What Is Said About Magic Mushrooms In The Bible?

The Bible has been a subject of debate, with some suggesting that Jesus was a psychoactive mushroom. The “mushroom Jesus” theory suggests a cosmically improbable, historically unique, and scientifically inexplicable string of psychotic episodes, which convinced thousands of otherwise normal people. However, the Bible does not directly mention psychedelics, but it condemns sorcery and warns against drunkenness. Most Christians believe that the Bible does not specifically address drug abuse, such as cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, and meth.

Psychedelics like psilocybin and MDMA are experiencing a cultural shift as they move from taboo to enrichment. The current psychedelic renaissance intersects with Christian practices in two key ways: as psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAT) becomes more common, and as psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAT) becomes more common, people who had mystic experiences while taking the mushrooms were more likely to show increases in a personality trait dubbed openness.

Neurologist William Struthers encourages wisdom as a flurry of drugs move from taboo to enrichment. However, the Bible does not directly address any form of illicit drug use, and one would have to use the general laws surrounding what is, in modern terms, kosher, to decide this. Advocates of drug use argue that it would be wrong to reject God’s glorious creation of marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms.

In conclusion, the Bible does not directly address the use of magic mushrooms or drug abuse, but it does condemn sorcery and warn against drunkenness. As the psychedelic renaissance continues, it is important to consider the biblical perspective on the use of these substances and their potential implications for Christian practices.

  • This is a topic that has been weighing heavily on my mind. As a lifelong Christian who, in my younger years, have taken to parties, specifically psytrance and the world of psychedelics such as LSD, Psilocybin, and Marijuana. I can attest to the earlier trips being extremely euphoric, happy and ‘addictive’ in the sense that it was always an enjoyable experience. However as the years rolled by, my 2 or 3 trips a year, eventually left me extremely uncomfortable, because during my trips I kept being confronted by the fact that… this is not what a God fearing Christian should be doing. Parties are not where I should find myself. The people are wonderful, down to earth, good vibes and many happy & freeing experiences were had. But in those moments, I couldn’t help but think that if God comes tonight, in all His glory, and I’m living in the way of the world, being no different from what we would describe as Babylon… I can honestly and regrettably say that Heaven is not the place that I would end up. I had an extremely intense awakening to the state of my life this New Years eve, and as you said, there are positive aspects and experiences to be had during such trips. I have made the resolution to never take such substances again. I have had my fun, but in the end, eternal life with my Creator and Savior is worth so so much more than the temporary pleasures of this short life on Earth. Thank you so much for this article, as this topic is simply something that I do not find to be discussed very often.

  • Mushrooms and DMT turned me from a “half-Christian” with heavy doubt in God to a devoted lover of God and Christ. Your intentions are what matters. These aren’t man-made “potions”, they’re naturally occuring plants and fungi that God himself created. This is a very complex subject, but my entire life and the lives of several of my family members have been dramatically chaged for the better because mushrooms pushed us closer to God. Please don’t fear monger about something without a real understanding of the topic at hand.

  • As a youthful atheist, I encountered the real meaning of Christ, 45 years ago, using LSD and mushrooms. I am eternally grateful. What I found out is that Jesus is not ‘religious’ but is the foundation of consciousness. We call it…..whatever…. it’s the same consciousness. It can have a name and a body or it can be nameless and without form. It’s only true nature is kindness, or loving kindness, or say the Buddhists say, “metta”. An ocean of love is all we are, however, we get caught up in the self-created drama of family and life in this world of samsara. This is nothing new, some of the ancient Greeks knew it, many native cultures know it. Who doesn’t know it are religious fanatics who are certain in the views, opinions and ideas based on greed, anger and hatred.

