What Term Would You Use To Describe An Omen Interpreter?

The text emphasizes the importance of not allowing anyone to engage in witchcraft, divination, sorcery, or omen interpretation. Omens are signs or events believed to have prophetic or supernatural significance and have been interpreted throughout history. These omens can be seen in various forms such as natural phenomena, strange birth defects, or animals acting in unexplainable ways.

Diversifiers, who use various methods to interpret these omens, are considered specialists in the field. They often use artificial methods, such as clay models of sheep livers, to determine how a querent should proceed. Prophets interpret omens or declare something to be an omen, making prophecies using evidence from an omen. Clairvoyants, who can see hidden things in the present, can also interpret omens.

Omens can be seen in various ways, such as observing the movement of animals or the quick and erratic movement of the wind upon trees. They can be considered a bad omen if a black cat crosses your path or if it rains. However, an omen cannot be considered something because it might be a mere phantom of human thought, a dream, or vision.

In conclusion, the text emphasizes the importance of not allowing anyone to engage in witchcraft, divination, sorcery, omen interpretation, or engage in witchcraft. It also highlights the importance of not allowing anyone to engage in these practices, as they can lead to negative consequences.

What is omen interpretation?

An omen is an event or happening that is considered a sign of something to come, often associated with bad luck or bad luck. Omens are often misunderstood due to their association with superstition, but their interpretation varies across cultures and countries. In some cultures, an ominous sign may signify good luck, while in others, it may signify a lifetime of good luck. Oscar Wilde, in his famous quote, argued that there is no such thing as an omen, as destiny is too wise or cruel. Synonyms for omens include augur, auspicate, betoken, bode, forecast, foreshadow, foretell, portend, predict, prefigure, presage, and prognosticate.

What are omens alchemist?

In The Alchemist, omens are symbols of future events, often found in the Language of the World, which represents the interconnectedness of all things and their communication or interaction with each other.

What is divination called?

Divination, also known as soothsaying, is a practice that involves determining the hidden significance or cause of events, sometimes foretelling the future, using natural, psychological, and other techniques. Found in all civilizations, divination is most commonly practiced in contemporary mass society through horoscopes, astrology, crystal gazing, tarot cards, and the Ouija board. In ancient Roman culture, divination was focused on discovering the will of the gods.

Today, divinatory practices and beliefs are more extensive than discerning the will of the gods and the fatalistic view of the human condition that inspired early Mediterranean religious thought. In some societies, divination is a practice that many people frequently resort to, but never in terms of discovering the will of the gods. The idea of godly providence controlling human affairs in such societies is unusual, although humbler spirits are often thought to intervene in troublesome ways.

Divination is universally concerned with practical problems, private or public, and seeks information upon which practical decisions can be made. The mantic (divinatory) arts are numerous, and a broad understanding can only be gained by surveying actual practices in various cultural settings.

What is the meaning of Mariologist?

Mariology is the Christian theological study of Mary, the mother of Jesus, and seeks to relate doctrine or dogma about Mary to other faith doctrines, such as those concerning Jesus and notions of redemption, intercession, and grace. Christian Mariology aims to place the role of the historic Mary in the context of scripture, tradition, and the teachings of the Church on Mary. In terms of social history, Mariology can be broadly defined as the study of devotion to and thinking about Mary throughout the history of Christianity.

There exist various Christian and non-Christian views on Mary as a figure, ranging from the focus on the veneration of Mary in Roman Catholic Mariology to criticisms of “mariolatry” as a form of idolatry. There are also distinctive approaches to the role of Mary in Lutheran Mariology and Anglican Marian theology.

The most substantial developments in Mariology in recent centuries have taken place within Roman Catholic Mariology, with Eastern Orthodox concepts and veneration of Mary being integral to the rite as a whole, expressed mainly in liturgy. The Orthodox do not see a need for a separate academic discipline of Mariology, as the Mother of God is seen as the self-evident apogee of God’s human creation.

Do Muslims believe in omen?

Do Muslims believe in omen?

Bad omens, such as black cats, crows, and certain numbers, are associated with bad luck and misfortune worldwide. Muslims do not believe in luck, bad omens, or superstitions, as they are considered a form of shirk. However, they do believe in good omens and being optimistic, as encouraged in the sunnah. The Prophet (ﷺ) said that there is no spreading of infection and no evil omen, and he was pleased by a good omen. Good omens are permitted as long as they are positive and linked back to Allah (ﷻ).

