The MysticTicket is an event item in Pokémon FireRed, LeafGreen, and Emerald that allows players to access Navel Rock, an island hidden among the Sevii Islands. It is required for accessing Navel Rock in all three games and can be obtained through hacking to warp to it, hacking Ho-Oh and Lugia into your PC, or activating the Mystic Ticket event.
To obtain the MysticTicket in Pokemon Emerald, one can use an Action Replay and use the code that gives you all the key items in your game. The Old Sea Map, Mystic Ticket, and Aurora Ticket can be used to catch Mew, Lugia, Ho-Oh, and Deoxys-Speed respectively. The MysticTicket is ineffective without another ship ticket, and it can be transferred by mixing records with a Ru/Sa game that received it from the E-Card Mystic Ticket.
The MysticTicket is ineffective without another ship ticket, and players must have another ship ticket to access Navel Rock in FireRed, LeafGreen, and Emerald versions. Mystery Gifts can be received at any Pokémon Center from an NPC on the second floor next to Teala. Original Wonder Cards are also available for purchase.
In summary, the MysticTicket is an event item that allows players to access Navel Rock in FireRed, LeafGreen, and Emerald versions. To obtain it, players must hack to warp to Navel Rock, hack Ho-Oh and Lugia into their PC, activate the Mystic Ticket event, and obtain Ho-Oh.

📹 How We Unlocked All Mystery Gift Events
After months of hard work we can finally show our latest project! Together with my friend UndeadxReality we worked on analyzing …
I did everything right, but it sent me back to Fortree City instead of Navel Rock, then a cutscene played where there was another main male protagonist walking with a gardevoir on the trees after walking away from a random red-head who wasn’t there before, then the protagonist kissed the gardevoir… I’m not sure what the hell happened but it was better then any damn island I’ll ever see 🙂
13 years later, with my english good enough to finally reply to this article. This was a waste of my time, I whole heartedly belived this as a kid, but no, I was played like a damn fiddle. I know the internet was different back then but still. Just wanted to get this rid off my chest. Too much time I’ve wasted as a kid. For anyone who IS in the position that I was in 13 years ago, do not attempt this, it will not work.
The translation project has now been released! You can watch it on my website using the link below: youtu.be/N9yE29Iy1J8 Old announcement: Hello everyone! We’re currently working on a article to make translations for all of the events we made and some custom events as well! We still need some help for the last few translations, so if you’re fluent in either German, French, Italian, Spanish or Japanese, then consider helping us translate the events! You can join the translation team by joining our new discord server! discord.gg/BF6FveS3mH Edit: We’ve now finished the translations for the events and are currently working on a article for it. Stay tuned!
Wish Chansey is actually a big deal. Wish Blissey is one of the strongest support Pokemon in Gen 8 OU for example, but it’s almost impossible to use on an actual cartridge game because of it’s scarcity of being available for three weeks only. Guess this means we have a… more justified way of getting it now. We’re using ROMs yes, but at least you’re still hatching it like you would’ve in 2004. Better then nothing.
This is truly amazing. Having previously purchased an Eon Ticket, I remember being ecstatic when my brother and I discovered the Aurora Ticket ROM back in 2017, hoping there would be more. With that, we successfully hunted shiny Deoxys in LeafGreen. We did use some of Digiex/Project Pokémon’s other ROMs to get the remaining event items (we just distributed the Aurora Ticket to Emerald last week in July 2022), but it’s nice to see we can get the Wish Eggs and the Altering Cave Pokémon, too. Good work!
Very cool work! I dream that one day we might find the DS cartridge or downloadable software for the Old Sea Chart but for now this should hopefully be a very useful tool for people who want to be able to access it without needing to hack it in or use ACE. Thank you for all the hard work on sharing this with us! I’m always happy to see educational content that goes along with people sharing their passions!
As someone without a driver’s license during Gen 3, the Wonder Cards were like a pantheon of evil gods I simultaneously prayed to and cursed every night growing up. In time there came IR-GTS and acceptable ways to obtain legal event Pokemon, but what I wanted even more was to see the steps between the Emerald experience I knew and the game state available to people attending the events. Wonderful to see this done so thoroughly!
