The Moon, the second most important planet in a person’s birth chart, is considered by Hindu Vedic astrologers as a powerful symbol of inner satisfaction and emotional responses to the world around them. The Moon Chart, also known as the Chandra Lagna or Chandra Kundali, is a unique tool used in Vedic Astrology for gaining deeper insights into an individual’s emotional and psychological makeup.
In Vedic astrology, the Moon represents the mind, emotions, and subconscious. It is worshiped by Hindus as “Soma” or “Chandra” and is one of the Navagrahas. The Vedic sign dates are Aries: Mesha (April 13–May 14), Taurus: Vrishaba (May 15–June 14), Gemini: Mithuna (June 15–July 14), and Cancer: Cancer.
A moon chart is similar to a birth chart, but the position of the moon and planets is shifted. This allows for an emotional perspective on planetary placement. The Moon Chart assesses the Sade Sati of Shani (Saturn) (seven and a half years) and affects how we feel, such as womb, skin, depression, and more.
A strong Moon in the birth chart significantly elevates the quality of life and is a strong symbol of fertility, as it represents the monthly cycle in women and is an omen for abundant creativity. In Vedic Astrology, the Chandra Kundali (Moon Chart) is given as much importance as a Lagn Kundali (Birth Chart). Great sages have even suggested that a prediction can be made through the Moon’s placement in the chart.
In conclusion, the Moon Chart in Vedic astrology is a valuable tool for understanding an individual’s emotional and psychological makeup. By understanding its characteristics, role in predictive astrology, and remedies for challenging moon placements, one can gain a deeper understanding of their character and potential challenges.

How to find your moon in astrology?
The moon, a celestial body that moves 13. 5 degrees per day, is the fastest to change sign to sign in astrology. It spends two to three days in each sign, so it’s essential to look at your chart or use an online moon sign calculator to determine your birth date. The lunar return, where the moon spends time in the exact spot it was at the time of birth, is a month-long period where you can track your emotions and experiences.
Once you identify your natal moon, you may identify with basic traits depending on which of the 12 signs it fell in at the time of your birth. The degrees of your moon sign can further influence its expression. If your moon occurs at 0 degrees, you may feel curious and eager to learn about your moon sign’s characteristics. If it falls in the middle degrees (14 to 16 degrees), you’ll feel deeply connected to the moon sign’s vibe and purpose. If it’s in the final degree (29 degrees), you might feel like a seasoned veteran in harnessing the strengths and weaknesses of your moon sign.
In summary, understanding your moon sign is crucial for predicting your future emotions and experiences.
What is the full moon in Vedic chart?
In Vedic Astrology, the full moon is the most vibrant and luminescent energy of the lunar cycle, affecting the mind and emotions of the zodiac sign Cancer. The moon, a feminine gender, is the ruler of Cancer and spends approximately 2 1/2 days in each sign and 28 days to circumnavigate the zodiac. The positivity moon manifests qualities such as sympathy, memory, joy, enthusiasm, peace of mind, care, receptivity, and patience, while the negativity moon manifests mood swings, worry, tensions, depressions, suicidal tendencies, and emotional instability.
The lunar cycles are crucial for magical workings, with most occult rituals being created and performed during the full moon period in constellation. Tantric rituals, meditations, psychic development, dreams, and divination are particularly related to the phases of the moon. The stock market average returns are higher during periods closest to the full moon.
Our physical body has two types of energies: prana and mind or consciousness. The lunar energy enters the pineal gland, controlling activities from night until we wake up. During the full moon, meditative rituals help transcend the mind and reach full divinity within.
How do I strengthen my moon chart?
In astrology, the moon represents our unconscious and deepest needs. A strong moon can lead to better social skills and easier decision-making, especially about big life changes. To strengthen a weak moon, daily meditation, yoga, mantra repetition, donating or volunteering, conserving water, wearing silver, gemstones, and obeying one’s mother can help.
To meditate, sit down for at least 10 minutes daily, clear your head of thoughts, focus on breathing, and connect with your inner self. The more you meditate, the stronger your moon and spiritual connection. If a full moon is near, try meditating at night to connect with the moon more and enhance your experience.
