Are you allowed to do your own tarot reading?
Tarot is a popular and ancient practice that has gained popularity in the mainstream. It involves using cards to interpret and predict the future, providing insight into current situations and allowing individuals to make predictions. Tarot spreads can be done on oneself, even for beginners. To begin, clean the energy of your space by burning herbs, ringing bells or chimes, taking a bath, or using crystals. A Selenite wand is a popular energy refresher that can be used to clear the space, cards, and your body.
After cleansing the energy, sit comfortably and visualize protective energy surrounding you. Shuffle the deck by taking deep breaths, thinking about your question or needing guidance, and keeping your mind and heart open to potential answers. When the cards feel mixed, deal them out in a “spread”, which influences the meaning of each card in combinations. It is important to know the spread you will be working with before beginning to shuffle, as the answers may require additional cards for further clarity or starting with a new question from a different perspective.
In summary, Tarot is a powerful tool for gaining insight into current situations, honoring intuition, and forecasting potential outcomes. It is a simple process that can be done on oneself, and it is essential to practice regularly to ensure a successful Tarot reading.

How to pick a tarot reader?
To find an experienced Tarot Reader online, consider the Tarot Reader’s profile and style, trust intuition, find a personal connection, understand what to expect from the session, and look for positive testimonials and reviews. Tarot readings provide valuable insights into challenges, inner desires, and overall well-being, helping clients reflect on their circumstances and gain self-awareness. However, not everyone has access to a local specialist who can do an in-person reading.
To unlock potential, find a skilled online tarot reader. Many professional tarot readers offer virtual consultations, typically over a video conferencing platform like Zoom, where you can meet with your practitioner and discuss your reading together, allowing you to ask questions and develop a rapport with your reader.
What type of person reads tarot cards?
The tarot is a universal tool that can be read by anyone, regardless of age, profession, or background. It is not a tool that can be used in conjunction with other practices like spellcraft, astrology, crystal work, or divination. Instead, the tarot’s magic lies in its narrative power, which invites questions and self-reflection, empowering individuals to make their own decisions about their future.
The interplay between different cards can offer new perspectives, challenge old ways of thinking, or even force individuals to acknowledge hidden aspects of themselves. While the tarot can be helpful in making decisions and thinking about the future, it is not as effective as popular culture has led us to expect. The tarot’s narrative power allows for self-reflection and enables individuals to make their own decisions about their future.
In conclusion, the tarot is a universal tool that can be used by anyone, regardless of their background or profession.
Who can be a tarot reader?
Tarot cards can be a powerful tool for understanding the meaning of the world, as they can connect with intuition and open new ways of looking at the world. Tarot readings can be done without being psychic, as the symbols can open up new perspectives. Professional tarot readers agree that the journey is personal, and the first step is to choose a deck that speaks to you. There are various options, such as the Wild Unknown deck, the Tarot de Marseilles deck, or a deck of playing cards.
Beginners may start with the influential Rider-Waite-Smith deck, which inspired many later iterations. The journey is a personal one, and the choice of deck depends on the individual’s needs and preferences.

Tarot is a popular and accessible tool for anyone, according to author Michelle Tea. She believes that learning tarot involves becoming comfortable with the imagery, learning them by heart, and understanding how the cards interact. Tea’s book, Modern Tarot: Connecting with Your Higher Self through the Wisdom of the Cards, provides a beginner’s guide to tarot, guiding readers through each card in a deck, sharing reading tips, and ways to incorporate tarot into self-care practices. How to pick a tarot deck for someone?
The representation of people in tarot cards is a topic of debate, with traditional decks like Rider Waite Smith often leaving little room for people of color (POC), queer people, and those with rebellious bodies. This lack of diversity can be beneficial for personal development and for those planning to read for others. While there are growing numbers of diverse decks, it is still not the norm to see a wide diversity of people in cards. Some readers prefer “people-free” tarot decks, such as those with animals or other beings as characters.
Asali’s Tarot, on the QTPOC list, is a good resource for those seeking decent POC and/or queer/genderqueer representation. The Little Red Tarot Shop offers collections of diverse tarot decks to explore. It is important to be aware of who is visually represented in your tarot deck to make an informed choice.

