Who is the true villain in Magi?

He sets up torture centers for non-humans, leads a group of magicians to attack a city, and steals magoi from Ilah to become the supreme god of the universe. He betrays Sinbad and Arba to achieve his mission, summoning powerful creatures and using his real body as a giant disk to kill anyone near him. He murders Sinbad after betraying him and attempts to murder his grandson.
Despite lacking redeeming qualities, David Jehoahaz Abraham is the only two Magi villains to be Pure Evil, as he and Arba are the only two villains to be pure evil. He murders Sinbad and his grandson, and lacks redeeming qualities that many other Magi villains have. This makes him a formidable adversary in the manga Magi.

Who is the MC in Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic?
The Magi series, written and illustrated by Shinobu Ohtaka, features a fictional cast including Aladdin, a mysterious young boy with a djinn within his flute, Ugo. Aladdin travels to find metal vessels containing other djinns, seeking similar beings like Ugo. The series borrows elements from One Thousand and One Nights, with the main characters being Magi (a rare class of magicians) and Alibaba Saluja, a chosen King Vessel. The prequel, Adventure of Sinbad, follows Sinbad’s early life, including capturing seven dungeons, starting a trading company, creating Sindria, and recruiting his Eight Generals.
The series also explores the concept of the “International Alliance”, a group of small nations united by multilateral treaties and mutual protection agreements. After the battle of Magnostadt, the Alliance joined forces with the Reim Empire and helped Hakuryuu’s faction win against Kouen’s during the Kou Empire Civil War. This alliance established ties of trust with major powers, leading to the establishment of the “International Alliance”, which spans almost every nation and abolishes slavery, conscription, and adopts a single currency.
What is Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic based on?
The series is based on the stories from One Thousand and One Nights, focusing on the ancient Old World and its regions and nations. All living beings possess an essence called Rukh, which returns to the flow of Rukh after death, giving life to subsequent beings in an eternal cycle called “Fate”. However, when a person is overcome with sadness, anger, and hopelessness, their Rukh becomes corrupted and unstable, leading to a process called “Fall into Depravity”.
There are magic castles called Dungeons, each the lair of a powerful magic being, a Djinn. Dungeon Capturers, who overcome the trials of a Dungeon and earn the allegiance of its Djinn, can use Rukh to create Magoi, an energy used to power their magical weapons and abilities. However, Magoi must be used with care, as once exhausted, it causes death.
A rare class of magicians, known as Magi, can also use Magoi from the Rukh around them, greatly increasing their capabilities. Magi often choose Dungeon Capturers to offer guidance and protection, making them their King Vessels.
Several nations in history have been founded or improved by the rule of Magi, who have greatly influenced the development of the world.
📹 Why It’s A PROBLEM To Make Magi The Kingdom of Magic Seven Season 3
I say why it’s a problem to make Magi season 3 and future seasons. In this video I talk about Why It’s Been A Problem To Make …
Magi’s power system and hierarchy is SOOOO damn slick. I love the connections between King and Household vessels with how it passes down, and the magic element system similar to that of HxH’s nen power system. Great article though, you’ve definetly done your research and magi’s power system and all the references of all the chapters is a DOOZY. Not even reading wikipedia pages or reading the manga through start to finish 5 times can even fully grasp it haha, it’s insane indeed. I completely forgot about magic guns
