I disagree with your rating entirely… a ninja cannot be “low to mid jonin level” and be praised by the likes of Orochimaru and Kabuto for their raw power. Both Orochimaru and Kabuto felt very comfortable taking a healthy Kimimaro along with them into battles where the opponents were high jonin to kage level. Bringing him with them to help assassinate the Kazekage and would have brought him to aid in killing the third Hokage as well. That alone speaks volumes of his skill and the high standard he was held to by his peers. I’d rank a 100% healthy Kimimaro as mid Kage level and sick Kimimaro as high jonin level just based on feats and the information we have on the character. Also, according to one of the databooks, Kimimaro had the same potential to grow powerful as Naruto, Sasuke and Haku. So there is that, too. I’d have really liked to see Kimimaro(and Haku) survive and reach their maximum potential as adults. I think both could have surpassed their mentors.

Healthy Kimimaro is an S class lvl ninja, no question. a singular low to mid lvl jonin does not provide any real assistance vs a kage lvl opponent unless they have abilities to specifically counter the kage. Kimi fought against hundreds of kyubi enhanced naruto clones (that requires at least a jonin to deal with) then fought rock lee (a ninja who is easily chunin lvl and when drunk was abt low jonin lvl) and then gaara who was easily jonin lvl (in only a year or so after Gaara became a KAGE) ALL while he (Kimimaro) was knocking on death’s door and shouldnt have been able to move
Considering Kimimaro made easy work of a Kyuubi-raged Naruto with hundreds of clones, a drunken fist Lee (who was able to hold his own against one of the 7 Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist), and Gaara who was mid-Jonin level at the time. He took on all of them and still was a second away from winning, all while being super sick and was supposed to be dead a long time prior to the fight happening… Kimimaro if healthy would easily be a high-Jonin, maybe at most he could’ve been strong enough to be a member of the Akatsuki but he would’ve been the weakest member if not one of the weakest, if he used some Ninjutsu he would’ve been absolutely broken or had some immortality cheap trick like Kakuzu, are you telling me he wouldn’t be more than a mid-Jonin level ninja???
I think Kimimaro had a rare form of Paget’s disease. He could create new bones out of nowhere and that also means creating new nerves. I think what happened was that Kimimaro developed microscopic bones throughout his nerves, veins and arteries. Kimimaro couldn’t land a finishing blow on Gaara because he had a stroke. Kabuto did something or gave him something so that he wouldn’t be able to feel the pain and constriction of the blood. 1st Hokage’s premature death was the result of his Mitotic regeneration jutsu. He was not “healing” the same cells, he was making new cells and replacing old ones, that’s how mitosis works. The thing with Mitosis is somewhere along the line, you will create malformed cells. And from malformed cells, that’s how cancer cells are made.

Kimimaro is like a Mist Village version of Itachi, two unique members of their clans that didn’t fall victim to their clans curses. The only difference is that Itachi didn’t listen to Orichimaru and Kimimaro did. He failed to see through Orochimaru’s greed and became ended up becoming a pawn. Kimimaro was a walking Tank. Unlike Kakuzu, who had to toughen his skin with earth element at the moment of impact, kimimaro was on perma bone density taking every hit and recovering from it. And he was not even shown out of chakra or fatigued at all, which shows his kekkei genkai didnt drain too much chakra. He had the potential to have the most endurance out of any shinobi, like, how do you even kill kimimaro? Surviving gaara tsunami and that giga pressured sand burial is assured death for most characters.
He never had to face Jirobo, the strongest shinobi in the Narutoverse, so we cannot accurately gage his strength. Such a shame because he seemed like he may have been a decent match for him. :/ The reason that him facing the Sound 4 wasn’t in the Manga is because Kishimoto knew it was bull shit to pretend that Kimimaro could beat Jirobo.
I always imagined a scenario where Kimimaro doesn’t die in his fight with Garra, and he only passes out at the end of the fight due to the disease. Kimimaro still has this disease, it just hasn’t killed him yet but it really catches up to him later. Since he isn’t dead, he recovers from the fight and later goes on to train with Orochimaru, Kabuto, Jugo, and Sasuke (after he fights Naruto). Originally, Sasuke was meant to replace Kimimaro as the person who sort of calms Jugo down all the time due to his superior strength, but in my story, both of them fit this role. The three of them become strong together. Then at the beginning of Shippuden, they both return, stronger than ever. Kimimaro is now on the same level as Sasuke, creating an unstoppable dynamic duo that can take on the likes of the Akatsuke and the Leaf Village. Kimimaro and Sasuke grow and develop into the later parts of Shippuden, doing insane dual combos together on their enemies, stringing their ultimate moves with each-other (like Kirin/Chidori with Shikotsumyaku taijutsu dances). Kimimaro and Sasuke can do these combo moves so well because they practiced and honed their skills together in between Part 1 and Shippuden. Later on though, they eventually fight as Sasuke must walk his own path. Sasuke tries to kill Orochimaru, just like he does in the original story, but now Kimimaro means to stand in the way. This creates an internal conflict between them, and they end up having an epic final battle against each other.
