What Other Term In Astrology Does Rising Mean?

The ascendant sign, also known as the rising sign, is the zodiac sign that was rising on the eastern horizon at the time and location of birth. It represents a person’s physical appearance and awakening consciousness. The rising sign is located on the cusp of the first house of the natal chart, which rules their personality and countenance.

In astrology, rising signs are just as important as sun signs. They can only be determined by knowing your time, place of birth, and date of birth. The rising sign signifies a person’s physical appearance and awakening consciousness. For example, a Sun in Leo may not be as flamboyant if they have a modest Virgo rising. Your rising sign is the key to unlocking your psyche and helps you understand your personality and temperament from an outside perspective.

The rising sign is the zodiac sign that was literally rising on the eastern horizon at the time of birth. It marks the beginning of your first house, which signifies your self, physical body, character, and appearance. The meaning of the ascendant is the point of the ecliptic or degree of the zodiac that rises above the eastern horizon at any moment.

In summary, the ascendant sign is the constellation that was rising on the eastern horizon at the time and location of birth. It represents a person’s physical appearance and awakening consciousness, and it is crucial to determine the rising sign to understand their personality and temperament.

Are ascendant and rising the same?

The ascendant, also known as Asc, Asc, or As, is an astrological sign on the eastern horizon that signifies a person’s physical appearance and awakening consciousness. Astrologers consider the ascendant to be a reflection of the individual environment and conditioning during their upbringing and childhood circumstances. The ascendant is also concerned with how a person presents themselves to the world, especially in public and impersonal situations.

Despite Babylonian astronomers observing the actual rising times of the signs, there is no specific mention of the ascendant in the texts that have survived on clay tablets. By the 3rd century BCE, Egyptians used the rising of specific asterisms to identify the ascendant and get an approximate time of night. The Greeks later named the ascendant horoskopos, or “hour marker”. The first documented mention of an ascendant was found in the works of Balbilus.

What is called rising?

The widening disparity between affluent and middle- and lower-income households has emerged as a pivotal concern, with a new generation of potential competitors to MAS on the rise. The region’s distinctive topography, comprising steep terrain and surrounding evergreen hills, presents a visually stunning landscape at every vantage point.

What is the correct term for rising?

The term “movement upward” is used to describe a process of advancing or becoming higher in degree or value. This concept is also referred to as ascension, ascent, or rise. The phenomenon may be relatively short-lived, having emerged recently or having been created or acquired recently.

Which is the strongest ascendant?

The ascendant’s influence in a birth chart is generally stronger when it falls closer to the beginning of the sign, as most of the first house will fall into that sign. If the ascendant falls late in a sign, most of the first house will fall into the following sign, weakening its power. The sun’s position in the chart can also affect its influence, with some suggesting it is weaker when placed at the bottom or near the imum coeli (IC). Unaspected suns and planets show greater effect and are more free.

People become more like their sun sign after around 29 years old, as they grow older and more confident. The progressed ascendant moves into the following sign, weakening the influence of the natal ascendant. Planets have added importance in the birth chart due to their relationship to the ascendant. The chart ruler, such as Mercury, is of particular importance, setting the tone for the chart. The nearest planet, especially located in the first house, is called the rising planet and has a particular significance in the chart.

If a planet is very close to the ascendant, it can be interpreted as the rising planet. If a planet is in conjunction with the ascendant, it becomes vitally important in its effect on the personality, to the extent of being as important as the sun. Planets in the first house always have an added emphasis.

What is a rising in astrology?

The ascendant, the sign on the eastern horizon at birth, represents the image you project to the world and offers insight into your skills, talents, and strategies. People may not initially perceive you as your sun sign, as they may have picked up on your rising sign. For example, a person born on Dec. 17 might be perceived as an unfiltered, truth-seeking, wanderlust-filled Sagittarius, but their rising sign is a social, conflict-averse cardinal air sign Libra, making them appear diplomatic.

