Are Crowley and Aziraphale in love?
The first season of Good Omens showcased the love between Crowley and Aziraphale, but it wasn’t enough for the author to express their love for their formative texts. They felt that their formative texts didn’t make room for them, and they had to create their own space with others who wanted the same space. Despite some narrow opinions, the author found their place in Good Omens to be glorious, endlessly strange, and their own. This realization is a testament to the growing representation of queer artists in mainstream media and the importance of creating spaces for diverse voices.
Does Crowley kiss Aziraphale?
Good Omens Season 2 introduces a long-awaited kiss between Aziraphale and Crowley, but it doesn’t solve their problems. Crowley tries to express his feelings for Aziraphale, but Aziraphale chooses to return to heaven. Despite the kiss, they struggle to communicate and understand each other, leaving room for growth in Season 3.
The first season of Good Omens took viewers on a 6, 000-year journey of Crowley and Aziraphale’s relationship. However, the relationship seemed obvious to everyone except the two characters. In Season 2, Aziraphale and Crowley finally fight on the same side, but their former opponent, Gabriel, arrives in Aziraphale’s bookshop with no clothing or memory. Aziraphale helps and hides Gabriel from both Heaven and Hell, causing the forces of Heaven and Hell to hunt for the missing archangel, threatening their “precious, peaceful, fragile” existence.
In summary, Good Omens Season 2 introduces a kiss between Aziraphale and Crowley, but it doesn’t solve their problems or resolve their relationship. The show’s second season offers a deeper understanding of the characters’ relationship and their struggles, allowing for growth and development in Season 3.

Are Aziraphale and Crowley in love?
The first season of Good Omens, a series that showcased the love between Crowley and Aziraphale, was a significant departure from the norm for queer artists. The author, who had never been given a significant representation in mainstream media, reflects on the lack of room for queer artists in their formative texts. They believe that the transition from novel to television series was driven by factors such as a growing fandom, legislation against queerness, transness, disability, and healthcare, and the global pandemic.
Other factors include actors who were willing to portray these roles and stories, the homogenization of blockbuster media, and groups attempting to assert that one of the book’s authors was against trans rights. The author acknowledges that the transition from novel to television series was not without challenges, but it was a glorious and strange place that was their own.
Why was Good Omens cancelled?
The production of the graveyard was temporarily halted by Disney due to a lack of complete viewing equivalents, although the rationale behind this decision remains opaque.
📹 (Good Omens) They’re Only Human COMPLETE Animatic
Song: They’re Only Human – Death Note Musical AT LAST! This animatic took so long to complete, but I really hope y’all like it, …
I like that the line assignment is inverted on “Isn’t it a laugh?” “Isn’t it a shame?” for Crowley and Aziraphale. For the entire rest of the song, Ryuk’s lines suit Crowley and Rem’s lines suit Aziraphale, but here, of course it’s Aziraphale who nervously tries to laugh off horror from on high, and of course it’s Crowley who draws a line. I wish the closed captions reflected this accurately, because it’s such a good, in-character decision to break with strict casting here!
I love how in the series Crowley doesn’t want to be a demon nor an angel, he just wants to be with Aziraphale no matter what, he always makes references like “all I ever did was ask questions, that’s all it took to become a demon in the old days” and “I just hung out with the wrong people” to try mask the fact that he doesn’t actually want to be bad, he wants to stay on earth with Aziraphale and that’s all that matters to him now.
“God does not play dice with the universe; She plays an ineffable game of Her own devising, which might be compared, from the perspective of any of the other players (i.e. everybody), to being involved in an obscure and complex variant of poker in a pitch-dark room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes, with a Dealer who won’t tell you the rules, and who smiles all the time.”
I really appreciate how Crowley is portrayed as the more emotionally aware one in this. It fits him. I love Crowley saving the boy at the arc and carrying him away from the certain death of drowning. I love him crying as he falls. I love him getting so upset over the way heaven and hell treats the humans until he cries. I love Azi comforting him in the rain. I love them flying together and Azi finally letting himself cry as he realizes that it really is as bad as Crowley says. Also, edit: I really like the idea that when he gets really upset and it’s just him and Azi he releases his wings naturally In general I just really love this animation and also your art is gorgeous!