I used to talk with some of the people on the forum, specifically deoxys. Probably misspelled that, I haven’t even looked back at it for more than a year now. While there was progress being made. It’s was starting to look like certain event carts were completely lost to time. Very glad to see this being done, this is probably the closest we will ever get to a “authentic” distribution, great job!
This is really cool, and technically impressive. It’s good that more people will get to experience these in a near authentic manner… but releasing these files has its own set of greater consequences. It’s well documented that there are bad actors out there buying GBA dev carts, flashing event ROMs onto them, and passing them off as real to scam people on eBay. Having these modified roms in a manner where they cannot be easily identified as repos is a dream come true for these scammers. Another consequence is the flood of fakes could make tracking down and preserving real versions of the remaining event cartridges impossible.
you guys are like heros to me, no joke ahaha i have OCD. i wasnt diagnosed until i was in my mid 20s, but looking back it was obvious ive had it since childhood. one of the most obvious ways it manifested was in how particular i was with how i played games; especially pokemon. my brain likes to take completionism to a whole new, unachievable level. and one of the things that drove me up the wall was being unable to obtain event pokemon “correctly.” i HATE just hacking stuff in. i want The Genuine Experience™️. since ive been diagnosed and thus am able to have the condition properly treated w medication, etc, the obsessiveness has eased up a little, but being unable to “legitimately” obtain things in games is still distressing. you guys making this sort of thing possible is like a dream come true, ahaha. this is the sorta thing ive wanted to do in my games since i was a kid, and i cant thank you enough for working so hard to make things like this finally possible. anyway. a bit of a long, personal ramble, but… truly, thank you! and whenever you start selling those gen 2 to gen 3 trade adapters, im absolutely snagging one and telling all my friends about it too!
Clicked on this article out of pure curiosity and interest and finally, after literally, what, 18 years of wondering, I FINALLY know how Altering Cave was supposed to work? I can’t believe it, I spent SOOO long as a kid just thinking “it’s so mysterious and kinda hidden away but there are just Zubats… What am I missing, what am I doing wrong, what is the mystery behind this cave?!” Well, now I know, they just never really finished it 😂 Great article bud
Never have I subbed to a website before in my 20 years of youtube usage. You are my first, you are my one and only. I can finally get my living dex underway. I especially like the altering cave. While I do have a legit Colosseum game, being able to enjoy my legit LeafGreen cartridge with all it’s functions available is a REAL treat! A heartfelt thank you to you and to all who made this possible!
Amazing work as always. It’s incredible to know we’ll be able to play these events on real hardware whenever we want thanks to both of your hard work. And with Project Pokémon also receiving the PCNY distribution hardware and discs for Generation II events and the potential that brings, it might not be very long before we have near-complete access to all events on the non-Wi-Fi-enabled games.
Awesome work Goppier! Just had to subscribe after that! I guess we all wished since we were kids to be able to have legit access to those events!! It would be awesome if you could also do a tutorial article on how to make use of that ROM, how to upload to a cart so we can try to do it ourselves at home. I’m definitely looking into it so I can try getting those Pokémons on my old games! 😄
Weren’t things like the Eon ticket available through record mixing with another cart that had it? Edit: Well then, after looking on Bulbapedia and Serebii, looks like the Eon Ticket was the ONLY event item that could be sent this way. And even then you can’t send it along to another player if you obtained yours via record mixing.
Legends, I‘ve been lurking on Digiex and Project Pokémon for a while and the work they are doing to preserve and provide Retro Events is wonderful. I‘m subbed but I checked your website yesterday after ages and no updates. 5 hours later, a new article is online. As you mentioned, I‘m hyped for multiboot as well as german language compatibility. Also I hope, you were able to resolve remaining issues with the GEN2-GEN3 trading and will release the hardware soon. Great Work!!! 🙂
this is so cool! and i’m excited to see what comes next for multiboot distributions — i remember going to the pokemon 10th anniversary tour and getting a bunch of exclusive pokemon that way, though from what i remember reading the rom for the pokemon distributed in the usa hasn’t been found, just the european ones. it would be interesting to see if you can replicate the states’ version of the event even if an original cartridge hasn’t been found.
thank you so much for this and the mystery gift pokemon distributions!! getting an ez flash and an analogue have been wonderful for this! i believe i attended a couple events in person, but my childhood games are long gone, so it’s wonderful to be able to do these again! i also appreciate these kinds of things from the perspective of an aspiring game dev. thank you!!
