A federal jury in the District of Columbia has found four members of the Oath Keepers, including founder Stewart Rhodes and member Kelly Meggs, guilty of seditious conspiracy in connection with the Jan. 6 Capitol attack. The group was accused of seeking to overturn President Joe Biden’s presidential win. Rhodes and one of his subordinates were found guilty of seditious conspiracy. The Proud Boys, led by Enrique Tarrio, Joseph Biggs, Ethan Nordean, Dominic Pezzola, and Zachary Rehl, were also charged with seditious conspiracy.
The trial began on January 1, and the verdict is expected to be heard in January. The Proud Boys, led by former leader Enrique Tarrio, have been convicted of a plot to attack the US Capitol. The conviction of the leaders of the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers is significant as it marks the longest sentence given to any of the hundreds of people found guilty of involvement in the pro-Trump attack on the U.S. Capitol.
