  • I had the privilege of meeting Sammy Hagar at Newark Airport a few years back. We were on same flight and was delayed by 3 hours. He was sitting next to my wife and I waiting like everyone else. He talked to everyone that approached him. I was able to speak to him just about life. Like I knew him for years and he knew me. Such a great guy and he certainly can still sing like I the 80s. Amazing! Probably the nicest celebrity I have meet to date. I’ve met quite a few over the years.

  • 32 years later. This song still gives me Goosebumps. Since the news of Eddie Van Halen’s passing on Monday. The outpouring support of other Musicians sending their Condolences on what Eddie meant to the world of Music. And how Van Halen inspired their own music Career. Very sure Eddie & his Father are catching up on old times upstairs. Even jamming tunes. Can Imagine Eddie’s on Guitar while his Father’s on Clarinet. Read that part when I had the CD of VH 2

  • True world class musicians and entertainers, these guys will never get old or boring, wishing them always the very best and continued success. Anyone else catch in the beginning intro, between the 10-15 second mark it sounds like a voice saying “don’t walk away and then there’s a deep sounding laugh sound.

  • I don’t mean to say this to be rude or mean to Mona, cause she’s a ass kicking band member, but, Michael is the one with the backing voice. Since the first time I seen VH in ’79. I stood 10 feet in front of that left side stage speakers, and the blew my ear drums. It was the BEST! Michael was the backing voice, only backing voice! He has the harmony and voice pitch… I so much ENJOYED seeing them this past August at the Tulalip, north of Seattle. A really good show!!! Keep a Rock’n!

  • You are the man Sammy. That Chickenfoot III album was great 13 yrs l8ter. I listened to it at least 20x mowing the lawn today. (April ’24) That song “Something gone wrong” blew me away. I’ve probably listened to it 50x in a row. Y’all have to make a new album cause “We The People” need it. That band is something special for all of you. I think that song is some of your best work collectively. The circle is awesome too. It sounded like the original. Very close. Killed it! Peace out! ☮️🤟

  • The best part of hearing these songs is they’ll sound almost exactly the same as you know them and like them. Not to trivialize other people’s contributions but anyone can play an instrument and make it sound very close if not indistinguishable from the original. The vocals on the other hand are too unique and difficult to replicate. …and I was a huge van halen fan from the early years.

  • DURING the years of Van Hagar, it was very hard to appreciate those albums. However, in the 21st century, looking at how DLR is doing and how The Red Rocker is doing, you really look back and reassess Van Halen. You see Hagar still doing wonderful renditions of songs of old from solo and Van Halen, as well as nailing new songs he and his bandmates have recently written. Then you see DLR struggling on stage during the reunion tour lacking the ability to sing his much easier songs. Hagar’s songs require a LOT more vocal chops to get through, and he still has the talent. But with DLR, now that the hair is cut, the zip wires are gone, and he doesnt move as fast, it makes you reassess the quality of Van Hagar. i will admit, ADKOT is a kick ass album, but for some reason, just like in the 70’s and 80’s DLR can’t sing those songs or any of the old songs live. Sammy can both record killer tracks and nail them live. I don’t think DLR autotunes or enhances his voice, but for some reason he can’t sound anywhere as near good live. Hagar has lasted better, and it has sorta torn away my blind faith to the DLR years. They were great, masterful albums, but Hagar brought something new and fresh. He is also a much nicer person than DLR. Stop slamming him for insulting Van Halen, the stuff he says is true, and besides, you know how much mudslinging Eddie and DLR have done to him? They deserve it.

  • So did Ed showed up backstage,in order to show Mike Anthony how to play bass, here?Like he claims on his ridiculous Billboard interview.Yeah,I don’t think so,not to mention Mike’s background vocals are amazing.Lost any respect for him,on the other side my respect for Hagar went up tenfold, for sticking up for his bandmate.

  • Reading through these comments made me want to put in my 2 cents. 1st off… Sammy is my favorite singer of all time. Van Halen is my favorite band of all time, regardless of who is singing. The thing is people, and this is the bottom line, Van Halen and Van Hagar are two different bands. Eddie even wrote songs differently to accommodate both singers and still does to this day with Roth back in. It’s all great music and VH kicked ass with both regardless of who you like singing. Sammy and Roth went on tour together… remember?? I was there!! Can’t we all just get along as both era VH fans and hope that one day Eddie will stop being a dick and go on tour with both singers and Michael back on bass?! That would sell more than any one era VH singer concert could ever do alone… Best of Both Worlds!!! 😉

  • I just came from the Van Halen article of them performing recently on Jimmy Kimmel with David Lee Roth, and Roth was an absolute fool and sounded completely horrible.. Roth has always been notorious for being a horrible live singer, but he just brought it to new heights.. I would much rather see Sammy Hagar do another tour with Eddie, Alex, and Wolfgang.. in my opinion they’d be excellent.

  • I have to agree with Sammy. Roth was good for the early Van Halen days and even in his solo career. But I do believe that Van Halen’s brightest and best days were with Sammy Hagar. Furthermore, Hagar blows away Roth in every area! There’s no comparison. Stage presence, Vocals, Instrumental Ability… Hagar has it all! Sorry Dave, you lose, especially as of late. Your vocals are just horrible.

  • What a great, great song. This is my favorite & most melodic of all of Van Halen’s songs, on their most melodic & my favorite of all of their albums, OU812. I love Sammy; I love Dave; & I love Gary. Maybe, one day after today (4/18/20), Van Hagar might tour again. However, sadly, I doubt it. Life moves on. Richard
