This Dark Souls 3 Dragonslayer Armour Guide provides information on defeating the boss, including locations, strategies, and videos. It highlights the importance of using Crystal Soul Spear, Homing Crystal Soulmass, and Soul Stream, which can be used to buff, estus, cast HCSM, and pop. Leveling strength past the 27 soft-cap can give you 1 or 2 extra points of physical damage. Faith builds work for weapons buffable with lightning blade or darkmoon blade, like the Lothric Knight Greatsword.
The Dragonslayer Armour is the 14th boss in Dark Souls III and can be found on a large bridge at the top of Lothric. Prioritizing speed over damage, players should use fast casting equipment and sling spells that can be rapidly fired off. The Crystal Chime can be used at 40/40 and can be combined with Pyromancy, Miracles, and Sorceries.
The guide also covers nine spells for this build, including Golden Vow, Blessing’s Boon, Lightning Spear, Flame, Grant Me Strength, and Elden Ring Red Lightning Faith Build. The guide aims to show players how to use Red Lightning Spells and Dragon Spells to great effect against the Dragonslayer Armour boss.

Seems to me the biggest mistake many of us make is rushing it. We were so close the previous try that we just want to close the gap as soon as possible. But patience pays off. Oh, and in the case of this boss Lothric Knight Shield, as well as Irithyll Straight Sword. Approach the fight as if you fought just another knight. Circle around him and wait for your chance.
Seems to be a boss theme near the end of DS3; StinkyCheese bosses! This boss cheese begins when the boss is around 1/5th health. Like a sliding swing attack to knock you off the bridge or a stun attack that knocks you down long enough for the boss to follow up with a finishing attack before you’re even up. I’ve also had the two NPC summons just stop attacking and stand there as the boss is attacking me. It’s like there’s RNG code that gives you a small chance of victory when the boss health is low.
as a Pyromancer, I was having major trouble. took a few shots of tequila, used an ember, summoned Eygore, then ran away as soon as I entered the arena. once his attention was focused on Eygore, I lobbed as many great chaos fire orbs as I could. the lava on the ground still does damage even if you happen to miss. as soon as his attention was on me, I ran again (use the thing near the middle of the arena and just run in circles around it) until his attention was again focused on Eygore. beat him without getting touched once.
just keep your shield up all the time and circle him. The axe cant hit you if you are close by, you can block the shield (even though your stamina will drain, but you can dodgeroll the 2nd strike). Hit him when he attacks – you should be behind him Repeat Also you can use a bigger shield even if you dont have the requirements for it.. as long as its only a bit of strength thats missing (less than 10) you should still be able to wield it without penalty in stability. A mage can use shield of want without penalty for better stability as the standard cleric shield
This guy took me a while, my best advice is keep him at mid-range so he doesnt cheap shot you with his shield, learn his moves and how to dodge each (2 quick dodges if he’s swinging his sword, 3rd swing is delayed, shield slamming is delayed but dodge-able, if he falls down get a quick hit in and run/dodge, when he’s dragging axe, just time it right and dodge thru him) and pretty much whenever he misses just hit him once and get back to midrange. I was using a mix armor build (physical absorption/light for better stamina. & rolling) and Eleanora+3, dont think shields work well and yellow pellots definitely dont help. If anything Id just use green blossom but I didn’t need it, just gotta be patient to dodge and hit once, ALSO if you get lucky and he keeps doing the move where he lifts his weapon and slams it slowly, you’re lucky, get behind him and hit him a couple times
I’m a tad late on this game and have finally encountered Mr. Armour – he’s kicking my ass over and over again. At first I felt like my character was too heavy (I couldn’t dodge well) so I drastically lightened my build (this cool ninja get up) and paired it with the Frozen Sword Jawn since it’s a type advantage. My subpar Subzero ass got crushed with shit defense. I reversed course and slapped on more armor and went in with the Profaned Greatsword but found it was too cumbersome/slow. Even with a balanced build, I’m having a hard time getting around his defensive posture to land a solid hit. I’m a faith build and my best weapon is a Lightning Dark Sword which boasts 400+ damage but it ain’t nothing against this dude. Anyone have any advice for this late DS3 arrival?
Got this dude down to like 1-3% health first try, died and kept failing before phase two for like 5 times, then another 10 when I finally nailed that pattern. The random bullshit from the sky killed me so many times with literally nothing to do against it. Damn I felt triggered, but finally got him down solo after all that since I refused to summon! Gotta say the satisfaction was fucking worth it.