Great vid!! I always look for more magi content to see, so thanks for giving attention to this manga/anime. It’s my favourite!! Anyway, i think you committed some mistakes. I don’t mind them, you did a good job resuming the power sistem of magi, but just so you know: 1.- Sharrkan’s household vessel is connected to Focalor, not Baal. It uses wind magic. The name of his vessel is Foraz Saiqa, Baal’s ones always have “Bararaq” on it. 2.- When a household vessel user “assimilates”, he/she doesn’t always take the form of the species of the djinn. There are plenty of cases, for example, Shou En has to be connected to one of Kouen’s djinns. Kouen’s djinns are: garuda, gorgon and manticore. But he is a blue dragon. I don’t understand the reason why, but it happens often. Sorry for my english, i’m spanish. And thanks again for everything!! I gave you a like. <3
if anyone want to use this for battle or wants to explain to somebody or anything Rukh is basically a higher concepts, it is the flow of destiny itself and it governs the souls, fate and every action of the world. I referred to it as a higher concepts because it’s flow affects parallel universe, other dimensions, higher and lower realities/universes. This is a general introduction but let’s see what Rukh actually is in detail. manga chapter 18 baba talking … RUKH ARE… …THE HOME OF SOULS. LIVING CREATURES ARE INDIVIDUALS, BUT WHEN THEY DIE, THEY ALL RETURN TO ONE PLACE. THAT IS THE RUKH THEY ARE BOTH THE BEGINNING AND THE END OF LIFE WHEN PEOPLE DIE… …THEIR BODIES RETURN TO THE EARTH… …BUT THEIR SPIRITS… …RETURN TO THE RUKH chapter 23 baba talking RUKH ARE THE BLOOD OF THE WORLD. THEY CONNECT THE SOULS… …OF ALL LIVING THINGS. As I said earlier Rukh is a concept, it is the home of souls. It is a flow that governs souls and it is the place where everything returns once it has ended it’s life cicle. But it also controls reality itself, the fate of each alive thing, their mind and their actions: Magi adventure of Sinbad chapter 139 Falan talking IN THIS WORLD, THERE IS AN INEVITABLE “FLOW” THAT GUIDES EVERY- THING. EVERYTHING PEOPLE THINK, FEEL, CREATE… WE SEE ALL OF THAT AS SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS ACCORDING TO OUR OWN, INDIVIDUAL WILLS, BUT… WE’RE ONLY EXISTING WITHIN THAT “FLOW” OF DESTINY. THAT MEANS WE CAN’T GO AGAINST THE SYSTEM ESTABLISHED IN THIS WORLD.
I finished the entire manga because I just loved Magi so much. It was a huge part of my childhood, and made my twelve year old self cry a ton (as silly as that sounds). I’m an adult now, and honestly if they ever adapted a third season I think I would cry even more than I did as a kid. It’s been so long that I’ve basically given up hope for it, so the idea of a third season ever coming is enough to put me through an emotional whiplash.
Maybe I’m too sentimental and subjective but Magi could handle the best worldbuilding in any other anime I’ve watched so far. It also correlates to life for me it has a very balanced and compensated worldview just like how our world functions and points the viewer towards the biggest issues of it along with the most important values you can encounter during your lifetime. The way they handles the flow of rukh corelates to eastern tradition where they too see the world as one united part and when people die they go back to the same source to meet again and unite. It gives a sense of “You are never alone and always loved” feeling. I truly love the religious and spiritual analogies in the show which ties in perfectly with the duty of a magi. It’s a masterpiece in my opinion and sadly people are not that deep nowadays to appreaciate or see the true value in an anime.
Finished rewatching Magi two days ago and saw this in my recommended, didn’t think it would be such a recent article. It was even more amazing than when I watched it like 7 years ago, I’m 21 now and I could understand even more about the anime clearly. Glad to see people are still talking about it. Finding out that Magi got a musical in 2022 was definitely a surprise for me, it’s an odd thing to do for an anime and manga that ended so long ago, it could be a good sign. Bleach came back after 10 years so, I guess I still have hope because of it. Although I probably shouldn’t compare those two, nowhere near similar.
How is this guy so underated ?It actually bothers me,he’s insight about the business side of anime is actually insane and the dedication he puts into the articles, outside of the fact that i am sure he’s searching for days on end to even get this information in the first place .Keep up the good work man,i am in the process of binge perusal your website.