Good omens can be interpreted as positive signs that increase positive thoughts of Allah (ﷻ). An example of this is the treaty of Hudaybiyah, where Suhail ibn Amr came to negotiate with Muslims on behalf of the polytheists. The Prophet (ﷺ) interpreted the name Suhail as a good sign and said, “May Allah make easy your affairs for you”. To follow in the footsteps of the Prophet (ﷺ), we should let go of superstitious beliefs related to Friday 13th and focus on the good around us and link it back to Allah (ﷻ).

What is the difference between an omen and a divination?

What is the difference between an omen and a divination?

Divination is a universal phenomenon found in almost all cultures, and it was prevalent in the ancient world. Written evidence for divination dates back to the early 2nd millennium in Mesopotamia and is attested to various parts of the ancient world, including the Near East, Egypt, the Levant, Greece, Italy, and China. Despite being forbidden for religious or political reasons in some ancient societies, divination remained pervasive in the Roman Empire and continued after the advance of Christianity.

Research into divination began in the late 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century, with many primary sources from Mesopotamia, Greece, and China published for the first time. However, interest in divination grew again from the late 1980s onward, with an abundance of research and the publication of new primary sources.

Divination is a means of gaining knowledge that is not obtainable by normal modes of investigation, serving to handle uncertainty, warn or reassure a person or a whole people about what the future will bring, and illuminate past events. It can be divided into “artificial” and “natural” divination, with natural divination referring to prophecy and other kinds of theophany revealed in plain language or comprehensible visions. Artificial divination relies on a hermeneutic apparatus, which can be complex or simple code, sometimes combined with the diviner’s intuition.

In the early 21st century, there has been a movement toward considering divination and prophesy as two sides of the same coin, in line with Plato and Cicero. Prophecy is left out of consideration in this context.

Divination is a cultural activity that serves multiple purposes and is attested to in a myriad of variations. The history of their manifestations, development, and cross-fertilization in the ancient world is still a work in progress.

What is the meaning of omenology?

The field of omenology encompasses the study of omens in all their manifestations.

What is a good omen called?

The term “omen” is used to describe a positive or favorable sign in a variety of ways. These include “good omen,” “auspicious,” “good sign,” and “lucky omen.”

Is believing in omens a sin?

Is believing in omens a sin?

Omens are believed to be signs that predict future events, and they were sent by God in the Bible. However, the declaring and interpreting of omens are generally condemned in the Bible as they are fake. The Bible states that there shall not be anyone who makes their son or daughter pass through the fire, practices witchcraft, soothsayers, or interprets omens, or is a sorcerer.

Examples of how omens can impact one’s life include reading passages about hell when one sins, paying attention to house creaks when they have a guilty conscience, and clouds blocking the sun when they know they sinned. It is not necessary for an omen to know one sinned, but it does mean that one needs to make changes in their life to avoid sin.

Godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, while the sorrow of the world produces death. The diligence, clearing of oneself, indignation, fear, vehement desire, zeal, and vindication produced by sorrowing in a godly manner are evident in II Corinthians 7:10-11.

What is a Roman omen interpreter?

The Roman religion was polytheistic, encompassing a multitude of deities and the use of omens as a means of divination to predict future events. The augur, the sole individual trained in the interpretation of bird omens, was the exclusive interpreter.

What does God say about interpreting omens?

What does God say about interpreting omens?

Leviticus 19:26 emphasizes that Christians should not interpret omens, as it is not encouraged in Scripture to interpret the will of God out of daily circumstances. Christians often describe favorable circumstances as “open doors” and try to feel at ease moving forward, assuring themselves that the easier or clearer path must be what God intends for them. However, there is nothing in Scripture that encourages this, and they may be unsure of their actions and fear that they are out of God’s will.

The Lord rests his favor on us through faith in Jesus Christ’s atoning work, and if God gave us his own son, he will graciously give us all things. We cannot increase or decrease his favor by reading our circumstances, as his favor is not grounded in our ability to discern the omens but in Christ’s love and giving himself for us.

To make the best decision, given what we know, and move on, God does not hold us accountable for what he hasn’t revealed to us. We should examine our motives honestly, bring Scripture to bear on our decision, and be constant in prayer. At some point, with only partial knowledge, we must pull the trigger, as we are safe as children of God, not because we successfully interpreted the omens.

