won that game but not thanks to that strategy, but thanks to team that was better in the end. Because if your strategy was mirrored by Camille that was able to 1v1 you, then something else made you win.

  • Oh nooooooo… It’s your guys fault. For some reason I had been finding more and more people in my games that just refuse to critically think about macro and have been just turbo funneling themselves and being on the side lanes at all times. No one is actually thinking about WHO should be going to the side lanes and everyone just wants to go to the side lanes selfishly. All of these people watched your article and learned what you said. But they didn’t understand it. Tons of people are just trying to be the side lane lone wolf no matter what their role is, or the possible consequence it’s having on the team.

  • Great vid never said anything about afks or when the enemy (all five) run it down a lane and no one does anything 4 mins into the game and we lose lost (4 games like that) and what about SMURFS every ranked game 80% of my games there a one or more Plat and up player I’m freaking IRON (7 games like that) or when ur entire team doesn’t ward or looks at the map and u literally 1v9 cuz they keep spamming the are new (5 games like that) and riot cuz im losing so much with 15 stra8 games decides to keep putting other lose streak BOTS on my team against wins win streak smurfs and the like im not JK dont believe me i will give you my summoner name u can check yourselves I cant make this sht up NO ONE LEAVES IRON ONCE YOUR PLACE THERE (not fall to iron get placed in iron cuz ur placement matches are against faker )

  • So I bought a low elo account (I know, naughty), to play with my son. I’ve used these techniques, in Iron & Bronze w/him, but what I find most often is my own teammates fail the knowledge check as well. Go to push lanes and 2-3 teammates will follow where ever I go. Or, I push no one responds, but my team is grouped up in the jungle taking Gromp together, for no reason. I would love to see you try this tactic again, below Silver, and compare the results.
