Pikachu, the mascot of the Pokémon franchise, is a popular species in Nintendo and Game Freak’s Pokémon media franchise. It is also the game mascot of and the player’s first Pokémon in Pokémon Yellow and Let’s Go, Pikachu!, the anime series. Pikachu has claimed the spot as the franchise’s mascot for 25 years, conjures up fond memories of the original Pokémon craze and carefree childhood days.
Pikachu was initially considered alongside Clefairy as lead characters for franchise merchandising but emerged as the mascot of the anime series due to its popularity amongst schoolchildren and appeal to both boys and girls. Based on general consensus, Pikachu stays as the overall Pokemon mascot with regards to merchandise and marketing of the Pokemon brand.