  • It’s SO SO refreshing to finally hear a modern pop song that isn’t just two minutes of the chorus repeating. I feel like in the past several years singers (especially singers that have come through fame on Tik Tok by only capitalizing on their chorus) have just been so focused on just making a good chorus for the sake of Tik Tok use and neglecting the rest of the song. It’s such a breath of fresh air to have a song that has a bridge, post-chorus, and a second verse of actual substance. You can tell she makes music to MAKE MUSIC, not to profit.

  • the thing that gets me about this chorus is that it doesn’t really sound angry or accusatory to me, at least not entirely. the first time i heard it it sounded, to me, like the singer is speaking from experience— like she knows exactly what’s going on in her lover’s head because she’s been there, she’s done that whole song and dance of living in denial as long as she could. that really got to me, but maybe I’m just imagining it

  • I’m not a lesbian (heterosexual man and a Marine veteran) but this is a real bop, y’all. I love this song so much. And I’m learning so much too! Didn’t know what compshet was or the Stardew Valley community until I started reading through these comments. Hope yall can all find someone that calls you “babe” and good luck!

  • Woah. Not me JUST realizing what the lyrics mean and suddenly having to pull my car over and sob for an hour. This literally is my experience. The love of my life just couldn’t deal with being a gay man and after 3 years of a closeted relationship with him, he broke it off out of the blue and moved back to his hometown. I found out last year he got married to his old high school girlfriend and then ended his own life a year later. I’m still devastated.

  • I am absolutely not the type of person this music was made for. I’m a straight teenage boy, and I solely listen to metal and occasionally industrial aand punk stuff. But holy shit, this is so fire. Theres like straught up crack in these lyrics its insane, I can’t stop listening to it. Can lesbians never stop making bomb ass music please?

  • The lyrics…FUCK. I’m a straight dude, but grew up with gay dads. My mom and dad were childhood “sweethearts,” got married, had three kids…and then my dad came out of the closet when I was 5 or 6, but I remember meeting his partner (who would become dad #2) while I was still in a stroller. Makes me think about what my dad went through, and his own denial. Thanks, Chappel, for making me feel intense empathy.

  • The love of my life, the one that got away, broke it off because her family didn’t approve of same-sex relationships. I’ve only heard this song twice, but the time I heard it once, it felt like I knew all the lyrics…like I’d ALWAYS known the lyrics. They’re ripped right out of my heart and history. Rarely have I felt so seen and understood as this, and this sone is healing a place I didn’t know I was hurting. Thank you, Chappell. Thank you very much.

  • I’m so happy 🥰 it’s happened, I’m 38 and I grew up listening to coded lesbian love songs from the 80s and 90s. And here is Chappell Roan singing what I always dreamed would play on the radio, what I longed for in other artist, the silly songs I’d write and bin knowing the world would crucify me for it. songs, what I wished other peoples lyrics would say. She is singing our past love experinces, how it felt each lesbian dynamic, how love happens and all its intricacy. She’s the first! All those artist who dreamed they could sing as open as she is. ❤ What a phenomenal and beautiful change to the world and art 🖼️

  • This song is making me sob. I was in an emotional affair with a married closeted bisexual woman for years. At first we were just good friends but eventually it became a really obvious emotional affair. We are no longer friends but she made me realize so many things about myself. The nothing more than his wife really got me. I miss her a lot but she was part of my neptunic/lesbian awakening and so is this song.

  • INSANE. NOSTALGIC. HEALING. NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD LAND BACK HERE INTO THIS MUSIC AND THESE EARLY 2000s VISUALS AND PURE GIRLY CRUSHING-HARD BEDROOM POP WITH ALL THE HOOKS AND UPBEAT OF A MID-TO-LATE 2000s KATY PERRY. Chappel, you are stunningly talented. somehow spoke to both my childhood and my teenage years with this. thank you for a gift

  • I still remember the girl i’ve spent my middle school life with in japan. We were friends since elementary, but the countless times I’ve called her ‘my angel’ ‘sweetheart’ was unforgettable. I always said those words in unserious manner but it was just a cover up to not make things awkward. I really liked her, her short hair and soft demeanor was so beautiful. I ‘happened’ to like androgynous looking boys with similar atmosphere as hers after I had to change school and got separated from her. However, I always got uncomfortable whenever I date those men like her and their ‘male’ side appeared, I didn’t know why. I’m Japanese, so same-sex romance is forbidden, I didn’t even know it existed until 2 years ago. Now I know who I am. Dear Chihiro, if you happened to be in same shoe as me and reading this, I loved you and I still do. I know that you were diligent young child and was interested in studying english. I hope you are here.

