In the Pureland Buddhist teaching, Venerable Master Qing Kong explained Buddha Shakyamuni’s teaching, that all sentients beings are Buddhas, and we all possess extraordinary paranormal abilities beyond our imagination. Due to our misperceptions and thoughts, we lost these abilities. Hence, when one cultivates with clear, correct, and pure intention, one can even sense or have the visions of future events. How far the future one can see, how many times, and how long the vision remains, depend on one’s skill/depth of cultivation. Only people with good intention to help other sentient beings will achieve such abilities. Those with evil or ill intention will achieve nothing. Like what the Christians believe in, be careful of what one wishes for. The devils are always listening and looking out for people with evil thoughts.
I had sometimes suspected, many years ago, after reading the short novel Lost Horizon about the fictional Shangri-la written by British author James Hilton (first published in 1933 when overwhelmingly most of the Indian subcontinent was still under British rule) that there was some basis in fact to Hilton’s story about Shangri-la and that Hilton knew more or had somehow learnt more or had heard of more than he was letting on or disclosing in his novel.

A full size statue of enlightened master Sri Chinmoy was installed in Nepal 2 years before the massive earthquakes in 2015. After the quakes and countless aftershocks, his disciples went to check on the statue to see if it is damaged. These are highly evolved souls who had been Dakas (male Buddhist Angelic Beings) or Dakinis (female Buddhist Angelic Beings) in previous lifes or were long time meditators. It is true, I witnessed an American citizen who became a Buddhist monk. He visited my sangha and told a story of a Lama known to him who could trespass walls, levitate and fly. I believe him. During my younger days in my 20’s I was fond of doing meditation. I did that on and off for seven years. Then one night while deep in meditation so deep that I cannot feel my legs and my body. I was sitting in half-lotus position. Only part I realized is neck upward. The breathing became so slow sometime as if not breathing at all. Then I felt some pressure building up in my head. It come and go rhythmically then suddenly a flash of bright white light appeared and flooded up the whole head. It was really a pleasant feeling that i do not wish to let it go. I took note of the feeling and then slowly let it go. I was sitting almost two hours. Till today 40 over years later every time I close my eyes and take a few breaths I can feel a wave rush up to the head.

When I was young in my teens I believed I could cover mountains and valleys almost at will ! Something always kept me from proving it to myself . That is except for one time, I covered maybe 20 miles in the space of a morning . I was extremely tired when finished . However I never forgot my brother telling me about a friend who was able to climb Denali to the top and back in about 18 hrs !
Thank you for sharing this great info! I first learned about such things in the book you mentioned in the article and was amazed. Similar events are described in the autobiographical accounts by Tuesday Lobsang Rampa, who details his upbringing in a Tibetan lamasery and subsequent life of service. I am curious, though, as to why you describe these events as occurring because of being partly in a parallel reality. Is that the explanation these people provided? Why is another reality necessary, as opposed to simply connecting with the fundamental reality of no-space-no-time where anything is possible?
I’m always open to believe the fantastic. In this article words are well constructed and composed but seeing and viewing the skills of the paranormal abilities of some of these monks that are said to have would certainly help to negate any doubt. Every traditional knowledge in Tibet and even China, Korea, Japan, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, comes from India. There are such spiritual giants in every city of India but they don’t care to reveal themselves or their abilities to the general public who are not ready to see them. It is not good karma to focus on these powers as they are not for earning money but for furthering one’s own liberation.
First of all, body temperature control is simple (to a certain extent). You don’t even have to practice the Tibetan way of Tumoo. There are two ways I know of to change the body temp by a few degrees. 1) Ask your body to do it, to increase or decrease its temperature. 2) Imagine being in a cooler or warmer location. Out in the sun, a hot tub, sauna, cool pool, outside in the snow etc. And allow the sensations of being in those locations to happen on /in your body. Both methods require you to be open to the potential of the body temperature changing. Look at it as an experiment. Second of all, there is utterly no proof of any of these other things. There is however more and more evidence that ALL of the more “supernatural” stuff is myth.. And always has been. This evidence is even coming out of these traditions that have been talking about the abilities! At same time, there are people pushing that these powers exist even harder… And they are charging A LOT OF MONEY to people who want to learn. The #1 rule with anything REALLY spiritual is that the teaching is ALWAYS free. And I mean always! Sure, you can offer money after a lesson or whatever. But, there should NEVER be any pressure to give money. If the teacher is any good, they will not be in need of money because people will give freely as they see how much whatever was taught helps them.