Your ascendant can also affect your physical appearance, with Scorpio risings having an intense, magnetic, mysterious vibe and commanding presence, while Leo risings may pay special attention to their hair and appear charismatic, gravitating towards bright, cheerful, golden hues.

  • My husband has a Capricorn Moon in the 2nd house and he LOVES making spreadsheets. We use the spreadsheets but he loves MAKING them. This episode made me realize this is a reflection of the CAP/cardinal nature of his Moon. He takes care of his body by going for a run every day, and then inputting it on his spreadsheet. My Moon is in the 4th house, Pisces. I take care of my body by sitting at home (4th house) on my solar Taurus tuchus and doing spiritual stuff (Pisces), pulling a Tarot card, meditating on it… and then entering it on the spreadsheet that my husband made for me, because he loves making spreadsheets!

  • I have wondered a long time about this. It can be challenging to get a deep understanding of the foundational flow that our our Sun, rising sign and Moon reveals. What I came to is the Sun is the essential self. As a water sign Sun sign, it feels like my private way of being. The rising feels like the part of us that intersects with the world. The emphasis of which appears our patterns of being in day to day experience. I have heard it referred to as our mask. It seems like more than that. How you appear is the not just a social construct. It is your physical self, your patterns in living, and what you are drawn to. Our Moon seems like our instincts. How we feel and how we perceive what can feel about the the mysterious within us . How we function psychologically. Our perception of the hidden world, operur ancestry the deeply emotional aspects of how we connect in relationships. I appreciate taking this deeper dive in this article. Thanks.

  • Aquarius Sun 2 ° Aquarius Rising, Chiron 5° Mercury’s 11°, Ceres 19°Aquarius, Venus 7° Pisces in First House. Moon 6° Gemini in the 4th. Have to communicate personal truth of honouring our Earth and how she nourishes us despite our destructiveness and lack of respect. Leading the Green Party of Manitoba! Thank you both !

  • Sooooo many good examples of sign/house placements and how it colors the complexities of one’s personality! My favorite was the Leo rising with the sun in Capricorn in the 6th house. One of my favorite public figures is a podcast host and a musician. She’s so loud and bold like a Leo rising (podcast host, musician) but she also spent a year on a farm doing hard farm work, and advocates for oppressed groups and loves volunteering and helping others (capricorn sun in 6th house).

  • I found out about Chani’s work in early 2017. I would never have been into astrology if it wasn’t for someone like her, making it accessible and poetic and, more importantly, with a queer feminist perspective. Also, with her horoscopes based on the rising sign, astrology seemed to “work” at last 🙂 I followed some of Chani’s courses. Then, when it was time for a more theoretical framework, i found out about the astrology podcast. I binge watched it and a whole world opened up. I’m a virgo rising, sun in gemini. I have the moon + Mercury in taurus in the 9th. I remember when uranus ingressed in taurus in 2018, I became fascinated by Chani’s teaching. That’s when I really got into astrology 🙂 A big 9th house transit with the right tools 🙂💜

  • I was not sure I wanted to listen to this episode because I thought it would be a promo for the app, but it is now one of my favourites from the website. I have learned so much, specially different angles of topics I already new a bit about. It was so easy to understand. The part about birth and the ascendant was amazing too. Thank you for both of you. I am an Aquarius rising with sun and moon in Aries 🙂

  • Thank you both for a most intertaining, educationally enjoyable 3.5 hrs on this beautiful Sunday! 🫡 💓 ♍️ Rising ♌️ Sun-12th ♎️Moon-2nd Day chart I need to redo my chart with whole house system & relisten to this talk & take massive notes on everything. Seeking my last chapter of life’s purpose, been a student of astrology since childhood & have been in more of a deep dive since 2010. Things are getting more serious in all ways & I recognize this key true tool of life is playing out before me more & more! Love you both & admiringly benefit from your profound works! Thank you for such generous sharing of yourselves to the world! 💓 Awesome show! 🌟 ❣️