hi there! this is super cool and i’m really appreciative of all your hard work. perusal this article was very insightful and it was fun to watch because of how well organized it is! i wanted to let you know that when trying to boot your custom ROMs on actual hardware (GBA SP using a Everdrive GBA flashcart), they just hang after the game boy advance logo appears alongside the nintendo logo. it simply freezes on that screen and nothing happens. i have tested numerous of them and all of them seem to have this issue. i know that it’s not just an issue with my flashcart or my wireless adapter since i’ve used the original aurora ticket distribution ROM successfully with no issues (i even tested it again after yours freeze). is it an issue on my end, like needing to set a specific save type or turning RTC on/off, or could it be a bug in the original code that prevents it from working on original hardware or on my flashcart? i can confirm that they seem to open properly in emulator. thank you in advance and apologies for the trouble!!
Theres a small problem I find with the Mew event, this event was only released on Japan by official means, this sadly means that any Mew caught on the 3rd Gen games (specifically Emerald) HAD to be Japanese, otherwise aplications like the Pokemon Bank or Pokemon Home would not allow the player to transfer them to newer games
I’m so glad you made this! I’ve been looking to complete living dexes in all gen 3 games, and I wanted to be as legal as possible, using the least amount of glitches. Thanks to the Eon Ticket and Colosseum I was able to get most mons, but Deoxys and Mew were the ones that escaped my grasp until now. Thank you! This is honestly as legal as it’ll get, special for peole like me that didn’t live anywhere near where events happened.
Very nice, great job updating the ROM to enable distribution of all events. The only event I could ever attend as a child was a Mew distribution, but they just gave you Mew directly, and not the old sea map unfortunately. I would really like to „complete” my old save states, Gen3 is still my favorite 20 years later… Hence support for other languages would be awesome (*cough* german *cough*). I would assume that just some checks need to be adapted, but nothing is ever straightforward with Pokemon games, so, who knows. Anyway, thanks for the hard work! 🙂
This comment might be a little late, but for anyone thinking of buy what you need for this, is 100% worth it. I just got my wireless adaptar (pair) for $30 and the EZ Flash for $80 from ebay. Is as simple as putting the file in the microsd and connect to the mystery gift. Now i will use this event to RNG manip Deoxys, Lugia, Ho-Oh and Mew. Thank you for all your effort doing this.
It’s amazing to see the community of pokemon making preserve this unreacheable events. i’m from argentina and i’m currently getting into the pokemon world (not at good competitive but just to enjoy the experience itself) just got the originals pokemons for the gba and i’ve been looking that they’ve made events like this it’s a dream. And you guys to make this kinda events possible again it makes me very happy. Thank you so much for this proyect and hope you’re getting your goals in life :yougotthis:
Great article! I am a big Pokemon Fan since I was child but unfortunately I never got the mystery gifts back in the days. I am now studying electrical engineering with respect to embedded systems where I work a lot with machine code, assembly etc. which makes this article so cool for me. I would love to see these kind of things in my native language german and may start trying it by myself if I have time someday.
I’ve been trying to make a living dex by catching each pokemon from the first gens they were introduced in the most legit way possible and I’d been going crazy about how to get deoxys in emerald, without having to play through all of fire red just to have a pokemon high enough level to catch it in those games. This is a great preservation of game history and a god send to me personally, thank you so much guys!
Hi thank you for making this possible. My emerald copy since 2008 finally get to experienced the event. i was so emotional when i found out about this because i was only doing save file editor and enabling to distribute via ez flash but it doesnt work. until i found this article xD now i will forever save this roms in my ez flash and share to some of my friends in the future if we ever meet again.