What does it mean if my chart is ruled by the moon?
Cancer Rising is a sign of high emotions and a sensitive personality, often portrayed as kind and caring. The moon, as a chart ruler, indicates a life path that prioritizes seeking comfort and avoiding feelings of insecurity. The moon is associated with motherhood and is considered the mother of the universe. It gives an intuitive and creative personality, and may receive formative lessons and guidance from women and maternal figures. What is your moon chart?
The placement of a moon sign in a birth chart can reveal an individual’s emotional processing, desire for nurturing, and comfort. It can also reveal how the moon sign handles stress in relationships. Understanding one’s moon sign and others can help create emotional harmony and a sense of closeness.
Aries moon individuals are known for their openness and ability to express themselves freely. They are prone to anger and outbursts and need freedom in their daily lives. They are self-sufficient, competitive, and innovative, often leaving home early or knowing their goals from a young age. They thrive when they can rely on themselves and remove themselves from environments where they need to answer to others. How to use a moon chart?
Astrology plays a significant role in a person’s natal chart, governing emotions and inner landscape. Each full moon and new moon exerts its own influence, with the moon’s force being particularly immediate due to its influence on tides and our water body. Moon mapping involves aligning life and efforts with the moon’s phases, such as new moon, waxing quarter moon, and waning gibbous moon. 📹 Secrets of the Moon Chart! (Chandra Lagna) in Vedic Astrology
Secrets of the Moon Chart! (Chandra Lagna) in Vedic Astrology How to read your chart from the Moon or Chandra Lagna. One of …
Hi everyone, Quite a few of you are asking – I should’ve made it clear that this chart is read in exactly the same way as every other chart in regard to aspects rulerships etc..! The techniques I gave are specific extras. . Eg Empress Alexandria in Moon Chart Saturn’s aspects(3, 7, 10) .,destroy 10th, status, second family wealth, and fifth children (only son and heir with incurable disease} Prince Harry, aspects of Saturn destroy relationship with father, education, foreign land issues and religious concerns, as well as mother ..(aspect of Saturn on Moon 4th house Lord, and full 10th aspect on 4th house of mother. Also for Harry Mars in Moon chart 8th house has 4th aspect on 11th..house of elder sibling, giving great contention and difficulty there.
Thank you a lot, Gina! Your knowledge about astrology is amazing! I wish you have a fortune about it in your life! Just the day before I saw your article, I realised that in my life, I have not got a lot support from people in my life. I mean emotional support. I do have had financial support when I just do as other people (my parents) want. Oh yes, they support me when they want something from me, but not in my endeavours. Not only my parents but the most people I meet, act this way. Then I feel completelly alone. For example, I have kept my astrology-studies as a secret. I think rare people in my life know that I know anything about it and why? Because I know their opinion about it. Now, you show me the Moon Lagna and indeed: the 12th house is empty. Empty empty – and that is how I really FEEL about the emotional support in my life. It is an empty space! It is anazing how I FEEL so clearly these things you explain! In some way I got consolation about the fact that the queennElisabeth is alone as well. As a matter of fact, it is not even a bad thing after all. It only means that I do not NEED validation from other people to make my decisions and go on. And yes: I am a woman who do not ask my friends what kind of clothes I should buy etc. I go shopping alone. I make all my decisions alone. Yesterday, before I got your article, I thought that I’d like, once in my lifetime, meet supportive friends. After listening to your article, I thought that maybe it is better to know that I am at my best independently.
Wow that can Explain why my Natal chart is not super bad😊 Leo moon opposite 7H venus Jupiter mercury, 8H sun, 10H Mars Ketu 11H Shani 😊 Other wise my Lagna is in Pieces and moon in D 1 in 6 H With other 3 Benifics in 12H Minimalist Traveling for life With all sorts of jobs beetween 3 homes to come in to With all sorts of relationships 😅
I am so grateful and in awe of your adeptness for Jyotisha, Gina Guru and love your joy for it 🙂 Please can someone be kind enough to help me understand what is meant by “if you have no planets in the 8th house, then look to the Lord of the 8th house (which is Mars, no?) and the placement (placement of what sorry, Mars?) from the Moon and the Lagna (houses?) also (so is that as in, the placement of Mars from the Houses where the Moon and Lagna are?” Many thanks and blessings to all learning jyotisha for the greater good 🙂 xx
Amazing! I was contemplating this the other day, how interesting abort the 12th and 2nd house being the support to the moon, often what you read on the internet states something far more sinister haha. I have one question Gina, when checking for transits can you combine the reading from the moon and the rising or do they have to be read separately?