  • My boyfriend told me that he was born at 9:30 am (from his mom) and my original birth chart for him was Gemini rising. I just felt it wasn’t right and I asked him to look for his birth certificate. He found it and he was actually born at 9:10 am and his ascendant is Taurus rising. So twenty minutes made a huge difference. We are both Taurus rising,

  • Wonderful discussion! Thank you both for the insights. Some of the ideas you mentioned kickstarted some answers to questions I’ve been struggling with. I especially appreciated the Sun-Moon Teams discussion. For instance, how can stalwart ♑, ruled by old man Saturn, be a feminine sign? Cuz it’s on Team Moon! Cold, earthy, karmic, introspective, and emotional. When asked, “What’s your sign?” I have never been able to say, “I’m a Capricorn.” There’s so much more to it! (Full Moon above the horizon for instance.) 🔹Sun in 🐐 🔹Moon in 🦀 🔹Rising Sign in “bouncy” 🏹 So, when are you guys going to do a couple of hours on houses? 😉 A lot of what you discussed (eg: House of the Bad Daimon, the Ruling Planet’s house, and placement of the “luminaries”) really acted more as enticing tidbits rather than satisfying morsels.

  • As a beginner and someone who is dyslexic, I just realized that the rising and “east” part of the astrology chart is opposite one would think of where the “east” would be if you are looking at a North aligned map. So in essence, for my brain, it helps to think of the chart being drawn when someone is born and you draw it south facing.

  • I ordered Chani’s book after listening to this. I really enjoy you two together. Well, I m a Cancer sun, with Sagitarius Moon and Scorpio rising sign. I love starting new things, having multiple projects in mind, but at the same time, when I start something that I can be very passionate, I sustain for a long time.

  • I think when we are talking feminine vs. masculine – we tend to verbalize it within the physical realm, or tie it to just gender, but I think when it comes to astrology which is beyond it’s physical realm and into the astrological/spiritual realm its important to not dismiss the discussion but embrace that everything in the universe is both/and. We cannot have one without the other and the dance b/t the two energies his how the Universe turns and works. So, would love to hear more about the fem/masc qualities and how they related to everything working together! …. great episode – learned so much from the both of you! <3

  • I love how in depth your natal charts are. It has all the symbols I need when interpreting people’s charts and incorporating them in astro map readings Now I don’t need to go to several websites I can pull everything from your charts. I’m enjoying the free part of app so far I love how deep you go Mrs. Nicholas!!

  • 🌞♓🌛♍⬆️♊ Triple mutable & eclipse native, I constantly struggle with my identity, but don’t mind so much as long as I feel like I’m growing and becoming a better person. I have to know everything…and feel everything😅 I think my Sun is a pretty strong placement: ♓🌞 conjunct North Node & Pallas, 10th house, top of the chart exactly square AC. But I i always feel like I “dont know what to do with it”. Jupiter ♉12H near AC, with Mars nearby, opposite Pluto ♏6H. Uranus and Saturn-Neptune ♑8H. Lots of accidents…of all sorts😅🥲 Thank you both for taking the time to cover these interesting details! My Rising & Moon ♊✨♍ feel a lot more comfortable to me, like I can see their funtion and purpose and the skills they offer. I can totally see the difference between my rising vs sun vs moon. After binging, like, everything on this website lol I can see how each is expressed, how each influences the person I am overall. Learning about my rising sign ♊ vs my Sun sign ♓ was like cracking a code, I IMMEDIATELY identified, and same with with Moon♍, they all explained and clarified so much!!!