This makes me curious about the possibility of doing the same thing with the ereader. I’m sure you’ve got your own plans on the content you want to make, but it would be cool to see a similar article breaking down e reader cards and maybe making custom ones like an English version of the regi dolls or something
Man I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my Heart. I followed all the steps, and i pretty much shed a tear when my SP said received wondercard. I have all the pokemon I’ve wanted without gameshark, and the Obey problems. TY TY TY from the bottom of my heart, I’m in my 30s now and reliving all these memories is so special to me. My EZ flash with all the tickets on it now I consider a piece of pokemon history, and I want to let you know I’m gonna use my device to help distribute to people who might not know how to do this and let them experience a this paramount piece of pokemon history. @goppier you are the GOAT
Wow ok so I left my 3ds open on my bed hatching eggs in Pokemon Y when I sat down to watch this. I have a danganronpa 3ds custom theme, and the extremely quiet danganronpa investigations music that started a few minutes into this article absolutely made me think that my 3ds somehow crashed and went to the Home menu. I actually paused the article and got up to go fix it, only to realize that the music was in this article. Very surreal
I am curious as to how this would work via emulation (mechanically-wise) as my GBAs have long since been “retired” (see: I have no idea what’s wrong with them and now they don’t read carts currently). I know people like OG hardware and I also see the appeal as I like it as well, but as time advances these consoles will slowly die with less ways to revive them.
The work you and Undead have done here is nothing short of incredible, and is a great gift to the Pokémon community! Are all of the wonder card texts and backgrounds accurate to the original events, aside from the generic “Exchange Card” text? I can’t find a list of all the original wonder cards, so I wanted to know out of curiosity.
Random thought. People have mentioned creating custom mystery gifts. Which is a great idea. One I think that would be a good one is if you could make a mystery gift for the jiriachi that can only be obtained from the game cube disc. While this is technically still possible to get. it’s financially unreasonable to do if you don’t already have all of the required equipment.
Idea: make custom GBA rom that has the original mystery gift rom code in the binary, make the custom code in the rom do the patching and then execute the patched code. No need to generate separate roms, and you can then do the randomization too. Or just implement the mystery gift system from ground up, but might be more work if the wireless communication protocol is complicated / not fully reversed
Important Note: All of these work with the German Versions of Gen3, I own all 5 Games and tested them myself. The Card and the Text of the NPC will be in English but everything else works completely normal. Pokemon sent via Link Cable will also have their German names I can’t confirm wether or not this also works for the other european versions but I have no reason to doubt that.
This is amazing and we can finally have a one stop shop to obtaining these pokemon legitimately without having such a massive hassle. I had to use action replay to add all those event items and codes for the wish pokemon and scouring decades old forum sites for the correct codes where heavily time consuming. Many thanks. My only one question is will there be a event distribution for both Ruby and Sapphire? Those games where given the eon ticket and those things are very cheap or heavily expensive on eBay plus the secret base distribution decorator items, such as the regi trio plushies.
Update: It worked with VBA Link and a lot of time (I tried like 3 different emulators). Thanks for putting in all the effort! I don’t know if you’re still reading comments, but I was trying to get this to work on VBA-M, and it wouldn’t work. I would open up both the special GBA you guys made, and my save of LeafGreen, connect them with a wireless link, and then open mystery gift and try to do the stuff. But it wasn’t able to detect the distributer GBA. Do you know if this is a problem with VBA-M and I have to use a certain type of emulator, or is there something I need to do to make it work? I guess what I really need is an emulator to do the thing on.
I am glad for this. I am scared to pull off glitches that may potentially destroy my Emerald cartridge, which is in original and near pristine condition. I would not forgive myself if I broke it. I was curious as to whether you can trick Gen 3 games to allow the limited events to trigger. Glad that the answer is yes.
Hey man, this is absolutely incredible! I was wondering though, would this theoretically be possible using the analogue pocket as the distribution gameboy? Assuming the distro rom can be accessed on the pocket itself (in a similar manner to a flash cart) and it can access a wireless adaptor to distribute the event, do you think it’d be doable? I’m just curious if there’s anything that makes it necessary to use first party hardware. Either way, thanks for all your hard work on this!
Thanks for doing this possible and release it to the world, my child dreams can come true of catching a wild mew, lugia and deoxys withuot having to use the pomeg glitch, that shit is hard XD again thanks for all your hard work you really give me a great weekend :#3 and a reason to play again my old games
Hello ! Thank you so much for you article ! I tried to launch your ROM with my Supercard Micro SD but I get a lot of white screen. I manage to get sending a mystery gift one time only but my cartridge are French. I can’t wait for your next article. Do you think using an EZ flash card instead of a Supercard would be better ? Thank you for your work !