Oh my goodness!!!!!!!! I was worried about the ending because Ryuk’s disregard of humans is so very, very different from Crowley and also there was the obvious Death Note lines like ‘the years they could give you and me’ and then I watched it and just!!!!!!!!!! Oh it’s so good, just amazing the emotion it captures, the way you change the meaning of the song so it becomes something so different from the original, the pain the angst, Aziraphale comforting Crowley and lifting his chin, Crowley falling, them both crying, the way the lyrics match perfectly while the meaning is so very, very different, the ending with even the ‘let’s call’ being given a good omen’s slant reminding me the importance the Ineffable Plan vs the Devine Plan played in the end and them seeking answers, how they both called out for answers at one point during cannon. The way the Them is included while they watch over with Aziraphale crying, the clouds earlier the twist the dancing scene took, I was expecting it to be replaced by another scene rather then continuing into that transition and Crowley falling to the lyrics and the wine overfilling, tears overflowing again and again and their angst and arguments and just there is so much, so much!! Well worth the wait, thank you!!!!
WELCOME BACK EVERYONE WHO’S REVISITING FOR S2!! Talk about a miracle! edit:: i finished s2 and im not ok I never in my wildest dreams thought this would hit almost 8 mil views! Thank y’all so much! These days I don’t have time or energy to really make more animatics, but I really appreciate the support y’all have given me over the years for this one and my Hamilton animatic :’) If you like my work, please consider checking out my WEBTOON Brimstone and Roses! A girl summons a demon as her +1 to a wedding and it’s all downhill from there. webtoons.com/en/romance/brimstone-and-roses/list?title_no=1758 My Carrd for ways to contact me: speremint.carrd.co/
When it comes to Aziraphale and Crowley, I imagine the angsty pre-apocalypse subtext under the lyrics would go something like: They’re only human, they don’t see (We aren’t human, can’t you see) Who they are is who they’ll always be (What we are is what we’ll always be) Only human, after all (Aren’t human, after all) So they push and they shove (So we push and we shove) With this thing they call love (But don’t dare call it love) ‘Till they fall (Or we fall)
I love EVERYTHING about this!! “Never getting answers but still asking why” and then Crowley looking sad as hell. Crowley crying multiple times because he cares about the humans so much… The moment Aziraphale mentions love he’s cut off by Crowley falling 🙁 The humans stay the same but also CROWLEY AND AZIRAPHALE WERE THE SAME FOR LIKE 6000 YEARS- I’ve watched this like 5 times already, and now onto the 6th-
I just realised that while Crowley obviously ate the apple of knowledge at the beginning, Aziraphale almost does but is prevented from doing so by a thunderstorm that God presumably controls. There probably isn’t any knowledge there which angels and demons don’t already know, but you do have to wonder… The experience of ‘playing a card game in a dark room with a dealer who won’t tell you all the rules and who smiles all the time’ may apply to angels too
This is absolutely amazing. Its the perfect song, aziraphale being an angel who clearly sees the faults of the world and crowleys opinions and knows they are valid. The song is so perfect showing aziraphale clearly struggling to reason with everything unfair going on. The transitions are amazing. The style is so precious im like non stop repeat viewing this i needed this so much i love it and i love the way you draw the ineffable husbands ;^, 😍😍 its amazing. I adore your aziraphale so much and its just all… i cant praise this enough
Lyrics: Look at how they crawl around Upon the ground Like little ants Yes, but how they fascinate Confusing fate With what is merely chance Isn’t it a laugh? Isn’t it a shame? Thinking there is someone in Heaven to blame Yes, but even while blaming fate for the lives that they lead They hope for the lives that they need Living every day ‘til the day they die Never getting answers Yet still asking why Going through the motions as if there will be a reward While we stay eternally bored! They’re only human They don’t see Who they are is who they’ll always be Only human, after all So they push and they shove With this thing they call love ‘Til they fall! Isn’t it a farce? Isn’t it a waste? Struggling to face what can never be faced Yes, but maybe death can release something more than we share I really don’t know and don’t care They’re only human Standing still Doomed to live pushing boulders uphill Only human, after all So they give and they take Hoping someone will help break their fall They will pray, curse, live, die Never knowing their truth is another man’s lie Eat, sleep, love, hate Like a leaf blowing in the wind Watch them all vacillate! They’re only human They can’t see All the years they could give you and me Only human, after all So they give and we take ‘Til their silly hearts break Looking down from above I’m intrigued by their love So let’s call! Hmmm, let’s call!