  • The line about being nothing more than his wife, you made me realize something about my current relationship, and how this isn’t what I want. I realized how badly I’ve been allowing comphet to mess with my mind, and that I should just do what I want, if happiness is what I want, then I shouldn’t let people thinking that a girl liking, or rather loving another girl is wrong ruin that. I love girls, I want to kiss girls, I want to be with girls, and I want to spend my whole life with a girl. I’m a lesbian ☺️❤ edit: AAAA thank you so much for the support!! i appreciate it!!! i was able to get out of my relationship however my ex didn’t react too well to it, and sadly he bothered me for days until finally accepting it today. 😓😓 But, I’m glad that’s over with, hopefully everything goes well for him, because things have been going well for me now ❤❤ many reconnections after officially coming out and I’m so happy about it!! I did not realize how badly the relationship was affecting me until after. haha 😆 it’s all looking fine now though, hope this peace continues, and i hope anyone else in my situation also finds their escape and peace soon 💗💗💗 Happy Pride!! 🎉🌈

  • My god. The bridge for this song actually gives me chills and gets me to tear up nearly every time I hear it. To me, this song just gives off this feeling of painful clarity, of the cold air on your face and tears in your eyes (during the chorus and bridge especially). This song just feels so moving and emotional for a reason I can’t fully explain. Also “I just need a little loving, I just need a little air” THAT LINE KILLS ME EVERY TIME I HEAR ITTTTT

  • Ms Roan has such an exquisite talent to express the emotions in a direct way. I am a 55 year old man and this is not usually what I listen to, but I am drawn to it probably because this situation is something I had come understand recently. A dear friend of mine, whom I have met for more than twenty years is getting married in september and I wish happiness for him, but also how many more failed marriages does he need to have to realize that he is in love with me? Signs of affection are obvious, he always took a lot of time to spend with me (even when we didn’t live toghether), he looks at me in a loving way. And I did things for him that I wouldn’t do for anyone else. I have met him for twenty years, we’ve been through so much. We lived toghether, caught up in messy situations and came out alive. His eyes don’t lie, nor his body language, he’s been in love with me for a long time and so I am. I don’t see a reason why he would not see how evident I am in my undeniable attraction to him (though he always had a problem to see something very obvious). As these song says, i am cutting it off even if he calls it love. I am moving out of town to spend my retirement peaceful. Ms Roan, you have great talent and I Hope your career is full of Success, congratulations on a wonderful song. Update on the 3rd of July at 23:36: I did it. I told him how I feel. Update 4th of september: Well, I’ve moved out of the city with an old friend of mine (whom the people of our town confuse as my mother).

  • This is EXACTLY what I feel in my little Italian Christian town. I’m looking at her, she is looking at me, but she is with HIM. And it just breaks my heart EDIT: just for the hate comments (I didn’t know this comment had this many likes/comments) she KISSED ME fir the first time, not the other way around, we were together for 1/2 month. In August I went away to visit my family in England and when school started again she started ignoring me. I tried to talk to her but she told me that she never felt anything for me (I repeat she made the first moves with me) and next thing I know is she got herself a boyfriend. But I knew she doesn’t like boys. So this is why my heart broke. Because I fell in love with her, but now I don’t know what to do. Thanks for the support and kindness by the way. I wish a happy life to everyone.❤️❤️

  • I once liked a girl in 9th grade. She liked me too, but we never really clicked. I was too scared of people’s judgements. And because I’m too young to realize that it’s love, I just stopped myself from pursuing her, because I thought it’s not really serious. Now I’m in college, I still love her. And she’s happy now with her special someone. I wish I told her that I love her when she cried and told me to speak up.

  • It’s such a magnificent song. I’m 40 and I love love love this. I tried to stop the world just to stop the feelings and ended up with a tumour at 28 Had my pelvis reconstructed twice to remove the tumours and I’ll never be able to walk properly again. You can’t stop the world It will make you physically ill as well as spiritually and mentally. You are who you are and you are more BEAUTIFUL than words can describe.

  • I’m gunna be honest, I’m a straight 25 year old male who is married with a lovely wife. I have tattoos on my chest, neck, arms and legs. I have 1 inch gauges and facial piercings. I grew up in a heavy metal house hold. Been to numerous heavy metal concerts and have it heavily in my music rotation. I’m a delivery driver at jimmy John’s and one day, I heard this song on the over head speakers in our store. Ever since then I’ve been HOOKED on this shit. My secret “white girl” song used to be paparazzi by Lady Gaga. But this easily took 1st place. I play this non stop on my deliveries. Point is, you could be any race, any sex, have any sexual preferences, and background, any aesthetic to actually love and appreciate this song.