  • Chris probably missed it, the first lawsuit was won in Europe for the gay and lesbian community to break away and found it’s own non profit organization which is likely going to be a trend here now that it’s clear gay marriage is at risk. That was at the very beginning of Venus in retrograde. The astrological system I’ll be using, it’s necessary to use gender. I still need to finish it, actually. I’m actually glad this was uploaded today to remind me I still didn’t finish it. (Mutable ascendant). The way gender will be dealt with is is.. I’ll use my own. Natal virgo ascendant is feminine, its masculine expression is gemini. I plan to revisit all of the astrology podcast sign episodes to specifically pinpoint the ascensional conjunctions because I remember some from memory. Meaning, sometimes the ascensional conjunctions are described within the signs and contrary in others but still in the signification while there being instances brought up where they’re separated. I just backed away to memorize the system, but the full “sign interactions” were put off until later. Even though gender will be used, it’s actually mixed spectrum/non binary. Taurus seeming “Saturnian” would be a tie to Aquarius, virgo making “great editors and assistants etc” is libra. It’ll be wildly varied for obvious reasons. Never underestimate the power of visuals, so I won’t even try to type it out. I don’t mean any offense: 100,000’s people have died in Ukraine and possibly 1,000’s in Maui. Talks of children being burned alive in cars being held by their mother has me equally saying if we are privileged enough to whine about gender we probably need to learn to get over ourselves.

  • That was such a great episode and I admire you both so dearly. Sun – Virgo/ Moon – Pisces/ Asc- Taurus. I also have Saturn in the 1st house which I am trying to look at ways in which that placement might help me instead of how it is detrimental. I liked how you both discussed that too (ways to work with difficult placements). Thank you so much!

  • I actually think Chani is the person who made me delve into my whole chart beyond my Sun sign? Because she has always posted her Horoscopes as “Aries and Aries Rising” and encouraged people to read their rising if they know it? And once I came across that I was like “wait, what’s this..” and learned my rising and moon sign. And then everything else, and then all the houses.. so yeah, she is definitely the one who.. unlocked the whole sky for me. lmao

  • I attribute my transition from placidus to whole house to Chani during my second Saturn return when she came into my awareness. This moved my Saturn, Mercury and Mars from the 12H, which up until then had been my lived experience, into the 1H where what had been hidden suddenly showed itself and I could begin my healing journey. Thank you Chani! ❤ What a ride! ♒️ rising ♓️ Sun ♎️ Moon

  • Very enjoyable and insightful! Thank you Chris & Chani ❤❤ I have Gemini rising and Gemini moon, sun in Leo 3rd house. Emotions and intuition so present, I also have night chart and most planets in lower portion of chart. I love teaching creative writing and also visual arts. Thank you again Chris for all your shows, and concept of whole house. 🙃

  • Hi! Cancer/Sun Libra/ASC Virgo/Moon here. My sun is in the 10th house, cusping Leo and Mercury. I always said if I talked to a professional astrologist, I would ask “Why am I constantly in conflict with myself?”One moment I need to be around people, I need to be out. The next moment I want to hide away in my home for 3 months and not need that. I’ve worked in tech and article games, and now I work in beauty as a hairstylist. And now I’m planning to go back to get my undergrad for law. I feel like I’m a constantly revolving door of paradoxes. I’m harsh, than I’m sweet. I go from overindulging into things to not wanting anything to do with that. I’m an ENFP, and if you subscribe to the cusps, I am a cancer Leo cusp. So I always chalked it up to those things, plus ADHD. let’s also add the ruler of my rising is in the 9th house, so Venus and mars placed in the 9th. So I feel like I’m destined to constantly search for a deeper kind of fulfillment, always looking to reinvent myself. Reinvent society. Constant disappointment that lives within excited passion. I hate conflict, yet love to debate world issues with anyone and everyone to the point I’ve accidentally offended people and than can’t figure out how to confront the person I’ve offended. I don’t speak up when it matters in the real world- like in my job- but yet I can speak up for others

  • I’ve been into astrology since that Great Conjunction the Chani app was released under, and I have studied intently for these 3 years… And somehow I am surprised? That a Chris-Chani collab is just as listenable to me now, as an intermediate and experienced astrologer, as it would have been when I started out? I should know better by now… 😂 Thank you both for your eloquence and innovation in this ancient field of knowing and discovery 🌀♥✨

  • Virgo Sun, Scorpio Asc, and Aquarius Moon. I have learned when to connect to them….so, Virgo is also 10 house for me so I support my client with stretching, therapeutic touch, and breathwork. Then I detach which is very Aquarius so both us can return to our own frequency. Scorpio is how I am with most connections unless they are close along with researching and facing that dark part of myself in order to release it. I like the take on the 3….very interesting.