I have literal tears in my eyes this is the most beautiful animatic I have ever watched and was so damn worth the wait. You did so well on the spiral flight and the transitions are so smooth and creative. The expressions have so much emotion in them and the coloring of the details (wine, eyes, etc.) stands out so well in the greyscale and gives it way more life than if it were all colored. I could watch this on loop and still not have enough of your art,,, thank u for doing what u do,,,,,
Crowley talking about crawling right after turning from a snake to his human-like form. Then Crowley falling and singing about falling. Them talking about humans giving them time on earth. Seriously, I can’t believe this song wasn’t written for Good Omens or your animatic, when you see how perfectly they go together. I also loved Crowley talking about Oscillation and then the image oscillating between Aziraphale and Crowley protecting each other from the rain (I loved the second one with Crowley so much, I wish they’d had that in the actual show! Those two complement each other so well) So many creative details and I’m sure there are more things I haven’t noticed.

I just started perusal Good Omens after hearing a lot about it and I honestly always thought that people very much exaggerated the romantic tension between these two, but honestly? I’m in episode 3 and I could easily believe that there’s more than friendship there. And this animatic doesn’t even feel like a fan work, it feels like they could actually act like this with each other and the art is just gorgeous
They’re Only Human Look at how they crawl around Upon the Ground Like little Ants Yes, but how they fascinate, Confusing fate With what is merely Chance Isn’t it a laugh? Isn’t it a shame? I think I have watched this probably 10 times in the last hours alone, this is utterly magnificent!! I love how Aziraphale almost eats the apple Crowley offers him, I love Crowley getting worked up at the ark situation, I love them dancing and Crowley falling, I love Crowley’s bloody tears, I love the dramatic light at the end, I love everything! Also thank you for making me discover this banger of a song lol
I think what draws me back in so many times is how the male voice in the song sounds so much like Crowley’s actor that it’s uncanny, it fits to a T. Plus the bit where he saves the child and falls anyway breaks my heart but you come back for it anyway. My heart soars, I wish I could dance to this. I just imagine them dancing in my head 1:00
So, coming off a Death Note Musical kick just before getting into Good Omens, I was THRILLED when I saw the WIP. But this… this is so much better than I could have anticipated. It’s beautifully animated, punched me in the feels multiple times, and broke me in all the best ways. Thank you, so, SO much, for making this.
i love how u put a spin on a very different characters lines and made them crowleys own, instead of blatant disregard it being bitterness about the years lost,, and its not just the meaning that amazes me : u literally every frame has so much detail and effort put into it, and each transition is a changing perspective : 0 i can see how well u built it up, showing azira and crowleys emotional turmoil because of knowing better than humans before the final repetition of the chorus where they fly up into the sky and it shows the rest of the cast of characters in good omens and what’s ‘to come’ after the ‘call’ : O this is brilliant, u should get an award for this!!!!! : V
The imagery of your art is delightfully powerful, from the smooth transitions that always manage to amplify the emotions in the scenes to the characterisations of them and their status as supernatural beings by the angle we see their interactions through and behaviour in addition to wings claws etc. Plus the certainty of their relationship and being with each other, different takes on morality and outlooks on the world as people there for each others concerns and laughter is perfectly on par with the portrayals in book and series And thank you so much for Crowleys different presentations (as well as excluding horns and Aziraphale being chubby and soft), now please excuse me for yet another re-watch, it is just damned lovely all around
Okay hold on a second, not only is the choice of the music perfect! But this animation! How in the hell can it be so flawless ? The details, the accurate expressions, the transitions…I love every single part of it, I’m mesmerized every time I listen and watch it altogether…Just damn is this beautiful!
Hot damn! Thank y’all so much for 1 Million views!!! I never thought this animatic would blow up this much, and I appreciate the amazingly sweet comments most of y’all have been leaving! I really enjoy reading the more analytical comments, and I appreciate the interest and also being able to rope other people into Good Omens!~ I don’t do animatics often because they’re extremely time consuming and I’m working as a professional comic artist at the moment, but if you like my content, please check out my social medias! Also, feel free to check out my comic on WEBTOON: webtoons.com/en/romance/brimstone-and-roses/list?title_no=1758
OH MY GOD THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL I LOVE THE EMOYION YOU PIT INTO THEM! seeing aziraphale cry in the clouds and perusal Crowley show his emotions is so beautiful and it pulls at my heartstrings the use of wings when arguing and stuff is fascinating. The broken wine glass? STUNNING gOD I wish there was more beautiful stuff like this BRAVO!!
my duUUDe you have got everything I look for in an animatic! Good art, fluid poses and expressions! I tend to look over animatics that just redraw the same scenes over and over again from the source material and nearly every dang frame in this thing is just crafted from your creative brain! The off the wall song choice that suits better than any old generic love song or whatever….this is GOLDEN.
