I later found out the reason why they’re all bloody and bruised is symbolic in that they’d been through so much since the last time this director of the article, stéphane sednaoui, worked with them (he also did give it away, breaking the girl, so it had been a few years). john had been through hell and back, anthony had relapsed, the band was on the verge of breaking up and there was a lot of tension, etc… and stéphane said he had been through a lot too. of course they all pulled through as we see here and the fact that they’re driving forward in a car symbolizes being able to move forward, pick yourself up, keep going no matter what… so it’s sending a message in a way, saying no matter how much life beats you up or how much scar tissue you’ve got, just keep moving forward. it does get better and I think RHCP is living proof of that, especially john. I thought that was so beautiful and so worth sharing. I love them so much. I remember when this song came out on the radio. It was summer, and I was off of school and there was a public pool down the street that me and my brothers went to pretty much everyday. The lifeguard always had it set to the alternative rock station. This song would play at least once while we were there, and the radio DJ said “I have no idea what this song is about, but it sounds good!” It was just the perfect vibe to just chill. No homework or anything to worry about. Just walking over to the soda machine still dripping wet, bobbing your wrinkly toes to the beat.
I remember my teenage days, here in southern Spain, I used to go every day to my favourite pub in the evenings and all night sometimes, it was summer and I enjoyed the air conditioning and the beers and the owner used to play the whole album everyday. I taught myself guitar in lockdown (i played piano as a kid so I picked it up quickly) this is my favourite song to play. I now go busking in the places I went as a homeless begger and rock it and instead of spending any money I get on drugs I spend it on nice stuff n musical stuff. It made me feel I’ve come full circle. Thanks tooo chilli peppers their songs have got me through A LOT.❤👌
Uma vez eu postei essa música no status do wpp e um amigo falou que amava essa música. Ontem eu recebi a notícia que ele havia se suicidado. Felipe, vc precisava saber o quão adorável vc era, merecia muito mais. Queria poder voltar no tempo e descobrir o quanto vc estava sofrendo e dizer o quão especial vc era pra todos. Back in 2008 when I was 4 my sister would always play this song around when she was driving or we were on the bus together listening to music on the earphones, this is literary one of the first songs I remember in my life, and it will always remind me of childhood’s pure green grass, limitless blue sky and the golden sunshine of summer 2008.
It was our wedding day, the sun was shining gloriously on us. The weather at the beach was perfect. The only sounds it seemed were the crashing waves, people honking & yelling congratulations & the rest of them driving by somehow playing songs from my favorite band RHCP. It was almost magical. I’ll forever remember that day. Just the way we were. He’s been gone 3 years now but this takes me right back. Rest in Peace Johnny, I’ll see you soon enough. ❤🌹🖤

Esta canción me ayudo a salir de muchas cosas cuando era joven, sobre todo con problemas de adicción, puedo decir que me salvo la vida, hoy pienso tatuarme la frase que dice “con los pájaros compartiré esta vista solitaria” y es precisamente porque gracias a esta frase fui salvado, literalmente mis momentos de paz la encontré en solitario viendo la vista solitaria que mi sanación me estaba dando, y la redención que buscaba la encontré, hoy a mis 35 años lejos de muchas cosas negativas puedo decir con mucho gusto que fui salvado gracias a esta canción y por supuesto gracias a los peppers por hacer de este mundo un lugar mejor con su música.

Anthony starting heroin again. Their strained relationship in 92, John abruptly leaving the band, sinking into a deep pit of heavy drug abuse and, basically, insanity, walls scrawled with paintings and words, blood in the bathroom. Losing teeth, abscesses, infections, facial reconstruction, and somehow, making it through to the last guitar solo with Anthony looking at him and smiling.

Apesar de algumas desavenças da vida entre nós dois eu não me imagino sem ele, e grande parte da minha identidade vem dele. I remember being around 8 years old when I first heard this song and watched its music article on MTV. I used to think I attributed my love for rock music to bands such as Green Day or The Offspring when I heard their music years later. But no, it was thanks to the chilli peppers that I slowly developed interest and love for this kind of music. Thank you RHCP.
Love this song 🎵 ❤️ 💕, it’s a beautiful musical masterpiece. It really depicts what it’s like to suffer from mental health issues, and the struggle that comes along with it. That’s why it’s Scar Tissue,cause it leaves a scar on you emotionally, and mentally and sometimes physically. Ty,for sharing this Anthony,people can actually relate to this. Well done.
Reminds me of backpacking in Thailand as a teen. I actually struggle to listen to this album because of just how nostalgic it is, mostly in a melancholy way, in part through wishing to be back there in that time and space, and also from how sharply it reminds me of just how many years have passed, too quickly, it feels. I’ve lived in Thailand, happily married, basically from shortly after this came out, and I’m not depressed or feeling any kind of way in general. It’s just something about where this album takes me. I probably love it, and would have RHCP playlists and whatnot, but as it is, I just listen to the odd song by them maybe once a year. Funny, really.