  • I’m a Sagittarius (with Taurus moon and Gemini rising. ) For me the sun sign is the most significant and important one because I can identify the most. I’m a very communicative person with high ideals who usually talks very much (Sagittariud) but on the other hand I’m often lazy and love to stay in my comfort zone. Someone who likes to feel secure and protected…the opposite of Sagittarius)

  • Really appreciated the nuanced although brief conversation about rising signs and intersectionality around who knows their exact birth time and those who do not. Esp if you think back historically, only the very rich would have known their exact time…and even today, not all cultures are centered around the clock and calendar like we are. I would love to know how birth charts are cast for those who don’t follow Gregorian calendar or don’t know when they were born.

  • I’m a Capricorn sun, Leo rising with a Sagittarius moon. Everything Chani said about needing the Leo expression alongside fulfilling work with lots of room for growth is me to a T. I can push through grueling work to get to a place where I teach others or work on projects, but if I’m not making the upward progress, I’m leaving. 😅

  • Ive often wondered about the pre-birth hours thing…my mother had a very tramatic almost 70 hr labor. We both almost died. Aries Sun/6th House Also in 6th- Mercury, Saturn, Venus Rx, Chiron, North Node…6 placements in 6th house…Born on the 6th day of the month. 666 on the Holiest Day- Easter Sunday Baby! 😂 Sag Moon/2nd House/Gibbious (Mars too) Scorpio Risisng (Neptune) Night Baby And quite honestly…I am OVER all those 6th house placements themes!

  • Fantastic episode, especially the part about the ascendant! Because of the nature of the zodiac, the ascendant is Mars/Aries energy. It’s cardinal and delegates to the rest of the chart. Which makes sense as Aries is considered the baby, new life full of zeal and promise. Also the part about going from the 12th house to the 1st. That has a Scorpionic undertone to it. Transformation from the shadows of the womb into the light of consciousness.

  • Loved this article as well as both of your passion for Astrology. Thank you both for the work you do. 🙏💜 Question for whomever wants to reapond.. lol. In the following example chart, which Luminary would be more of an influence on the native? . . . Chart is of the Night Sect . . . ASD / Sun are in the 1st House of Aquarius (Saturn and Mercury are also in the 1st) . . . Moon is in the 4th house of Taurus.

  • I’ve now often fornulated that: Rising ↗️ is the patty in the 🍔: the meat of it, Sun 🌞 is the bun, Moon 🌙 is the spread, the rest are various condiments, take your pick! The Midheaven is the 10th house bring-home-the 🥓 and the North Node is the 🧀 on top! (Mercury & Venus are pickles and 🍅 and some of the outer planets, along with the rest, are that lettuce that slides the whole thing away….Mars is the jalapeño 🌶!)

  • Congratulations to you and your family Chani 💜💚💜💚💜💚 I have to switch off at 35mins for an appointment and I’m just blubbering. My births for my babies were rough, my second son was truely life or death. Then he was born with 3 personal planets and asc in Scorpio. Each quote so far has brought me to tears. I’m so happy for you. Thank you!! I needed these words this morning 🥹

  • im a virgo sun but aqua rising (and gemini moon but thats not important to the story) and i wished my friend, an aquarius, happy birthday and he said “thanks, you too!” and i was like “no” and he was like “omg i could have sworn you were an aquarius” and i told him i would change my birthday for him but i thought about that after learning i was an aquarius rising and thought it was funny. also last time i told someone im aqua rising she said “no wonder you’re so weird!” lol

