The Definition Of The Seresto Conspiracy?

Seditious conspiracy is a crime that involves conspiring against the authority or legitimacy of the state, often compared to treason. It involves inciting violent action against the government. Conspiracy theories attempt to explain harmful or tragic events as the result of the actions of a small powerful group, rejecting accepted explanations. Conspiracy theories are prevalent in social and political discourse, with serious consequences for individuals, groups, and societies. Psychological scientists have also explored conspiracy theories, such as the shadow government, cryptocracy, secret government, or invisible government. Conspiracy theories are defined as the belief that a secret but influential group, such as a political party, is controlling events behind the scenes. Actual conspiracies secretly plan to harm people, such as stealing resources, exploitation, raiding, killing, or, at the extreme, committing crimes. The FDA is refusing to redo a review that gave a pass to Seresto tick collars, implicated in thousands of pet deaths.

What is Seresto used for?

Seresto® is a non-greasy, easy-to-use collar that effectively kills and repels fleas and ticks for 8 months. It also helps treat sarcoptic mange and kills lice. Seresto® is suitable for dogs, whether they dig up garbage or dig up old shoes. Its innovative Sustained Release Technology ensures effective protection in a non-greasy, easy-to-apply collar. This product is ideal for dogs who bring home fleas and ticks.

What type of drug is Seresto?

Imidacloprid is an ectoparasiticide belonging to the chloronicotinyl chemical class. It is effective against the larval and adult stages of fleas, as well as lice. The drug’s efficacy is immediate upon application of the collar, with optimal results against C. canis observed within a week. Furthermore, it has been shown to be effective against Ctenocephalides canis and Pulex irritans fleas, in addition to the indications for which it is currently indicated.

What are the side effects of Seresto for humans?

The Seresto® product presents a choking hazard due to the presence of small parts. It is contraindicated for children to place the product in their mouths or touch it with their eyes, skin, or clothing. Individuals with a sensitivity to flumethrin and imidacloprid are advised to avoid any contact with the substance. It is inadvisable for humans to utilise pharmaceuticals intended for animals, and conversely, animals should not be administered pharmaceuticals intended for humans.

What is the lawsuit on Seresto collars?

Elanco Animal Health and Bayer have agreed to pay $15 million to settle a Seresto class action lawsuit, alleging that Seresto flea and tick collar products are dangerous and pose serious health risks to pets. The settlement benefits consumers in the U. S., its territories, or the District of Columbia who purchased Seresto products for personal use and not for resale before July 8, 2024. The lawsuit claims that Seresto collars were misrepresented as effective for eight months and that they are associated with serious neurological health risks and even death.

Does Seresto really work?

Flea collars, like Seresto®, are effective and cost-effective alternatives to topical drops in repelling fleas. They take about 24 hours to work against existing fleas and kill new ones within two hours. Flea collars offer the longest continuous protection, requiring only one to three months of reapplying compared to oral products. They also provide a convenient application method, making them a preferred choice for pet parents. While it’s important to wash hands after handling flea collars, they offer a convenient alternative to topical drops.

Has Seresto been taken off the market?

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has confirmed that the Seresto flea and tick collar will remain on the market after a multi-year review. The review found that the collars meet EPA’s standards under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) and provide flea and tick prevention for dogs and cats, as well as lice control for dogs. However, the EPA is requiring Elanco Animal Health to implement additional measures to alert veterinarians and consumers of potential risks and provide more information on preventing and reporting adverse reactions. The new measures will also improve the quality of adverse incident data reported to the EPA. Since its launch in 2013, over 41 million Seresto collars have been sold in the U. S.

Are Seresto collars safe now?

Since its launch in 2013, over 41 million Seresto collars have been sold in the U. S., with an estimated incidence of adverse events of approximately 0. 116 in 2022. The Seresto collar, developed by Bayer and now sold by Elanco, has faced increased scrutiny, including a Congressional inquiry and class action lawsuits, following a March story claiming it was responsible for 1, 700 pet deaths and 1, 000 human incidents since its introduction in 2012. The EPA began an in-depth review of Seresto-related incidents in 2021.