Guys, please READ THIS COMMENT. When I first walked into this fight I was so upset because I knew I wasn’t gonna get past it, I died so quick and didn’t even get to attack. But I tried one thing that isn’t even in this guide. I didn’t watch the guide yet until after I beat him and I didn’t know about the fight at all. But it’s so easy. Always roll to the right of his attacks and whenever he is on a cool down(60% of the time) hack at him. The hits go through the shield. I recommend going behind him too. He dies so fast that the second phase doesn’t even start. Trust me, I’m underleveled and somehow smoked him. I’m upset I didn’t know this sooner cuz I literally quit for days because of it lol
i just almost beat him the way to beat him is have a ice weapon thats upgraded higher then +4 if you land a combo depending on what weapon you have it can do 700 dmg so i recommend upgrading your strength and hit him when he is trying to land a 3 hit combo keep dodging untill he lands his 3rd hit then unleash hell on him as well circle around him
i remember my first playthrogh, i steam rolled him on my 3rd try. he never put his shield up and i only knew he used his shield until my second playthrough now, on my second one, he stands with his shield up, waiting for me to die of- i dont know? skoldiosis? the only times he attacks is when projectiles start firering or im using my estus. i fucking love this boss, and thats not sarcasm, this was my first boss i had trouble with in my second run(not counting dancer). i was only able to defeat pontiff when my friend told me to parry his first lunge attack, wich deleted like a 5th of his health. but after learning to parry, he was easy
I just summon some random Player as could not finds those NPC… And with his help, I took this Dragonslayer first try! 😉 It is really not so hard, as his attack are quite visible, and has limited range, so it is not very hard to get out of his way 🙂 And with good weapon, which is possible to get until this fight, it is quite fast. I have FUGS maxed out, and Astora +9, and this Wolf Sword too, but it is +4 I think, but He is vundelrable to it!
And do not fight mad or frustrated. I was using my plus 10 dark sword with lightning, not realizing he was immune but to late to change my belt with frost, and got him down to maybe one or two hits left, died, and fought him angry and couldn’t get 2 hits in. Fight all bosses with a collective state of mind. I lost over 200k souls trying to get them back when I first died. Was not happy but got to get over it.
Hug him. Trust the rng. He will miss the shield bash and there is opening. The boss is input reading. If you are away, it wont let you chug the potion in second phase. The input reading also means that the boss will cover with the shield to follow your movement so that you cant backstab, which you cant but it will limit his attacks. This is what the article is about. It is not about his skill. If the game cheats, cheat back.
Did him in one attempt. To be fair, I spent about an hour farming the knights in the castle, and got used to dodging around shielded enemies. Dodge patterns for the fight are similar to that of fighting Lothric knights so try them out for practice if you guys are having trouble. Also go back and get all the Undead Bone Shards so you’ll be able to sustain through if you get hit.
this bgm should be final boss theme the boss is hard hy itself, I hate it’s charge attack and there are also those flying things shooting projectiles and you can also fall off the bridge, would be more enjoyable if there was a bonfire nearby but it’s either run through a room with aggressive enemies or long ride on a lift
I play the DS serries with pretty much zero community involvement other than the lore but when I see this I just get confused. How does he survive an attack like that where I get one hitter quittered? And don’t even get me started on the damage he deals. I’m using a iato which is about +6 and I’m doing 120 per light hit where this guys doing 300! Life’s not fair. K theres my rant. (I beat him after 10 hours btw)
In my opinion, this is one of the easiest boss fight ever. His moves are easy to learn (It’s like fighting one of those black knights/knights with red eyes but more challenging) and the only aspect of this fight that pissed me off are those dragons. This fight took me 4 tries..It would have taken me 2 tries but I got greedy and the fucker pushed me off the bridge. He was only 1 hit away from getting killed. On my 3rd try, one of the dragon’s laser beam killed me.
i am seriously fuking pissed off with this game especially this boss. I play sorcerer and have dancers armour with izalith staff at +5 lvl 70+ i keep dying within seconds of entering the damn boss room. Because i have to enter 1st the fuking boss singles me out i have to dodge roll all the way to the other side by which time those who i have summoned would have aggroed the boss. after a few blasts of greater soul arrow the boss again turns his attention to me only i cant get out of the damn way most of the time fuking one shots me game over. I use 2 rings for this boss where it increases lightning absorbtion and the other is damage absorbtion. 3 days in a row and 20 embers used i still cant get this boss done. i have had enough already
After copious amounts of dying cos I suck. I decided to try the Irithyll Straight sword. The frost damage the blade does, really helped cut the boss (and my risk of a stroke from screaming at the TV) right down. So, I guess give it a try if you need a different idea of what to do. Oh and btw, is it just me, or is anyone else fed up with bragging pieces of shit who come on here and say shit like: ‘Urh, this boss was fucking cake! Walked in, stabbed myself in the penis just to challenge myself and still downed the boss whilst I read the lord of the rings trilogy’? If you wanna brag, go do it to a tree, cos it is more likely to give a rats ass in return.
I’m saying this before fighting Nameless King, but honestly for me the bosses in DS III have been disappointingly easy. Most took no more than 2 tries, including this guy. Dancer Of The Boreal Valley was probably the hardest so far, and even then, she took no more than maybe 8 tries. I solo’ed all the bosses and didn’t watch any articles until after beating the boss, just to see what people are saying. I don’t regard myself as a particularly good player either.