  • This podcast is incredibly affirming! Thank you both. ❤ Living a life of the “unbelievably intense” in every practical mundane-daily and esoterically multidimensional sense has been something I have tried and tried to hide from, deny, and oppress for decades. But when my health was severely threatened for many years, relinquishing the old narratives of normal, sane, acceptable was the very thing that saved my life (and my child’s life). 12th house Sun & Mercury (R) in Gemini has me consistently doing quantum healing work (for others thru my own physicality) as my consciousness travels around the world and dimensionally in connection to others. With Neptune in 6th House Sagittarius, no drugs are needed for these constant barrages of transcendental experiences. Zero degrees in MC, AC, and NNode require total surrender to these requirements of uncertainty and extreme adversities. And so much more… It’s definitely a chart for the mystics and philosophers to have a gaggle over.

  • I am a Virgo Rising, with the Sun in my 6th house. My daughter who is my 1st born, was born on my Ascendant at the same degree with just a 7 min difference!!! Her natal Sun is also in the 6th house conjunct Saturn at the same degree, with Saturn which is the Ruler of my Sun! And we both have our Natal Moon’s in Scorpio, Just 4 degrees apart! We are usually going through the same m “Perfection Year” too! 🤪 And my Son has the same natal Sun as I do!! He has his Ascendant Ruler Venus, in a very loose Conjunction with the Sun! His Moon is in Capricorn, making his Sun & Moon both ruled by Saturn!! He is 10 years old picked Saturn to do a school project on, because he said he loves Saturn. Well.. of course his natal Saturn is the only planet in his 7th house!! We both share having Saturn in Scorpio, square our ♒️ Sun 😅 lol. AMAZING!!

  • 34:27 this is very interesting to me. You guys explaining up to this point is reminding me of my struggles with understanding these aspects of my chart. My sun is in the 12th house in Capricorn, and that is taking some time to fully understand and embody. My rising sign is also Capricorn, so that’s my ascendent and also the ruler of my 1st house (I’m using the placidus house system). But Aquarius is intercepted in the first house and holds Jupiter, Venus, Mars, and Uranus there, and then my moon in Pisces is also in the first house. If the first house is the steering wheel of our life and gives us info into who we are, what does this mean for me?? 😭

  • Hey CHRIS, I can’t locate an email to forward this to you and Austin, but wanted to forward you a link to a paper that I became aware of on this morning’s SuspiciousObservers Aug 27 YT article..I can’t figure out how to send it directly, sorry! The paper is very interesting from a mechanism view on astrology, I thought, being on “zodiacal light” and the dust particles’ interplanetary intereactions…

  • Thank you. I will have a look at the book ‘ You Were Born For This’ by Chani Nickolas with a view of possible purchase. I often find that the use of terms like masculine & feminine is an issue in regards of modern culture from a viewpoint of possibility upsetting, But maybe a description of what those terms actually meant for ancient cultures might be appropriate ? I will use the terms Yin / Yang for my Tai Chi students but give a description of what that means.

  • It would be amazing to have a teacher like both of these 2 awesome humans. Scorpio ascendant, 12th house Sun, Mercury, Pluto, NN (and 4 asteroids for extra spice.lol) Sun conjunct Pluto less than 1 degree orb Pluto conjunct NN less than one degree orb, with 9th house Stellium Cancer Moon, Mars and Jupiter. Uranus in the 1st house. I have had a weird, TOUGH dark life, yet blessed with the ability to see beauty everywhere. I inherently know that being a scorpio rising is the reason I am still here. I don’t say that lightly. If a person was the yin yang symbol, it would be me. Lol I’m a prophetic dreamer, claircognizant, and have had alot of supernatural experiences as well. Everything I’ve learned about astrology in the last few years has been so profoundly accurate of my first 40 years of life. I felt so validated and seen. I cried idk how many times. Astrology really saved me and the timing in which I dove into it, couldn’t have been more perfect. I’m very much a living expression of my chart, and its not easy. Sometimes I feel like a Padawan in desperate need of a Jedi’s training. Lol Its such beautiful and valuable knowledge. The more and more I learn, the more accurate and profound it is. Any thoughts I may have had in the beginning of potential confirmation bias were quickly thrown out. This was a great episode, as usual. So grateful for this website, Chris sharing his extensive insightful and applicable knowledge, and all of the amazing guests. Astrology is absolutely mind blowing.

