In Neil Gaiman’s Good Omens, the Hellhound represents the idea that good and evil are learned rather than innate. The Antichrist is supposed to receive the hellhound on his 11th birthday to protect him and do his bidding. The Hellhound’s purpose is to be a playful little dog, but it can transform into a large, black, ferocious beast. The model for the Hellhound was a Great Dane dog with similar coloring to the small dog used later.
The show’s main character, Adam Young, is the Antichrist in the making. He is sent a hellhound by the denizens of Hell to protect him. However, Adam is not actually the Antichrist, but Adam is. Since Adam is the Antichrist, he receives the dog and names it. Crowley and Aziraphale thought the Antichrist was Warlock.
In the show, a dog, it transpires, is actually a hellhound and transforms into the scary beast for a couple of scenes. A mixed breed, possibly a Rat Terrier, Parson Russell Terrier, or Jack Russell Terrier, is used for the transformation. The Hellhound’s mixed breed looks similar to a Rat Terrier, Parson Russell Terrier, and/or Jack Russell Terrier, possibly with some Beagle for good measure.
The Daily Mail somewhat bollocks story about David Tennant being bitten by Ollie, the Hellhound, on Good Omens. The Hellhound was trained to attack Famine (spoilers) and was trained to attack Famine. The Hellhound’s purpose is to represent the idea that good and evil are learned rather than innate.

I had a Rottweiler/Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross and he was one of the most intelligent dogs I ever had. He had a couple people (non-dog people) that he would prank by hiding around a corner and waiting for them to come in the house. After they took off their shoes he would tear into the porch and grab one of the shoes and hide it somewhere in the house. He was also the only dog I had that picked up after his self and put his toys in his toy bin. A really happy go lucky dog.
I had a Rottweiler, Retriever, Newfoundland and he was the most beautiful dog, I miss him so much and loved him so much. He was easy to train, was loyal and protective and had such a beautiful temperament – he was adorable. He was my best friend. If I ever find another like him it would be a miracle, but to me there could only be one.
I had a pitweiler for 12 years he was the BEST boy ever, I see a lot of comments here praising pure bred rotties but they have so many health issues and average life span of 8 years I would rather have a rotty mix any day and I’ll always talk highly of my boy Rosco when this guy says there highly trainable he is 100% right
I had a rot/ wiener/ dragon mix. Great dog albeit very short stature. He would fly me to school and everyone was impressed. The breathing fire thing got annoying after our 3rd house. Eventually the community banded together with pitchforks and put him down… poor thing couldn’t take off fast enough with the short legs
I rescued a German Shepherd/Rottweiler mix from a backyard breeder. He was a wonderful dog. He was extremely intelligent and protective. He was a giant dog weighing 155 lbs and stood almost 6 feet on his hind legs. Jack was a sweetheart when we went anywhere but as soon as we crossed my property line he became the guard dog instantly.
I use to have a Rottweiler and English Mastiff mix he was a very big dog with a heavy and deep bark, i kept him in my back yard with a six foot private fence and when barked it scared anybody that heard him, all they could see was his paws and the top of his head when he stood against the fence, people would always ask me whats that in your back yard, yes i did walk him and take him to the park, I also had a Rottweiler and Lab mix and he was also very big he looked like an all black Rottweiler,

Don’t understand why you said the Rottweiler mixed with pitbull would be aggressive I assume because of the pitbull side which is a very dumb comment because pit bulls are great dogs I have owned many many pit bulls and they all were great dogs not aggressive at all it’s all about how you train a dog I don’t care what breed it is pit bulls just have a bad rap which is dumb