Environmental Protection Agency’s history, with over 101, 000 incident reports, including 2, 700 pet deaths and 894 incidents involving humans. As of October 3, 2022, if you’ve purchased a Seresto flea and tick collar, you’re eligible for up to $13 for every one purchased under a settlement in a class-action lawsuit filed against the company.

If your pet died in a manner “allegedly related” to wearing a Seresto product, you’re eligible for $300 plus medical costs plus fees for burial or cremation. In 2021, two pet owners filed a class action lawsuit against Elanco Animal Health, alleging that the company misrepresented the product’s safety.

Why is Seresto still being sold?

The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved Elanco Animal Health’s continued sale of Seresto flea and tick collars for cats and dogs, despite a safety debate dating back to 2021. The decision comes with several mitigation requirements for the manufacturer, including improving reporting of adverse incidents, adding new warnings to product labels, and expanding outreach to veterinarians. The agency has rebuffed calls from lawmakers, activists, and pet owners to remove the collars from the market.

  • Such an important article. I lost my sweet kitty to Hartz flea and tick medicine. I used it because he behaved so badly at the vet so I was scared to take him. Especially considering how rude the vet was to us about it the last time. Now I take my very sweet cat and my straight up feral to the vet (a different one) and just let them deal with him. I refuse to lose another animal over something so ridiculous.

  • Very important article that every pet owner should watch. I see so many flea and tick remedies at your local Dollar Store and I wish they’d stop doing that. And remember if you’re going to give your dog bravecto it’s ingested and your dog is stuck with it for I believe 60 days, if they have an allergic reaction there’s nothing you can do or the vet can do to help other than administer fluids. I’ve seen too many articles of bad reactions with flea and tick remedies I don’t give my dog anything and I have been lucky I have never had fleas on her or in my house. Thanks for the great article Andrew☺

  • My poor cat and I have dealt with fleas this entire Summer in Tennessee. She has seizures and I think they may have started with an over the counter like Frontline. My cat has been so badly pulling her hair out and she was and is miserable, and I am miserable because I have to vacuum constantly, wash bedding and shampoo carpets, getting tore up with cat baths. I am WORE OUT!!! I was told to use Advantage 2, I just applied it to her tonight August 21, 2022. I pray she doesn’t have a seizure and that she can take this and that it WORKS. PRAYING!!!

  • My cat had a sever reaction to Advantage. He was panting and his temperature rose to 105. The vet would not administer fluids. Basically said just to watch him ?? What? He survived but immediately began to slowly decline. Renal failure. So I do all I can for comfort and hope he is with us for a while. Now I use Ecomange. Works like a charm.

  • NO ONE SHOULD EVER USE HARTZ BRAND!!!!! They should be put out of business!!!! Besides that, I had a cat die a year ago from kidney failure, I know it’s a lot to do with getting enough clean water but, what about the flea drops we use over the years? I don’t want to lose another cat but, THE FLEAS!!!! 😥😿

  • This is so upsetting. Last summer I gave one of my 4 cats a topical cat flea & tick – he went CRAZY! Ran around the house, vomited a number of times, foamed on the mouth, ran in circles. It was awful. He recovered but he was really sick for 48 hours. I’ve found a few fleas on my indoor cats in the last few days and have been too afraid of the side effects to do anything (and they sleep with me. Ugh!). I will be perusal your natural applications articles. Thank you!

  • I’m glad you brought this up because this happened to my cats three of them before I found out what happened! Do not have your cats around your dogs that have been treated for at least two to three days!! You know how cats love to rub on the dogs and play with the dogs that is very dangerous after a treatment! That is a dog treatment Advantix on a dog and the cat is exposed to your dog!! Seizures and drooling the main symptoms an exposed cat to the dog flea medication! Thanks Doc really good advice!!👍🐅