Not only is the song choice perfect and the art freaking gorgeous, but those transitions are phenomenal! 0:49 Also the father’s face and posture when Crowley saves his child from the flood. As he flies away the camera pans to the father and he’s on his knees in a praying position, crying but smiling. Thankful even as he waits to die. Damn Speremint, your level of detail and storytelling, here, is off the charts! 💗
I stumbled over this ages ago and I’ve been returning again and again, the music is so good but your animation is absolutely stellar. Every single transition is just brilliant and executed perfectly. Love Crowley’s vulnerable side being portrayed more prominently. And Aziraphale’s expression when he looks away whilst drinking the wine speaks volumes. I like that Crowley is so sharp in all of his features (especially the fingers!!) and creates a contrast to Aziraphale’s broader softer frame. The dancing scene gives me life T-T And lastly, the wings are so fucking cool! They’re so dynamic and they have dimension and fluffyness behind them, I’m at a loss for words hldhlsndsf. Just, amazing <3
HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIT?! I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR MONTHS AND IT MIGHT JUST BE THE BEST DONE ANIMATIC I’VE EVER SEEN AND ????? THIS IS SO GOOD THAT WHEN I SAW THE WIP I LITERALLY… SEARCHED FOR ALL THE OTHER SONGS FROM THE MUSICAL… AND THE WAY YOU DRAW CROWLEY IS JUST…. GONNA GIVE ME A HEART ATTACK
I love this it fits so perfectly for both the song and the show. Turning a song of two death finds to an Angel and a Demon. From cold/detached intrest to care . And so much angst. This has to be turned into a fanfic! Well if not I shall content myself with perusal this a couple hundred more times cuse it is just so beautifully done.
I love how Aziraphale is saying like, they don’t know any better “they’re only human”. While Crowley is saying it like “they’re only (pathetic) human(s)” Also that end scene where the light makes Crowley’s wings lighter on top while casting a shadow on Aziraphale’s wings to make them look darker on bottom chefs kiss
The entire interaction of the pair in this article shows both their bond & differences in regards to how they view humanity. Their relationship tips with the tempo & their lines parallel the pressure they share as representatives of their sides & interactive observers in humanity’s’ development. Aziraphale and Crowley’s relationship in the umbrella scene flashing back to the beginning really conveys their growth & the change they have grown into due to each other & apart throughout the eras. Aziraphale while still compassionate & struggling to remain in the audience becomes more willing to risk it all for humanity, while Crowley while still cyclical & challenging toward the ineffable plan grows to bold enough to call upon God on behalf of humans.
HOLY CRAP THAT WAS AMAZING! YOU DID SUCH A GOOD JOB HOLY SHIT AAAAAAA- Seriously, I can’t get over how good this is! I saw the wip articles and I knew it was going to be great but actually seeing the finished product is just incredible. Aaaaa- I could legit spend hours gushing about this. I love this and bless you for making it. Now, if you’ll excuse me I’m going to smash that replay button and watch this probably a hundred more times.
Things about this that hurt even more after perusal Season 2 (without explaining why because that would be spoilers) – Every time they dance – Them in the rain, under the umbrella, but especially Aziraphale shielding Crowley from the rain with his wing – Crowley going out of his way to save a child from God’s wrath – “Looking down from above, I’m intrigued by their love” – 1:11 Aziraphale looking like THIS just when they say “love” – 0:25 Aziraphale almost biting into the apple aka “giving in to Crowley’s temptation” – Them dining together – Crowley’s anguish and sadness disguised as angry outbursts everything, basically
They’re Only Human Look at how they crawl around Upon the ground Like little ants Yes, but how they fascinate Confusing fate With what is merely chance Isn’t it a laugh? Isn’t it a shame? I came back to this after perusal season 2 and it’s so beautiful how this animatic and the song choice aged perfectly, even despite everything that has happened. Implied S2 spoilers below! Crowley and Aziraphale have meddled in humanity’s feats and falls for so long and witnessing everything that humanity had dealt with (and will deal with) left them so compassionate not only for humanity but for each other. They’re on their own side (well… were) and humanity has contributed so much to that… all the years they gave Aziraphale and Crowley. The toxicity of Heaven and Hell drove them away, save for Aziraphale who felt trapped in that cycle and did what he did at the end BUT it was for what he believed to be for Crowley’s sake as well. Crowley, as far as we know, is still on earth albeit absolutely defeated and betrayed. I just hope they don’t relapse into Hell, as Zira did with Heaven. They’ll make up eventually and by God, they’ll be back together on their own side on the earth… to the world, as they say
this is incredible! the art style is fantastic, and the way you draw expressions is SO good! not to mention the transitions, the flying, the spinning? it’s so impressive i also like how you managed to keep crowley’s care for humanity and insistence they stop the apocalypse while using the rather unsympathetic lyrics of the song. and, gosh, the lighting at the end is gorgeous. amazing animatic, i’m gonna be rewatching this one for the next couple hours, i think
This is great. This WIP was great too. So great in fact that it held a gun to my head and told me to watch Death Note and then listen to the musical. And I did. And I loved it. And now this is finished And this is also the best One, because I understand it And two, because you’re just so taleNTED OMGBDJXBSHX ahem So sir’am, you have thoroughly ruined me and I would like to say thank you so mUCh.