I believe it is possible. Magi is highly underrated. with that being said recently we’ve been getting anime and manga like bleach and hxh coming back after 10 years worth of time so its safe to say its not impossible too. This anime holds a special place in every fans heart because of the vibrantly overwhelming characters and their day to day conflict that brings them closer together. As for me I cry more than anyone because I didn’t start anime/manga as a manga reader, I began perusal anime first…it pains me to say but I don’t actively read the entire manga of something that has anime adaptations, so for me anime is a very important part of the puzzle to help to visualize and connect to the story more. And come on, these companies will pick up the weirdest side manga to animate, get your behinds on MAGI: SEASON 3
Ive been supporting this anime since it was released, i was 10 at that time. And oh boy im already 19 turning 20 next month and theres still no season 3. I already read the manga and it has potential like sht its a rollercoaster its really great! Hands down to ghe creator, i promised myself i wont have kids till theres season 3. I want my kids to see the alma toran arc
The first time I explored Magi, was through anime version, and when I finished the second season, knowing that this is not the end and there won’t be 3d season… I was so upset, I wandered the internet for no reason. And then I heard about Magi manga, and I was like – SO I CAN SEE HOW IT ENDED?? FOR REAL?😃 And I read it. 10 times, each year, with same interest and love for characters. And if animators ever try to start 3d season, I would be the most loyal fan! I would set a salute party, for this event! But… eh, here we are.
I first found Magi on Neflix after I broke my elbow and was recovering. I ended up perusal both seasons…. twice, because I watched Sinbad and had to rewatch. I started reading it since then and was there to see it finish. It’s such a good series and would love for the anime to finish, but hey I can always just buy physicals and reread it.
magi has a very special place in my heart, I watched it when I was younger and it made my cry a lot. I love it from the art style to the soundtrack to the characters. My favorite character is Morgiana and she really helped me to gain some confidence in my body, because for a while I felt terrible that I had muscular legs. Morgiana’s muscular legs were depicted as beautiful which opened my eyes to seeing beauty in all body types.
I really love magi. I watched magi back on Netflix years ago and was there when sinbad first appeared. I love the story so much and gave me so many ideas as to create a story. I finally read the manga a couple years ago and god I wish it was able to finish. I wish Netflix didn’t take of kingdom of magic and sinbad because I usually go rewatch magi every year. I’m happy orient was able to get anime adaption even tho the animation is just good and already have a second cour that’s close to the manga. Her work is so good and I wish her stuff was fully animated.
Something similar happened with World Trigger, we got a new season when everyone kept saying it was dead. Same for Young Justice, support it and ask for it and eventually it will come back. Hell, this also happened with the show The Expanse. Expanse has been canceled like 3 times at this point and keeps coming back on other networks because it’s just that darn good! (Please go watch the Expanse, it starts slow but it’s a hell of a ride in later seasons!)
I read the rest of the manga because it catch my interest strongly after perusal the series. And honestly I think this shonen is for me, so far, the best one at integrating the “power of friendship” in a way that feels like it’s an integral part of the story, instead of a cheap plot device. Lovely story, likable characters, amazing female characters, amazing romance development too and omg finally a particularly different but incredibly interesting setting too. Most current isekais could learn a LOT about world building and more original magic system design from this story. Morgiana was my favorite character btw, also in this genre, it’s rare to find a major female character with such beautiful development as a character.
I’m happy to see someone talking about Magi in 2022, but being honest. Even after read and finish the Manga, i’m still mad about the fact that they dont get a 3rd season. The only reason that i dont watched simbad it’s because i knew this and i dont want envolve mentally with this story again. This really hurts me at that time (i watched in 2013). Besides that, i was perusal Orient, and its pretty good but dont have the same quality.
I love the series so much! I’m glad it’s still getting some attention. However, I went to a con this past October and they said they stopped printing Magi around 2 years ago. This explained why volume 2 has been out of stock and only found in auctioning. I really hope they bring back this series! It’s so underrated
Magi was such a great series! I binged the entire series plus Sinbad in one weekend. I just could not stop. It was everything I loved on one thing: Anime, Arabic/Middle Eastern inspired world and clothing, magic, fantasy, and really attractive anime waifus and husbandos. I was so gutted that the series never continued and I’ve been increasingly despondent over it as the years go on. If Magi (or another older series that I love that deserves new content – Slayers) ever came back on air I would flip my entire shit in the best way. I wouldn’t even care if they rebooted the entire series and started from episode 1 again if they thought that was best. More Magi for me. 😭 Edit: Ja’far was my husbando. I’m a sucker for tragic freckled white hair anime bois.
I wish they would start a fundraiser for the third season id pitch in. I’m afraid that they were never financially motivated bc of ppl obtaining the series through other means. (I believe a lot of animes that had support fail this way) They prolly assumed it was a flop meanwhile there’s thousands of people wanting it it’s just they made no return so how can people expect them to pay voice actors and editors.