  • For anyone who wants to play this on guitar, here’s how 🙂 – Standard Tuning – No Capo – – Structure of the Song – Verse, Pre-Chorus, Chorus, Verse, Pre-Chorus, Chorus, Bridge, Chorus – Verse & Chorus – G, A, D Bm For each chord, strum: ↓↓↓↓↓↓↓ ↓↑ – Pre-Chorus & Bridge – Em (x4) For each chord, strum: ↓↓↓↓↓↓↓ ↓↑ Hope this helps out! • It’s so wonderful having such an amazing talent proudly representing our community on a global stage! Chappell embodies the perfect amalgamation of fun pop star and deep, true artist in such a lovely, unique package. If Tori Amos and Ani Difranco had a baby, they’d have named her Chappell- and she’s incredible.🙌🏼

  • Fine. Make me, a middle aged woman, sob great gobs of tears while remembering my very, very first love and heartbreak. I don’t need to be professional on my lunch break anyway. We met off line and she moved to my town for college. We had an amazing year. Then she…just disappeared. I tried to be patient since I knew she was having troubles with family. I wanted to support her and be there for her. She would get even more stressed out so I backed off. Then her telephone stopped working. (I just dated myself lmfao) I went to her place several times. No one answered the door until someone finally did. A man. I asked if he knew (girlfriend) is okay. Is she home? He asked who I was and I said her girlfriend. He just kind of blinked in confusion and said something like, “no. Not possible. I’m her fiance. We’ve been together for 3 years and getting married in two months.” I legit do not remember what happened after that or even the rest of that year. Nothing.

  • The way the song slows down at the end to show she literally HAS stopped the world is actually genius, what an incredible way to show how much shes repressing it all. Its as if the song itself is the feeling shes describing. It reaches a high, then slows down considerably and forcefully, bringing the song, and the feeling, to an end. Or as much of an end as you can get. After all, you cant exactly un-listen to it, so even after the song has ended you’ll never forget how it made you feel.

  • I lived my childhood with my mothers friends daugther. We were born at the same year, and we followed the footsteps to become bestfriends like ours mothers, but something happened in the middle of it. She would come to my city to spend the summer and that was my favorite time of the year, we lived next to each other so every day at 7am we would open our windows and smile to each other. We speand 15 years like that, until she stopped coming, she started high school and made another friends, focused on joining a nice college and found a boyfriend. I miss her dearly, and today i can admit that i in fact loved her, i didn’t know at the time but now its clear. Ana if happen to see this, i wish you all the best in your life, my best years where with you by my side, you are the best memory i have in life.

  • Wherever you are now Michelle, good luck babe. For all that you dragged me through your closet, for all the times you wouldn’t call me baby back, for all the ways we were so good but your faith told you good was bad- good luck babe. I told you so. This song makes me want to seethe and cry all at once

  • I love how the end of the bridge gets stripped but instead of a music production build-up, she just suddenly belts the last “i told you so.” Then, the last chorus stays the same production-wise, but we have her just pouring her vocals in the background. No need for an extravagant final chorus production; SHE IS the extravagant-final-chorus-production.

  • Wow… I just heard this song on the radio today, and the chorus was so catchy and got me emotional a bit, I had to look it up to listen to it again. Listening to it and seeing the lyrics really made me cry! The way she sings about seeing a loved one make decisions while to not being true to themself combined with the catharsis, sadness, but also acceptance in her voice made me depressed…

  • i know that this likely wasn’t chappell’s exact intention when writing the lyrics, but to me this song perfectly encapsulates the feeling of being with a girl who’s still figuring out her sexuality and using you to experiment. not that there’s anything wrong with figuring yourself out, of course. it just doesn’t change the fact that it still hurts…

  • In a lot of the pop music I’ve heard over the years, the bridge often feels like this compulsory, dull, and predictable part of the song. In this song, the bridge is so important to the story and it’s sung with such powerful vocals that it gives me goosebumps every time. This is how you write a modern pop classic with staying power.

  • I dont write comnents on YouTube or anywhere but i discoverd Chappel few days ago and not only im IN LOVE and obsessed but its the first time i heard a song that tell my story. Im a gay man and my fisrt love was a Christian boy who never been with a man, i was his first,he was also in love but couldn’t go on becouse of his religious beliefs.the lyrics hit so hard.