AHH YOU GAVE ADAM THE RIGHT BICYCLE! Ahem. This was incredible! I clicked on this and didn’t read the title so I just assumed I was listening to the shorter version, and just before it loaded, I saw the “COMPLETE” and my heartrate went 110%. It did not disappoint. The animation is utterly gorgeous, especially that one with Aziraphale saying “I’m intrigued by their love,” it made me tear up. And the wings! How do you draw feathers so well?!? No one knows. The way the animation so clearly conveys how the song fits into Good Omens, that these two actually love humanity and the world, the “all the years they could give you and me” line that takes on entirely different worlds of meaning, that Crowley especially cares so much—Just—Thank you. Thank you so much. (I do wonder what Crowley did with the little kid he carried off in the first part. Did he put him on the Ark?)
This is one of my favourite animatics since last year and today I was re-watching it and said “Wait, why the art style looks so familiar?” and turns out this is the same artist as the webtoon Brimstone and Roses xD This animatic? Beautiful, pure art, hermoso Brimstone and Roses? Great, I love it (and Lazareth too lol)
It’s interesting how Good Omens and Death Note differ on fate, but in the end the two perspectives converge when it matters. Aziraphale believes in the ineffibilty of the divine plan…until humanity is in danger, and then he sees what a “farce” the whole process of armageddon and the destruction of humanity would be.
HOLY FUCK THIS IS GOOD! My sis told me about it, and the way you play out the lyrics, OOF! The part with Noah’s Ark was REALLY GOOD, I can definitely see Crowley trying to help that kid. And just the whole thing flows so well, I love it. You did amazing! EDIT: OH! And the apple at the start, both referencing the forbidden fruit AND Ruk’s apple habit in DN, excellent!
Look at how they crawl around Upon the Ground Like little Ants Yes, but how they fascinate, Confusing fate With what is merely Chance Isn’t it a laugh? Isn’t it a shame? They’re only Human They don’t see Who they are is who they’ll always be Only Human, after all So they push and they shove With this thing they call Love ‘Til they fall! Isn’t it a farce? Isn’t it a waste? Struggling to Face what can never be faced Yes, but maybe Death can release something more than we share I really don’t know and don’t care They’re only Human Standing still Doomed to live pushing boulders uphill Only Human, after all So they give and they take Hoping someone will help break their Fall They will pray, curse, live die Never knowing their Truth is another Man’s Lie Eat, sleep, love, hate Like a Leaf blowing in the Wind Watch them all vacillate! They’re only Human They can’t see All the Years they could give you and me Only Human, after all So they give and we take ‘Til their silly Hearts break Looking down from above I’m intrigued by their Love So let’s call! Hmmm, let’s call.
Coming back to this animatic after finishing perusal S2 (and what an amazing animatic) I was thinking about Rem in Death Note and her love which leads to her death; for her kind to love someone at all spelt death and that seemed so Crowley to me. Rem didn’t seem to care much that her love and devotion to Misa spelled death, she just wanted Misa to be safe and live. I wonder if the same can be said about Crowley’s devotion towards Azira. As Crowley has put himself in countless dangerous situations just to see Azira happy (see: Season 2)
This is so amazing, I can’t stop perusal it! XD I love all the details, and their expressions. I also really liked how you twisted the song around so that they seem to be arguing about humans with Crowley being sympathetic to them and Aziraphale being not less sympathetic but less willing to go against orders from above.
