In the TV series Good Omens, Crowley (David Tennant) is portrayed as a man with only one best friend, his Bentley. His car has a distinctive personalized license plate “Niat Ruc” with bullet holes in the window. The classic car in the show is a mashup of five real, constructed, and CGI versions of the vehicle. The scene where the car is set on fire and blows up was done for real with practical effects. Director Douglas Mackinnon said that there were many Bentleys, but Crowley’s imagination and personal bond with the car hold the car in place.
The Making of Good Omens book explains everything, and it is not true that David Tennant was put in a real flaming car. The Bentley was never burning while David was in it. The bookshop most definitely was. The Making of Good Omens book explains everything, and it is possible that David Tennant sensed that the car was bound to explode and that’s what drove him off.
Some of the scenes of Crowley driving the flaming Bentley were made possible by the car being really on fire and David Tennant really driving it. Neil Gaiman, Rob Wilkins, and David Tennant Bentley have all contributed to the success of the show, with some interviews and interviews at NADWCON 2017.
