Which Spells Can A Resto Shaman Purge?

In World of Warcraft: The War Within (Season 1), Restoration Shamans are highly effective in Raids and PvP due to their high healing and utility. They are also a good pick in Mythic+ due to their ranged abilities and strong cooldowns. Some of the most efficient healing spells for Restoration Shamans include the Call of the Ancestors, which allows you to call an ancestor to your side after benefiting from Undulation or Unleash Life for a few seconds.

Restoration Shamans have various tools to deal with Dungeon affixes and help their group. They can heal using Divine Favor, Blessing of Protection, Blessing of Freedom, Glimmer of Light, and Blessing of Sanctuary. Purging an enemy target removes one beneficial Magic effect, granting a stack of Maelstrom Weapon.

Restoration Shamans have situational spells like Healing Surge and Healing Wave Icon, which can be used to remove dangerous magic effects from enemies. A Restoration Shaman’s skill set includes Purge, while a Holy/Disc Priest has Dispel Magic. Spam purges everywhere to make it easier to kill the druid or other dps, grounding totem when needed.

In summary, Restoration Shamans are valuable in Raids, PvP, Mythic+, and Mythic+ due to their high healing and utility. They offer various tools and talents to help their group and deal with Dungeon affixes.

  • Thank you for a legit beginner article. I get so annoyed when someone who is completly new to healing wants to learn and all the articles out there labeld “beginner” is where they talk about M+ for 90% of the article. Not going thru how serten spells work or synergize ect. Great article for actual beginners, just made my shaman healer yesterday and having lots of fun now when I understand how the spells work 😊

  • I am a healing type of player. Usually I stick to one healer to master the class and have a little fun with it. This xpac I started out as an Evoker because it was new. Now I am going back to my other healing classes and leveling them up. You are my go to for a refresher on each healing class. Giving me the confidence to play the class again. Thank you for all of your hard work.

  • Talents, Stat Priorities, Additional Spells, and Further gameplay tips will be talked about in the full class guide I make once Dragonflight launches. The beginners guide is aimed towards players just picking up the class for the first time. Corrections – Riptide now generates 2 stacks of Tidal Waves and Chain Heal now consumes Tidal Waves. So the gameplay loop is still the same as explained in the article but you can now spend with chain heal, giving us more options when spending our Tidal Waves stacks.

  • thank you so much for doing these. ive been playing wow and im a p decent tank and dps but ive never healed and these are really making it alot easier. love hearing what the spells do and when theyre good.. i think a article series of like, JUST spec/class specific CD explanations and how they work, how they affect the rotation, and why and when youd choose certain things. the cd stuff throws me i think i have all the shaman cds up the entire dungeon lol idk when to use em

  • 45% percent 12 clicks 40 attacks 2 min in and you have a balanced game with a 70% on average win rate which provides 3.2 damage and all 3rd patchs are shaman patchs where 102% of people play this class then there is no losing with this strategy you can now treat us like were not retarded the 30 times in a row that we died however was a unlucky crit from the boss which make the stats null and void you need not to worry about this. this is the most boosted class whatsoever you however won’t get bind on equip spells or something that provides your 2 percent because we have like 12 healers if you wanted to boost this character you can stare at the paint in classic wow you know the place where people go to leave they kids

  • I can’t thank you enough for your instruction. I used your resto druid article this winter and quickly got solid enough to effectively heal and thoroughly enjoy it in pve and pvp (almost immediately was topping healing in epic and regs bgs). Just leveled an enhancement shaman this week, and while fun, I am getting my ass whooped while gearing up especially in pvp. So using this guide, I’m going to queue and gear up as Resto spec for quick queues and more effective play in BG instead of dying on the front lines every 10 seconds as an under geared and under skilled melee shaman lol. Thank you!!! You are a very good teacher! EDIT: WAIT A SEC… is this article totally obsolete now? does ‘tidal wave’ passive even exist now? i didnt play DF shaman before 10.0.7 so … idk

  • Which one do you prefer: Farseer or Totemic? 🤔 If you are looking for the talent reminder WA – you can get it here: wago.io/wWtsZmhSR Also check out my updated Resto Shaman article covering some of the most popular talent builds and how to save MANA as totemic 👉 youtube.com/watch?v=NVUY0InG3Rw

  • Hey Madskill, thanks for the great article and for creating such a detailed Resto Shaman Mythic+ guide! Your insights have been super helpful, and I really appreciate all the time and effort you put into breaking everything down. I’d love to understand more about the Farseer window with the 2 ancestor up as well. Thanks again for sharing your content and helping the community!

  • so i have two main heal, shaman and druid, im healed mythic raids and 20+ keys so far previous leagues. but im main shamy now. i like farseer and healing rain stile but that is just so much button so much, and after i thought ye give a trie to totemic, and yes this is my play stile in war within. is so much easyer for me, fever buttons and incredeble healing output. love it. thanks the article aniway and the tipps and tricks.

  • Great article. In particular, I appreciate the bit where you talk about potentially dropping Primordial Wave if you don’t enjoy it, or don’t use it. I’ve found myself not using it often, same for Unleash Weapon when I’m running Totemic, and feel even that change alone has helped relieve some of the bloat I feel on my end, and some choice paralysis in the heat of the moment.

  • Coming back to shaman after playing Evoker in dragonflight. Wildly different play style than in Shadowlands. This article is super helpful and it’s really going to help in building an offspec healing build. I really like the throw hots on everyone and dps playstyle Preservation has, so it seems like totemic is more the way for me to go. Thanks so much for doing all the work!

  • You had me sucked in for the farseer windows!! I will defnitely be experimenting with this, there is huge potential with this kind of stuff for skill expression and really pushing the envelope of what is possible in healing and healer dps keys. I would love a pvp guide for rsham if you have any exp! Going to attempt for the first season to go for some higher ranks and want to do it as shaman

  • At the moment I’m 601 ilvl playing a surge healing talents without primordial wave. I’m hitting 2m when the surge crit and believe me the mana is not being a lot of problem unless u really chain pull something that was not supose to. Is like playing holy priest and druid at the same time having 3 riptides and healing only single with surge.

  • How’re you managing mana? I’m enjoying resto shaman, but the biggest issue i continue running into is running low on mana. Healing Surge drains a lot of my mana, it feels like. I try to press chain heal as little as possible unless I’ve got High Tide and Tide Bringer up (AS too off CD), so I don’t think it should be that, but I could be wrong

  • primordial wave is overrated, its not worth playing around even if you buff it with undulation or unleash life. if you even ever yo slightly dislike primordial wave dont play it . 40 % of a healing wave is just too nerfed its in the “better than nothing” category but its still absolut trash dont think about it too much even in the highest keys.

  • Man, I tried necrotic wake +6 at stitchflesh I was doing 1.2 hps and barely holding, then I see you doing 1.8 like a breeze, holy fuck my skill issues are real. I am a bit stuck, I am not sure if I am bashing myself too much, and I need better gear, I also am stuck at 610, with no clear upgrade path. I see people above 620, which apparently equates to a 8-9k intellect difference. Where can I find material regarding drop progression?

  • Idk bro I’ve never seen a high rated rsham run healing stream ever. We struggle with burst healing still. Cloudburst is the only real viable option we have. That’s why good rshams are always so evident. They know exactly when and where to drop cloudburst and trigger it right as burst damage comes in. Cloudburst is just a skill based totem, but I don’t think hst will ever outperform it. Just my opinion, I’ve never hit rank 1 but I’m usually above 3k