I was in Tibet back in the early 1900s. During my journey, I came across a nomad monk that was able to talk, walk, and breathe. I was astonished that he had these abilities. We sat together next to a campfire, he told me stories of others like him that had his abilities. After our meal, he stands up and pats his stomach. The fart he squeezed out his cheeks was a force to be reckoned with. It is now 2023, I am still 21 and I am still in utter disbelief how any human can have such power come out of a small orifice.

It‘s true that in Tibet, there are thousands of these stories and up to now there are people alive who have demonstrated supernatural power. I know dozens of people who know someone who have witnessed these miraculous power. Ancient Tibet has much more than what you‘ve told in this short article. Nobody would believe it. We in the West believe only in things which are physical and approved by science. People here still looking for UAP, but in ancient Tibet, we Tibetans used to trade with aliens. And up to know there are lots of stuffs from unknown material. But the western countries have to find everything by themselves, while in our history, we already had planes and cars, surgeries hundreds of yra ago. Very funny! Since everyone is looking towards West, most of the knowledges have been lost.
The greatest strength is the strength of the mind to overcome the obstacles of living in a dangerous toxic world spiraling out of control on a path toward oblivion. Physical displays of unusual strength, etc., while sequestered in peaceful Buddhist villages pales in comparison to if this sequestered monk came down off their mountain escapes and embrace benevolence and show the courage to place themselves in the ghettos of the world and beg for alms to feed the poor—not themselves. This is real power. Real paranormal gifts. Fearlessness. Not escapism into mountain temples.
Unfortunately Tibet has been taken over by China and has lost much of its important hierarchy. They are now scattered in many countries and believe someday to return home. Many western cultures are now privileged to experience their spiritual contributions and enlightenment obtained after many centuries of development in isolation from material distractions. An older monk and his protege parted ways. The younger monk going deep into the mountains to develop siddhi’s. Twenty years passed and they met again on a pilgrimage route. They soon came to a broad river, and the older monk paid two cents for the ferryman to take him across. The younger monk, eager to show off his supernatural attainment, walked across the river to the astonishment of the ferryman. When the older monk reached the other shore the younger monk asked him why did he not use his own siddhi’s to also walk across the water. To which the older monk replied; And why did you spend twenty years in the mountains just to save two cents? (Paranormal powers just make more karma.)