I just recently decided to re-watch and re-read magi so this article is a nice surprise because I was just explaining this to my sister. I love the manga and even though I wish they would continue it, I understand why its most likely impossible. I read the manga as it came out and was super into the fandom and all the internal issues just to get the manga done, still, it is one of my favorite mangas. If anything I wish they would at least animate the Alma Toran arc because it is top tier.
Magi is a great series that would be amazing in a long running anime form honestly. The first 2 seasons were great, & the manga is very good also, & it genuinely has some of the best art in all of manga ever! I’d say it’s in the top 15-20 when it comes to best artwork in manga. It’s so ungodly detailed, precise, & very complex with its characters designs. I always thought it was crazy how the mangaka can draw some of these intricate & insanely detailed character designs over & over again continuously, while making it look the same way every time. Highly impressive honestly. Magi was one of the first (like 3rd I think..) manga that I’ve read to completion. I used to love perusal an anime that only has a few seasons, but then has a manga that is a long running one, with a shit ton of chapters to be able to read & pick up from where the anime stops at, & have a lot of the manga chapters to be able to read from there on. I used to love finding series like that, & Magi was one of the first for me & I absolutely loved it! I got addicted to reading it constantly, I just had to know what happens next & couldn’t get enough of the amazing art & designs, cool unique powers etc. etc.. It would be nice to get all of the manga adapted to anime, but I’m fine with the manga, & the two seasons we got at least. Though I will say that the end of the manga was kind of confusing & complex in its concepts & being able to really follow along & understand with what exactly is happening, & what they are trying to explain/how it all ties together etc etc.
Best waifu in Magi is Judar, obviously. Another thing we got recently for Magi is brand new merch for the anime’s 10 year anniversary. Also to everyone who is missing Magi: please join the fandom. There are multiple Discord servers, there are active fans on many websites like Twitter and Tumblr, new art is being made all the time, new doujinshi, new fanfic, etc. The fandom is not dead.
I am not sure if I remember this correctly, might have been another manga. But didn’t she want Magi to continue ( I believe she had like originally planned to have at least 100-200 more chapters available to wrap it up, potentially wrap it up differently ) but she was pushed down due to sales and giving more space to male authors?
A shame my waifu wasn’t included, his name is Sinbad lmao. I love this series so much and I finally moved on to finish the manga. It sucks that we don’t have a S3, but I still have some hope! Maybe the author will come back to Magi after finishing Orient. I can only hope!! Aside from that, this article was super amazing and I loved how nicely it analyzes the series. Magi is so underrated despite the fact it’s fucking fantastic!!!
idk how i dont know why but i randomly rememebred this out of no where and i was like i wonder if they ever finished it… and now i know why i never went back to it they never continued it i barely watch anime any more but every time i get attached to an anime it never finishes lol im so sad this one didnt it was great. ive completely given up on no game no life years ago and im devastated as far as i know log horizon didnt continue lol
I find it really sad they haven’t made anything after the anime, because next chapters in manga are fire 🔥🔥. The whole Solomon arc. (part of Alma Thoran arc.(sorry for mistakes)) looks so amazing. SPOILER!! I mean, this guy can literally cause smth like a collapse in other dimension!! Drawings in manga looks great, so imagine anime with it! After Alibaba comes back to the living world I stopped enjoying the whole series so much, because the arabian ancient world I’ve fallen in love with became too similar to present reality, but I can’t wait to read about Sinbad’s plan with David inside!
I remember perusal Magi way back…I think…during 2015? I haven’t checked Magi out for a while so I may forgot some of the things. Heck, I even started to write a fanfic about it. So the fanfic is about where I have Magi and Transformers all in one story. Weird combination, I know, but I just love to express my imagination lol. Haven’t written it in a while but recently I’ve continued writing it again coz of that new Transformers movie last year lol It’s weird though, coz Magi should at least have one more season with more episodes than season 1 and 2 so they can cover all the chapters in the Final arc. Like, the only way for people to know what happened next is to read the manga, to which I do read it. I don’t know if they’ll able to make it someday.