  • Lets talk about FIC on this flea article. My cat Bean never had any urinary issues. Noticed fleas on him and ran to petsmart and got cap start and some flea shampoo. The day of and after he seemed very lathargic. 2 days later he was peeing blood and blocked. My vet said it was a coincidence. Hes been on vet perscribed flea treatment since. Also has had a PU surgery. Seems to have an flair up ~ 2 months or so. Last one was really bad 23 visits to the box notified from the petivity scale. Settles down within 3 days. Day two to 8 visits, 4th day back to normal. Today i gave my 8mo old cat vet prescription flea treatment. Nexgaurd Combo. Within 30 mins he was foaming out the mouth, itching like crazy, and rolling around on the ground shaking. I separated my two cats when applying to let it dry so they couldn’t lick it off each other. Good thing i checked on him. I threw him in a bath ASAP and washed it all off. He’s doing better now, thank god. Im done with this pesticide shit. Starting to wonder if there is a link between pesticides and FIC. Its a nero toxin right. Just saying.

  • Thank you for posting this article!!! I’m sure i speak for many when i say, i wish every vet thought and had a heart like yours. About 3 years ago, my old (no longer) vet prescribed Bravecto to my cats. They would scream when we put it on and my vet would say that cats are just drama queens (which is in part true). I had cats, two of them had horrible allergic reactions, one of them actually got a bald patch on the spot the dose was put in. I thought how horrible it must feel to have something on your skin, so strong that it actually causes baldness. I was actually worried that i may loose one of the two. I started checking online and read so many horror stories about people loosing their cats because of these treatments, it’s practically poison. Fleas are such a big problem and i got another issue again this year but fortunately you put out a solution that i will be trying. I was so scared to use those solutions because as much as I hate fleas, i wasn’t sure which topical treatment i was willing to use knowing i could be risking my cats life. I wasn’t willing to sacrifice any of them. Again.. thank you so much!!!!

  • We used Bayer Advantage Multi on the vets advice a month ago…. i wanted Frontline (We used Frontline on my 2 yr old female cat since she was a kitten with no issue.), but he talked me into using this on her & our 3 new males kittens(9 months old). In less than 24 hours, all four of our cats became lethargic. I had no idea it was due to the application of flea control. They all seemed to recover, but one of the 9 month old kittens began throwing up, so we took him to the vet & they gave him some steroids & antibiotics… charged us for it, too….even after stating it was a reaction to the application of the Advantage that they recommended. It has been nearly 4 weeks now & he still throws up occasionally & his eyes don’t look right… like he has neuro damage from it. I ponder if there is liver or kidney damage caused by this, as well, since he still throws up occasionally. After reading several horror stories from other cat owners about Advantage, I gave my cat some diatomaceous earth in the water bowl, in hopes it will help pull any of this from his system. He was a perfectly healthy, fully vaccinated 9 month old kitten that now has lasting effects from this…..NOW WHAT? I am so worried about him & SO ANGRY AT THE VET & BAYER. Will this shorten his life or make him miserable for the remainder?

  • I hate using any of this stuff on my pets. Thank goodness we don’t have a big flea problem, even with 4 cats and 3 dogs in the house. Every so many yrs we have a flea summer and I simply bath my cats in the kitchen sink with Dawn dish soap. You can see the dead fleas being washed off. And then spray around the litter boxes with Vets Best natural flea and tick spray. Never had to do any more than a few weeks worth of spraying… and a couple weeks of baths.

  • I remember once I used Hartz on my cat and he got SO sick I seriously thought he was going to die. I used dish soap to wash it off as well and I think that’s what saved him. That is why now I use Diatomaceous Earth like you mentioned you can use in your last article about fleas. The natural remedies might take a bit more time and you may have to do a bit more work, but I don’t think that it’s a big deal at all for my pets safety to spend that extra time.

  • I bought that Hartz kind 12 years ago for a cat I had and she got poisoned from it and eventually went blind. Her Vet had her on antibiotics but she had to put down because she just got worse. I try to stay away from flea medications if I can. I’ve had only had to treat my cats once and that was when I got them. I use Wondercide which is a herbal treatment it works great. I treat around the doorways and outside my doors and so far never had to treat my cats.

