Micro-Magic, a line of frozen foods that appeared in the late 80s and early 90s, was a popular choice among Gen X latchkey kids. The company introduced burgers and fries to their customers, who begged for them every time they went to the store. The nostalgia community has 1.3 million subscribers, and the food was good, except for JELL-O Pudding Pops and Microwavable Milkshakes.
Popsicle Micro Pops were one of the wackiest frozen treats from the ’90s, with flavors like strawberry, lemon, and blue. MicroMagic products first appeared in the frozen food section of stores in the 1980s, including hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken, and Micro Magic French Fries. These fries were made to be microwaved and claimed to come out “golden brown” and have an easy-to-eat texture.
Otsuka Foods will release Micro Magic French Fries: Salty in 2020, offering a larger size for one person to enjoy. Micro Magic also made microwaveable milkshakes, cups of ice cream designed to melt. The company’s new company, Luigino’s, would eventually become known as Michelina’s.
Micro Magic French Fries were made with Hokkaido potatoes and are now available in stores across Japan for about 85 cents. The promise of crispy golden fries in two minutes was made by MicroMagic, a line of frozen foods that appeared in the late 80s.