3:50 yes this can be good… or bad. For example Lord of the Rings. One of the greatest movie franchises of all time, and it follows this structure. That being said you might get bored seeing other’s adventures, vs the others. Example after rewatching many times, I find myself less drawn to Frodo’s group, while more drawn to Aragorn, because it’s more exciting, while Frodo’s group grows and evolves, once you know that angle it might not be as exciting if seen too many times. This is also what made me drop the books, well part of it, the other part being… kind of what I felt from Magi. At times it takes too long to get to a point, and while story and character building certainly is really good, I eat it up, I’m also impatient, retreading and repeating the same things heck sometimes even the same dialogue. Example of this Fate GO, amazing story, despite the terrible gacha system one of 2 reasons would recommend the game… yet one of the main character’s Mash just repeats what others say… I can’t think of particular lines off the top of my head… (sees a Spider Man article in recommended) Spider Man, he swings up to police, asks oh whose responsible for this bank robbery there’s sand everywhere, police captain “we believe it to be Sandman” Spider Man “It’s the Sandman?” Police “Yes Sandman may have been the one responsible” Spider Man “hmmm so it is very possible Sandman is behind this… Not Green Goblin” Police “Nope saw this guy in a green shirt leaving a trail of sand” Spider Man “aahhh ok.
Thanks for your hard work. There are a ton of series that are missing content so I can’t really say that Magi is the only or best one to get more of it animated. How about making a article about which ones desperately need to continue btw so I and a lot more people would know what to expect? Also have you made any articles about the varying plot lines of series (ex. Fma/Fmab, Trinity 7, Omamori Himari and so on)? Also waifu poll A – Morgiana. I am a sucker for story lines so she got the vote. Also how about a article for amazing world building on animes of all time? Sao, Re:zero, Re-slime and Log horizon would probably find their place from the article as well as Fma/Fmab, Magi, HxH, Db, Naruto, Pokemon, Digimon, Made in Abyss, Kino’s Journey, and a lot of others. If you haven’t seen all of the mentioned ones, you definitely should. I got a long list of proposals for watchlist if it is wanted. 😉
I remember when Sinbad came out online and it was ok, but as the episodes came out, I noticed a drop in sub quality and it became noticeably harder to find all the episodes towards the end. I totally think the Sinbad season was a sign that there were issues coming and I know the numbers showed a decline BUT i dunno if that’s a reason to not continue a third season with other animes of lesser quality getting seasons.
This is a bold opinion on my part while also being totally tardy to the party. I think some of the poor retention of the anime is partially due to the studio who created it. If I recall correctly the studio was A1. At that point in time that studio’s main focus was SAO as their main cash cow. I can’t blame a studio for focusing on their biggest money maker, but looking back at the Magi anime there were a looot of poorly aimed scenes upon airing that had to be vastly fixed in the home release of the series. Even still it didn’t stand close to the polish they put into SAO. I’m not even going to touch some rewrites they did that changed interpretations or were simply silly rewrites to the detriment of the series (there’s literally memes of Morg in the cart saying “oh no, can’t figure out the main character based on the bright pink hair” which never happened in the manga). Basically Magi became the red headed step child of the studio, it’s like they churned out a half baked anime because they couldn’t be bothered. This was also near the dawn of separating seasons of anime, which was definitely to the detriment of its popularity. In the era of time where anime was less mainstream there wasn’t a wider audience to boost series that were less popular within the anime scene. It makes me very sad because I LOVED the manga and I still do to this day. I just don’t think that the way A1 was directing the anime it could move forward with any success. So long as they have the rights the series will likely never move into production of a third season.
Let’s face it, I can barely remember the entire anime (watched it so long ago) BUT I keep coming back to see if they’re making more. We need a strategy – let’s all go watch it in the same place, so those higher-ups can make those phone calls when their metrics inflate. I don’t have the knowledge to tell you the best place to do this… any ideas?