  • With all respect, I thought I’d be perusal a deep dive on the big 3. Instead, the guest just completely bashed the 2 luminaries, calling them underrated and she didn’t even know what to say about them, giving me the idea that she doesn’t understand, in a deep sense, what they are about. I noticed Chris politely trying to give the Sun the due respect, talking about the subject of dark and light and life on the planet being majorly influenced by it, but the guest didn’t get the point, I guess.

  • 1:12:28 Omg! This is me, Leo Rising, Cap Sun in the 6th (Whole Sign). I have a 5 planet stellium in the sixth house so I find it a bit difficult to relate to my rising sign. My moon is also quincunx Ascendant 🙁 I think the only planet that actually contacts my Ascendant is Opposing Venus, which isn’t a nice aspect anyway

  • 1:25:48 welcome to my destiny. Yes it’s all true, your amazing and this is fascinating being a literal architect for unfolding secrets weaved through Squares Folding on Top, or Over, one another. Neptune and Venus Save the day with Mars and Moon realizing their “Mix-up” that they switched or stole roles of who the True Man(ner) Does it (fester) To Confine you in order to Confirm to get out of the fallen 12H, in order to Grow Into the Hidden (Reason) 12H, To BRING Light TO the Darkest poets of ourvFortunevthat must be UnEarthed to Find > it always sits on the surface, and other people will always notice, making a comment = giving voice to from the external reflection of the two in their bubble…Mirrors are ManDitory, As Others Are Necessary, in order to See Self, As you’ve built layers over…Until It’s on the Surface and when it Cuts, Your Eyes Automatically Cry. ❤ amazing conversation, brilliant 1:56:49

  • My main problem with astrology is the fact I have a twin brother born 10 minutes after I was. We are absolutely nothing alike and this I can’t realign with what I know about who I am and who he is. Sometimes I think he’s the one Pisces fish and I’m the other. ♓️ And then it’s like no shag that ~I have my 2 fish. Then I think he might have been the afterbirth come to life. I’m confused about how 2 people can be so different who are burn practically the same time. I’m a Pisces sun. ♉️ Taurus moon. Leo ♌️ ascendant …I’ve looked up both of our charts and nothing changed in those 10 minutes. Can this be explained. Thanks!!!!!

  • Since the signs are defined by the seasons, the sign of the Ascendant can only be known if we know the Sun sign. Basically, the entire zodiac exist only in reference to the sign where the Sun is. The only real zodiac sign is the one where the Sun is at, all of the other signs are imaginary, since we are doing tropical and not sidereal.

  • It’s such a shame that wokeness has crept into astrology discourse. Finding the terms “masculine” and “feminine” problematic as symbolic interpretations is hilarious when taken in the greater context of all of the analogies used when describing astrology and all of its multitudinous characteristics. Especially when people’s gender identity is disproportionately (99. 9%>.01%)aligned with their biological sex at birth, it just feels so silly to throw out really useful, relatable, age old and archetypal metaphors to appease and pander to such a small percentage of people. Great episode regardless, but the elephant in the room is pretty hard to ignore and takes away from the overall effectiveness of the interpretation and analysis of these three major parts of astrology. I’ve Pluto on my ascendant in Scorpio opposing Mars in Taurus in my 7th, so I’m an iconolast at the best of times…but I feel this needed to be said.