  • God, the passion and emotion in her voice as she sings just really hits me. Every time I listen to this song the urge to cry gets even stronger especially every time i hear the “you can say it’s just the way you are” lyrics, I’ve never listened to a song that genuinely makes me wanna cry like this it’s so beautiful 🩵

  • I tried to stop the world many times, I even thought about and tried stopping my own world a couple times, I couldn`t deal with the idea of not being what I thought I was supposed to be, but I guess I wasn`t “lucky” enough to make the change and now I have a boyfriend perusal the world keep spinning in the best place I could ever be! Thanks for this work of art in the form of a song!

  • This song is not my story at all, though it’s touching. I love it. I love how different and creative it is coming out of an ocean of music that all seems to sounds so similar to each other. When an artist makes something truly unique and inspiring, it’s hard for me not to notice and appreciate it. This song’s been stuck in my head for days, and I don’t want it to go anywhere. Thank you Chappell Roan!

  • I know this song is about lesbian comphet but I’m a bi woman and this is definitely making me have a lot of feeling about all the years I wasted not even CONSIDERING that I might be queer even though looking back it was so obvious and I mourn the missed chances with women in my past. I know it’s not the same as a bi woman and will never been the same but I just still cry when I think about always knowing something wasn’t quite “right” with me and ignoring it for so long. It’s like half of me was missing. But yeah this song, despite what the literal meaning is, is making me have a lot of feelings about my queer journey.

  • Just recently found out about this song, made me tear up, but it’s happy tears. I’m asexual, and I just recently broke up ex, I didn’t want to rob him of the life that he wanted, like starting a family and such. He understood, and we are currently friends at the moment. I’m just so happy I fully went through to living my truth.

  • I’m a 36 year old gay man and I’m happily ok with that, I’ve been in relationships with a couple of people who are not comfortable with their sexuality, it hurts and destroyed me, I’ve never heard an artist sing about it, it means so much, I’m sure there are hundreds of thousands if not millions of people who can relate, you are not just iconic, I’m too old now but you’re hope, you will help so many people, thank you Chappell Roan, I love you ❤

  • I’m a 63 year old semi retired straight guy, married for almost 45 years,ex cop, current security officer and can say this song has such a catchy beat, and the lyrics really can be taken with just a little change to apply to me,married for some time, but wonders about things missed,as well as learning about how it relates to non hetero females.Hope yall don’t mind me liking this a guilty pleasure, just don’t tell my wife!

  • Heard the chorus to this in the background of a Youtube Short and found it so evocative, had to check out the original song. I wasn’t expecting it to be so good, this is one of the most well-crafted pop songs I’ve heard in years – verses, chorus, bridge, and the breakdown of the final chorus fit together like a puzzle. The storytelling in the lyrics is clear, concise and unforced. The decomposing of the final chorus was a brilliant final touch. The song is so short yet conveys its statement powerfully during that time – I just wish it was longer, I think it could have been even more impactful with a longer runtime. But overall Roan Chappell is definitely an artist I’ll be looking into more.

  • My dad passed on 30th July 2024, the last talk we had was about how I’d been having dreams that whole month of him passing – the wake up crying, panicking kinds of dreams over and over. I’d never dreamt of him dying because he was built like a brick house and so strong, I thought he’d even outlive me. I told him everything then that I loved him, thought he was the best, how much he meant to me and that I didn’t care about anything in the world but wanted to see and talk to him, how I appreciated the way he tried his best as a dad – just how much I loved him literally saying I want to tell you and not wait until you’re in the ground to regret it. We planned to go hiking and fishing in the summer (he worked away from home), then he passed a week later. Dad would have loved this song, and it feels so deeply close to how I’ve felt after losing him. Its bittersweet having something remind me of him and knowing I’ll never get to share it.

  • Artists, especially musical artists are blessed to vent their feelings and make millions of people understand exactly the pain they’re going through. There are so many people in the comments who are straight, but they heavily sympathize this song. This level of sympathy wouldn’t have been this extreme if it was a lesbian giving a rant on social media, or a manga of some sort. It reminds of the quote from carseatheadrest, “no one cares what you are saying unless you are speaking in code”

  • This song hits in a particular way for me, I’m a sapphic transfem so i never really had a denial phase about liking women but i think what hits harder for me is the chorus going “you can kiss a hundred boys in bars, shoot another shot just to stop the feeling.” I tend to use alcohol and male validation/hookups almost as a form of s/h to distract myself from whatever might be going on in my brain on a given day, to help dull the intense feelings and mood cycles i get into sometimes. It still hits about all the gay girlies in denial I’ve flirted with of course, but that secondary meaning really just hits me right in the stomach

  • I’ve never felt like I don’t belong in a comment section until now, this is nothing like my life I just find the song to be beautiful and it truly hurts knowing people aren’t able to be themselves. For what it’s worth, if you find this, I love you for who you are and you should too. Maybe it doesn’t matter as much as hearing it from who you want to hear it from but sometimes what we want isn’t what we need.