  • All of our pets are and have been rescues. And every shelter, humane society, or rescue org has applied this stuff before their adoptions. I love our vet clinic and how well they take care of our animals even during quarantine. But they are perplexed that I refuse to allow them to apply any flea/tick formulas to our dog or cats as an ongoing treatment.

  • I stopped using flea dips or flea treatments several years ago. I got a brand, not gonna say which one it is. Put it on my cat my little girl, and she got sick. She did pull through and get better but it actually changed her meow. Ever since then I just use a flea comb and I will calm her every day until no more fleas come off and if I have to I’ll bath her.

  • I had a cat die horribly from hartz. She had seizures for years after one dose. We went to the emergency vet at the first seizure and they let us know it was going to be a lifelong thing with no treatment, because we used hartz, which is a neurotoxin. And eventually she had a seizure while walking on the side of the pool. We had to get her body out with a skimmer. If you use Hartz or anything from Walmart, we will never talk as equals.

  • I was working at a vets when Hartz put this crap out. I am still traumatized to this day from all the cats we saw having seizures/deaths. We even saw this when it was only used on the family dog. Cats and dogs are not the same species. What is fine for your dog can kill your cat! Thanks for this article!

  • What do we do about fleas then? I have used Advantage once and a month later Frontline. Worked for about four days. Still about a week until they are due for the next dosage now. The kitties (2 of them) are miserable and scratching even though I use the flea comb on them 2 times a day. They are so unhappy and so am I because I don’t know of any other thing to help them. Please advise. These are longhaired indoor kitties, by the way.

  • I’m not fond of OTC flea meds mostly because they seem to be a waste of money. With one of my dogs I had put a size appropriate flea collar on him and he was really bothered by it. He was restless so I took it off of him and threw it away. I have an elderly dog who attracts fleas unlike I’ve seen before. I noticed if I control his fleas the other dogs do better and I don’t have to treat them as often. They typically get by with one quality dose in the Spring.

  • If your cat has a reaction to topical meds – do NOT NOT NOT try to shampoo it off if they are already having a reaction. Cats hate water on them, and your cat will already be stressed out from the meds and having difficulty breathing and the added stress of a bath will cause your cat a heart attack and kill your cat. I learned the hard way – do NOT give your pets over the counter meds PERIOD!

  • We had a kitty cat flea and tick collar hearts mountain blah blah blah blah blah blah blah and last year our big boy cat he likes to drink water and he’s kind of got his collar wet L after wearing the collar for while it was about two weeks my daughter realized that his neck was sopping wet and she thought somebody was trying to skin him alive it turned out it was the cat collar and it was a very expensive cat collar treatment because all the skin on his neck fell off $$ at the vet

  • We have a one year old ratcoon and we have a chahuahua. Are dog got are ratcoon flees and she keep itching her neck raw really bad so we thought. It would be ok to split a flee medicine treatment for five pound dog between them. But it’s made Lola are ratcoon sick. She been throwing up for last two days. She’s still alert getting down for water etc. What can I do to make her feel better. Hope I’ve not hurt my baby.

  • If that’s Hartz brand….my cats had the worst reaction to it!!!!! Never again!!!! Its cheap but I ended up buying a more expensive brand, and I’ve tried many!! Tried a couple of off brand names on Amazon which so far, has worked….for the most part. I have to use a couple of different brands because some of my cats are more sensitive to one brand over another.

  • I have 2 indoor cats that I want to start letting outside on a leash because they’ve started to gain interest in outside. If flea collars and flea ointments are poison what should I ask/look for to keep them safe? It sounds like there’s a safe version of flea medication that the vet may have access to?

  • Y would anyone put off the most important decision they could ever make in their lives concerning eternal life? If you die today are you going to heaven? In 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 The apostle Paul tells us what the gospel is: “Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. Gospel means “good news.” Your debt has been paid, the death penalty has been paid, you are free. Matthew 18:3 – Jesus said: “Unless you become like this little child you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.” This is how to be saved, it is simply child like, as simple as ABC: A – Admit that you are a sinner. This is where that godly sorrow leads to genuine repentance for sinning against a righteous God and there is a change of heart, we change our mind and God changes our hearts and regenerates us from the inside out. Romans 3:10 As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one.” Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (We are all born sinners which is why we must be born spiritually in order to enter the Kingdom of Heaven). Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  • That’s why I don’t use any flea products on my cats and dogs because they get sick. I use a nit comb on them all instead, ok, its tedious, but I prefer to do that than have them become sick. Even the stuff from the vet makes them sick, so a nit comb it is, slow but effective, and my fur kids don’t have fleas, and I deal with the ticks as they come along, I’m lucky where I live we don’t have a problem with ticks. Thank you for sharing. Cheers!

