  • All the times I’ve seen Rodney this is probably one of his best sets ever! Saw him live at the sunrise theater in fort Lauderdale and My stomach and face hurt from laughing for 4 days after that! it’s dangerous seeing him live because he doesn’t give you time to catch your breath between one joke and another and it’s just a constant one long laugh until it’s almost like a dry heave! Rodney was beautiful…

  • In 1989, I saw Rodney when he was touring the country. He did a 90 min set that was, to this day, one of the funniest shows I have ever seen. There were about 3K-5K of us in the audience, and all of us were in pain by the end of the show. He absolutely killed that night. And it was all 1-liners, which makes it even more incredible.

  • One of the funniest things Rodney ever said was just before he passed when he said if the heart surgery he was about have was successful he would be out of the hospital in a couple of days but if it wasn’t successful he would be out in a couple of hours. He always caught you off guard with his humor. RIP Johnny and Rodney…

  • Rodney had me laughing so hard, it brought tears to my eyes. The tears are also from the wonderful talent of Johnny Carson. It’s just amazing what a class act he really was. Super talented! I’m grateful I got to grow up in this era. The late night of today is horrendous. I wouldn’t give any of the current late night hosts a minute of my time. RIP Johnny.

  • I was 13 when Johnny retired, and I cried through his farewell episode. I cried just now, when I went to look up what year that was. I wasn’t a lazy kid, and spent most of the daytime hours outside. Having had a deeper admiration for a person I never met, than with most of those with whom I’ve interacted, I can’t overstate the tremendously endearing power of humor. I miss Johnny and Rodney.

  • I was living in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and was working at a 7-11 about a mile from home. It wasn’t busy that night and in walks Rodney Dangerfield. I was putting up some stock on the shelves and I happened to look up. I tripped onto the floor. I got up and proceeded to launch into my impression of him. He applauded and thanked me for this. He was a very nice person. By the way, he did drink the beer he was a spokesman for. Rodney, we hardly knew you.

  • The legend. You can see how Johnny really was cracking up. I remember being a boy and sneaking out of my bedroom and turning the TV on quietly in our living room to watch Rodney on The Tonight Show on school night. My laughter would wake my mom up and she would tell me to go to bed. The same would happen when Don Rickels was on.

  • It’s incredible that these titans of entertainment are gone…it seems like just yesterday we were perusal these guys and laughing our asses off. It always slayed me when Rodney was on his stand-up roll you could hear Johnny guffawing just as loud as the audience. Rodney was one of a kind…always performing non-stop…

  • Rodney can get me rolling on the floor, trying to catch my breath. I really need to quit smoking. LOL. But, the greatest thing about Rodney is that he never loses control with laughter. He is the prime example of the straight man. He was never over the top dirty. Every joke was suggestive, but not disgusting.

  • A great man…..Each and every time I watch these articles I recall a time when we could all share a good joke and not have to worry about someone calling you a racist, sexist, homophobic, misogynist, or any of the other ridiculous things we hear today. Dangerfield was one of a kind. RIP….. I imagine many in heaven sitting around a table listening to Rodney and his friends spread good cheer and laughter.

  • One thing that blows my mind about Rodney, and that I find pretty unique as far as stand up goes, is how seamlessly his jokes flow into each other. Most stand up I’ve seen feels so segmented, each joke its own little section. But with Rodney it just flows like a river. The little transitions between his jokes are just elegant, theres no other way to put it.

  • Ohhhhh man! I could never get sick of perusal Carson or Dangerfield. Rodney Dangerfield has more talent and can make anyone laugh. Then all these so-called talents that is not, late night talk show hosts suck nowadays. 2024. Thank you, Rodney Dangerfield, and YouTube. We actually have something funny to watch.

  • I’ve got tears streaming out of my eyes ! Only Rodney Dangerfield can say out loud the dangerous facts of life : He lost weight, he was looking so good, then he went like that ! What a comedian ! I’m 65, and let me tell you, woke people don’t understand that it’s the ‘dancing on the edge of the cliff’ jokes which are the funniest. I hope you’re both killing it in Comedy Heaven, Rodney and Johnny ! Thanks for the article !

  • I worked for the Carson show and Rodney was our go to guy when a guest was not going to show up. Most of the appearance’s Rodney did with no notice it is a tribute to his amazing talent. The othrr thing is he was a really nice man there were alot of quests and he was the best even at the height of his fame it did not affect him.. May he rest in peace.

  • Rodney Dangerfield got a role in Caddyshack because of these terrific bits he did on Johnny Carson, and because he was on the top of his game. Caddyshack was his first movie, and he didn’t know the lingo about action or cut, he just stayed behind the curtain until he was told by the Director to come out and do his bit. I think the funniest thing he said in Caddyshack was about how bad the food was at the country club, that the steak still had marks on it, from where the jockey was hitting it.