The thing is, all these spiritual gifts are latent within everyone. All you have to do is develop them. But if you do it for power, rather than as a byproduct of devotion and pure practice, they won’t come. And if they do, they will be your destruction, not your gift. Humility and modesty, simplicity and renunciation, truth and self-abnegation, equanimity and love must be the forerunners of attainment or disaster will follow. Appearing in two places at once is called bi-location and many Christian saints have also attained this ability based on great devotion, moral purity, and humility.
The Buddhist and Hindu position on siddhis (paranormal abilities) is interesting. They are not considered a good indication of enlightenment on the one hand, as you can obtain advanced siddhis through deep concentration but you don’t need insight. So you can have powerful siddhis and yet be an unenlightened douchebag. Yet on the other, some of them are considered to reveal the master’s depth of insight into emptiness and therefore their level of realization. And some have tremendous, what we view as a superhuman ability to maintain equanimity in the face of staggering physical pain, and refuse morphine etc. I heard of one who would fall ill nearly to the brink of death, then suddenly reverse all his symptoms and return to a state of wellness again, many times over. I have heard many such stories. So I’m kind of confused as to the Buddhist stance.
Powers are to be avoided at all costs. Power is addictive! Once tasted, even slightly, they are nearly impossible to escape. Ever. (The “dark” side, Luke) Beyond powers is bliss. Eternal bliss. Desire and judgment, these are the enemy. Surrender and obedience, these are vehicles toward the blissful state.
Most of the people here would not like what I am about to say. Although I agree that paranormal abilities like these and many more exist and have existed from the time immemorial, they are strictly not for public display and show off. Moreover, they must not be aspired for, in the first place. The goal should be set much higher than these abilities, as they are a mere distraction in the path to truth. Many Indian monks like swami Vivekananda and swami Yogananda have possessed these abilities and have not even once shown a hint of them existing in public. It was because they were aimed for much higher purposes and the eight Siddhis were nothing for them. The one who transcends all of this is the one that can reach the peak, and that is what one’s aim must be.
There is no external deity coming in. What appears to be a deity comes out of you. It is within you. Masters, a guru, knows how to awaken what is already inside you. These things are real. I have witnessed them here in the West. There are still very great Lamas. You should see HH Sakya Trizin Rinpoche while he is still here on Earth, and of course, see the HH Dalai Lama at least once in your life. It is hard to be a practitioner and not get results. Never give up. Practice from the heart. The effects are inevitable. Sincerely chant Om Ma Ni Pad Me Hum and the path will open.

I haven’t seen overt paranormal things happen, but I’ve had a lot of “close calls” in life; some of which were so close, that many might say “guardian Angel,” or something similar. The world is more interesting imho if we have Fox Moulder’s “I want to believe” inside our brains. Unfortunately, I have some experience with liars & untrue true beliefs (in the West). At those mountains heights, I know, if you adquire a godly meditation at all times and a have clear mind, also clean heart and hands, with and thru GOD and the entire universe, one will have these and better abilities like walk on water, live in the invisible, live hundred of years or simply NEVER DIE, I guaranty you, that these people’s ancestry had more abilities (some of them I know are still around), like disappearing in space and protecting good humans around the world as their guardian angels who are on their way to realize their potential to GOD.
Sometimes the simplest answers or simplest actions provide a positive and tangible result. And speaking of the so-called miracles, all you need to do is open your eyes in the morning, hear the birds singing, smell the flowers, see the glow of the rising sun against the blue sky and feel the morning taste of fresh bread with butter and freshly brewed coffee or aromatic tea. And then you will go for a walk in the forest or in the mountains with someone close to you, walking along a babbling stream. Isn’t Life a miracle enough? It’s up to us how we survive it🏞️🙏
When you read the original Buddhist scriptures, or speak with a teacher who knows what the Lord Buddha taught, you will find the the Lord Buddha forbid monks to perform any such displays of ‘supernatural’ powers,. It is not that the monks are not allowed to use powers they may have, but they are not allowed to display them publicly or even mention that they possess such skills. This is not a critique to the monks mentioned in your documentary, I am just saying that we should not be focusing on the ‘supernatural’ powers, as apparently they are the ‘side-effects’ of genuine practice, and not the goal.
Mr. Y Talks: What does this mystery speaker show? Who are the researchers? Why is there never proof of these things? Why do the Tibetan masters insist that nobody share any of the knowledge they impart to their followers? Why do they make people think that a person must be serious or attend extended retreats? Who is trying harder, the “Master” or the person trying to learn? Who makes the greatest sacrifice? And again, Why are these supposed wonderful states of consciousness not easily accessible to all who are interested?
I believe through focussed attention on a single object for an extended period of time we can develop innate abilities within ourselves. The problem in the West is our senses are continuously bombarded by stimuli which limits our ability to develop these abilities. We are brought up to crave instant gratification so never develop these abilities. I’m older and hopefully wiser now and have met many charlatans over the years from East and West that make absurd claims of extrasensory abilities but the only ability they all have in common is the ability to manipulate their fellow man. BUYER BEWARE.