  • Bought FRONTLINE PLUS at pet co..service dog got horrible fleas in Florida and returned only to have the new vet give her oral one day. Comfortis? And BRAVECTO !!! IM IN SSDI WITH NO MONEY AND SO DISAPPOINTED!!! SHE NEEDS HEARTWORM TEST AND USED TI GET HELP. MEALS ON WHEELS HERE IS ONLY AFTER IM 60.. AT A LOSS WHAT TO DO NEXT.

  • My friends dog a chi had had seizures from the Hartz flea medicine thank God she got the dog to the vet in a hurry and they washed it off and they had to give her medicine for the seizures she is doing well now. I go to the vet with my dog part Chihuahua Min Pin she gets Bravtco every 3 months and no side effects.

  • Question for you of a situation. I have a buddy that has a press canario and he is suffering from seizures. It all started when they put him on trifexis… hope I spelled it correctly… the press was taken off the meds and still had seizures. Then he gave the dog to another buddy, he did same thing and took dog off flea meds. He has seen specialist and has him on meds for seizures. Also has the dog seeing an herbalist… so my question is is there other steps such as detoxing the dog or something. Before he was on meds he had fewer seizures, can you help with info if possible.

  • I wanted to ask a cat gave birth to kittens in my house and after few days we kept the kittens and the cat out side in a cat house . The cat took her kittens away .but she comes after some time for some food .but after few days the cat stayed with us and didn’t got away . But she now meowing more what does it mean???

  • Thank you!!! Just read a NYT article earlier today about a new EPA approval for a substance that helps with ticks. Nootkatone found in cedar and grapefruit I believe. I wonder if it will eventually be found in pet products as well as human. Anything safe that truly works would be wonderful for us and our pets.

  • I used Frontline on my cat and she went crazy poor girl. Washed it off as well and fast as I could. And my cat does not like getting wet as well but she kind a knew I was trying to help her. Never again toxic stuff but instead checking the fur for ticks every day as often as possible. It works well and then I burn the ticks so no one else gets hurt by them

  • I gave my cat capstar tablets every 2 to 3 weeks for a couple months and she developed “paraesthesia” type symptoms. Its strange. She’s never acted like this before. She finds a dark spot on the floor or wall as though it were a moving bug and she’ll stare at it, then her tail starts whipping around crazily and she’ll shake her head violently, all while still staring at the spot, until she finally takes off running for her life a few feet away and she whips her head around to her back end and starts chewing. Its like she’s getting overly excited and gets those tingling sensations as though something is biting her all over at once. She does this all the time, several times a day even after i quit giving her the nitenpyram/capstar months ago. Is this reversible?

  • Oh, what happened to Muuray? Did he get in a fight? One of my cats had extreme seizures once after given Activyl for cats (back then it was new on the market, still available and you guessed it seizures haven’t been reported – sure vomiting and the usual gastrointestinal side effects). A few hours later at 2 am he went stiff and his body jolted non stop. Living in a rural area and fearing that the spasm would effect his heart and breathing soon, I tried to get in touch with a veterinarian for a muscle relaxant. I truly feared that rinsing it off while he was having continued seizures would be too dangerous (as in I feared he would drown or collapse), so in the end he was given a nice bath at 6 am (thanks to the next veterinary clinic being an hour away). The good thing is that my vet stopped selling or recommend said medication and it appears to be gone for good (at least for now).