I would say that you need to keep in mind that every feat he accomplishes, he accomplishes while in the process of dying. He’s definitely toned down compared to how powerful he actually is, most of the proof of his ability comes from statements made by prominent characters. It’s a shame we didn’t see more of him at 100% during the world war arc’s, but it’s nice that they even decided to have him show up at all. It was pretty clear that that was the last and final thing that they were going to use his character for. So it makes sense that they didn’t delve too far into it, considering what else was going on. I would say that Kimimaro is definitely between Jonin and Kage tier, if not Kage tier already judging by all of the wild things said about him by major characters.

1)He battled Lee and Gaara having such an illness theoretically he shouldnt be able to move, so I´d say he´s twice as strong as he showed in the manga 2) Gaara who is joning level at this point (remember within 1 year after this he became The KAZEKAGE) hard counters Kimimaro´s style: Long range massive attacks and a strong defence, tho with Curse Mark he was still able to beat him 3) I think it´s pretty safe to assume Kimimaro is part 1 Kakashi level and even early shippuden Kakashi 4) I´d think a Kakashi vs Kimimaro or Lee vs Kimimaro would be a pretty cool vid!
I actually respect your opinion when it comes to you analyzing most characters on Naruto but I feel like this article was pointless because you really can’t judge how strong he is. Kimimaro was already in a weakened state due to his illness when he set out to go get Sasuke. Due to this, you can’t really make an assessment on “How powerful” he was because we never got a scene when he wasn’t sick. So who’s to say how powerful he actually was and how much chakra he inputted into his techniques. I believe he did well in a weakened state as he was in but I just think this article was a waste. I also would like to add the fact that he pushed Rock Lee and Gaara (just became Kazekage) to their limits due to his condition being that it was 2 v 1

Kimimaro soloed 2 S rank missions and the bridge builder mission with Zabuza wich was an A rank mission and you said that Zabuza could have become hokage so I feel like Kimimaro would be around as strong as high jonien. Gaara during Kimimaro Arc was about mid – high jonin level and Kimimaro was keeping up with him and occasionally beating and giving some shots to Gaara, and this was all the while Kimimaro was sick and was dying of disease and was told he should been dead long time ago and he was also beating hundreds of Kyuubi powered Baruto clones. This shows that Kimimaro was around high level jonin.
I have had the question of how the Naruto universe deals with reincarnation specifically if Asura’s soul is Hashirama’s and is Naruto’s and Indra’s is Madara’s and is Sasuke’s. How can the past incarnations be resurrected and fight eachother? I personally don’t know much about reincarnation. But if Indra’ s soul became madara’s soul which became Susuke’s soul that’s 1 soul going into 3 bodys over different periods of time. You did my boy Kimi so dirty, Swag. From the Kimimaro we got in the manga, he is at least HIGH jonin level for sure. He beat Gaara and Lee, and I don’t see how an Asuma-level fighter could beat him unless they were able to drag the fight out long enough and trick him into overexerting himself. I can’t even begin to imagine how powerful he’d be if he was perfectly healthy and received the same training that Sasuke did between Part 1 and Part 2. If that happened, you could probably count on two hands the total amount of characters that would be able to beat him. I think a hypothetical story arc could have been ten ten dies after fighting temari (or suffers from a similar spinal problem to Lee) and doesn’t get the operation and during Lee vs kimimaro he’s knocked unconscious and kimimaro gets healed by tsunade and joining team guy after being told thier was no cure for his illness
I think Kimimaro was easily Kage level when he fought Gaara and Lee, it took everything in Naruto’s power to stop Gaara during their fight, and Kimimaro was easily able to go toe-to-toe when he is on the verge of dying and should not be able to even move. One part I think was worth mentioning that I’m surprised was glossed over, is that in the Fourth War, Edo Kimimaro actually managed to do well enough, he wasn’t already sealed or incapacitated by the time Edo Tensei wore off. Mind you, he was fighting a Kage-tier Super Naruto Clone. Granted,he wasn’t alone, but I think that actually says a lot about his actual skills. Jounin tier *easily*. He’s more matchup-reliant than top-tiers like Itachi or Kakashi, but he’s definitely one of the strongest characters shown in Part 1.