I just finished reading the life of Milarepa who is considered an “ascended” Buddhist who committed suicide at the age of 84. He admits in his life that he practiced “Black Magic”; they also believe in having the ability to save oneself and project their bodies into “animals” and like you said shape shift. As a born again Christian, God, our Creator God specifically condemns the use of magic and the use of magic and suicide and also “self saving of their sins” by self immolation and starvation. Buddhism sounds demonic, in my opinion: THE WAY THE TRUTH AN|D THE LIFE IS THROUGH JESUS CHRIST: From the BIBLE. NEW AND OLD TESTAMENT. Jesus answers him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’” This scripture comes from Deuteronomy 6:16. Finally, in Matthew 4:8-10 and Luke 4:5-8, the Devil takes Jesus to the top of a high mountain where he can see all the kingdoms of the world. He tempts Jesus to turn from worshiping God by saying to him, “All this I will give you, if you will bow down and worship me.” The reply of Jesus was, “Away from me Satan, for it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’” Jesus once again used scripture from the book of Deuteronomy, in this case Deuteronomy 6:13.
At there end of I think it was Seven Years in Tibet or was it The Cup there was a bit of what probably was Tibetan cultural wisdom that because we cannot make the world is hard and rocky we wear shoes. I think the lesson was that we must make ourselves deal with a world that it hard. When people claim someone flies for boils water with fire coming from their mouth they are claiming fantasy. They are not dealing with the real world.

In Catholic Christian there are many Saints who levitate when praying in the monasteries and churches. Just like the Buddhist monks who go to Deep trance then to Parallel space when they are saying A mantra in Catholic Christian faith this is called Latin Prayer. Latin is the official language of the Catholic religion. It was studied and researched that it was derived from an Ancient Angelic Language of the PreFlood era of Noah of 5000BC where there is only one language during that time and God communicated to His Children and Angels by this language and that language has been subsequently lost after God struck down the Tower of Babel Built by the peoples during the time of King Nimrod God gave these different groups of peoples different languages so that they cannot communicate properly and cannot build the Tower of Babel the sign of their Great Pride that they want to reach Heaven and be like God themselves. This is why we have different languages on the four corners of the Earth k!
This is where Christianity copied all their ideas from. I also heard about it in ancient China, a Tao practitioner was lifted into the skies and disappear among the clouds and this incidence was recorded in about 70 chinese articles. So maybe those kung fu master who can leap high into the trees and moved in the air is real because these people also spent a lot of time in meditation.
These paranormal abilities have nothing to do with normal life of today and former times in Tibet and elsewhere Or is anyone able to do the practices that you must master until you get these abilities. Such as dark practice, where you have to stay in a cave not for days but for months, even years, practices where you are not allowed to move even a little bit, like Milarepa? Tummo practice, where you have to stay in a wet tovel at minus 20 degrees Celsius to produce your own heat? They exist but not for us.
I believe one can have these powers. I left the Christian faith because of all their claims of power and faith to do great thing and never seeing it. Jesus said to Peter as he supposedly walked on water briefly. ‘Oh thee of little faith…’ Do they speak of faith of the story or the faith of the reality of the story, which they themselves can’t exhibit and demonstrate. I believe in reincarnation and near death experiences. No longer the Christian experiences.
These are YOGIC TECHNIQUES and NOT BUDDHIST ones. Someone once asked the Buddha why he didn’t walk on water. He smiled and said that for pennies he could get a boatman to take him across the Ganges so he wasn’t interested in developing Yogic techniques! 😂😂😂 No, the Buddha had said countless times that he was only interested in helping people get over the Dukkha, (sadness, misery) that they often develop and nothing else.
China Should Vacate Tibet. Just Because Tibet has no defence forces, it cannot be occupied by a rogue country like China. There are other countries like Vatican and Switzerland without defence forces. Are they any time encroached and occupied by any rogue country like China ? WHY the World countries are not responding against aggressive rogue country ?