  • My beautiful border collie was obviously the runt of a litter so, being small, i was very determined not to give him anything questionable ( which i find a lot of pharmaceutical products are!) We tried all sorts of natrual products and spent a lot of money but each day he would love a little coconut oil and i picked up some citrus dog shampoo a while ago. At last, this seems to be the answer. Even though its been really warm here in the UK,so far he has been fine. I think for me,the answer has been, don’t expect answers overnight. Give a little time and just maybe …something might work.

  • Our white and light coloured pets are extra sensitive. This product almost killed my white, tan spotted, Braque St Germain. It was like he was having a heart attack, he was sick for weeks. NEVER use these types of products. There are many natural, safe things (such as cedarwood oil or diatomaceous earth) that work far better.

  • I hate that this happened, but I accidentally put DOG meds on my CAT. I can actually kill cats!! I didn’t know at the moment, but after a few hours she was shaking very badly. I looked at it and realized what I did. I washed her with dawn dish liquid and scrubed the area I applied it and luckily she did survive. She had a seizure later and I had her next to me all night till the trembling finally calmed down. Be extremely careful and never use something that isn’t for your specific pet. read it, look at reviews, use common knowledge, and if you can get ahold of a vet. I couldn’t at the time so it was just a waiting game and my furbaby could have died.

  • Thank you for sharing this article. A few months ago I bought an off brand of either Frontline or Advantage at Costco (Advantage is what I normally use for my cats). At the same time I opened a new bag of IAMS weight control formula cat food from Chewy which my cats do well on. Well within a few days they both lost their appetite and one started to seem lethargic. I tried to get in with a vet but due to COVID-19 I couldn’t get in anywhere. This was on a Friday. By Sunday, the cat who was lethargic smelled bad and was excessively drooling and blood was hemorrhaging from his mouth. I called the SPCA in desperation. They had me bring him in, and had to put him down. I was devastated perusal him suffer and not being able to get him in anywhere. 😩 I don’t know if it was the cat food or the knock off flea treatment. Needless to say, I threw them away. My other cat was nursed back to health with canned food and low sodium chicken broth. My other cat wouldn’t touch either. He had a heart murmur and stomach problems when I adopted him. I believe that’s why he didn’t make it. 😢 My cat that is well now, is back on her IAMS and doing well.

  • Why would anybody give the pet the pill and not the flea or tick. So let’s poison our pets to kill the bugs. Make sense. I never get them heart worm meds. You have to get the tested for the parasite first. Why pay for and subject your pet for that. So far in Jersey I haven’t needed it. It’s when animals are brought in from southern states for adoption that have it that you get problems. I all for adopting but watch out where they’re from. Stay safe and use common sense. Farmers know this kind of stuff. Love the show. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️❤️🖖🏻💪🏻🙀🐱🐶🐰🐺🐴

  • Never give your dog the chewable Nexguard. It killed our sweet dog after a month of battling the side effects. Read about the type of insecticide in those, as many of the prescription ones contain an ingredient that can cause severe neurological side effects, which is what happened to our baby. Research the ingredients thoroughly and don’t assume because it is a prescription from the vet that it is safe.

  • Hey I’m kinda having a emergency I fount this kitten it about 4 weeks old on the side of the road it was ate up with ticks so I gave it a tick bath it start fighting me and ingested some of the veterinarian formula shampoo that I got Walmart it’s been foaming out the mouth coffing sneezing what should I do please for the love god help me

  • I use 50/50 (150ml) acv and water with a few drops lemongrass essential oil. Put it bit on my hands rub it down their body then their head, behind ears and under chin. Once to twice a week. It’s a flea repellent and comb through to get the odd flea. Been doing this since March and hardly anything. Plus their coat is smooth and silky.

  • My cat died this morning. She had a nose injury five days ago. I took her to the vet. They checked her and gave her an injection (nimovet) and cefpodoxime (oral suspension). Her wounds healed but she started vomiting after two days. I observed her for a day. She became weaker at which point I decided to take her to the vet the next morning. But she went out and didn’t came back. Usually she comes back when I call her but she didn’t. I found her near our veranda yesterday evening. She was very weak. During the night her pee was yellow. Can anybody tell me what could possibly be the cause of her death.