📹 6 Ways to Choose a Tarot Card
Do you ever wonder about the “right” way to choose a Tarot card? There are so many ways to draw Tarot cards, so use the …
I choose cards by shuffling them until one literally “jumps out.” Some times I continue to do this for all the cards in the spread, but at other times, especially when short on time, I will top there and pull cards from where the card jumped out. I find letting the cards “jump out” works better for me.
I normally feel a warmth in my left palm, and if I pick the right one, I get goosebumps all along the left side of my body. That’s how I know the question’s been successfully answered. I didn’t know the left side was so intuitively sacred, now it all makes sense. When I tried the circling of the palm, everything was much more sensitive. Going to try all of these, thanks for the wonderful tips!
this is so strange everything that you are teaching us I already knew subconsciously and have been doing it for years I must be a natural? The only thing I need to work on is comprehending and making a story out of my readings I overthink a lot. And there’s no way to really try to find someone that’s missing I’ve come to find or maybe I just haven’t realized it. But thank you I appreciate it
I do something similar to the “fan method” although in my case, they’re in a straight line, but still overlapping, like this: ((((( ) Then I’ll lightly run my fingers over the cards (touching them) and whichever card “sticks” to my finger is the one I pull. Another method is what I call the “number method” where I’ll let a number from 1-78 come to me and whichever number does, I’ll count off that many cards and pull the one that was the number I got (e.g. if I got “seven” I’ll count six cards and pull out the seventh one). I did the number method the other day in a reading for myself and got cards that were scarily relevant to a current situation I’m in.
I more love doing #3. But you made me feel so much better when you said if your OCD like me then you have a hard time stop shuffling!! It’s little things but that helped me so much haha. Didn’t know I needed this words.but they resonated so deep and now gave me more. confidence and kinda a little sign to me saying #3 now im finding and perfecting that method. So grateful. Hi Kate, This is a great article. I like to use the fall away method quite often and the way I do it is, when I tilt the deck it usually falls away in clumps like yours did on the article. Then I like to take the top card from each seperation the deck fell into, if that makes any sense. Love your articles.
So I chose 8 swords earlier, but I went along w u I got 8 swords x4, 7swords, 9 swords Ty I have been learning 6 months now. I want to know what I am doing before reading for anyone and ppl have asked why it took me so long. I knew there’s so much to learn and I’ve been devoted to garden, seeds, beads, dog of course, cat, the stray cat who moved in and was crazy ferel. Ty I appreciate it Dl
I shuffle the cards and cards usually cards just flip out and I have been using this method and it seems to be very helpful. For me for reason..other methods don’t work as well…maybe because I find them too distracting and its just me…but this method works for me, the only one that works the best so far for me. Thanks = )
I love this article- definitely gonna try the hand chakra method considering I am a chakra energy healer. Hilarious that it never occurred to me to do that- lol Queston? what deck are you using- always looking for new decks to check out- also I LOVE your “Ultimate Tarot Journal” I am a beginner to tarot and it is so helpful!!! Blessings and Happy New Year!
This is a great article, I have used all of these methods, except the popup method, it differs from reading to reading for me. In a multiple card reading I sometimes use a different method for each card or sometimes I will chose card 1 with one method, then chose cards 2 and 3 with another, then chose card 4, 5, 6, and 7 with another, ect.. just depends on how the cards speak to me! Looking forward to trying the popup method!
Thank you this is very helpful! I have noticed I fan them in different shapes and my left finger moves down to pick. I’m still a beginner so I love that I felt so deeply guided to o my use left hand but never knew why. Great info!