Are you planning on modifying the other major Gen 3 event ROM so it can distribute the 10ANNIV Celebi? If you were to do that, it would be possible to get every Pokémon in Gen 3 legitimately. Also, what about Gen 6 and Gen 7 events? Is there a way to make a distribution application for a hacked 3DS? Great work, I will be downloading this ROM at some point.
With Pokemon Emerald being my favorite Pokemon game since I was a little kid, it has always been a big dream of mine to one day be able to open these islands, which even though I already have these legendary Pokemon thanks to my cousin I still wanted to find a way to go to thoses islands so that I can catchs them by myself, I really tried many times to find a way to get them (even I called the Nintendo representative in my country but (of course) without any result… 😑) in the end I tried to I’m looking to see if it’s possible to get them through with Glitchs, at one stage I tried to see if it could be done in a modified Save file so that I could put some Pokemon to hold these Key Items and so when I transferred them to my Emerald through Trade I could open the islands (of course that didn’t work 😆), and at some point through digiex I was able to open the island of Deoxis, which even though 1 was great, it was still very thank you, and now thanks to you I can finally also open the remaining ones so that I can visit them myself Thank you so much for making this possible
not sure if it’d be possible (and it’d probably be a big task), but what about creating an english version of the “my pokemon ranch” platinum update? I’m in the process of putting the game onto my wii, but I think it’s a shame that usa & europe never got the update. either way, brilliant article! it’s amazing what you’ve managed to achieve so far & looking forward to future articles 😁
I’m suddenly struck with a wild idea: What happens if you activate Emerald’s Altering Cave BEFORE you get to post game? As you know, Post-game Safari Zone in Emerald has all the common johto pokémon, but Altering Cave also has some of those pokémon but it’s accessible before post-game. Does that mean you can get those johto pokémon BEFORE getting the National Dex? Would doing so break the game?
I remember when I was little me and my mum went to city center to look for the event for original red and blue to get a chance to download mew to the original 150 to get 151 mew so I tried to find the event and got lost turns out it was in a history building I don’t no why when I got there the was loads of kids and mums and dads so you had to enter a line to get a wrist band the was loads of tables with loads of players fighting I joined and after a while I won you had to defeat 5 players I only got beat once by a 4 year old I did have water and he had electric I had to rematch him to pass but with him been young and I know he wouldn’t change I added golem soon taught him a lesson my bad lol anyways you put your hand up and are taken to another set of players all adults 4 of them sat just looking at you as your in line so you wait and have to battle one of them you get taken over to them and fight after if you win against one of them which the was called the elite 4 lol you get out in another line to this big computer that you had to give a man your cartridge and he would stick it in to big machine and the Pokémon trading screen would come up and there mew was on screen first time I seen him as a Pokémon for game my eyes lit up so when that happens you got to fight 2 old Chinese looking men that am sure worked for Nintendo anyways you had to beat one of them to get a years supply of Nintendo stuff and when I looked at the list there was only 1 name on it i didn’t win am sure he was cheating we battled with Mewtwo we both had same moves blizzard we went back and forth substitute recover blizzard or psychic but my blizzard only hit once where his hit a few more times then mine it was very fun going to the event when I was little ✌️😊
Hey man this is really cool but I tried to use this on emulators before realising that there aren’t any emulators that emulator wireless adaptors (the mGBA thread like 7+ years old). That being said I did find this link to a Gen 3 Mystery gift injection tool that injects the cards into saves which can then be emulated. The problem is that they don’t have any data for the wish egg pokemon. Is it possible for you to use the stuff you learned about the eggs here to help update the injection tool so that emulator players can use this too? It would be pretty cool.
Iv been thinking all day how this process might be possible with the ds cartridges. You’d just dump the event cartridges used in the gen 4/5 era, edit the data for the pokemon, and boom custom event. Easier said than done of course. The dns server is nice and all but it doesn’t guarantee a specific event and it doesn’t allow for the creation of fully custom event Pokémon. These could be given out at fan events. Any insight into this, maybe how you would go about doing it? I’m a bit stuck on the “dump and modify” portion. (Kinda a large portion tbh)
Hey Goppier! AMAZING article! So if I’ve understood it correctly and want to use this for myself, then I need 2 GBA’s + 2 Wireless adapters and a GBA Flashcard with the ROM you created? So my questions are: – Can i use 2 GBA SP’s Instead? -or maybe even 1 GBA and 1 GBA SP? Does It make a difference? – Is it possible to use a Nintendo DS with Emerald and then a R4i SDHC Dual Core with the ROM installed on it and get the same result? It would be much appreciated if you or any of you geniuses in the comment section could help me out! I wish ya’ll a good day and thanks for the help in advance :))
You briefly mentioned support for other languages. I wonder what will happen or if it even connects when using, say, a German game to send the events to. Will it work just fine and just display English text? Are there any differences in the connection protocol with other language versions of the games? Or would other steps have to be made in order to be able to send them?