I think kimimaro as we saw him might not compete with Kakashi tier, But I would love to see a kimimaro who was never sick. I like to believe that his clan was on par with the uchiha and senju, and wonder if like the Uchiha, a kaguya can also develop SSJ2 upgrades. I would have loved to see a new contending clan.
You forgot to consider that in the fight with gara his sickness probably weakened him, as far as I remember he could only even move his body by using chakra, so he already wasted a lot of chakra just getting there and carrying the lazy Sasuke around. Kimimaro also fought one of those op Naruto shadow clones, like the one who defeated the third Raikage to a draw, without going into cursemark stage 2 or one and he wasnt even at full power, because Kabutos Edo Tensei was like 70% not like Orochimarus 90%. If you consider this, the guy is actually extremly broken.

What if everything we’ve witnessed so far is just an IT dream? I know there are some pretty obvious holes in this theory but I’m interested in your take.
He fought Kazekage level opponents as a teenager… as an Adult he would’ve been almost unstoppable in any 1v1 situation. People just don’t understand that if he wasn’t sick and Orochimaru had absorbed him then he probably would’ve been the most powerful being in the world at that time. I mean he was the Substitute for Itachi!!!…. So yeah, in terms of talent as a physical specimen he was the 2nd pick in Orochimarus draft night, bar none…. This speaks volumes.
I’d say that Kimimaro as he was was very nearly Kage level, and could easily have gone above and beyond Kage level had he survived later into the series. You can get extremely creative with an ability like his. I would assume that, as he gets stronger, he could harden his shield further, making him even more durable. Also, considering he could grow bones into any shape and control them like muscles, that Bracken Dance for one could have become a jutsu like Kabuto’s Inorganic Animation eventually, he could probably make super durable Bone Clones, and even grow entire extra limbs to shoot his finger bullets from, and that’s just scratching the surface. Using the rules of his kekkei genkai, the possibilites are nearly limitless, and the only real limiting factor is Kimimaro’s total chakra. If he had lived to be as old as, say Madara when he died, he probably could have given him a run for his money. I can just imagine a massive Bone Clone with Kimimaro controlling it like a mech made by combining all the mass of his Bracken Dance into one taking on the Perfect Susanoo. He really could have been a heavyweight fighter to rank among the strongest shinobi. His ability has the potential to basically be the same as Hashirama’s but stronger.
Kimimaro at full capacity is ez kage lv imo, you are underrating him, he was able to beat multiple kyuubi amp naruto, this same kyuubi amp that could beat haku even tho you could argue that this one was more amped but the point is kimmimaro beat hundreds of kyuubi amp and it was clearly said that haku was stronger than kakashi at least by zabuza, so if we do the comparison it is perfectly possible that kimmimaro could destroy kakashi at top jonin and another fact kakashi said he would have trouble defeating the likes of neji when he was fighting hinata and we all wont argue that gaara was the strongest in the arena at this point and is even stronger now, so yeah, it is safe to assume or even affirm that kimimaro can compete against kages if not beat some cause lmao tsunade aint beating him that is for sure
I’m surprised you didn’t mention the flash back to when he was a child and dominated dozens if not hundreds of ninja when attacking the village hidden in the mist. Sure he retreated eventually and we don’t see the full scale of this but he was much much younger dealing with much more experienced ninja on their home turf which I believe in another of articles you mentioned that the Kage would normally step in and fight as well with the best of their ninja stationed at home fighting
This article is a lowball for kimimaro power, I’d only consider it accurate if you said when he was sick he is low/mid jonin level. Healthy Kimi I would put right behind pre-timeskip kakashi or equal, there are a lot of things that back this up (which I will not provide for this comment unless asked but they do exist)IMO. The only real glimpse of his power I think we got to see was his final attack the bracken dance, which pretty much killed him to use. I’d argue this is a glimpse of his true strength pre-illness because this attack was his last ditch effort trying to go all out but his body couldn’t handle it anymore. This attack was also clearly just on a whole another level from a regular jonin and even looks impressive when compared to when the 3 sainin fought in part 1. Such a shame he died and had a illness that ate away at his health like itachi, if he lived to the end of shippuden I’m pretty sure he would be sitting at high-mid kage level easily. Potential even improving his kekkai genkai even further to be like kaguya where it destroys anything it touches instantly, don’t think this is far fetched as we have seen kekkai genkai evolve in series and is clear he is some descendant of kaguya. Would love to see you do some versus battles for him!