16:50… ye, then look at the biggest anime comeback story… been since September 24th 2009, since season 2 ended… of the beloved Spice and Wolf, yet last year… we got something announced. A series that should’ve been dead, is getting something announced 14 years later. Still no new info on what it may be, sequel, prequel, series, movie, or what… but something is coming. If Spice and Wolf can be brought back from the grave I truly believe any anime can, just depends on the manga’s creator’s allowing it 1, and 2 if it seems promising to anime studios for a comeback. Since Covid we have been seeing more and more older series finally getting a 2nd or 3rd season… is it because of Covid? They just got too backed up and didn’t know what to do about it? Thus it’s good to have these other off hand animes and series people loved that are done, especially if a bigger series like One Piece or My Hero has to be on a break because of the pandemic? One of the few good things to come out of that dark time?… maybe, who knows. Also on step 3… yeah that is an approach, in fact many authors have gone on record stating that being their only motif to make an anime, then it might be them calling it quits after a season 1 or 2 because people are eating up their manga, there is no more need for commercializing their product. So it’s a double edged sword, nothing against those authors, it’s fine they do want their products and visions to be realized probably from this one source more so than another, on top of.
Magi is underrated, also they did stray of the manga, so probably hard to make season 3, through not impossibe. Also how it has good characters, politicking, conomics and having engaging stories, drama, advnture and fun and humor. Ad the manga ending int perfect, but works, through rushed. The magic system even maks gopod, and a canon reason why alladin is op, works. B oh sindbad no bouken is good too. Thinking of it, the games dropped hard not using the amazing worldbuilding properly.
No bc they literally stop where a godly animation could take place for season 3, LIKE ALMA TORRAN WAS FREAKIN AWESOME LIKE WE COULD HAVE SEEN THAT. WE COULD HAVE GOTTEN TO SEE ALADDIN’S PARENTS AND WHERE HE WAS BORN, EVERYTHING BUT THEY HAD TO STOP IT RIGHT BEFORE. EVEN SINBAD’S SEASON COULD HAVE BEEN GREAT IF IT CONTINUED WITH OTHER CHAPTERS. IT COULD BE ONE OF THE GREATS IF IT STARTS PRODUCTION AND RELEASES IN A GENERATION LIKE THIS CONSIDERING ANIME IS PRETTY POPULAR NOWADAYS ! LIKE WHYYY DID NETFLIX HAVE TO TAKE IT OFF 😭
Speaking of buying the manga I started buying it but I’ve been having trouble finding like over half of the series. Is there some place to buy all volumes for a reasonable price per volume. Because I always see like the same 4 volumes in stores and I tried ordering some online and they canceled half the order. I really want to collect them all and was just wondering if I’m the only one having trouble lol
A complete travesty we never got a 3rd season. It was a big mistake to make the sinbad spin off, i myself was very annoyed and didnt bother perusal it. It would be amazing if out of nowhere it got a season 3 like part time demon lord season 2. IF i remember right that series didnt particularly end well in the manga and wasnt even as popular as magi
The solomon story could work but after that magi would have a seriously tough time competing with its previous seasons till the end. Im not saying the seasons should be battle filled but the lack of action is too big a hurdle to overcome unless you really cheap out on animation. So many episodes for not a lot of payoff. Its good but it really wouldn’t satisfy people. I really wish the trio spent more time together instead of alibaba getting separated even more and we skip any adventure worth having in the dark continent.
Hm, i see, well I guess we’ll see, crazier stuff has happened. Anyway, there’s Arcs that still hasn’t been covered by the Anime? I thought it had covered everything? Still, while i would appreciate Magi to get more content and coverage, I am fine with what it has, i just would like to see it get more attention. Also, A. D. B. C. in that order, I think.