  • For those who ever want to jump off a cliff and not get hurt do everything this guy did moving arms and legs stops you from tilting. No where he went wrong is when he hit water his arms were out to the side which creates opportunities for the impact of the water to injur yourself. I always do either one of two thing right before my feet enter the water, cross my arms🙅🏼‍♂️ or do a pencil into the water but with arms fully extend above my head. I annoyed myself writing that I apologize

  • Proud Floridaman here and I have to say that we grew up doing these things. Ive jumped off bridges about that high in the middle of the night when you couldn’t even see the water. Actually did the same bridge 4 or 5 times one night while drinking with buddies, but that was in the 90s before we had all the phones and crap we have now. Good times, but im kinda glad those days are behind me haha 👍🤣👍

  • The scary part of standing on a ledge of a tall building, it’s not worrying that you’ll fall off, it’s actually the fear that you might want to jump off. What scared me is that I really wanted to do it. The greatest beauty i’ve had is dying. I don’t care anymore whether I live or die. I accept my death. I will take the entire Universe with me. There won’t be any suffering because I’m taking you all with me.

  • I remember getting drunk as a teenager and hanging off one of our bridges. The bridge next to it is 155 feet high so I assume the same height. Cops arrested me and my dad came and got me from the station. Looking back it was a pretty stupid thing to do. Ppl use the bridge near my house to commit suicide and they usually never find the bodies down the river. R.I.P.

  • A cardinal rule is never jump in water where you can’t see the bottom . I’ve lost count of the people who’ve broke necks and backs at a young age doing this and are crippled from the neck or waste down the rest of their life . I’m surprised he’s not talking in a soprano voice at that height you keep your legs together and arms tucked tight . A belly flop that high will tear your skin off. Thankful he’s ok . God did protect him, but it is not wise to test God with foolish actions .

  • Atchafalaya river is a large river with a powerful dangerous current (it is easily the 2nd largest river in the whole southeast US behind only the Mississippi) the website is also about 1/4 mile wide. Not to mention he fell well over 100 ft . It was more than a miracle that he survived both the fall and the river .

  • In his selfishness and stupidity, what if he killed people passing by in a boat? He delayed traffic and maybe prevented emergency services on route to save someone else’s life. He should absolutely be charged with a crime, spend a week in jail and pay a fine. He needs to serve as an example that this is not acceptable.

  • He put his life and other people’s life in danger . He should be thanking the Good Lord above that he didn’t die . He said his shoulder got hurt, if he had never jumped into the river he wouldn’t have gotten hurt . That’s his fault then on top of that he got arrested . Who was the people out there recording him . They should have told him No don’t do that ! What’s wrong with some of these people these days cause alot of people been doing some of the most dangerous and stupid things just to go viral on YouTube and the rest of the internet . I am glad he is ok . Well he sure did go viral after that . Miss . Linda 😀❤

  • Im very thankful this young man is okay but i hope he has leanred not to test life. People think water is soft. But when you hit it is hard and hurts. I just learned people who jump of Niagra falls can be torn limb from limb from the force of the waters. I had no idea. Theres something like 350 gallons of water a minute falling…. Anyways … Truly thankful this young fellow is still alive.

  • As the mother of three daughters and stuck in total stopped accident traffic on a bridge in St. Louis for almost two hours, my girls took out a basket ball and worked on their keep away skills, before we knew it there where about 8 kids making the best out of a time out, and it’s good skills to make use of unplanned, unforseen moments and entertainment joy gets to drive the show, not you. We are all, just along for the ride, so elevate, alleviate and don’t hate, don’t be a fun sucker!

  • If the jump is less than 100 feet, there’s no danger in jumping. I jump 45 to 50 feet regularly, but only in the summer, when it’s warm, if this was done in winter, spring, or fall, then yes it’s a bad idea, but only because you become cold and can get hypothermia, not because you would die from the fall.

  • I once partied with about a dozen people on a Dallas TX freeway for about 2 hours while waiting on a overturned 18 wheeler to be removed. I sat with a 12 pack on the divider. Then a dude and his wife came out of their truck with a blunt and bottle of Crown. Then others joined us. Good times before humanity hated each other

  • Bro, problem is people just like me throw rebar off those bridges and sheet metal when we are done with it so it’s a serious risk when jumping off a bridge that high with no idea how deep it is or what’s down there! I did this once on a job site about lost my pinky toe, that’s how I know 😂🤦🏼‍♂️ I didn’t go that high though I went off the end where it wasn’t so high! Nikajack bridge by Rock city I built that bridge and wanted to cool off one Friday after quitting time and hopped in. Piece of galvanized steal went right through my steal toe boots and lopped about a 1/3 of my toe off! Soon as I got out someone noticed, said dude your bleeding bad! I didn’t even know!

  • Very few survive this jump. To be this desperate I guarantee it’s not their first attempt So sad especially for the family’s. I can’t even imagine getting a knock on my door from cops telling me my child killed himself jumping off this. bridge. I mean, how does a parent come to terms with such a tragedy?