The fact that this guy was chosen by Orochimaru as his vessel speaks volumes. This guy had a stupid body, not only could he regenerate himself but he literally used himself as a technique. Kaguya also used a more advanced version of bones techniques. And we saw how that was hax, not even naruto jesus powers could heal Obito.
I got the impression that kekkie genki that where close to sage of six path and his mother where strongest abilities in this fictional world. Its not really said out loud but its pretty clear his clan inherited body/bones the way the uchia and Hyuga inherited the eyes and the senju and uzamaki inherited the body/energy. Its probably why Ochimarru was so interested him and why he was planing to take his body. Madara bone head plate when he goes six sage mode probably comes from the same or very similiar bone powers. I suspect there proably was a rough draft at some point that included the bone clan as part of the formula needed to recreate the sage powers. Like you needed an unchia, a senju, and a bone clan memeber dna. You combine these three and its all of the six sage powers.
Did anyone else notice that Kimimaro is part of the Kaguya clan, Kaguya being final enemy in Naruto shippuden and having an attack where she launches bone like projectiles from her finger tips turning anyone they touch into ash. Obviously this attack is much greater in potency than anything Kimimaro has but could he be related to Kaguya in some way?
People saying that beating Lee while he was fresh from surgery was nothing special. Forgetting that Kimmimaro was besides being that sick also bedridden probably for a couple of months and most likley losing alooot of muscle (i would say 30-40 % weaker). Losing speed, strenght and stamina in that time. Another way of showing just how strong he was.
You didnt really add into the conlusion of how he was basically paralyzed but still able to “defeat” rocklee and gaara at the same time. So no, he would definitely be Akatsuki Level, but adding in the fact he was only 15. Think if he had a timeskip like Naruto and Sasuke had inbetween the shippuden, he’d have gained 3 years of experience and become way more powerful.
I think if Kimimaro was healthy he would definately give someone like Gai and Kakashi some trouble. In the war arc one of naruto clones meet up with kimimaro, the same kind of clone that beat the third raikage and later fought madara. I dont know what happened to this clone but I think it disappeared before kimimaro was released from technique.
you cant say his weak or downplay him this man came off life support to take on the main character plot armor himself Naruto, rock lee fresh out the hospital, and gaara, and if it wasent for rock lee there would be no naruto anymore bc he almost killed him twice, and if it wasent for gaara lee would be dead too, kimimaro survived several of gaara’s sand coffins, beat the sound 4 all jounin lvl fighters, was a potential vessel for orochimaru, fought hundreds on 9 tail amped naruto clones without getting hit once, and later on in the war (and this is a very slept on moment) he dodged a KCM1 rasenshuriken from one of naruto’s clones. and his clones in the war in sage killed the 3rd raikage, and kimimaro aided in the death of the kazekage, and i had to go back and rewatch the kimimaro vs gaara fight and kimimaru survived being crushed 200meters. 200meter = 656.167979feet underground that man is rediculous . so i want to know who he compares to in shipudden in his prime.
The thing with Kimimaro is that he can protect his organs as he can literally do whatever the fuck he wants with his bones – that are tough as steel. So, I don’t really see how you can kill him without having to kind of obliterate him or cut him to pieces ( if you can ). Genjutsu would work, but honestly, anything that is not raikiri level would not work on him.
Kimimaro fought three of the series’ most powerful Shinobi (granted they were young) on his death bed. I think the fact that Orochimaru says he has more potential than Sasuke for a perfect body speaks volume of just how fucking powerful he was considering the absolute obsessive boner Orochimaru had for the Sharingan. I’m sad he wasn’t given any sort of spotlight in the Shinobi War to finally show him at full power.
This guy is kage level as stated by the manga. He beat a taijutsu master and a kage jinchuriki and a amp up kyuubi cloak Naruto with 100 clones all while as stated by Kabuto to be already dead so he fought them and beat them despite dying of his illness is the only thing that saved them he did all that at his weakest. Also orochimaru accredited kimimaro with bringing down the 4th kazekage gara’s dad so…
I think if Kimimaro weren’t terminally ill he would have been higher jonin level at that point in the series. And, taking into account what levels Naruto and Sasuke were at then, I think that if Kimimaro had grown up to Shippuden, he would easily been able to achieve kage level or beyond. If he were an adult I think he would have been a good candidate to be a member of the Akatsuki. I personally think Kimimaro is one of the underrated characters of the series.
If Orochimaru thinks that Kimmimaro has more potential then Sasuke and Kimmimaro is the only one to use the Kekkei Genkai that Kaguya used against Naruto and Sasuke in the Final fight. Defeating Gaara Naruto and Lee while he was deadly sick only tells me that he would most likely be Top 15 by end of Shippuden.