  • Im sorry to come out of nowhere but “pharmakeia” references negative, non- Yahwistic sorcery. As a Jew of ancient times, Paul would know the practices of his forefathers and their rituals. In Exodus 30:23-30, God tells Moses to make the Holy Anointing Oil, to create the spice mixture for the Censer or Kitoret in hebrew (Exodus 30:34-38) and Manna (Exodus 16:31). The Holy Anointing oil is made from Cinnamon, Cassia, Kaneh-bosm (Calamus is a mistranslation from the Greek septuagint) and Myrrh. If you trace the etymology of the word Kanehbosm, or Kaneh-bos in singular, it’s CANNABIS. Cannabis translated into Hebrew comes up as Kanehbosm and Chashish. The spices for the Censers had qanehbosm in it as well as many other Psychoactive spices like Cinnamon, Cassia, Myrrh, Frankinscence, Galbanum, etc. Manna is made from the dew drops crystallized that turn into round white flakey secretions (Exodus 16:14). This is called Ergot. Ergot has LSA, which is what LSD is made from. Hence why in the Young’s Literal translation, it says that they were “seeing sounds” (And all the people are seeing the voices, and the flames, and the sound of the trumpet. (Exodus 20:18, YLT) which is synesthsia, the combining of sense during psychedelic trips, as well as seeing “the mountain on fire” even though it wasn’t burning, which is referencing visionary fractals (Exodus 24:17). Manna is called “Bread Of Life” and had more value than the quail, actual meat, in the dessert. RITUAL PSYCHEDELIC USE WAS A STAPLE OF WORSHIP FOR ANCIENT JEWS.

  • That’s a very interesting and controversy topic. My personal experience is that it made my faith a little more strong maybe. In all my trips I prayed before during and after. I can sense that god loves us so much that gave us life that created all this beauty gods loves us and want us to love each other . Don’t afraid even if you meet entities you’re a creation of god you believe in Jesus your shining light and vibrating love, share your love don’t afraid. I haven’t meet any entities and I had no much trips nor very big dosages. But in all my trips in can feel god more profound. Mushrooms showed my that the existence the universe without the life that god gave us was/is chaos cold chaos. I can’t even imagine how much love his put in the creation of life universe imagine in from literally “nothing” to all this beauty

  • IN THE EARLY bible and some greek writings it does talk about them taking “THE PURPLE” >> for example, Mary’s fingers and lips were stain purple as she ate from the angels and then there’s the whole taken the venom of snakes, and then the antidote, the medicated, wrapped things or whatever the phuk it says >> also what was happening on when Jesus was arrested >> WHAT is “THE PURPLE”

  • Mate very interesting content and ideas. I am getting deeper into this topic lately. I agree with your perspective largely, but I think there is a contradiction here : would this not apply to all earthly things? Food, medicine, wine, pleasure, coffee, chocolate, that is to say.. the issue being not the substance but the worship of said substance, This leads me to believe it is not the substance but rather the relationship one has with a substance. In this I could see justification of a healthy use of many substances. Are we to renounce all earthly things? Is this not to deny that God has placed us on earth for a reason? Are we to become priests? You could argue that we are to lead simple lives, free of coffee, alcohol, salt even, and to bear children, and to have a healthy family, and that is God’s purpose for us. To this I largely agree. But then if one were to slip, have a glass of wine, have a pinch of salt, watch a Harry Potter movie.. Is this enough to make one a sinner. And are we not talking about a matter of degrees? I feel that this a very subtle and not obvious topic. And I feel that the great irony of psychedelics is that while they are spiritual, they are ultimately physical entities. I believe they can be used, but one must remember God is most high.

  • What does the bible say? Most christians think psychedelic drugs aren’t mentioned in the bible, and that this fact gives room for flexibility. This changes when we learn which Greek word was chosen in the Septuagint when translating from the Hebrew for witchcraft. OT passages condemning witchcraft are everywhere. The Greek word for witchcraft is pharmakeia, the same word for drugs. Read Lewis Ungit.

  • i dont think i buy this spiritually speaking. Micro dosing wont make you trip, you might not even feel anything trippy or different. The heart.. the intentions to all and God puts decerning. 1-2 micro doses . its like with everything anything in excessiveness or abusive according to books of proverbs word of GOD is a sin.” Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.” Ecclesiastes 1:2-8