Could you pls make a article about indications of (favourable) foreign residense in a chart (any chart, or in all of them :)) in more details, with examples? Is there any way to tell by looking at a chart, which DIRECTION (cities, regions, countries etc.) of foreign residense (or maybe a residence in a different region of the same country) is most favorable for a person?
# Moon in Gemini (Punarvasu Nakshatra); # Ketu is in the 3rd house from the Moon; # Saturn is in the 7th house from the Moon; # Rahu, Mercury, Venus are in 9th house from the Moon; # Sun is in 10th house from the Moon; # Jupiter and Mars are in the 12th house from the Moon. Chandra Lagna and Arudha Lagna are the same.
Very interesting, I have Rahu, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn in 12th from moon. I always thought this position was very problematic. But actually seems only Rahu being cruel here. Such relief, even dough I know other astrologers say that planets in 12th from Moon make your mind do not perceive the fruits given by those planets. Not sure but sounds more correct what Gina says. 12th house in Chandra chart shouldn’t be the same of the 12th from Lagna…
I have a question about 22:00 where you talk about the Lord of 10th from Moon (which is Jupiter for me) ending up in 8th or 12th houses in D1 chart, signifying that career abroad is more feasible than where I was born. It rings absolutely the opposite for me, since I just moved back home from abroad. I lived abroad for 20 years and I accumulated debt and no livelihood. My career has been impeded and almost destroyed. I returned to my place of birth almost a year ago and am doing much better and able to earn a living and continue with my career. Is there somethig I’m missing in this signification? My 10th Lord is in the 12th house.
I have a few questions. 1. What if someone wants to develop himself spiritually? Shall one go by the Surya Lagna then? 2. Can Chandra Lagna system be used in the same way for a re-constructed D-60 chart ? It cannot be applied to Navamsa in the same way, right? Or it can ? Personality and trine houses, marriage and support indications, specially? Or will it be just overcomplicating matters? 3. In Princess Alexandra’s chart, Ketu was in 7th house, is there any possibility Rasputin signified 7 house significations in her life? I am more interested, becuase Ketu is in my 8th. do the house significations come into play here/ 4. In chart of married couples, especially in my mom’s and dad’s, the Chandra Lagna charts are very similar. (Both have moon in 12th house). Is it very common in all married couple charts? or a rare incident? 5. 5th house aka children, 12th house aka loss, are these significations still valid in Chandra Lagna chart? If so, why 12th from moon is support? And by any way, can 5th house show the potential relationship and karma with children? If so, is the 6th resources from children ? 6. If Sun is in 12th house from moon, shall we take Sun as having no influence, or just no support, or having malefic influence? I am interested, because a 12th sun from moon, is a 2nd moon from SuryaLagna. In such cases, Moon is supporting spiritual developement? Do the D-1 house position matter(ie my Sun 12 th from moon in 9th house D1)? Would it be different, if my Sun was in d-1 8th house, or in a different rashi?
Dear mentor, actually all four royals are connected, Tsarina Alexandra is most beloved granddaughter of Queen Victoria, who also inherited famous British monarchy hemophilia disease…she and King George may 2nd or third cousins… and if possible I really want to see Rasputin’s vedic birth chart, guess his 8th house must strong, also Mars and Venus must be in good position like 9th and 5th house lords, forms kinda saraswati yoga!!!!!!