Good job with the magi article my friend now to give you my favorite waifu in magi itself it all the way morgiana because she over came Hardships when she was Growing up from Be In slavery for over 10 years of her life and thanks to Aladdin and Alibaba she Able to get her spirit back and now wants to help Who is need from a poor background or in slavery that she despises obviously since she was one herself and also wants to get stronger so she will never Feel weak or helpless Ever again so that’s my reason why Morgiana is my number one favorite Female ❤️character in magi and the stronger fanalis 👍
I remember binge perusal/reading Magi back when I was a freshman in Highschool. I made some friends cause of it and we all used to sit down at lunch and discuss/make theories of our favorite characters and the story. I remember I used to HATE Sinbad with a passion lol, I use to find him so overpowered that it lowkye ruined the story for me. (Stupid I know but I was dumb kid and Alibaba was my favorite character)
Magi damn that is an anime I hadnt heard about in years. It was a great anime and did enjoy the hidden message in someone their arcs. I was mostly I intrigued with the series world building. I think I read nearly the entire series a couple years back. I did not complete because I could not find the ending of the series and gave upon finding it. I then recently went back to it because a chatacter Ina different franchise reminded me of Morigana. And look like it is now fully translated… but the problem is I don’t really recall where I left off. ( sigh) ; I guess I may need to reread the entire series in the future tocomplete. The manga. I was quite surprised someone still talk about it abd remember this underated serirs after so many years . This manga I think was the first series that I read that was set entirely in a fantasy setting that had no realation to the typical isekai and lead me tostart perusal g anime. That is entirely set in a fantasy world with no connection to a depiction of our world
To be honest season 2 did Morgiana and Alibaba kinda dirty cuz they made me get too interested in how Alibaba would be able to do a full djinn equip and rise in the ranks of the colosseum and make a name for himself in the kingdom of leam, while Morgiana would go in an adventure with tht other magi and come to terms with maybe nvr making it to her ppls homeland but instead they just show us a little of their story and to be honest I didn’t really care much for the academi’s characters
Honestly, the last arc is the problem. Up until the Hakuryuu vs Alibaba fight, then majority of Kou civil war arc, everything made sense. Then the story dropped in quality when they dropped almost all plot points that built the tension. (Hakuryuu and Judal didn’t need to be separated and should have just fought Kouen’s army then have Sinbad have a villain reveal.) Instead, Judal’s plot was fucking dropped so hard and the time skip arc was the worst there is. What a horrible and rushed ending.
I feel it won’t get new seasons because it’s already complete and the manga did not end strong. I feel the author “jumped the shark” in the final arc. I don’t know if they were rushed or not. To me it’s fine the way it is without new season. Adapting the whole thing might ruin the series for people.
Magi is good but the relationship between Alibaba and Morgiana seems a little forced. Probably because it is based on the cliché of the protagonist trio where there are always 2 boys and a girl where the girl is basically the least developed and who ends up being the girlfriend of one of the two main protagonists, like in naruto or even dragon ball. But what bothers me the most is the execution of the final Villain. For me sinbad alone would already be a good villain but the late introduction of Davi in the story made the final arc seem very rushed, one minute Davi is trapped in an aquarium, in the next chapter he is Sinbad’s Magi and when I blinked he was inverting the hierarchy of gods on a multiversal plane. All these concepts are good and would make a good character arc for davi, but all this supposed “master plan” is placed in less than 10 chapters with no time to develop. And the worst thing is that the justification for Davi’s actions is basically “why yes”. Magi’s final stretch could have been much better.
It’s Simple: We no longer live in a world where anime adaptations of manga start from the start of the series to the very end. One Piece, DragonBall, Naruto, Bleach, these series began and continued until their conclusion. If they hit the manga, they would use filler. Now, a series starts, but once the production of the anime ends, it could very well just end. If they have enough push to continue, they continue. But also they exist as advertising for the manga as well. And if the manga ends, the Anime will likely not want to adapt something that has already ended because there would be little promotion from the manga to watch the anime. Nisekoi ended the manga during the 2nd season. It never got a 3rd that covered the final act. Yamada and the Seven Witches only had one season while the manga ended by that point.
