Mercury, the planet associated with communication, expression, and cognition, is a highly intellectual energy that governs our thought processes. It influences our mental process, how we digest information, and our most effective ways of communicating. Mercury, along with Venus, also influences our social style and friendships.
In astrology, Mercury is at home in air signs, which lean toward rational and logical thinking. In fire signs, Mercury is quick, instinctive, and inspirational, giving the mind an intuitive and emotional filter. Mercury in water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) helps them express through their emotions, often indulgent in poetry, music, or writing. They become perceptive and may engage in poetry, music, or writing.
The five planets represent these vibrations: Jupiter for Space, Saturn for Air, Mars for Fire, Mercury for Earth, and Venus for Water. Mercury is known as Suisei, or “water star” or “water celestial object”. It represents communication, intellect, and the mind, governing how we think, express ourselves, and learn. Water signs are sensitive, tender-hearted, and often psychic, becoming invested in their relationships, passions, and pursuits.
Those with Mercury in Cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces are intuitive conversationalists, judging the direction of a conversation. Having both your Sun and Moon in water signs signifies a strong emphasis on emotions, intuition, and depth in your personality. Astrologer Alice Sparkly Kat shares how to interpret your Mercury sign and how Mercury retrograde affects you based on your birth chart. Mercury thrives in Aquarius, Capricorn, and Aries.

What is the meaning of water witching?
Water witching, also known as dowsing, is a divination technique used to locate underground objects such as water, oil, precious metals, gemstones, and buried bodies. Dowsers use dowsing rods, divining rods, or witching rods, which are typically Y- or L-shaped twigs from specific sources like witch-hazel shrubs and willow and peach trees. Modern dowsers use thin, L-shaped metal rods, such as copper, to search for their targets. They walk slowly around the area, waiting for the twig to dip or twitch when over water or for the metal rods to cross, forming an X over the target’s location.
What does it mean when your house is full of water?
House flooding can be caused by various structural, infrastructure, and property-related factors. Poor drainage, clogged gutters, inadequate drainage systems, and sloping landscapes can lead to flooding. Burst water or drain pipes can also cause indoor flooding, especially in unoccupied homes. Poorly sealed windows, doors, or roof outlets can allow water to seep inside during storms or heavy rainfall. HVAC issues can cause water buildup, leaks, and flooding.
Landscaping problems can direct water towards a home’s foundation, causing flooding. Malfunctioning or leaking appliances can also cause flooding. House foundation cracks and leaks can allow water to seep in during heavy rains or floods.
To prevent house flooding, many of these issues can be addressed. Sewer backwater valves can prevent sewer water from entering a home, and they operate automatically and require no electrical connections or manual operation. In some cases, combining the installation of a sewer valve with a sewer alarm and water sensor alarm can help limit future flooding. By addressing these issues, homeowners can prevent future flooding and protect their property from potential flooding.
Is Mercury a water planet in astrology?
The Wu Xing, a traditional Chinese theory, categorizes matter and its developmental stages into five stages: Wood ruler Jupiter, Green, East and Spring, Fire ruler Mars, Red, South and Summer, Earth ruler Saturn, Yellow, Center and Last Summer, Metal ruler Venus, White, West and Autumn, and Water ruler Mercury, Black, North and Winter. The essence of the Wu Xing is about the notion of five stages, rather than five types of material. A Ptolemy later modified the rulerships of Water triplicity, making Mars the ruler of the water triplicity for both day and night charts.
William Lilly also concurred with this modification. The concept of the Wu Xing has been a subject of debate among scholars, with some arguing that it is a system of classification rather than a system of classification.
Why is Mercury the water planet?
Mercury may have water ice at its north and south poles in deep craters, but only in regions in permanent shadows. Its atmosphere is a thin exosphere made up of atoms blasted off the surface by the solar wind and meteoroids. Mercury’s magnetic field is offset relative to the planet’s equator, and it interacts with the solar wind’s magnetic field to create intense magnetic tornadoes. These tornadoes funnel hot solar wind plasma down to the planet’s surface, knocking off neutrally charged atoms and sending them into the sky.