  • I’m an older Gen X straight woman, and I love this song. Similar vibe to many of the songs I loved in high school in the 80s. Also powerful lyrics. Unrequited love is so bittersweet and heart wrenching no matter where you fall on the sexuality spectrum.🌈 A movie recommendation on a similar but different theme: Kissing Jessica Stein. It has been awhile since I’ve watched it and I don’t know if it has stood the rest of time but it caused a bit of a stir back in the day. 💋💋

  • Definitely sobbing to this song for idk years…😞 (Incoming rant, my bad) The love of my life, the light of my life, my compass, my everything—had just left me quite recently because she and her family’s religious. Because it isn’t “okay” for two girls to love each other or generally, same-sex couples, she had chosen to let go of whatever we were. She searched desperately for anything in the bible that says that we’re okay—for anything that says that we can be together but unfortunately, she had found nothing. Even so, I don’t think I’ll ever hate her for it—I won’t ever have the strength to hate her and I will continue to love her unconditionally. Ps. Ilysm Chapell Roan!! Tysm, srs. This is a masterpiece. So relatable that it felt like the song had somehow filled the void in me. So gut wrenchingly perfectly made it got me flooding the whole city. And most importantly, the song honestly saved me somehowxit really comforts me 💖 (sorry for the cheesy ahh)

  • as an gay teenager who has not come out, and has never been in a realtionship, this really touchs my soul. I can not stop listening, its just so good. It is currently 12 o’clock at night and I’m screaming this on top of my lungs. Jamming out in my room. I can not express how good this song is! I also dont really listen to pop, i listen to KrushKlub (odetari) but this, this is just pore gold.

  • I loved a few girls who ended up marrying men even though they made me feel so special, but it was the southern US, I should’ve seen it coming and that’s just so sad. But I met a girl on twitter who I became best friends with, and I flew out to Canada to meet her, and I fell in love with her. But this time, she loved me back. We’re married now 🙂 5 years in September! It’ll happen for all of you beautiful babes! 🩷

  • I am a straight male and I know what this is about. it is very touching. Even if I don’t experience the exact same things this song is about I recently had a heartbreaking break up after 3 years of relationship. It was a very confusing and disappointing break up beyond belief. She even said yes to my marriage proposal before. “We” were happy and one day she just left me for reasons that all made no sense, just excuses and stupid reasons. Now I am realizing that she had no idea how much I loved her and how much our connection meant to me. I resonate with this song because she will probably think about me in the future and think to herself “Did I make the right choice?” because everyone does at some point and she would have to stop the world to stop the feeling. She wouldn’t have been just my wife either she was and would be my everything my one and only love and my best friend till the day I die. I am so sorry for anyone going through a similar experience and I should tell you it will be okay. Good luck everyone!

  • It’s crazy because I am almost always a lyrics first person, but I was captivated by her voice and the music. I listened to the song several times. At first, it sounded like a relationship where it was a careless affair and one had gotten in too deep. Then I saw all the comments and the media. It obviously was very personal to the artist. That is what makes it so powerful. It transcends all barriers and relates to everyone.

  • This song hit hard I was in a relationship with this guy for 7 months my freshman year The entire time we were together he was kinda homophobic and transphobic and when I noticed that I hid the fact I was generfluid to him because he wouldve said something that would have set me off into tears I always like girls and I was going finally going to accept it, that it was okay for me to like a girl. The more I was with him I lost myself because I was more of an accessory to him. I was just there and nothing else I didnt feel happy with him because I knew I was just his girlfriend (thats what everyone knew me for) and I wanted more. Even if it was the first time of me liking a guy, I thought it would work and I hid myself more and more to comply with what he wanted in a girl. 3:10 made me burst into tears even though its been two years since that, this song made me realize I came so far and started to accept myself again

  • to me this song is me talking to myself, I know deep down I really only like girls but I still try to be “normal” and try to date men but it never makes me feel right, it never feels right and the only reason I do it is because I know my mom will love me better if I’m with a man, and I try to be normal but I know where my heart really is

  • I’m a lesbian, married to the love of my life. She is perfect. But my ex from high school broke up with me because she decided she “wasn’t gay”. She is now engaged to a finance bro man. I know her secret and I feel like this is to her. I KNOW she thinks about us still. It was the greatest summer of my life. She was my first love. I hope she’s happy, good luck babe!