Hallo Gina, I’m new here on your website and also new to studying vedic astrology. I have a doubt regarding the best ayanamsa to analyze these placements, because in the Galactic Center 0⁰ of Sagittarius my moon is in the 12th house, but if I use the Lahiri it jumps to the 1st house. Which ayanamsa, in your opinion, would be the most suitable for this analysis? And thank you so much for your articles, they are very valuable 🤍
About lors of houses: What if it`s kind of the opposite (all in the D1): the 12th house Lord (the Moon) is in the 8th, and another 12th house Lord is in the 10th house (retro Venus, exalted, vargottama), – can it indicate foreign residence and/or foreign partner at some point, or does it mean smth else? Thanks in advance.
Hi G, this is enlightening. I’ve Mars & Mercury in 10H cap moon chart. Are they both malefic? they square moon in aries, square shani 4H cancer from moon & square rahu & uranus 7H libra at exact 90° angles (forming grand square). are they all malefic & is there any remedy to all the obstacles plz? finding work is a problem.
Gina, I’m learning a lot. I’m from Brazil, and struggling to understand because my English (language) is not good. But look, I wanted to say that I have a tremendous concern about my career today. I am 35 years old, I was born May 7, 1986 at 18:05. Only these days, I started to have this concern, I have Saturn retrograde in scorpio, he rules my 10 and 11 of the candra lagna, this is in the 1st square of my d1. My Mars dasha will start in the next year 2022/2023, and now here I am studying hard to take exams for a police position in the government. And after having found my vocation, I feel like going until I am completely satisfied, as I crave even a higher position. Just as I learned in your articles, I saw this on my map. what is left now is to be able to take office in the first position in the government police. I feel like I was born for this! Incredible, because until 30/34 I had never thought about it. I was lost qnt the career I should pursue. you can help me? I’m afraid this retrograde saturn will harm me more, will my mars give me this support in my career?
Hi 👋 If you could explain what you said from 21:30 of this article, youtu.be/vEt3QIfeTAk You said if the Lord of 10th house goes into 12th or eighth house in D1, you maybe better off working in foreign land. I have a question: Do you count this from this Lord of 10th place? Or do you mean if this Lord itself is sitting in 12th or 8th in D1?
My 10th from the moon is in Libra. Venus in my D1 is in the 9th house. What it is my destiny? I am interested in cultures and foreign languages but also arts. I am an arvhitect and work as an urban planner. It is tooheavy. I do itonly because my parents wanted. I have no feling to do itbutit hasbeen difficult to change. I am dead tired and stressed because of it. Every day feels as a waste of my lifetime. By the same token I could die. All 57 years of my life are useless. Life is a huge disappointment. It is logical that Ketu isin the 11th from the Moon: it is difficult to feel rich when your heart is not in coherence with the mind. My heart is not on my job, never been. So, it means financial loss.
Can someone Please explain why the houses are switched around? I understand why the planets changed houses due to the moon being placed in the 1st house to create the chart. Then I counted how many houses the moon changed and moved all my planets around. But why are the houses different in the example charts? Look at all the examples and see that the houses are different in all of them. I want to do my moon chart properly, and I’m so confused. Any help is appreciated😊😊
Greetings! Just a little help on the career explanation..my moon chart is pisces ..so moon and Mars will be in the asc..so, my 10 house lord in Rashi chart went into the 12 house in the moon chart ..in my 10 house in moon cart I have mercury in Sagittarius..the lord of the Sagittarius went in the 11 house of the moon chart.. the lord of the 10th house in moon cart went into 6 house in Rashi chart ..question is, what will be the best direction for career? Gratitude mam.. 🙏 ..
Sorry, Gina, but the case of Nicholas2’s family is full of political preferences. Do you know that he asked GeorgV for asylum and was refused? While the communists abstained and resisted the idea of killing the tsar&family as the latter had to face the nation’s court first and foremost. Who longed for the bloodshed were the gang of Trotsky (one of them, Goloschiokin Shaya, in early 1930s did organised the genocide of kazak nomads by millions). Secondly, the international genetic investigation (other than that of Eltsyn regime) established that remains of the bodies belong to alter-idem individuals. There are a mass of inconsistent facts from the alleged murder place. So the Eltsyn regime had demolished the house completely. Well, the trick worked out as you did choose this controversial material to illustrate your method.
