There is little to no evidence that conspiracy theory beliefs are associated with mental illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or major depression.

Belief traps are essential in tackling the inertia of harmful conspiracy theories. By understanding the appeal of conspiracy theories, psychiatrists can help patients navigate the challenges of navigating the complex web of conspiracy beliefs and their potential negative consequences.