  • 1. I am angry 2. I listen to this song 3. Everything is fine again I like it. Definitely one of my favourite tracks from the past year.. Edit: Spotify said it as well, my 2nd most streamed song this year. The goal is to reach 1st now. I’m on it. Update 2021: Mission failed, only rank 8 this year. The only possible explanation is that I was way more calm in 2021. Onto the next 12 months Update 2022: I made it. Number 1 most streamed song, 129 times. Mission accomplished. Time for update 2023: Unfortunately not rank 1 but at least Top 10, solid rank 8 again. Still a massive banger til this day. Have a nice day and a great 2024

  • Let me take you back to when I was killed and born again Woke up in the light, convinced my life had made it to its end Burning up beneath the sun while my father drained of blood If He’s there, I’ve got a message for the Man that’s up above Fuck you If He’s home, I’ve got a message from below Getting out is not enough if nobody else can come If He’s home, I’ve got a message for the Man above Here am I, take me to the pearly gates So I can look You in the eye when I spit in Your face Here am I, take me to the pearly gates Don’t let ’em hit You on the way out when I take Your place Did you think you could dig deep enough to bury me? It’s over when I say, and you’re not getting rid of me So walk into my fire or step into my light Either way, it’s gonna burn if you don’t make this right Oh, shit If He’s home, I’ve got a message from below Here am I, take me to the pearly gates So I can look You in the eye when I spit in Your face Here am I, take me to the pearly gates Don’t let ’em hit You on the way out when I take Your place Deadmeat Getting out is not enough if nobody else can come If He’s home, I’ve got a message for the Man above Here am I, take me to the pearly gates So I can look You in the eye when I spit in Your face Here am I, take me to the pearly gates Don’t let ’em hit You on the way out when I take Your place Here am I, take me to the pearly gates So I can look You in the eye when I spit in Your face Here am I, take me to the pearly gates Don’t let ’em hit You on the way out when I take Your place

  • When Austin Carlile left music field I couldn’t help myself feeling kind of heartbroken. Even changed my music preference, because everything bored me to death, don’t ask me why (who knows). It’s been like 3 months since I’m ‘back’ and it’s because of this band. How the hell am I supposed to feel now when Noah looks just like a creature out of ‘The Depths’ music article? 😌 The Depths performed live gave me some serious chills. It’s been always pretty special song to me, nice memory I won’t forget. For some reason I think Dethrone could be just as special piece of Bad Omens’ production as The Depths is of OM&M’s (for me). Performed live I bet it’ll make people’s hearts beat just as quickly. Well well… I’m done with blabbering. Thank you and keep up the good work. ~

  • All I can say is …. HELL YES!!!!! Sounds great in my car especially with the top down!!I was actually playing this the other day I had my top down on my car at a red light this older couple just kept staring I thought hmm, maybe they wanna hear too so I turned up the volume and gave them my evil grin and waved lol.

  • The track tells pretty much how I feel right now. Religion has been part of my entire life, it gave me strength in many dark moments, but also put pressure on me when I was already feeling low. I do believe that God (if he exists) is the only one able to see the “whole picture” and I do think that he’s got the best in mind for the universe in a grand scheme of things. But I, as a person, feel forsaken. It’s like there’s this grand scheme-master that supposedly loves me, but all I can hear is the silence. Then sometimes, I think he listens and gives me hope, just to get disappointed again. It’s like we’re all just tokens in a game too big for us to understand. I don’t hate God and I think there’s much I can be grateful for. But right now I feel so fucking alone, so sad and angry. What is the point of MY life, if it’s all meaningless in the big context? Why do I have free choice if all that matters is that I play my role? What do I gain by doing so, suffering an entire life-time for an alleged eternal life, always being caught in a cycle of hope, disappointment and pain? Why do I suffer so much? Only to do my job (pun intended)? In my darkest moments, I hold on to what I thought was faith, only to find out it was fear. What have I done wrong to deserve this? Is it just another lesson I have to learn to become how you imagined me? Does it even come to your mind that I DON’T WANT THIS!? Why are you not answering!? WHY!?
