Akbar and his associates are accused of creating the StealthGenie app, which intercepts communications to and from Apple. For almost four years, Akbar and his co-conspirators sold an app called StealthGenie, capable of recording communications. Akbar and his co-conspirators allegedly programmed StealthGenie to synchronize intercepted communications with the customer’s account so that they could spy on their partners.

The StealthGenie app is used by suspicious lovers to spy on their partners once downloaded onto their smartphone. The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, Dana J. Boente, announced that U.S. District Judge Leonie M. Brinkema has put a charge against Akbar.