Why is Mercury called a water star?
Mercury, also known as “the Hour Star” in ancient China, was associated with the direction north and the phase of water in the Five Phases system of metaphysics. In modern cultures, it is referred to as the “water star” based on the Five elements. Hindu mythology used Budha for Mercury, who was thought to preside over Wednesday. Germanic paganism’s god Odin was associated with Mercury and Wednesday. The Maya may have represented Mercury as an owl serving as a messenger to the underworld.
In medieval Islamic astronomy, Abū Ishāq Ibrāhīm al-Zarqālī described the deferent of Mercury’s geocentric orbit as being oval, like an egg or a pignon. In the 12th century, Ibn Bajjah observed “two planets as black spots on the face of the Sun”, which was later suggested as the transit of Mercury and/or Venus by Maragha astronomer Qotb al-Din Shirazi in the 13th century. Most medieval reports of transits were later taken as observations of sunspots.
In India, Kerala school astronomer Nilakantha Somayaji developed a partially heliocentric planetary model in the 15th century, similar to the Tychonic system proposed by Tycho Brahe in the late 16th century.

Mercury in pisces. I believe in angels or at energy surrounding us that is helping us transform and bath in love ❤️ we are making ourselves suffering, but we can also give up on patterns that make us suffer into healing. This placement helps me a lot with that ❤️ one time I did a meditation to know which archangel is generally with me. The name Micheal popped up at this time I knew nothing about angels. I felt so emotional reading that he is the angel of protection, because I was struggeling with a lot of fear, paranoia and worry to the point of physical pain. Last summer I met a Christian called Micheal and had a emotional transformative period with him. I would not say that I am religious, but his faith in jesus and love reached my heart and put a seed of faith in it. When we seperated ways I was hitchhicking back to Lisbon. I was at a spot where not many cars cross, but waited not one minute and the driver was also called Micheal.. something out there wanted to really show me that I am watched over and will end up fine in life. Ps: in the car was another hitchhiker which I invited to stay at our house. He and one of my roommates shared a friend, although he was from Germany and she from Poland. They met again in Poland and fell in love and although are not living in the same country are still seeing each other. And me while I was with Micheal met a guy I shared a Special heartbond with too. I came back and spend a beautiful emotional intense time with him and am still in loving contact with him.
Mercury in Scorpio in my 12th house here…your description of us was the most accurate and complimentary I’ve come across. Combine that with my Scorpio rising, sun and Saturn, I feel like some people are afraid to hear me speak or give my opinion sometimes..because they know it’s going to be strong, blunt and possibly destructive to the conversation or narrative at hand…sometimes there’s too much intensity and passion in my speech, lol
Mercury in 0 degrees sag So my mercury is in Scorpio and Sagittarius 🔥🌊 and as a heavy Pluto person, Libra asc, and Jupiter/Saturn in 8th I do think about sex all the time Pisces in Mercury And as a Pisces moon I felt this thing with talking to ppl and not even listening haha, I’m just like „yea yea u right, exactly” haha
why are you apologizing for using your hands? You know that’s how you communicate it’s like apologizing for breathing! Accept this part of yourself and if it annoys others then that’s a them problem! So I’m a mercury in Pisces the way vision works is if I like what you’re saying then it’s a compliment I’m “spacing out” as I don’t need my eyes to hear you I hear you but I’m visualizing what you’re telling me in crisp 3D details therefor if you break this or you do a hard vocal turn to a new topic you take me out of my visual trance and now I’m lost and I have no idea what you said if you finish it all I finish it on all levels I hear you I see it & it’s mapped out before me. If i’m not visualizing what your telling me I don’t like it, it’s boring, I’m 80 steps ahead of you & your too slow on what your telling me, and or it’s not a stimulating conversation we’re having.