THIS KIND OF GOOD ANIME SHOULD’VE BEEN CONTINUED ITS FUCKING WAY MORE BETTER THAN A MIDPIECE I MEAN ONE PIECE I DONT WHY THIS FUCKBOY LUFFY SHOULD BEEN OVERRATED HE WANTS TO BE PIRATE KING BUT HE CANT EVEN SWIM WTF THERE’S NO PIRATE LIKE THAT PLUS THE NORMAL HUMAN IN THEIR VERSE IS DIFFERENT THERES A LOT BIG HEAD/BIG EYES/LONG NOSE/HYBRID/MUSCLE GUY WITH SKINNY FOOT/ WTF SO RANDOM AND UGLY EVEN THE STORY IS WORST
… I see no Paimon… I guess C, or D1. At 1st I did like Morgiana but did like the other characters the more they got introduced… and come on, when you ship characters it’d be wrong to make them your waifu… unless the protagonist doesn’t end up with them in which case it’s fine. Rooted for Hinata Naruto but hey, didn’t work out Hinata fans could rejoice, not that I was into Hinata, just biggest example can’t think of my own off the top of my head… that being said if Hinata hadn’t ended up with Naruto Boruto wouldn’t exist… hmmm weigh your pros and cons, Naruto X Hinata vs Boruto hmmm… Shirahoshi from One Piece, Luffy doesn’t pick her cool, Luffy does well… not to sound insensitive, but thus you have back up waifus, and frankly I would ship Luffy with Boa more. Plus ehhhhh despite being the hottest human woman in the One Piece world (according to the One Piece world itself, not my word’s their’s), and 2nd hottest person behind Shirahoshi… if she don’t end up with Luffy she’s dying alone, sad to say. No way she’d fall in love with someone without going through her trials, for starters not being turned to stone by her love love attacks, can’t do that you’re screwed… ironic, best way to love your waifu just don’t… Lucy from Fairytail… why the hell am I spending an essay making these points (face slaps).
Just to say, yes one piece could definitely focus on the side characters. You clearly don’t consume it enough to tell someone that it doesn’t ONBE PIECE IS BUILT off of the world building and characters. Each individual character has their story, we’re just experiencing it through the straw hats. I do agree that Magi deserves a season 3, you just triggered me by saying that one piece can’t follow other characters besides the main cast. It most definitely can if you knew about the SBS and all of the content we get for each character.
Sinbad was maybe a good Anime but it was a bad idea. Since for me who watches the Magi first I was already invested in the story of Alibaba, Morgiana and everyone. To me although everyone is saying they liked Sinbad for us we dont. First Sinbad was a fuck boi, his morality is questionable. He was literally a bad character for us who watched Magi first. Like the moment he had multiple women I already say to myself I hate his character. They should have done season 3. Sinbad was a bad anime for a Magi watcher. So I’m not surprised why Sinbad has a bad sale.
As much as i want a continuation, if its gonna be released with degraded quality, then i’d rather take the first two seasons with better quality. Coz if there’s a new season, the budget will be even lower given the previous season’s performance way back. Cry all you want that you don’t care about animations but for a series heavy with magic, good quality animations SHOULD be a given. Budget constraints will also butcher the plot progression for the sake of runtime within 12 episodes. Overall, it’s gonna be a disappointment.
It’s so strange. EVen among adults, shonen IS the most popular “genre”. Her series just didn’t hit. Chainsaw Man, Attack on Titan, One Piece, Demon Slayer, Jujutsu kaisen are hitting record numbers. People are really living it for isekai? Lmfao. Seinin aren’t doing shonen numbers and view anime adapt seinin material
God do I hate the Anime Industry. Its as worse, if not infinitely more problematic since not A lot has changed since the 1980s. Sure that’s about 40 years ago, but those 40 years have left anime in a “Make it or Break it” lifestyle that’s all about making money NOW and throwing caution to the wind! There have been Anime and Manga that have been Greenlit and left in development Hell for Years. The Fact that remaking Anime from The Early 80s has become a new Thing has really showed that the popularity of an anime is the only thing that matters! And How much money you make during the process is the result. There is no Production Planning nor Long Term schedule that goes into releasing New anime, especially if that content isn’t nearly as Successful as the bigger titles out there! I mean just look at FMA and FMA:B! It’s the same show, but released like some sort of Abomination! Two half’s of the same show with the same concepts, but split down the middle like some sort of crazy “Back to the Future” plotline! And it is frustrating when you think about it.
Magi is the closest show I’ve seen to Avatar the last airbender and the best I’ve seen since in terms of its world building, story telling, and character development. Those shows have a lot of parallels and I think they would have been nearly equal if we got Magi’s third season. The annoying part to me is that they spent money and resources to make the Sinbad spin off, 4 article games, and a live action play, rather than completing the original show first. I keep seeing people commenting that they’ve been waiting years for season 3 and I want those of you to know the community is still growing, I only watched it for the first time less than a month ago and am now joining the endless wait. You don’t need to list the rest of the answer choices, it’s 110% A