Not sure if it’s even possible but, would you ever consider trying to make the e-reader JPN ruby/sapphire decorations (regi dolls) distribute/compatible with an English Emerald without having to mix records, or have copies of JPN ruby/sapphire? Again, not a coder or anything like that, if it’s even possible, just an idea I thought about considering I was interested in getting the JPN exclusive regi doll decorations, but realized how much extra things are required to get it on actual English Emerald hardware.
I recently bought a pokemon leaf green game. And it was a used game. They have all 386 pokemon with 421:45 gameplay. and I believe they got it legitimately, they have the aurora ticket. I assume that the other tickets were in another gen 3 that they owned. I checked the PC if they had any Pokemon leftove and there was no pokemon in their PC, they only had rattata and a pidgey in their party. I believe they transferred all their other pokemon to gen 4
At 10:00 you mentioned repointing the variables that are located adjacent to the script and adjusting all the pointers that point to them. But why repoint the data after the script when you can just repoint the script itself? Wouldn’t that be easier? Also, as far as egg distribution goes, there is a random number generator function for scripting, so fortunately making them all work in a single script should be trivial.
I’ve tried a few of the using VBAm and so far only 2 of them have worked, the Aurora and Mystic tickets. Whenever I try to send the eggs or altering cave event the receiver game always say something like connection dropped.. Would I need to get actual hardware to make them work (already have a physcial FireRed & GBA so I’d need to get another console, 2 wireless adapters and a GBA flash cart,) or are they unfortunately broken?
Sorry to bother again but do you know of any reason why the mystery gift option would not appear on the regular cartridge? I finally got some wireless adaptors. It tries to send the ticket as it should but the mystery gift button does not ever appear on the normal game. It tries to send the ticket with both adaptors so I don’t think there’s an issue with those but not sure why it’s not showing up in game… any suggestions? Edit: so nm. I was perusal another article showing a different distribution method using an nds and r4 card and found my issue. Did not realize I needed to fill out the questionnaire in order to receive the mystery gifts. Once I did that everything worked flawlessly.
Hey I just wanted to ask something ! I’m currently looking into custom Nintendo E-Reader cards for a RomHack, do you think it’s possible to make the E-Reader smaller and / or compatible with the Nintendo DS or DS lite, given the Pokemon PalPark communication 🤔 It’s a long shot but I just find it a neat system and being about to print out custom cards to scan like Eon Ticket Event for Gen 3 would be rad for Custom Pokemon Games Do you think it’s possible I’m pretty new to this but I want to make my own at somepoint, and hopefully make it compatible with a Gen 4 custom Pokemon Game /Port ^___^
Just need to figure out a way to get like the jirachi and celebi etc….. maybe buy using your new trading device for gen 2 and 3…. Also what about like the gift articuno with those other special Pokémon, I can’t figure out the names, and like the 2004 Pokémon rocks tour Pokémon….. I have a feeling there’s a ton more we can use this for……
Finished Emerald and it’s Hoenn Dex last night, got all 3 johto starters. Just need to transfer all remaining johto pokémon and the entire hoenn dex to FireRed. Still haven’t caught a feebas and evolve it into milotic, I’m so frustrated. Had to use Action Replay on Colosseum save file to get Celebi. National Dex is such a chore I swear to GOD!
So in theory, could I just flash this rom onto some old GBA cart I pick up for pennies, and then I can use that with a wireless adapter to send “legit” Mystery Gift events to my original GBA games? Am I reading this right? If that’s the case, I might get into code-making myself and try to make some kind of halfway legit Celebi event. Celebi and Mew are the only Pokemon I’m missing in my Emerald and I’d love to be able to round them off, to truly catch them all. (Yes I flashed the rom for Birth Island for Deoxys but everything else is legitimate)
