Sony has finally found the mascot they’ve been searching for 30 years, Astro Bot. Astro is perfect for the role and explores the world of A Link to the Past. The map in Echoes of Wisdom is similar to that of A Link to the Past, feeling like a sort of adventure. Captain Olimar and Pikmin represent Nintendo’s whimsical spin on the real-time strategy genre.
Sony never seemed to have an answer to Nintendo’s Mario or Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog. Crash Bandicoot was an iconic character that was exclusive to the GameCube in 2001. Mass Effect finally gets an RPG-style board game. Nintendo delivers the saddest news since Animal.
The extremely cute Echoes of Wisdom mostly succeeds in leaving us wanting more. Set once more in Hyrule, we start the game as Link, once more rescuing Zelda. The built-in gaming stand lets you prop and play your Nintendo Switch on-the-go. The officially licensed Travel Case Plus GLOW is the go-to gaming gear for storing and storing.
Mascots have been one of the dark spots on a game publisher’s marketing blitz. At first, there was only one iconic mascot, Mario from Super Mario Bros. Nintendo will launch its iconic character Mario on smartphones starting with a running game for the iPhone called Super Mario Run.
In 2002, people started wondering about the creation of Astro Bot, the new face of PlayStation consoles and star of a new game. Starting at $599, the Switch U is a revolutionary new system building upon the hybrid foundations of the Switch while reimagining gaming as we know it.

ModernWar👨🏿 aka TBH, I just watched this vid & clicked the wukong deep dive article you recommended to watch next & must say i like this new approach of breaking down history of games with their timeline. It helps understand gaming outside of just the gameplay but it’s history & can see ppl in thr comment section like it too. Make this a playlist or more of a thing
Yo, I think what your doing with articles on the rise and fall for topics that don’t have to be relevant currently is great (like ronnie 2k and NBA street) as you should put more of your priority into those types of articles becasue articles like the gamestop and the wukong are not going get as much viewshup due to you being on the clock to get articles out before they lose relevance as it takes a long time for you to write scripts for them and the drama could of happened 2 or 3 weeks ago and you could of missed the perfect opportunity to get the article out. For instance like the gamestop article that came out 3 weeks after situation was told to the public but i will say that your articles have been high quality and i think you will go far with this new method of yours.
Amazingly written article detailing the history of some major gaming moments. With how great the recent Ratchet and Clank games have been, I can only imagine what a new Sly Cooper or Jack and Dexter could be like. Imagine because they’ve been left to die lol. Hopefully, Astro Bot gives some inspiration to revive them.
this a banger! i remember my stocking having crash bandicoot 3 and playing it that day and falling in love with it. The first 2 crashs were skipped for whatever reason. lol and as far as sly cooper goes he was actually my faorite thing about ps2 era sly and jak! Ratchet was a big thing in my house too i played all the way up to deadlocked then lost intterest. Sly was slept on! I remember the first time i tried sly it was a perfect series to me. miss those fun games that werent too serious and had great gameplay
This may be kind of long but just want to try and help somehow. First, been a long time watcher, sometimes had to take a long break due to real life stuff. Second, have you thought about focusing on only your true supporters to help you grow, instead of quick fix viewers, to help you in the long run. Your true fan base can pitch in ideas, not just money. Have a stream or article talking to them about what to do and can be done. Telling them to do this and that. You’ve given back so much, so it isn’t wrong for others to finally give back to you. Those who truly support you will have zero issue being asked or told how to help you. That is the whole point of having those who genuinely support you. Most are stagnant because they focus on things that don’t matter, and don’t care about them, or simply just money. This will freeze you in place. You grow first then the money comes. The money earns you. That is why when you grow like a plant, the money then comes to you. Not the other way around. What i’m saying is bigger than money. True support will always be better than any amount of money. This can be applied to a ton of things. It takes not just you, but your true supporters to help grow a business. Knowledge, Wisdom and True Support will forever be better than any number of money… Just like how steve urkel focused and gave all his energy to a weak treacherous hoe that never cared, instead of one who did and could help uplift him and help him build. Money is the hoe for most, and that hoe has no power unless given it.
It’s actually not all that surprising that Sega would manufacture an arcade cabinet for a Nintendo game, if you know the history of the company back in the day. Nintendo was still relatively small back then, and Sega had been manufacturing arcade cabinets for a rather long time. It was only reasonable to seek them out.
I actually enjoyed your article And it is nice to see someone’s else’s view on the early games from Nintendo. His actual name Is jack and he is the Sheriff 😃 The damsel is Betty. And you shoot gangs in sheriff and bandits in bandido 😘 Bandido is a unofficial licence. And it does play very well but you have to play it to see. Thanks for sharing your vid I liked it 😎👍
Ah man, I’m really luvin this website, thanks to Guru Larry for the heads up, he can see your talent. I’m just on a article marathon atm, trying to like each one as I go, hope you don’t mind me chillin here for awhile? Anyway, hats off to you Sir, bloody brilliant articles & topics! Keep up the good work.
Wait, wait, WAIT. I came across your website courtesy of Larry and subscribed (I think) on the first article I saw. Everything I’ve seen has a very professional “feel” about it, both visual and audio – really well made and structured. Your voice doesn’t make me want to rip off my face, and well, double-fist me with a run-up (please, don’t) – you can pronounce “homage” right. Also I’ve come across a LOT of stuff I’ve never even seen/heard of before. I like coming across little gems like this on YouTube – why the bloody hell don’t you have 100 – 1000 x the subscribers?
A parody Sheriff arcade game is in the game Stardew Valley playable in the bar’s arcade area, complicated dual stick controls just like the original Sheriff game, but with updated graphics and a reskin as well as the enemies being able to get out at you. With powerups in it. I actually spent some time playing the Stardew Valley Version, and just like you said, dual stick controls of Sheriff is hard!
Imagine if Nintendo would have gotten the controls right the first time around and made this a proper Twin stick shooter, this game could have been a huge hit and Sheriff could have been the one to build the house of Nintendo instead of Mario. This could have drastically altered their direction, mind blowing if you think about it.
can you really justify tis character as a mascot? did he really carry the nintendo name or rather was he simply just the first non-blip character? I think I could respect this as being the first “hero” but i don’t think i would qualify Sheriff as a “mascot” A mascot represents the name of a company. When you think mascot, you think of something that is innately representative of said company.
Donkey Kong or Game & Watch? That’s my guess before perusal this guaranteed awesome old article. I was very wrong with your Sega Mascot question as I guessed either Opa Opa or Alex Kidd. I’m down and now I need a win…show me Game & Watch or Donkey Kong….(Edit) Damnit! I thought I had it with Game & Watch.
I mean go back further and you will find games made by Sega like Periscope from 1965. BEfore things began to be somehwhat digital, there were just electro mechanical. Pure machines. Namco originally produced the arcade game, but sega later improved upon and released it worldwide to wonderful reception, and it became the first 25 cent arcade machine in the United States of ‘Merica. Before that simple light projection shooter arcade cabinets with GORGEOUS wood construction and simple wiring had been around for the better part of the early 20th century, especially for slot machines and sultry penny article viewers. O>o
Sheriff was a character not a mascot; they’re not the same thing. A mascot is something that represents something (e.g., a company). Mickey is a mascot of Disney, Cinderella isn’t. The sheriff was merely a character in a Nintendo game, it didn’t represent the company. (I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume this wasn’t intended as click-bait.) Hmm, I just saw the comments and it seems others have had the same thought. 👍
Nope, I disagree, Just because it’s the first personified character from Nintendo doesn’t mean it was ever considered a mascot. Just a character, nothing more…. Its equal to saying Sega’s first official mascot was Frogger since it was the company’s first arcade board in ’81 and he carried a briefcase and had an apparent girlfriend in need of rescue. Or for that matter any developers first character being the torch barer of the company… Maybe just be tired and grumpy but definitely not a mascot since he had zero advertisement or anything of the sort. Back to my Frogger point, Frogger ad more advertisement than Sherrif and still wasn’t ever considered a mascot in any shape or form.
I really like your articles, but I am not sure that I would call this a “mascot”. A mascot for me is something that i company is using togheter with their marketing and also a product that they use over and over again. Something that the company wants you to associate with their brand. But again, nice article anyway!
It’s reeeeeeeally reaching to try and call Sheriff a mascot by any stretch of the imagination. The same would go for Mr. Game & Watch too, since the Game & Watch series did not reuse a single character for that series as you claimed. That series instead used different characters from game to game. Mr. Game & Watch was creation made specifically for Super Smash Bros. Melee– composite character to represent the series as a whole. He never existed as an individual character before that.
